The 269 Scenario
I'm no Tim Russert, but we just sketched out some scenarios and likelys & whatnot, and basically if Bush takes Ohio, but loses Iowa, Wisconsin, New Hampshire, New Mexico and Nevada, it'll be a 269-269 tie. Depending (I think!) on what the West Virginia rebel does.

That WV Elector would need to vote for Kerry - voting for Cheney or some other prominent Republican, as he's indicated he would do, would still mean no one would have the 270 to win. Meaning it would be turned over to an (apparently at this point) Republican Congress to settle.
Looking very unlikely at this point [11:20 PST] that Kerry could take all 3 of New Mexico, Iowa and Nevada with Bush ahead in all 3, so the WV hillbilly won't get his 15 minutes of fame.
I was trying to figure out what was holding up New Mexico... it's pretty clear now!
