Peacekeeping Mission

South African troops stationed in the Democratic Republic of the Congo as part of a United Nations mission have been accused of 50 sexual attacks on underage boys and girls. But Defense officials say they are unaware of a UN report on the matter. A South African newspaper reports that one officer, who had requested only male interpreters under the age of 18, had returned to South Africa after allegedly molesting one interpreter. The paper reported there was no evidence the military investigated the matter.
