There's Only One Man on that Street
I've had enough with the NYT bashing…but this one's too good to pass up.

I want that guys job.
I would not be able to keep it, as I would answer most questions by saying something really obscene, but it would be fun while it lasted.
I think it's great that they have a consistent voice of the people. I'd be honored to take such a position. I hope they change their mind about firing Raimes!
I bet it's just a generic name they use so they can run the quotes without having to get the poor bastard they are quoting to sign a bunch of waivers the lawyers use to wield power with.
It was only last month, here in Hit & Run that I first "got it" with the man on the street named Heywood Jablomy. Now I have to figure out what Greg Packer really means?

He's a real person whose hobby is being first in line for various news-worthy events.
Life imitates The Onion.
Mountain, I think "Greg" in the gay community means "fudge."
I am definitely a big fan of Yoohoo soda. I'd like to buy one for Bill Clinton.
from http://www.discogs.com:
Ask people one name synonymous with the growth of the Western Australian dance music scene, and you?re very likely to hear the name Greg Packer. Packer is considered to be one of the pioneers of dance music in Australia, particularly in the area of breaks and drum?n?bass. With ever-increasing success as a DJ since the early 90?s, his more recent achievements as a producer have continued to establish his dominance both locally and even overseas with past releases on a range of labels and upcoming on LTJ Bukem's Good Looking Records.

The NYT came clean on Sunday, but they say the Post also uses him.
Hey Frenk, are you one of Jim Rome's clones or what?
B: I don't know who Jim Rome is, so I guess not. I am a nom de keyboard, but not a clone per se, certainly not named Jim.
"Fudge" Packer better not be first in line at my signing...I'll make him feel my pain.
He should only be the "man on the street" if there's a bus rolling over him.
