To Justice

Tim recently wondered how any productive member of society could end up on a jury.

Now another reason to avoid jury duty: No beer! Not even after a day of deliberations.

"No law prohibits alcohol-drinking by sequestered jurors, but many judges bar it to avoid potential problems such as jurors with hangovers or taxpayers being charged for bar tabs."

Jurors can decide a defendant's guilt (and award massive payments to a plaintiff), yet judges don't trust them to behave responsibly on their own time?
