It has taken two weeks to count the votes, but it appears that Seattle has voted to build a monorail. By a bare 50.23 percent majority, the city voted to tax itself $140 for every $10,000 in a vehicle's value in order to build the 14-mile system, set to open in 2007. As Conan O'Brien had Bart tell Marge in the immortal Marge vs. The Monorail episode of The Simpsons: "Sorry, Mom, the mob has spoken!"
