Toronto Mayor Rob Ford Stripped of Power To Remove and Appoint Heads of Committees
Vote of 39-3 in City Council
TORONTO – Toronto Mayor Rob Ford vows to take legal action after his decision making powers were crippled when city councillors voted to strip him of certain duties during a special meeting at city hall Friday.
Councillors voted 39-3 in favour of taking away Mayor Rob Ford's ability to appoint and remove heads of committees.
Those appointments have now been reassigned to Deputy Mayor Norm Kelly. Mayor Ford will also no longer be able to designate or fire the deputy mayor.
