Cypriots Only Able to Withdraw €260 From Their Accounts

Taking what they can while the government tries to sort out a deal with the European Union

NICOSIA, Cyprus, March 22 (UPI) — Panicked Cypriots withdrew as much money as they could from cash machines as Parliament was to vote Friday on a new bailout formula that doesn't tax depositors.

Lines of three dozen people or more were common on the island, especially at Cyprus Popular Bank PCL, also known as Laiki Bank, the country's second-largest bank and most-troubled lender.
