House Vote on ‘Cliff’ Proposal Unlikely

This afternoon, many of the House GOP’s top members – chairmen,
whips, leaders, etc. — gathered in the speaker’s office to hear the
latest on the fiscal cliff negotiations from the speaker. In
summary, they’re still waiting for the Senate to act, but even if
the Senate votes today to successfully avert the cliff, it does not
necessarily mean there will be enough time to get something through
the House before midnight tonight.
