Texas Supreme Court Approves Move to Help Low Income Couples Get Cheap Divorces
The Texas Supreme Court in a 5-3 decision decided to move forward with a standardized form for low-income couples wanting to divorce without hiring a lawyer.
The court ordered the proposed forms to be published for a period of public comment and could approve the new procedure by early next year.
The standardized form, tailored to Texas law, would be available to those filing uncontested divorces from marriages without children.
