U.S. Government Discovers New Country: Juvalu
If you're from Juvalu, you may be eligible for certain affirmative action programs.

That's from a federal regulation, 70 Fed. Reg. 14496-01, 14510-11; it has recently been corrected, but some states have similar statutes and regulations (I suspect borrowed from the federal model). I assume the country is supposed to be Tuvalu, and its neighbor Kirbati is supposed to be Kiribati.

The road to fortune is too indirect to make renaming a country worthwhile.
I read about people exploiting a mistake in a tax break that was meant for a specific company but failed to properly identify the company.
If the law won't come to the aid of a country, the country can come to the aid.
Interesting (to me at least) note on Kiribati: The name is pronounced kee-ree-baas, which seems nonsensical until you realize it is a Pidgin/transliteration of "Gilberts" which was the Western name for that group of islands. WWII buffs will know the Gilberts best from the battles of Tarawa and Makin.
Who'd have guessed this regulation was from the much misunderestimated Bush II administration?
Anyone tell Trump about this? He might want to acquire it.
The Juvalu Trump Hotel has a nice ring to it.
Are they on the Board of Peace yet?
