Manny Klausner
Manny, a co-founder of the Reason Foundation, an early editor of Reason, a leading libertarian lawyer, and a happy warrior for a wide range of libertarian causes, died this week. I had the pleasure of knowing Manny for over 30 years, and always much enjoyed his company and his enthusiasm. His fellow Reason Foundation co-founder Bob Poole has a very nice remembrance, and Reason's Brian Doherty has a more detailed obituary. He was a lovely man, and a key figure in the libertarian movement; he will be much missed by many, including me.

Sounds like a real Mensch, may his memory be a blessing, any relation to the great comedienne Maya Klausner?
RIP.
Manny was opposing counsel (with Pat Manshardt) many years ago in a case they had against the LAFD for race discrimination. I remember telling him I thought drugs like cocaine should be legal, but subject to regulation, like bars on selling adulterated milk. He asked why the government should be in the business of regulation of milk — and that’s when I realized I was only a “soft-core” libertarian.
Likewise.
In March of 2013, Manny Klausner tried to find a lawyer to represent me in my California Open Carry lawsuit. He was not successful, but at least he tried.
