Conservative or libertarian?
Sounds like a litmus test.
If she left it open to progs they'd fail the second sentence of her requirements so just saving them a bit of time reading.
Admitting she wants a conservative is progress for Gail Heriot.
Not so long ago, she couldn't even tell whether she was a Republican.
Well, make that "wouldn't" tell whether she was a Republican.
Carry on, clingers.
You should apply Rev. ... I think this position is perfect for you.
Artie. In which city do you live?
You will be facing our Red Guard, seeking the end of America. They are all servants of the Chinese Commie Party, and the enemy to our nation. All those who call other racist are called race whores. Zero tolerance for race whores.
At some point mandamus the Non-Profit Office of the IRS to de exempt all woke schools. The Commission should draft a federal statute, making free speech retaliation a valid federal tort.
The problem for the woke is that all -isms are folk statistics. They are mostly true, most of the time. So if you entrust your finances to a black man, and hire a Jew for your professional basketball team, you deserve the consequences. You will not run out of fingers counting the exceptions. Women should not be in hand to hand combat. Biological sex cannot be denied. Regulatory actions are real punishment, and should be subject to Fifth Amendment rights. The Supreme Court is filled with deniers, and people who just make up shit to promote lawyer rent seeking.
Would you accept a lifelong progressive lawyer who began identifying as a conservative or libertarian within, say, the last seven months?
Wonder how many will get this.
Only if you can accept a lifelong Mormon Conservative living in Palm Springs, who suddenly decides to identify as "non-binary" but changes nothing else about themselves.
That has to be maybe the most thankless job in the whole world....
Libertarian lawyer.
That seems. . . oxymoron-ish to me.
"Libertarian" indicates small govt but "lawyer" indicates big govt, i.e. courts, trials, procedures.
One can believe that the world as it is is not the world as it should be.
I wae unaware libertarians had problems with contracts or suing to stop government using powers it didn't actually have.
A lawyer who is principled and can deal politely with individuals, in D.C.? Don't they remove that from you in 1L?
So Gail....How about a guy with a lively sense of humor, occasionally self-deprecating, will not ever get a deer in the headlights look, is fearless and principled, and can engage people with different POVs....but ain't a lawyer? 🙂
Sounds like a fun job.
IANAL so I fail at the 4th word.
Yes!
"Your worldview leads to pandering kleptocrats who retard the economy, leading to medical treatment technology being behind where it should be, mass murderer."
Nooo, I won't work out for that.
“Must be fearless, principled, and able to deal politely individuals with very different views of the world.”
Just gonna leave that beach ball hanging out over the plate, yeah?
Principled?
Really Arthur....an article from 2007? Seems.....somewhat dated.
