Bella Ciao / Ukrainian Fury (Furies)
A much less intimate song than the last one I posted, written for the war to the tune of the Italian "Bella Ciao" ("Beautiful, Goodbye"), which served in 1943-45 as an Italian song of resistance against the Nazis. It's sung and apparently written by prominent Ukrainian singer Khrystyna Soloviy in Ukrainian, but with English subtitles (somewhat loosely translated). Note that "Roosnia" ("Русня") appears be a derogatory term for Russians collectively, and Dnipro is the Ukrainian name for what is English usually called the Dnieper, which flows through the center of Ukraine (including Kiev):
And as a bookend, the Italian version with the original Italian words, but with Ukrainian army images, as you will see.
UPDATE: Commenter DonP writes, "Talented, attractive and good trigger discipline. What's not to like."

Why are Putin and his oiligarchs still alive?
The lawyer profession should end its reliance on the rent seeking theory, and it must adopt utilitarianism as its guiding philosophy. Legislation can soften the harsh conclusions of utility.
Gorgeous women packing heat, defending liberty. Nothing is more beautiful. I wish them well.
they'll make beautiful Corpses
Again with the "Why is Putin still alive"? Because he's popular where it counts, with his people, just like Hitler was (it wasn't the Hoi Polloi who tried to blow him up but his weak ass Generals) .
Hey, Frankie. Don't go lawyer on me. Russians may have their utility calculations. We act on our utility calculations. $trillions in busted glass, thousands in dead people vs $billion for the scalp of Putin and of his oiligarchs, and hundreds of deaths of scumbags in criminal gangs. This is a fourth grade math word problems, which is the bigger number. You can do it. The Russian economy shoots into the air like a slingshot after the criminals are exterminated.
So the utility calculation of Russia is the same as ours. The Russians just can't do fourth grade arithmetic.
Talented, attractive and good trigger discipline. What's not to like.
Grown men letting women do their fighting, then getting all outraged when the Roosh-uns run a train on them.
No, people get outraged when civilians are targeted and sexually assaulted, and when Prisoners of War are mishandled (including sexual assault).
To think that I keep reading that the Russian disinformation ecosystem is focused inwardly at the moment, and we have our very own troll right here. Seems like a weird place to focus the energy, though.
Da, share the pravda comrade.
"What's not to like?"
Amen. 🙂
There was only three comments, was that update really necessary?
BravoCharlieDelta: 1. Most of our readers, I suspect, don't read the comments at all; if I want people to see a comment, I need to add it as an update to the original post.
2. Beautiful thing about blogging: I get to do things I want to do, even if they aren't really necessary.
"1. Most of our readers, I suspect, don't read the comments at all. . . ."
Actually I would have thought that comments are the best part.
I'd say it's 65% (comments)/35% (blogs) that keep me coming back to the VC.
I'm glad there are people who enjoy the comments -- I just think that they are a minority, albeit an important one.
Indeed, us pure commenters are keenly aware of how vital our opinions are to get out there!
Krayt. A good idea will spread fast like waves in a pond. One in 100 are good ideas. Of those one in 100 will be useful. Of those 1 in hundred will be great. So we should get to generating a lot.
Eugene is a denier. He is not influenced by arguments of fact, nor of logic, nor of utility. Since he lost his ability to ban people at Reason, this has been a good forum.
How about an update on Country Joe & The Fish "Feel like I'm fixin' to die rag"

Wow…a “fox” in the foxhole!
Heh.
Appears to be a medic/combat lifesaver of some sort, with those shears in her pack like that.
No red cross markings: The Soviets did not honor that convention in War-II, and the Russians do not now.
or do we.
Hey Frankie. Zero tolerance for scum and traitors. I agree with Putin on that.
Speaking of Effeminate Military Types, Senator, I mean "Colonel" Lindsey Buckingham-Nicks-Graham should be the first to be deployed, he can shower the Roosh-uns with a fusilade of Injunctions, Writs, and his annoying girlish Twang right up to point they put his head on a pike (symbolically of course)
I agree 100%. The first deployed should be the JAGs.
The lawyers imbedded with our warriors are Commisars of Political Correctness. They hobbled our warriors with threats of prosecution. Because of them we were tossed out of 6 countries by Stone Age savages with $50 weapons.
Name them. Arrest them. Try them. Execute them for treason in the court basement.
Dear Eugene,
Than you for including a version of the original Italian version. The Ukrainian singer delivers the song with a very hard edge in her voice. Yes, she is in the middle of a brutal invasion, but the Italian partisans were in an equally existential conflict but managed to convey a spirited resistance confident of final victory. For that reason Bella, ciao remains a powerfully meaningful song in Italy to this day.
"confident of final victory"
Easy to do when the Allies have already beaten Mussolini and are driving back the Germans on all fronts.
Not so easy when a huge enemy is currently destroying your cities and you are going to lose territory even if you win.
Bob,
As with many matters discussed in comments you are pitifully informed about the partisan resistance in Italy which began well before the defeat of Mussolini.
But that never matters to you.
Washington University chancellor routinely has bleeding heart e-mails over any and all imagined social justice warrior issues. Toilet paper hung the wrong way (for an ADA student to use), local shopkeep believed to be gazing slightly too long in the direction of a POC, or a false flag swastika on a dorm bulletin board...
But when tens of thousands begin dying in what could be the start of WWIII, crickets. Gotta be sensitive to whomever might self-identify as russian among the students or faculty.
Contrast with Notre Dame president's statement on this year's commencement speaker, “We now further recognize him[Ukranian Archbishop Borys Gudziak] as he speaks forcefully and eloquently in support of the Ukrainian people and in opposition to the Russian invasion ... as he speaks forcefully and eloquently in support of the Ukrainian people and in opposition to the Russian invasion of his ancestral homeland."
Why in the world are people out there making all these video collages of pictures of female soldiers that are popping up everywhere? This, as we can see from Eugene's comments about their attractiveness, and the commenters' comments, seems solely for the purpose of giving non-Ukrainian men a hard on. I don't think Ukrainian men are watching this; they have other stuff to worry about. I'm not seeing how this is helping the war effort. It makes me think these women are a joke and vain, not that they are brave or cool or interesting...."ooooo, let me make a picture collage of me in this war effort so men will look at me"....well, they are looking. Both the girls and their viewers are rather pathetic.
In addition, I don't think many of these women are fighting at all...in most of the pictures, the women are clearly posed, giving "come hither" side eye, and most of them are in full eye and face makeup. "Hey, before we get en route to the hospital to help the bomb victims, let me just apply my makeup."
I don't think these women are fighting the battles for the men at all....I do think they are liking the attention of pathetic dudes, though.
