If that’s somehow not anti-Semitic then I’m sure it’s anti-Chinese.
Which is where all of us should be. And no, the post is neither anti0-Semetic nor anti-Chinese. And I should know as I am Jewish-Chinese American.
I like her sense of humor. It is self deprecating, and not offensive to anyone else. The humor is that she was enjoying pork fried rice.

When does the Supreme Court get its first Chinese-American justice?
The situation is just Wong. But I guess they're keeping their Chin up.
Art Hoppe, an SF Chronicle columnist, used to jibe at the Vietnam war with generals (paraphrased from ancient memory) Who Dat Up Dar and Who Dat Down Dar. I imagine those columns would not pass muster today.
Yesterday my relatives were discussing which movie to start watching the Marvel Cinematic Universe series from. My woke brother recommended Captain America: The First Avenger because even though Iron Man was made first, its jokes would no longer be deemed acceptable.
It's pretty sad when the left is too woke to make jokes any more.
Interesting.
Coincidentally, yesterday my *own* relatives were discussing which MCU movie to watch. My racist Trump-supporting Republican brother suggested anything other than "Black Panther," since that movie had so many leading black actors.
It's pretty sad when the right is not woke enough, and is so racist, that it refuses to watch an excellent movie, just because there are so many non-white actors in it.
Funny how each of our totally-made-up relatives happened to exactly support our narratives. Again, a total coincidence, I'm sure.
My very real brother is very much to the left politically.
When he lived in Austin, TX in 2008 and I had a work trip there, he invited me to a debate watching party during the Obama-Clinton primary campaign. (He had tickets because he volunteered for Obama's campaign that year.)
It's a sad reflection on you that you responded to my factual anecdote by making up a caricature of how you think conservatives behave.
I mean, my story wasn't even really about what my brother thinks, except that he thinks -- which I take at face value, not having seen the movie in years -- that the current Disney Corp. would not make Iron Man (a 13-year-old movie) now because the jokes would not pass muster today. I meant it as a contrast to the change in perspectives since the Vietnam War.
None of the MCU movies are excellent, entertaining maybe, but certainly not excellent, and none of them not featuring Scarlett Johansson are worth watching twice.
It's pretty sad when the right is not woke enough
Its one man. Not an entire political segment. You are just as bigoted as the brother.
AND YOU'RE MAKING MY EXACT POINT!!! You do get that, right? (I mean, Michael got it right away...even if he disagreed with it.)
Maybe. May we never again be in a war large enough that balls out demonization of the enemy is useful.
Good one. Merry Christmas. Happy Holiday Season.
I'm not quite ready to believe that Graham had set that up.
Merry Christmas!
Predictions for the coming year:
1. AK continues to post bigoted comments about religious people also repeating the same old tropes he has posted for years.
2. Sarcastro continues down his slide of decline by continuing with the outright lying and misrepresentations of what other say. By the end of 2022 he posts will look almost like AK's (maybe he is AK...?)
3. Leftist commenters will continue with the same old, same old. Endless tired tropes. Complaining about Trump. Yelling at people without evidence. Countless logical fallacies. Denial of real facts and science.
4. Leftist anger will increase exponentially throughout the year as the Brandon administration becomes more of a laughing stock, the police get re-funded with increased budgets to deal with rising crime, Kamalalalalala-ding-dong loses her entire staff, they get decimated in the midterms, and Trump does something innocent that will make them incessantly mad.
Happy New Year to all!
To give him his due, Jimmy the Dane is probably the best example of the degeneration of discourse in the comments since VC moved to Reason. Name-calling and patently false assertions. He lives in a hateful, ignorant place. So do most of the other commenters, using any post no matter what the topic for culture-war pot shots, often fact-free and ad hominem.
By contrast, look at this civilized discussion from when VC was a freestanding web site.

As for my predictions for 2022, I can predict with certainly I will not think of J the D because I'm putting him on mute.
I do find it interesting and sort of fresh when the leftists around these parts complain about civility standards when they spend most of their time throwing around vitriol, bigoted statements, name calling, and blanket baseless assertions about the character of people who simply have the wrong politics. But, that is more of an example of how leftists live in a social media influenced echo chamber and have absolutely no self awareness. And that is plainly evident by Capt's comment here. I'll be glad to ring in 2022 knowing his inane and banal replies to my posts won't clutter up the forum.
An ancient Hebrew tradition that goes back 2021 years.
I think it goes back to the Exile. Some Hebrews were exiled farther than others.
There's an exception to dietary laws that says pork and shellfish are actually kosher when eaten in a Chinese restaurant.
This exception is not generally known, except to Jews and Chinese restaurant owners.
It has always surprised me that Mel Brooks didn't work this in one of his movies somehow. I always thought the Last Supper scene in History of the World Part 1 would have been even funnier if they had Chinese food served.
And as a Jewish person, my Jewish wife and I went to my brother's house to celebrate Christmas eve with a dinner of Chinese takeout. There was a long line at Billy Lee's take out line in Bexley, Ohio last night
Not to get too far off topic but a Walgreens where I had to pick up a prescription on the north side of Columbus, OH was packed yesterday.
