The last Democrat-appointed CJ took the oath in 1946 and he only lived another 7 years. How many of use were alive then?
It should have been "how many of us", but "use" works just as well.
Poster boy for moving the court to Kansas, and for excluding all Ivy indoctrinated scumbags in a new Judiciary Act.
Pretty intolerable betrayal of his promises. He justifies the Congress's impeachment of Justices for their decisions, and not just for trivial collateral corruptions. Their decisions are far more toxic and destructive than a petty conflict of interest.
Only the third CJ nominated by a Democrat in history
Fourth: Taney, Fuller, Stone and Vinson. But Taney predates the Republicans.
Stone was Coolidges's AG so I thought a GOPer nominated him.
Taft nominate a Democrat.
That was a different age.
And on that day, l'il Josh Blackman thought to himself, I could have a career as a mindreader …
What oath did he take? His loyalty seems to be to the institution far more than to the Constitution.
