Horrible judgment, long list of abominable decisions.
I’ve been re-reading Michael Oren’s “Six Days of War”, and Justice Goldberg played a minor, but not insignificant role in the American part of the run up to the conflict. I don’t think he felt it was worth stepping off the court for, though.
Supposedly LBJ promised he would re-appoint him, but I can't believe he took that seriously. It was too uncertain a promise. Probably Goldberg just didn't like to be on the Court that much.
