So, have we used up all the Hughes facial-hair jokes?
That's the man of wisdom who in 1907 said "The Constitution is what the judges say it is."
Quite a cynical statement, although I am not so sure he meant it to be.
Remember Sen. Sam Ervin's speech about verbicide? It is a sad commentary on our English language that it can be butchered with such ease. I can't count the times I have seen judges murder the English language. Sen. Sam's autistic grandson ought to be taken to the town square and flogged for it. The several tiers of our state's judiciary are tainted with these verbicidal creeps.
He resigned to accept the Republican Party's nomination for president. And he won two primaries while a sitting Justice and accepted the Party's nomination while still on the Court. Imagine the screaming today if something like that would occur.
Don't worry. He'll be back.
Winner of the Charles Evans Hughes lookalike contest!
P.S. The more I look at him, the more he reminds me of our old miniature schnauzer.
Any more hair on his face and it would be a mane. Handsome face, though.
