SmartNews App
If you've used it, how have you liked it?
In recent months, much of our traffic has come via the SmartNews app, not far behind the traffic we get via Google, and sometimes ahead of Google. I've just downloaded the app, but I read most of my news online and on the phone, so I haven't gotten much experience with it; online reviews, though, seem quite positive, and obviously lots of people are using it.
Have you folks used it, and what do you think about it?

Never heard of it but but with a name like “Smart News” I’m inclined to think it is anything but.
Well, they link to us — now that’s smart!
True, but for how long. Silicon Valley seems to rebuke anyone with whom they do not agree.
Perhaps one day they’ll stop linking to our stories; I can’t force them to like us. But for now they are bringing us a lot of readers, which sounds good to me; and I’d like to know a bit more about them.
I read the reviews at Apple Apps. Smart predicate to subject news is troubling enough, but reviews suggest that it is just more click-bait advertisement server.
I think ‘news’ is over. The conspiracy of ignorance masquerades as common sense.
If it is still news then why is not the Master’s Golf Tournament miracle water hazard shot by Spanish golfer not screaming sports headlines? What a shot!
Had it (on Android) and deleted it. It bills itself as getting personally curated content but I found that it was more click-baity and heavy on the ads. Not to mention it would link to paywall content that I then couldn’t read.
I didn’t have it long, but it never seemed to “learn” what I liked and disliked.
As much as I despise the MSM, I’ll continue to use their apps (CNN, WaPo, Fox News, AP) for breaking news and local news apps to get my local content for areas I am in. (And, of course, I will always keep Volokh in my blogroll).
Nope; plain rss reader for me. I don’t want anyone else deciding what is ‘news’ for me.
