What does US history look like if Hughes' campaign doesn't piss of the state GOP in California and he wins the 1916 Election?
Winner of the Charles Evans Hughes lookalike contest!
I've always loved Hughes's facial hair and eyebrows. I also liked how his son, Charles Junior, was a partner at Hughes, Hubbard & Reed, so the firm didn't have to change its name after Chuck Senior (for you Billions fans) left to become Chief Justice.
Does anyone know of a good biography? Merlo Pusey published a two-volume doorstop in 1951, but there really ought to be something more recent.
Harvard published his "Autobiographical Notes," which I've heard were pretty enjoyable reading. I would also like to read a new bio. I remember reading in William O. Douglas' autobiography that he rated Hughes very highly as a person and a Chief Justice.
"I’ve always loved Hughes’s facial hair and eyebrows."
Thanks to those, even if he weren't Chief Justice, he could still have played one in the movies.
