Monday Bear Blogging - Covid-19 Edition
Bear hunting and social distancing go together, at least in Maine.
Maine's annual bear hunting season begins next week, only with a twist. According to an Associated Press report in Greenwire, the state is encouraging hunters to take extra precautions due to Covid-19. "The state is continuing to recommend that hunters observe social distancing practices in the woods," according to the story. Visitors to the state must also comply with a quarantine protocol, which could lengthen the trip.
I can't speak for others, but I prefer to conduct my bear hunting with a camera and from well more than six feet away. Perhaps that's just me.

The state of Maine's advisory has no bearing on how I will conduct my hunting.
As a Maine resident who has hosted multiple guests, arriving by car and plane, from out of state in the last month, I can tell you that almost no one is complying with these protocols. Thankfully there appears to be no enforcement either.
That's Fascist Janet for you....
We call her General Mills.
Bear Left Here.
In the state of Texas, there is no season for hunting wild hogs. They are "fair game" at any time, because they are considered a nuisance, with bounties. There are precautions to take when hunting hogs. And one of the precautions is to have a friend with you. Otherwise, the wrong encounter with a hog can be fatal -- you can bleed to death.
Are they edible?
Anyone that's ever smelled a bear's breath knows it's not the hunter who needs the mask.
If I remember correctly, you are allowed to hunt bear with a bow & arrow....
Ridiculous hunting guidelines, but no one, here, is standing up for the right to Bear arms? At least bulls have Taurus and horses Colt 45s.
