"The Return of Roe v. Wade"
Howard Bashman (How Appealing) notes:
Last night in the Bronx, Tampa Bay Rays relief pitcher Chaz Roe pitched to New York Yankees second baseman Tyler Wade with one on and two outs in the bottom of the ninth inning…. Wade hit a fly ball to center field that was caught to end the game. Thus, in this rematch, as at the U.S. Supreme Court, Roe prevailed.
Nothing on Planned Parenthood v. Casey, though.

Was Roe also conned into playing for a team that used them to forward their agenda? Is Roe later going to regret ever lending their name to such a team and spend the rest of their life talking about how they were conned?
Roe recanted that; turns out it was all a grift worked by the Pro Life folks.

Why does it not surprise me you would drop some fake news here...
If it's fake, I await your debunking.
She became a salaried advocate, as many advocates, for many issues, on all sides, who choose to do so full time. That doesn't mean she was paid off you dolt.
Read:
In her "deathbed confession", as she calls it, a visibly ailing McCorvey says she only became an anti-abortion activist because she was paid by evangelical groups.
"I was the big fish," she said. "I think it was a mutual thing. I took their money and they'd put me out in front of the cameras and tell me what to say.
"That's what I'd say. It was all an act. I did it well too. I am a good actress. Of course, I'm not acting now."
She added: "If a young woman wants to have an abortion, that's no skin off my ass. That's why they call it choice."
Other than that, where is your evidence, Sarcastr0?
"She became a salaried advocate, as many advocates, for many issues, on all sides, who choose to do so full time. That doesn’t mean she was paid off you dolt."
The word "salaried" does indeed mean she was paid. I'd go on to call you whatever is stupider than a dolt, maybe a "Dane", but you wear your stupidity with pride.
"She became a salaried advocate"
"That doesn’t mean she was paid off you dolt"
I'd be more worried about a reversal of tide in the culture war if guys like Jimmy weren't at the core of the conservative side.
Salaried implies that one was paid to do a job which was full time advocate.
"Paid off" implies that someone was paid to provide a particular service or advocate for a position they otherwise might not have if it were not for the money.
Consistent statements and letters from Roe suggest that she was a salaried advocate that believed the ACLU lied to and conned her. She held these beliefs, firms and sincerely, until apparently the very end. Even then there are some that suggested her "deathbed" confession was coerced.
Sure sometimes people lie. And sometimes people live a lie. But for around 40 years she was adamant that ACLU conned her and abortion was societal evil. I think I will let those years speak for her and not a statement made at the end of her life under questionable circumstances.
Ah. So it's fake news because you have chosen to believe so.
GTFO.
No it is fake news because it is wholly inconsistent with the body of her life's work and there is also sufficient evidence out there that the ONE article on which you rely to supposedly discredit her entire 40 years of advocacy was coerced.
You should really be a shamed of yourself for even making such a suggestion.
She's the one that made the suggestion, chief.
It's not a single article, it's her words.
Accusing me and her of lying is buffoonish.
" Is Roe later going to regret ever lending their name to such a team"
If Roe is "their" name in the first place.
Eugene, I must say the thing I miss about the old Conspiracy was your occasional baseball blogging.
That one (Planned Parenthood) has already been covered for baseball purposes because there was no joy in Mudville when mighty Casey struck out at SCOTUS (at least in terms of outright overruling Roe...).
Am I the only one who really doesn't care about baseball in empty stadiums?
In a saner world, this was funny -- it isn't now.

No, you are not alone.
After the mighty game winning grand slam home run, all the announcer can say is " . . . and the cutouts are going wild!"
Am I the only one that sees echoes of those who say they'll never watch the NFL again after the kneeling.
Or NASCAR after their flag shenanigans.
Or the NBA after it got so...uh...thuggish.
Mehhhh.
Reminds me of the exchange I had with Ta Nehisi Coates back when he had a comment section. I disputed his prediction of a fairly imminent NFL demise on account of TBIs. Example #35,846,264,896,293 of very intelligent people unable to distinguish the world that is from the one they want it to be.
Man, his comments section was great. Full-time moderator job to keep it so, though.
At this point, there's been enough of this sports cancel-culture talk where 5 will get you 10 neither changes their baseball watching habits.
I don't think stare decisis has the same effect in baseball, so Wade has a real shot the next time they meet.
Was Roberts the umpire?
"Nothing on Planned Parenthood v. Casey, though."
There is no joy in Mudville.
Casey, mighty Casey, has struck out.
There were runners on second and third when Casey came up. I never understood why they just didn't intentionally walk him. Would've made a very boring poem.
" I never understood why they just didn’t intentionally walk him."
Depends on the batting average of whoever was behind Casey in the batting order, and on whether he was a lefty or a righty, and who was left in the bullpen.
"Depends on the batting average of whoever was behind him..."
Sort of. But there's the threshold matter of the score - never put the winning run on base.
What I always found interesting is that one the same day Roe was decided, two other major events occurred: 1) LBJ dies, and 2) Down goes Frazier!
That's how the Dems get you. They distract you with sporting extravaganzas, then by the time you realize they've killed all the blastulas... hey, what happened to LBJ!
