2017 Federalist Society lawyers convention

The 2017 National Lawyers Convention of the Federalist Society for Law & Policy Studies will be held November 16-18 at the Mayflower Hotel in Washington. This year's theme is "Administrative Agencies and the Regulatory State." As usual, the conference features an impressive lineup of judges, government officials, private attorneys and academics (including a few Conspirators).

Among the highlights of this years conference are:

• Remarks by prominent administration officials, including White House Counsel Don McGahn, Attorney General Jeff Sessions and EPA Administrator Scott Pruitt.
• Speeches and appearances by more than a dozen federal judges, including David Barron (CA1), Amal Thapar (CA6), Kevin Newsom (CA11), Jeffery Sutton (CA6), Edith Jones (CA5), Brett Kavanaugh (CADC), Diane Sykes (CA7), and William Pryor (CA11), among others (including one Justice Neil M. Gorsuch).
• A debate over the legacy of Lochner v. New York between Yale law professor Akhil Reed Amar and Georgetown law professor (and VC contributor) Randy Barnett.
• A range of panels covering topics from separation of powers and antitrust to environmental protection and libel law, featuring a wide range speakers including Michael McConnell, Richard Epstein, Heather Gerken, Abbe Gluck, Philip Hamburger, John Harrison, Gillian Metzger, Lisa Heinzerling, Jonathan Turley, Ted Shaw and John Duffy, among many others.

As this is the Volokh Conspiracy, I should also note that, in addition to Randy, other Conspirators scheduled to speak include Eugene Volokh, Ilya Somin, Nicholas Quinn Rosenkranz and myself.
