The Italian edition of my book "Democracy and Political Ignorance: Why Smaller Government is Smarter"
The Italian edition of my book Democracy and Political Ignorance: Why Smaller Government is Smarter is now in print (also available here and here). The translation was published by the Istituto Bruno Leoni. I am very grateful to Alberto Mingardi, the Director General of the IBL, for arranging the translation, and others at Institute for their excellent work in producing it.
When I was working on the book, I did not expect it to attract much interest outside the United States. Most of the examples of political ignorance analyzed in it are taken from American politics. However, political ignorance is a problem that afflicts numerous democracies around the world. For that reason, the book has gotten more attention abroad than I expected. The Italian translation includes a new Introduction in which I discuss the relevance of my analysis for Italy and other European nations.
Reviews and analyses of the new translation have begun to appear in the Italian media, including in Il Giornale and La Gazzetta del Mezzogiorno.
If you really want to read Democracy and Political Ignorance, but don't want to do so in either English or Italian, a Japanese translation is scheduled to be published next year by the Japanese academic publisher Shinzansha.
