"Crafting Outrageous, Noxious word Groups with Reprehensibly Enthusiastic Self-Satisfaction"
From Philip Bump (The Fix), here at the Post, "364 bills that have been introduced in Congress, ranked by acronym quality." I particularly like #2:
EGO Act - Eliminating Government-funded Oil-painting Act. Sen. Bill Cassidy (R-La.)
The bill itself, S. 310, is proposed "To prohibit the use of Federal funds for the costs of painting portraits of officers and employees of the Federal Government."
On the other hand, some statutes, such as the Crimes Against Charitable Americans Act of 2001 - part of the USA PATRIOT Act - have acronyms that are rather suboptimal.
