What Does the Mises Caucus Really Want? Live with Michael Heise, Nick Gillespie, and Zach Weissmueller
Join Reason on YouTube and Facebook on Thursday at 1 p.m. Eastern for a discussion of "Project Decentralized REVOLution" with Mises Caucus founder Michael Heise.
"It is time to accept our failures and strategic mistakes if we are going to grow into a viable political vehicle," writes Aaron Harris, author of "Project Decentralized REVOLution: For a New Libertarian Party," a document laying out the political strategy of the Mises Caucus that took control of Libertarian Party last May. The document declares that the party must accept "certain realities about the political landscape in the United States, and where third parties are within that landscape" and that although "some of this may be bitter medicine….it's crucial that we get real with ourselves."
So what are the goals and strategies of the new Libertarian Party? What does it mean for the party to "get real" about electoral politics? To help answer these questions, Reason will speak with Michael Heise, the chair and founder of the Mises Caucus, this Thursday at 1 p.m. eastern. Watch and leave questions and comments on the YouTube video above or on Reason's Facebook page here.

BREAKING: A second batch of classified documents from Biden's time as VP were found by his aides at a different location than the Penn Biden center (no details in the story about where or when they were found).

50 yrs. and, at this point, the guy is unable to remember dick. Probably “safer” to assume there’s classified documents in every gas station, residence, warehouse, farmhouse, henhouse, outhouse and doghouse within a six-mile radius of anywhere he’s been.
I assumed this after the first batch and would think I'm being *extremely* conservative in saying there aren't at least another 3-4 batches lying around somewhere. Maybe even demonstrably destroyed.
Maybe even demonstrably destroyed.
Biden's staff is smashing phones with hammers as we speak.
All I can say is I hope the media walks away from this story as fast as they walked away from the Trump classified documents story.
I am making $162/hour telecommuting. I never imagined that it was honest to goodness yet my closest companion is earning $21 thousand a month by working on the web, that was truly shocking for me, she prescribed me to attempt it simply

That'd be very slowly, with lots of backwards loops and restarts. And they're still walking to this very day.

Obviously we need a hard target search...

What Does the Mises Caucus Really Want?
Libertarianism --instead of the leftism that's been wearing it's skin lo these many years.
Liberty, maybe the name. They can keep the skin. It's all floppy and worn out now anyway.
Wait, liberty means something more than "weed, Mexicans, and butt sex"? Someone let Reason know, please.
Foooood trucks and abortion.
Making money online is more than $15k just by doing simple work from home. I received $18376 last month. Why not combine the two?
Soylent veal.
What Does the Mises Caucus Really Want?
I bet a million dollars that the Reasonistas don't actually give a flying fuck about what the Mises Caucus wants. Especially if it's libertarian.
Bingo...ENB hates libertarians...isn't she on Mastodon? ha ha
To accept the fact that the Libertarian Party will never do anything of note and we're basically fucked as a country?
I think it means actually trying to get elected or grab enough votes that you get the Republicans to listen to you.*
*Before any of the left-libertarians get their panties in a twist, I singled out the Republicans because Democrats are vehemently anti-liberty.
If the Republicans were to move more in the LP direction as a result, they would lose more votes from the center than they would gain in libertarian votes.
On the other hand, if the Republicans simply ignore the people who have defected to the LP and move more towards statist and progressive ideology, they can gain more votes than they have lost.
The net effect of the LP gaining a few percent of the vote is for the Republican party to write off libertarian ideology entirely and become less libertarian.
Aren't you proud of yourself.
So the gist of what you’re saying is the republicans have to be more like the democrats to get votes? No thanks.
I’m not so sure though. There must be quite a few aging dems that are tired of woke-environmental-progressivism, but still turned off by the social conservatives. Adding a dash of libertarianism to pick up some “little l” votes and some aged out democrats might be a recipe for overall vote gain.
No, the gist of what I'm saying is that: Republicans become more like Democrats IF THE LP STARTS TAKING AWAY REPUBLICAN VOTES.
I seriously doubt that there are many "aging dems" that are attracted by the nutty policies of the LP.
That's an interesting hypothesis I hadn't considered.
Translation: Democrats are Jews out to destroy The Reich.
Funny how the law-changing power of spoiler votes whooshed over all their heads. Yet the Income Tax and Prohibition Amendments were gotten into the Constitution by small parties that never "won"--if you blink out, blank out, ignore and evade those tiny outcomes of repeatedly getting 2% of the vote.
It means accepting that libertarians have to work with others and thus proposing grand sweeping visions is counterproductive since it scares off potential allies.
Practical incrementalism is the path of success.
When Reason went all "go to Mastodon" when Musk liberated Twitter from pedo/govt/bolshie control it was obvious Reason is not libertarian in any way. No Nick abortion and open boders and "trans" sexual mutulation forced by people who are in denial of reality is not libertarian. Ending the Fed, shutting down all federal agencies created after 1960, allowing competing currencies, and getting foreign influence out of American (AIPAC and others) is libertarian.
shutting down all federal agencies created after
19601900Fixed your typo, brah
Dude, you are correct sir!
What I find interesting is that every Reasoner discussing Mises claims they are extremists uninterested in building bridges but every discussion by Mises is trying to figure out how to best work with others. We see Reasoners' inability to recognize reality when it comes to groups who threaten the status quo isn't limited to anti-establishment Republicans.
It makes me wonder why a group who claims to believe the establishment is largely wrong nevertheless consistently misunderstands anyone who challenges that establishment always to the benefit of the establishment.
The Stormfront Caucus has joined the chat.
What's stormfront? Weather chasers?
"Stormfront" is a well-known white supremacist/Nazi forum.
A lot of the commenters here at this ostensibly Libertarian website would actually be more at home there, where you don't have to even try to hide your bigotry.
Those are girl-bullying infiltrators. The idea is to give casual visitors exactly that impression. People think they stumbled into a Lewser Trumpanzee riot or Kristallnacht Jew-baiting rampage and flee.
ENB joined?
The National LP declared that the violent January 6th riots were a "peaceful demonstration". Fuck the LP.
Sure, most participants were innocent and just got sucked into it, sure only four people died, all of them indirectly, but it was still not "peaceful". There was property damage, there were 138 injuries that had to be treated, and there were pipebombs found.
It wasn't just soccer fans getting rowdy. Riots are riots, not peaceful demonstrations.
Fuck the LP.
Now, do BLM riots. Uh, I mean "mostly peaceful protests".
The most recent Presidential candidate had literally zero problems with the significantly more damaging and killing protests in 2020. She sided with them.
Who died besides two protestors/rioters??
See? The whole point of the AfD and GOP funding Mises anarco-fascists was to evoke exactly that reaction. Just as in 1982 the looters helped saboteurs add the child molesting plank to evoke the identical reaction from a different set of voters. It show's they're scared, and that LP spoiler votes weaken them like Kryptonite.
Well I'm certainly unimpressed by Mises Caucus when it comes to rationalize and justify non-intervention.
About halfway through the vid, but Gillespie’s stance on DeSantis’ school policy is either dishonest or obtuse. This is a case of the teachers wanting to teach something vs. taxpayers who don’t want their money going towards that thing and parents who don’t want their kids taught it. Short of the perfect libertarian goal of no government involvement in schools, one side or the other going to get stepped on. There are no laws that say you have to be a school teacher, or to teach in Florida. There *are* laws that say you have to pay taxes and that kids have to attend school. I side with the parents and the taxpayers.
That does Michael Heise do for a living?
Did he ever finish High School?
Best part of this interview was Heise praising Harry Browne as a "radical in a suit" while sitting in what appears to be a college door room wearing a band t-shirt. (Around the 46 min. mark)
