  The public release of the affidavit that accompanied the search warrant revealed the warrant application relied heavily on information from news articles, including a CBS Miami piece titled "Moving Trucks Spotted At Mar-a-Lago" and a Breitbart News article in which former Trump adviser Kash Patel discussed the classified status of documents the bureau previously removed from the estate on behalf of the National Archives.
  
  Good thing they redacted the rest in order to strike a more even-handed case of informing the public and spoiling the investigation.

  Former Washington Field Office Assistant Special Agent in Charge Tim Thibault was reportedly escorted out of the Bureau on Friday, amid whistleblower allegations that he showed political bias in his handling of politically sensitive investigations.
  
  Huh. So this Thibault guy was reportedly escorted out of the building at the same time that some self-proclaimed whistleblowers alleged some mean stuff about him. Clearly the two must be connected, right?
  
  "Thibault goes to lunch at Applebee's amid allegations that he withheld important evidence". Go look at what he had for lunch, it could be evidence of a crime!!!!
  
  The Washington Times reported eyewitness accounts that "Mr. Thibault was seen exiting the bureau’s elevator last Friday escorted by two or three 'headquarters-looking types.'
  
  Oh. He was seen leaving the building with 'headquarters-looking types'. That's ironclad proof right there that he was guilty of something.
  
  The article appears to have been updated and now states that Thibault "abruptly resigned" but that he was "forced to leave his post" and cites two unnamed former FBI officials.
  
  Oh. He was "forced to leave his post" - or he "abruptly resigned", we're not sure which - and we know this because two anonymous guys told us so. Clearly rock-solid proof right there that this Thibault fellow was guilty of something.
  
  Just the News was unable to independently confirm the Times report.
  
  Unable to independently confirm? Oh. Well, that's not a real problem though. We know something shady happened because the anonymous guys told us they saw him resigning or something because he was being escorted out of the building by guys in suits. And you know how unusual it is for guys in suits to be hanging out at an FBI office.
  
  Whistleblowers alleged that Thibault concealed the partisan nature of evidence from FBI Director Christopher Wray and Attorney General Merrick Garland to secure their approval to open an investigation into former President Donald Trump. That investigation culminated in the FBI's raid on Trump's Mar-a-Lago estate earlier this month.
  
  Oh, the anonymous guys allege that he concealed some stuff. Totally must be true. Totally.
  
  Good job by our friends at ~~right-wing media~~ Patriotic Investigative Journalism outlets to be applying the highest standards of journalistic integrity to bring us this important information!

The FBI lied about Carter Page on a warrant to be able to spy on the Trump campaign. They may well have lied to be able to get a warrant for the MaL raid. They may be lying now. They routinely move personnel from one botched railroad job to some other position.

    But I have no doubt that he is a dirty fuck. And FBI is a dirty agency. He could be getting drummed out for a legitimate reason. Or he could be the victim of someone else’s dirty dealings, which would be even sweeter. There’s essentially no FBI oversight, so all kinds of crooked shit goes on over there. Well, here is some good news.
New study on partisan animosity revealed some strategies to get people to not support authoritarian or undemocratic policies.

Basically, two strategies were at least a little bit successful: appeals to fear, and appeals to empathy. Appeal to fear, in the sense that if we lose democracy, the consequences could be very grave. And appeal to empathy, in the sense that it's much harder to hate people that you can empathize with.

Logical argument didn't seem to make the list though. Which is discouraging. But I guess not too surprising that appeals to emotion were more effective than appeals to reason.

Basically, this data broker firm, Kochava, sold cell phone data for marketing purposes, but they also put a 'free sample' online for people to try out. They did no vetting or anything to see if those wanting the 'free sample' had any legitimate purpose, and the data was NOT completely anonymized. So one could download this data for completely free and use it to track people wherever they went.

So the FTC is suing them, but it doesn't even seem that what they did was illegal, only unethical. They might actually win this case. Which might be correct according to the law but would be IMO karmically unjust. This 'third party' doctrine of personal data really has to be re-examined.
