Remy: Full House (San Francisco Real Estate Edition)
Remy's plan for more housing meets NIMBY resistance.
HD DownloadYou can't watch Full House reruns without getting nostalgic (for the good old days when a San Francisco townhouse wasn't $6 million)
Written and performed by Remy.
Produced and edited by Austin Bragg.
Music tracks and mastering by Ben Karlstrom.
Background vocals by Kelly Brock.
LYRICS:
How could this family afford this facility?
Have you seen the cost of real estate? It's insanity!
A kitchen? Are you kidding me?
Who let them paint that door?
Did someone bribe a commissioner?
The loudest peeps that you've ever seen
And compliance costs balloon
But if you stop supply as demand rises
It's no wonder very soon
Everywhere you look, there's a tarp
A sheet to hold on to
Everywhere you look, there's a space
Look, some condos could go there
Everywhere you look
Changing our town's character is what I bemoan
There's a guy taking a crap outside a Cold Stone
And red tape
Everywhere you look

I got out of the Navy in 1976 and had a studio on Snob Hill for $170 a month. Probably condos by now, who knows how expensive.
"Shadows kill kids" is the most underrated moment of the video.
The big question is, why do so many people think they need and have to live in San Francisco? The place is a shithole. If you are middle class like most of us, there is no reason to live there. It's turned into a city made for the homeless and billionaires. Just let them have it. There are other more affordable places to live in the Bay Area.
Even back in the day when homes were more affordable, I couldn't afford to buy one in San Francisco. So I ended up in a nice home in the East Bay. And it's up in the hills with an incredible view of the entire Bay Area. Now I spend my time on my deck looking down on San Francisco. It's far more enjoyable than living in the city.
This constant complaining and whining about affordability and subsidized housing in the free developed world's premier cities is bordering on insanity. San Jose has nice dorm type affordable micro units with access to transportation and everything the valley and city offer. Yeah, so NIMBY's aren't going to change zoning laws-we fucking get it already. Move on.
Zoning on on Loughlin during the 'bribing the commissioner' line was a nice touch.
ha! didn't even catch that until you mentioned it.
+1,000!!!!
Stopping developments and growth is a good thing. Controlling human overpopulation and destroying developments would be even better.

If the denizens of SF were as liberal as they say they are, they would share their houses with the less fortunate homeless.
After all, to share is to care.
hey hey hey just wait a damn minute there mister. my desire to help them includes ONLY your wallet and those of fascists like you. always remember, what's mine is mine, what's yours is ours
