When the LA Times asked whether Fred Thompson's role as Knox Pooley–the chief heavy in Wise Guy's "White Supremacy" arc–would hurt him, I agreed with Jim Geraghty:

This sounds like an Onion parody of attack journalism, but it's not.

Indeed, we should impart nothing from Thompson's fire-'n'-brimstone-pork rinds performance as Pooley, except that 1)he borrows an awful lot of Nixonisms for a man who now trumpets his role bringing Watergate fiends to justice and 2)he's much better reading these lines then he is on the actual campaign trail these days.
