Announcing The Reason Rundown With Peter Suderman
A new limited series podcast incoming next week

The Reason Rundown With Peter Suderman is a new show to finish out your week. It's an extra dose of "Free Minds and Free Markets" in Reason's podcast slate.
Features editor and sometimes Reason Roundtable host Peter Suderman will be steering concise, engaging conversations with a single Reason staffer on a single prevailing topic each week.
This is a new podcast designed to introduce you to the smart, eclectic journalists on the Reason staff, all of whom have wide-ranging knowledge about a huge array of topics. It's an opportunity to bring those personalities and that knowledge to you in podcast form.
The Reason Rundown With Peter Suderman has a trailer out now, and the first episode is coming soon. We hope you'll listen.

I believe you did that wrong. It’s:
“Reason needs another podcast”
- nobody
"Hang tight, I did the math on this and it checks out the same"
- guy who didn't take any college level math courses for his degree
That's saying something because collages now offer algebra 1

I for one can't wait to not listen to this but see daily advertisement about it.
Over under starting at a quarter of the Dave smith podcast.
I like the idea of the topic. I really enjoy hearing from the extended Reason staff.
Orange Man Bad. Abortion good. Florida Man Bad. Open borders good. You’re welcome.
I disagree. You have a core staff who do a lot of the daily output, and an extended staff who actually have pretty varied opinions. Even Liz Wolfe, who's a new person, is varied in her opinions from the sort of core 4 folks. Slade, Tucille, De Rugy, Boehm, Stossel, are all pretty different and represent actually pretty different views within the libertarian party. If they include Volokh writers it gets way more varied. I'd love to hear from them.
They definitely within a range, but it's more varied then some folks give them credit for and I think that's because the number of posts come from a relatively few set of folks who have very specific axes to grind.
You forgot pedophiles are ok and child grooming is a right.
And political prosecutions.
And race essentialism.
And more crony capitalism.
Desantis-style authoritarianism
Suderman is OK for some issues (healthcare, pop culture) but an annoying asshole in general. I’ll try it expecting the worst.
Seriously though.
I appreciate that Suderman is willing to hustle for some new content. But frankly I know all about his and ENBs, and Britschgi’s and everyone else’s issue hobby horses. They write about them constantly.
Reason just finished two weeks of videos bringing up the same tired statements over and again to “analyze” the rise of the Mises Caucus. This was after 5 years of them going state by state winning elections until they took the LP party without more than a passing mention.
The same staff spent a week telling San Franciscans that their concerns about crime in the city were judged unfounded by the NYT. And then some staff wondered aloud why Ohio would give readers the right to carry weapons for self defense.
With all due respect, the world doesn’t need to know more about Reason staff. The staff needs to get out and learn about the world.
"The staff needs to get out and learn about the world."
This should be on the masthead and the subject of the next donation drive.
I still think the long tail of staff is interesting. The problem is they mostly are actual editors, in the sense that they mostly actually edit the magazine, or otherwise are involved with long form magazine pieces which come less frequently and thus are sort of negatively biased in our thinking about what the magazine represents.
Will Suderman go that far out? I don't know. I'm trying to give him the benefit of the doubt, as I try to get past my opinion that Suderman specifically is tiresome.
He is knowledgeable about certain policy issues, but I do admit I find all but the briefest discussion of cocktails or the Marvel cinematic universe to be tiresome.
On the other hand, I’d listen all day to discussion about colorful baseball and basketball players from the long gone past, but I know others would find it tiresome.
The Fifth Column is technically not a part of the Reason Journalistic Universe (RJU).
They aren't actual editors, the deal is that if you call a writer an 'editor' they don't get the writer's guild protections.
They can't. Life doesn't exist outside their blue-haired-checkmark bubbles.
Something did an island map with Trump's win in 2016 and it remains the most revealing map of just how enclosed they live.
Suderman is out to push MAP acceptance given his pro pedophile stance everytime the issue has come up in the last 4 years.
No thanks

Abortion protestors try to enter and break windows of arizona Capitol building while legislators were meeting. Insurrection? Get the emails of all dems who made comments about protests? J6 standards?

It's never insurrection when they do it.
They were just trying to protect abortion, our most sacred of rights.
No.
