Roger Pielke Jr.: We Are Successfully Adapting To Climate Change
The findings of the newest IPCC report on the future of the planet—called a "code red" for humanity—have been wildly distorted.

When the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) released its highly anticipated report on global warming in early August, U.N Secretary-General António Guterres declared it "a code red for humanity," insisting that "the alarm bells are deafening, and the evidence is irrefutable: greenhouse-gas emissions from fossil-fuel burning and deforestation are choking our planet and putting billions of people at immediate risk."
Guterres' "code red" language was echoed by many reporters and activists, some of whom called humanity "guilty as hell" of "climate crimes." Others prophesied that the climate news was only going to get worse and that we faced a choice of immediately passing the Green New Deal or death.
Roger Pielke Jr., a professor of environmental studies at the University of Colorado, thinks such reactions are not only wrong but "irresponsible." Pielke believes that temperatures are rising in response to human activity, but he also argues that the alarmism dominating the climate discussion is counterproductive. "Nowhere does the IPCC report say that billions of people are at immediate risk," he says, stressing the gap between what's actually in the report and the highly politicized way we discuss climate change.

I have never believed what my government has told me, about climate change or anything else. From the time I was born till now. First it was General Westmoreland lying about casualty counts during the Vietnam war, to the CDC lying about....casualty counts. They lie about everything.
You can count on government to provide misinformation.

The Industrial Revolution was a successful adaptation to climate change. The Earth was much, much hotter before mammals came along. It was much, much colder after mammals showed up. Burning fossil fuels, especially to power machines (and especially machines such as fans, air conditioners, and electric generators) was a successful adaptation to both extremely hot and cold climates.
"Burning fossil fuels, especially to power machines (and especially machines such as fans, air conditioners, and electric generators) was a successful adaptation to both extremely hot and cold climates"
No, mammals, unlike reptiles, can regulate their own heat, so they are adapted to living in hot and cold. There's bears, oxen, mice, foxes and people who have adapted to arctic conditions without using electric fans and whatnot. Hot climates have a far greater profusion of plants and animals, including people.
trueman has an inability to understand advanced concepts in logic, such as "non-sequitur", hence we get bullshit like his supposed answer above.
Evidence would suggest he doesn't understand even simple concepts in logic that our *completely* undeducated ancestors figured out on their own 10k years ago.
Good God. So stupid it doesn't even deserve a response. But, I'm gracious so here you go: spend 10 yrs. in S. California, where humans live but Ursus Maritimus doesn't then go spend 10 yrs. swimming around with Ursus Maritimus, even just in places where humans do live, and get back to us... if you're not dead. You. Dumb. Fuck.
I'm not sure what you're driving at. Perhaps if you expressed yourself more clearly, it would help. My point is simple. Humans and other mammals have been able to adapt to hot and cold extremes for 1000s of years before the industrial revolution.
Lefties piss their diapers over the smallest events and their wailing makes everything seem like danger. Social media is just a megaphone to amplify and distort their nonsense. But yay free speech right. As long as you agree with amoral billionaires.
"As long as you agree with amoral billionaires."

"Spouting nonsense is an end in itself."
>>Pielke believes that temperatures are rising in response to human activity
nobody who leads with this is worth my time thanks.
We have been adapting to climate change for the lat 300k years
Our Stone Age ancestors were able to adapt to much larger climate changes. We'll be fine.
The last 300k years of adaptation was just weather.
"the alarm bells are deafening, and the evidence is irrefutable: greenhouse-gas emissions from fossil-fuel burning and deforestation are choking our planet and putting billions of people at immediate risk."
These are not the words of a scientist. They are bullshit politics from a fascist.
If true, then we should end all fossil-fuel burning now. Not next week, but now. Shutdown all coal power plants, and gas stations today.
When you say that they usually push back. That's how you know it's not an emergency. They just want a wealth redistribution game that robs current energy production to pay for pet green projects.
"If true, then we should end all fossil-fuel burning now. "
It's not feasible. If you were to switch to nuclear to replace fossil fuels it would take some 20 years if construction of the nuclear plants started tomorrow. Transport would be hard hit. Air transport would come to an end. Your proposal is disingenuous, or as the French piquantly say, faux naif.
"They just want a wealth redistribution game that robs current energy production to pay for pet green projects."
They want the reduction of greenhouse gases and socialism is probably the only way to get it. An alternate is complete economic collapse, a civilizational collapse, which environmentalists hope to avoid. My guess is that you are willing to bet that economic collapse won't happen in your lifetime, and see no reason to sacrifice anything for something you won't face.
"...They want the reduction of greenhouse gases..."
Not a bit of evidence, but that's never stopped trueman.
Things are so good former President Obama bought a mansion on Martha’s Vineyard that is slightly above sea level.
And former Secretary of State Kerry has resumed galavanting around the globe on a private jet.
When the H'wood lefties occupying the Malibu beachfront 'cottages' start shorting them, and start demanding nuclear power, we can begin to think they might be serious.
Pielke Jr. is , to put it mildly, not a first-string environmental scientist . As a polemicist , he's not quite as egregious as Willie Soon or Marc Morano, but his metier is discounting the cost of past climate policy mistakes ,and denying the need for any analysis more thoughtful than ….what's the name of those two dudes from Witchita thatincreasingly pay the bills around here ?
He has about as much chance of derailing Big Climate's broadband COP26 campaign as Lord Monckton.
And yet it seems his prognostications are better than the catastophists'
Some scientists are still willing to examine facts:

Expect him to be excommunicated in a week or two.
Most climate scientists answer to that desciption, and plenty of them are concerned about media hype as well, witness this sober response to some of the End Is Neigh rhetoric comong out of UN eminentos like Guterres :

Well, it seems "most climate scientists" are not making their voices heard; the major news sources always lead with catastrophists' dire predictions.
Don't you think we need those like Pielke to moderate that "PANIC" bullshit?
"Don’t you think we need those like Pielke to moderate that “PANIC” bullshit?"
No we need something better-- moderators unencumbered by bullshit of their own.
So the problem is REASON magazine?
How............
pathetic.

You can not even hope for immoral billionaires. They do not care what is happening in the world, they do not care about people who live worse than them. The only areas of interest are casino games https://bestcasinonewzealand.net , booze and travel to the best resorts. We can only rely on ourselves.
