The Pope Slams Libertarians & Trump's 'Skinny Budget' Be Damned [Reason Podcast]
Reason editors Katherine Mangu-Ward, Stephanie Slade, and Peter Suderman discuss the week's news.
"The president's budget…is never a real budget," says Reason's Peter Suderman. "Usually what happens is there's a showdown and then we get more spending anyway. This [time we got to skip]…the showdown and just get to the more spending."
On today's episode of the Reason podcast, Suderman join fellow Reason editors Katherine Mangu-Ward and Stephanie Slade to discuss the Pope's claim that libertarianism is the root of all evil; the five-month budget deal to keep the federal government running while boosting spending across the board (the so-called skinny budget be damned); Filipino President (and human-rights abuser) Rodrigo Duterte's invitation to the White House (Trump has an affinity for strongmen); the White House Correspondents' Dinner ("the molten hot core of Washington cocktail party-dom"); the latest on repealing and replacing Obamacare (Trump seems to have no idea what's in the latest bill); the Bret-Stephens-New-York-Times-op-ed-page kerfuffle; and whether the Hulu adaptation of Margaret Atwood's The Handmaid's Tale offers a glimpse at where the U.S. is headed (thankfully, probably not).

the Pope's claim that libertarianism is the root of all evil
Always picking on the little guy. Also, what the fuck?
Commies and theocrats alike are troubled by the ideas of decentralization and self-determination; theocratic commies doubly so.

I'm making over $7k a month working part time. I kept hearing other people tell me how much money they can make online so I decided to look into it. Well, it was all true and has totally changed my life.

" Pope's claim that libertarianism is the root of all evil"
Wasn't the original sin committed when Adam and Eve disobeyed God to eat from the tree of knowledge? Sounds pretty libertarian to me.
I mean it's a simple question of property rights, God must have owned Eden because he evicted the tenants.
"the molten hot core of Washington cocktail party-dom"
And you Reason folks would know, amirite?
I think Francis might be poping wrong.
Hey, he got the worldwide left off of the Church's dick about the whole molestation thing, and it's not like he's donated all the Vatican's swag to Goodwill or whatever.
To me, it looks like he is always playing with an invisible yoyo.
RE: The Pope Slams Libertarians & Trump's 'Skinny Budget' Be Damned
As I stated on a previous post, when the Pope starts giving billions of the Church's money to the "poor and the oppressed," then he can start talking about how governments spend their money.
In the meantime, he should STFU.
When the Pope starts attempting to do that, he will likely be found dead in his chambers and a new papal election put into process. The Vatican takes a dim view of popes interfering in its financial affairs.
I will keep saying this everytime you post about him ---- Fuck.The.Pope.
Nothing embodies authoritarianism and servitude to the state quite like the pope. I have never in my life given two shits about what the pope thinks, and am not about to start now, outside of telling him to go fuck himself.
Who has the Pope imprisoned?
Pope Francis? Presumably none. He is an "authoritarian" in that he believes in authoritarianism, but he lacks the power to do much about it (other than consorting with dictators).
Past Popes did imprison and murder with some regularly, but more often than not, simply ordered their worldly rulers to do their dirty work for them.
God, I love being a Methodist. XD
Man with hat has no power over me!
I REALLY love being a Buddhist. No worries about hell at all. Unless it's here on earth.

NEWS! The Pope is not an American citizen.
Mr. Pope spend some of that CHURCH money to advance your agenda for the poor and downtrodden. I am not Roman Catholic, so don't expect me to do your work.
