Government Gone Wild! "Libertarian Chick" Kristin Tate Reveals How DC Politicians Are Screwing Everyone Over
Think you're really "free'? #LOL
"It sounds nice to say things like, 'Oh, I really want to help the poor and everyone deserves free college and health care'," says Kristin Tate, political columnist at The Libertarian Chick blog and author of the new book Government Gone Wild: How D.C. Politicians Are Taking You for a Ride—and What You Can Do About It. "But in reality, getting people hooked on the government and not giving them pathways to becoming self-sufficient is not compassionate."
Tate sat down with Nick Gillespie to talk about her new book—which she has designed to be a libertarian manifesto for millennials—and why the 2016 election wants to make her "projectile vomit." "I don't really see any liberty-friendly candidates," Tate laments.
She also stresses that libertarians need to "shine a spotlight" on the idea that getting people hooked on government programs is not a compassionate position and how focusing on individual liberty can create an uplifting message that will appeal to millennials and voters of all ages.

Would.
Yes, I'd read her book, too.
Prevert.
I'd love to tap that book.
Oh, cum on now, 'fess up... Even YOU, Notorious one, even YOU, I bet, would allow her to help you polish your monocles... (Can I watch?)
I'll be in my artisanal, Somalian oak, orphan-crafted bunk.
Polishing the monocle, eh?
disciplining the orphan
(that's supposed to be a masturbation euphemism... I'm not trying to light the OMWC signal)
She had me at, "Obviously, Hillary and Bernie are the two worst choices in my opinion."
sooooooo hawt
Hitlary, Comrade Bernie, He Who Trumples on our Liberties, and The Ted are clearly the 4 worst choices our two-part Party of Government Almighty could have come up with, yes...
I came here to say the thing. Definitely would...
Should have read the comments before posting. Totally would.
It's worth repeating.
my neighbor's sister-in-law makes $74 /hour on the laptop . She has been unemployed for five months but last month her income was $19025 just working on the laptop for a few hours. why not find out more ?????? http://goo.gl/JNLxe5
Glad we have video evidence that this one exists as opposed to an earlier one.
I can see what your saying... Carrie `s st0rry is great, on monday I bought themselves a BMW 5-series from bringing in $7179 this - four weeks past and-a little over, ten k lass month . with-out a doubt this is the easiest work Ive ever done . I actually started six months/ago and pretty much immediately began to bring home at least $72, p/h . browse this site....

I watched for a minute...totally got the creeper stalker vibe from The Jacket.
He wasn't stalking her, he was doing research for the interview!
As much fuss is made about Robby's hair, IMO, Nick's has been welded in place and the same uniform Testors 1139TT Semi-Gloss Black for well past any believable amount of time.
He insists on the drapes matching the Jacket.
Ok now that there is funny
Well who says it can't be a three piece suit? 😉
We've been making fun of Robby's hair? I thought it was legitimate adoration.
IT IS FOR SOME OF US.
BOW DOWN BEFORE ME!
Do you have a matching twin, or was he mowed down by a razor-wielding assassin?
I was actually kinda lookin' forward to the return of the jacket....
The Jacket will return when the stars come right, and the veil between our sane, rational universe and the eldritch horror beyond are at their thinnest. I?! I?!
Election Day 2016?
Prediction:
This thread is going to be super classy.
General Rule: Early predictions on threads-gone-wild are almost always wrong.
The classiest!
Everyone admires my class!
TIWVPHU (This is why Virginia Postrel hates us)
The best acronyms are the ones you have to explain afterwards
Totally stealing that, Irish.
Also, is there a new rival for your affections, here? This chick seems classier than Lauren Southern.
You act like I just jump from woman to woman and I resent the implication
it's the implication.
Where did you send it the first time?
I put the ass in class.
You put your ass in everything. That paella you made? Nasty.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=myVZGX4eJdQ
It might even be less classy than the Youtube thread for the video... I'm going to microwave some popcorn.
Some of those youtube comments are so fucking derptastic.
Uh-oh, they figured us out!
Only Hollywood actors should speak about politics.
Heh.
I thought she did sounded mature. Just kidding. I haven't done watched the video yet.
And when you do watch it, it'll be with the sound off the first few times, right?
It'll be yuuugest, classiest. most opulent thread ever, believe me!
"She also stresses that libertarians need to "shine a spotlight" on the idea that getting people hooked on government programs is not a compassionate position and how focusing on individual liberty can create an uplifting message that will appeal to millennials and voters of all ages. "
Don't think that'll be effective, just like talking about "diversity", "compassion" is locked up in too many people's minds at this point (including conservative ones).
To be fair, I don't think much of anything will be effective to spread libertarian ism at this point.
http://arstechnica.com/science.....he-wealth/
Yeah, its not.
Come by and join me (as 'Incunabulum') as I try to futilely point out the economic misconceptions that the majority of Ars commenters have.
This does explain the Democratic support for the $15 minimum wage...
Come by and join me (as 'Incunabulum') as I try to futilely point out the economic misconceptions that the majority of Ars commenters have.
No thanks, I can think of many more fun methods of self abuse than that.
Go on...
"I'm a dude, just give me a couple of Popsicle sticks and a rubber band and I'll find a way to fuck it like a filthy McGyver!"
Ars commenters are pretty pathetic. They consider calling a person or concept "republican" to be a finishing move.
Also, for a bunch of techies they really like "net neutrality". Pointing out that the name is a misnomer and it was voted for by three partisan political appointees is not popular.
I've often marveled at the tech forum support of NN, but then I remember who tech forum commenters tend to be and I'm no longer mystified.
At least some of them seem to feel a pang or two about Hillary's e-mail issues because they can't escape their own knowledge and the fact that a bunch of them actually seem to have held clearances or still do.
"Also, for a bunch of techies..."
Hypothesis: Many Ars Technica readers are just people who like to put forth a tech-saavy image, similar to the "I fucking love science" crowd, who post Neil DeGrasse Tyson memes and pretty photographs of nebulae and believe that this makes them scientific geniuses.
You're actually trying to reason with Ars commenters on economics? Why don't you try to tell them Net Neutrality is a bad idea, while you're at it?
I tried. 'But its *fair*!'
I tried to read the comments there but got frustrated the second time you were ordered to "move to Somalia".
Yeah, she pretty well nailed it. Government pretends to be a compassionate caregiver trying to ameliorate people's pain, but it's just a drug dealer trying to get them hooked so it can pimp them out.
Government: not even once.
Hilariously, if she had said something like, "It's nice that we want to be compassionate but getting the government involved to help people use the proper restroom isn't compassion." Reason probably wouldn't have run the article/video.
I bet you would have supported Jim Crow
You'd like that, wouldn't you.
I wouldn't support Jim Crow, but I would support his cousins, Heckle and Jeckle.

This Vox piece is an excellent takedown of liberal smugness. Defintiely worth reading.
http://www.vox.com/2016/4/21/1.....liberalism
"They tend to do it in the comment section, under an article about how conservatives are difficult to persuade because they isolate themselves in mutually reinforcing information bubbles."
That is some solid mockery. Well done.
It's too bad there isn't a comments section - it would be wildly entertaining.
Is it just me, or is Vox starting to, sometimes, scratch the surface of making sense?
Keep browsing around, you'll find plenty of Vox's traditional Sadbeard-style idiocy.
I have to give them credit for this one, though. I'm stunned that they published it, because it's nothing less than an evisceration of their core audience and the gentry left as a whole. I'm guessing they're going to get a metric asston of outraged emails for this one.
a metric asston of outraged emails
Thus proving their point, like when jihadis kill people to protest Islamophobia.
Here, enjoy this classic derp about the unbearable racism of Tiny Fey and Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt. I can't even.
http://www.vox.com/2016/4/19/1.....e-season-2
My wife watches that show. It's not bad. Way better than yet another episode of "Fixer Upper" on HGTV.
Anything beats HGTV
I seem to recall them publishing some sane articles on trade and maybe even the minimum wage recently.
Moynihan, Welch and Fisher touched on the smug, exasperated Bernie supporter in Brooklyn on their most recent podcast. I was a victim of some of that myself in a hipster enclave further north. It is funny how much of a clich? those people are.
But they're only a cliche because they're brilliant and everything they say is true, stupid teabagger
I was dismissively called right-wing. I laughed.
Why do you hate brown people? Too much hanging out with Irish?
I got a couple paragraphs in and so far it is absolutely savage. Will definitely have to finish reading on the shitter later.
yeah be sure to read the whole thing it's pretty fantastic.
Towards the middle-end the author makes a come-back to some of the evangelic lefts core values of climate change and other people's money. It takes time to fully recover after a traumatic brain injury, but I'm hopeful for this patient.
Then again, I'll fully admit I don't really respect the progressive left but that's more because of what they've actually done versus what some meme on facebook said about it.
Let the record show that the lady also favors individual rights for women. As God's Own Prohibitionists swim away from the party their coercive bigotry has holed in the hull, more and more "stealth" fanatics are coming to the LP--not with votes--but rather, with ways to kid ourselves into believing that sending men with guns out to force women to bear unwanted but brainwashable offspring "isn't really" aggression.
Howcum Reason tracks every detail of what the looter party candidates are fer or agin', yet says nothing about the actual position on issues of LP wannabees? Where's the comparison table?
that was pretty good.
Wow, that was extremely thoughtful and well done.
No matter your political persuasion, it's important to avoid being an egotistical know-it-all and profiling your opponents as Neanderthals.
There is, of course, a smug group of liberals and a smug group of conservatives and a smug group of libertarians; but the smug group of liberals has certainly seized the national media and pop culture.
Those aren't liberals. Liberals formed a party in 1930 to repeal prohibition and all other religious laws banning condoms, diaphragms, drugs... "Liberal" was to German National Socialists a curse word they spat out, much like "Jew." In their own eyes the nazionalsozialists were Christian centrists, kinda like the Republicans. This, incidentally, is all over newspaper archives, party platforms and books like Mein Kampf. Nazis profiled liberals (free market libertarians) as godless Neanderthals no better than their fellow international socialists to the East.
They tend to do it in the comment section, under an article about how conservatives are difficult to persuade because they isolate themselves in mutually reinforcing information bubbles.
Projection: it's not just for movie theaters anymore!
These assclowns have absolutely no self awareness at all do they? They just lurch from one emotion to another and spew whatever garbage comes first to their brain, regardless of whether or not makes sense.
Coercing women into increasing your tribe makes perfect sense if you know as a matter of Revealed Faith that The Coming Rapture is certain to solve the overpopulation "problem" manufactured out of whole cloth by atheist biologists.
I've never heard of this Rensin chap. Did Klein and Yglesias hire him by mistake? And is he trying to get himself fired? It seems like he's trashing about 90% of their readership.
Nah if you get into actual policy, he's convinced Income Inequality is the biggest problem of our age, Conservatives are equally smug about Climate Change and will be totally flustered when Disaster Comes, and it is the destruction of Strong Labor Laws that caused poverty, so whycome we not fix THAT?
Basically, it reads like an economic leftist going ham on SJWs for focusing on Culture Wars and insulting the electoral base of Economic Left, scorching the earth into the bargain.
Still a good article.
I actually agree that income inequality is a problem, but mostly because so many other people think it is a problem, and eventually are going to reach for the torches and pitch forks.
I think my favorite part is where the author of the piece essentially admits that he only noticed this because they turned on him in some discussion he was having with a peer. Who said nothing good comes from them eating their own?
Of course, I probably disagree with that author on a lot of things (climate change among them) but that's because these opinions are a side-effect of what the author rightfully calls knowing which is a rather sly way of saying they don't yet still claim to.
she seems reasonable.
Just make sure your hands stay idle, bud.
Not everyone is a member of an anti-masturbation religion, Eddie.
GO AWAY! VENIAL SINNIN'!
I'm so glad others are making that joke now. Good stuff 😛
Ron and Randall Paul seem reasonable, but they want men with guns to force gals to carry unwanted pregnancies to term. The lady president of Brazil is being impeached because the Speaker of the House has stirred up a lynch mob of klannish mystics with torches and pitchforks.
It's hard to picture libertarianchick as an antichoice mole.
This has got to be a fake, I was told by someone who was an authority on the subject that there are no libertarian women.
Oh and would but only after securing enthusiastic and positive consent before each and every action
She's libertarian, consent is implied.
Consent might be implied, but possession of a firearm definitely is.
She's a libertarian, if she doesn't consent the pepper spray and activation of the retribution clause with her contracted security company will let you know if you've gone too far.
I kept waiting for Nick to go all Austin-Powers/Pull the mask off/There are no Libertarian Women - That's a Man, Baby!
When that happens its more Crying Game than Austin Powers.
She seemed like an interesting and informative person, and I liked much of what she had to say.
HE DIDNT EVEN TURN THE SOUND ON
I can't believe he took his eyes off of Nick. Now, if it was John...
Please excuse me while I pick my jaw up off the floor.
Helloooooo, nurse!
For a sec., looking at the title, I thought it was going to be about something done in the style of Chick Publications. (I have in mind doing an instructional comic strip like that some day on Odinism.)
Chick *is* amazing.
In the unlikely event none of you have seen this yet.

Huh, there's two of them.
Ideas always sound better when spoken by a beautiful young woman, don't they?
Is that how you got into pegging?
She might be able to get me to listen to the entire pitch when a homelier gal would get cut off after the first sentence, but that's it. It's still DOA. Were I gay, I'd totally have to be the pitcher and not the catcher.
Ha.
Pegging involves a woman, so there is nothing gay about it. If you have any further interest I can have Citizen X send you some of my instructional videos (he currently has all of them).
Yes, I understand that. My ultimate point was that, no matter who is back there, man or woman, ain't no one accessing my pooper. Trust me, I've seen and smelled what comes out of there. No one should access such a foul dimension.
Chip, you seem to know a lot about pegging. Don't be ashamed. Citizen X has the equivalent of black belt in pegging (more like a brown belt, am I right?) and we still kind of like him.
Well, try as one might, it's impossible to filter out everything you don't want to see from your search results at PornHub.
THEY'RE FOR AN ART PROJECT.
In shades of brown?
Maybe a little green and flecks of yellow?
I swear I only watched for her ideas.
Or a wide-awake Austin, out-debating two kindly but wrinkly geezers.

I've made $64,000 so far this year working online and I'm a full time student. Im using an online business opportunity I heard about and I've made such great money. It's really user friendly and I'm just so happy that I found out about it. Heres what I do,

Local community organizers protest a marijuana shop, weave word "justice" into chants.
http://www.seattletimes.com/se.....-pot-shop/
"the place of our ruin is a street called Union"
Is he aware ruin doesn't rhyme with Union?
"The main problem with Ike's, according to protest organizers, is that it was permitted next door to the Mount Calvary Christian Center church and about 250 feet from its Joshua Generation Teen Center.
That's too close, said the church's Pastor Reggie Witherspoon Sr. "My kids' lives are more important than a dollar bill.""
LOL, progressives have officially become social conservatives
"Become"?
So that rapper is all 'bout 'dem kids, which is why his music is listed as (Warning: explicit language).
I'd listen to it, but I'm at work yo!
I never understood this obsession over the physical proximity of "icky" places (gun stores, strip clubs, and now pot shops) to "chillun" places (churches, schools, community centers, etc.).
So what if there's a gun store within 1000 feet of a school? It's not like that makes it possible for the kids to go in there and buy the guns.
Good god the comments on her website are fucking creepy.
"I am always impressed when an attractive woman know what she is talking about, although it is rare. "
This guy knows the way to a woman's heart - impugning her gender
this guy gets it.
HAHAHAHAHHAHA
This is the only comment to her most recent post
"You were awesome last night. I like you. You write great and you put it out there really good.Keep up the good work.If your ever in Florida your welcome in my home or go to dinner. I like a smart woman. Just to talk with you would be so nice. Keep up the great work.
Lenny"
Of course his name is Lenny. Fuckin' Lenny.
Lenny's a stalker
"Hi Kristen, I lost a friend because he could not handle the truth about only black lives matter. Just mark it up for the truth hurts. You a beautiful woman and you do not need to be apologetic about it. I believe many life styes are the problem with people today. They drink and smoke and even do drugs. This will age a person.I am always accused of looking much younger then I am because living a clean life is important. Your awesome your the kind of woman a guy like me could only dream of.
Lenny OX"
Okay, Lenny. I'm sure the ladies in Florida eat that shit up.
"Lenny" is a weird screenname for Rick Santorum to have chosen.
Is Lenny an actual ox, or is that just his avatar?
Jesus. She better not bring any pets or small children on that date.
He had to proofread carefully. Don't want to fuck another one up like the time he wrote "your welcome in my home to be my dinner"
Johnny Longtorso?
Johnny Longtorso doesn't have a kickass stew recipe like Johnny Longbow.....chicken, corn, green peppers, chiles....um....*sigh* onions.....
That reminds me, I have to get my bone enlongened.
PUA?
No offense guys - but this is something that women have to endure no matter what they look like.
Think back on all of you who kept harping on Clinton's 'cankles'.
Its one of the major reason that I prefer text to video. I don't get distracted by the person's appearance or presentation and can concentrate on the ideas they are putting out.
IfWhen I want to look at attractive women - I can see all I want online, doing and filthy and depraved act I can image. For free.

Some of us like our coffee a little stronger (NSFW) than others. Others find men/women doing depraved acts for money less actually depraved and more just acting depraved for money.
Either way, I'm pretty sure if you started an X-rated version of Reason, 'donations' would be through the roof and you could probably close down the actual Reason magazine in a matter of days.
Damn! Edit. (Still NSFW)

I skimmed. I also saw she attended Emerson College. Those people are the Oberlin of New England.

What about the comments on her website? What are they like?
They're just ok.
Some people need lessons in how to be creepy.
I couldn't imagine that they would be creepy or anything. I would guess that they're quite respectful.
Nathan . if you think Gloria `s posting is astonishing... yesterday I bought a brand new Land Rover Defender after bringing in $8648 this-past/5 weeks and even more than 10-k this past munth . with-out any question its the most-rewarding I have ever done . Check back here in a bit. I have faith in the commentariat, laboring as we do in the shadow of SugarFree.
They are moderated. I left one and it has not posted. Shucks.
Wait, she moderates the comments and those are the ones she let through?!?!?!
Apparently. I suggest you do a little casual stalking to figure out what is going on.
No one wants to hear about your voyeurs retreat at the nudist fat camp for the elderly.
It's a good thing her website doesn't not allow comments. They'd probably be creepy.
Kristin, first of all I just want you to know that I don't know any of these cads. Second, I think your point about millennials being socially liberal is somewhat true alhough there seems to be a nasty streak of puritanism coming from somewhere , however, I'm not so sure about the fiscally conservative part. They seem to buy in to the whole greedy versus poor bullshit spewed by people like Sanders. Wealth redistribution does not seem to be an issue for them. Third, damn.
Oh my.
It appears Ellison Barber has competition for my...uh...favorite talking head/journalist.
Uh oh.
I'm absolutely impressed by her optimism, although I admit I don't share it.
She keeps talking about how Ron Paul and libertarianism resonates with Millennials, but when we look at the rise of Trump and Sanders, it's not so clear that it resonates with Millennials in any greater percentage than the rest of the population, perhaps less so.
I agree that the younger generation does have a refreshing desire to want 'authentic' candidates, not the overly polished candidates with speak in talking points, but it appears they overwhelmingly chose Bernie Sanders as their authentic representative, not a liberty candidate.
"...the 2016 election wants to make her "projectile vomit."..."
Yeah, that pretty much sums it up.
Interestingly, I recently watched an Andrew Zimmern, Bizarre Foods, show. He was in L.A. and one of the features was David Tran or, more specifically, Huy Fong Siriracha hot sauce that David Tran makes. David Tran escaped from Vietnam with his family in 1974 and came to L.A. with nothing. He was a farmer in Vietnam who grew chilies and made hot sauce. So he did it in L.A. also, selling his hot sauce in China Town out of buckets to restaurants. Today he is a multi-millionaire with a an extremely successful business making hot sauce.
In the interview that Andrew Zimmern did with David Tran, as Mr. Tran was showing Andrew the huge--and I mean huge--manufacturing and warehouse facility, Mr. Tran said something very close to this: If you work hard today you will have a better tomorrow. If your tomorrow is not good then you didn't work hard enough today.
That's the message that the whiner millennials need to learn. If a poor farmer from Vietnam can come to America and become a millionaire by dint of hard and smart work then why can't any person born in America do the same? Oh wait. It's because they have been taught that they don't have to work to get rewards. And socialism proclaims exactly that same message. That's why so many people are fleeing Florida to get to Cuba.
So true, a guy like this can come from a communist shithole like Viet Nam, work hard and make a shitload of money and fucktard libs want to shut down his plant for bullshit environazi annoying reasons.
A lot of white Americans, mostly libtards who work for the government hate minorities, there is no other explanation for this behavior.
Sadly, I don't think millenials even grasp this.
These fucktards think their future is working for tha state. That they think this is pretty disturbing.
I ask my nieces who are millenials would they rather have a SS account or an account that they controlled like a 401 k.
TBF I was a lefttard 30 years ago. It's pretty obvious by now that te federal government is incompetent in basically everything they do. Here you go , progtards, give me an example of an efficient government program...I'll wait.
The chick is bright, unwrinkly and fluent in language, kinda like Petersen. All we need do is to kick the republican and anarchist infiltrators off the platform committee and shorten the platform correspondingly. These second-generation libertarians look like they can easily double our numbers to better than the prohibitionists and socialists put together in their own half-century. She even made Nick seem interesting!
Less than 4% of the votes cast saddled us with the IRS and DEA, and can get rid of the parasites just as easily.

"Spokespeople like this charming young lady are a good start, though."
Yeah, probably. At least to appeal to conservatives. From my (limited) observations, lefties seem to have almost vitriolic reaction to pretty white women speaking against the liberal/Dem party line.

Yes, they do, TK. See, women are supposed to be all caring and emotional.
Yeah, from my personal experience this is definitely a thing. But really, in the end, you don't want to make friends with people like that anyway. Sometimes it seems to me like women are the end of the party's rope and after they lose us, it'll be a quick fall to the bottom.

I think there's even more to it than them just not falling in-line though. I believe UCLA did a study showing that women in the GOP had more feminine faces than their Democrat counterparts. (You could just watch the ladies of Fox News and compare them to MSNBC, or read the comments whenever Sarah Palin or Michele Backman are in the news, of course, doing any of that is a terrible idea.)

Don't see that happening anytime soon, too many ugly gals (to put it mildly).
