Red Eye's Andy Levy on News, Satire, and Political Correctness
"To me, the best shows are when you're mixing it up…everything is more interesting when there's disagreement," says Andy Levy, co-host of Fox News Channel's Red Eye, which was described by the New Yorker as "an odd and often funny late-night show that is not exactly satire, and not exactly anything else, either."
Over the show's eight years (and counting), Levy's role has evolved from being the show's ombudsman, where he would humorously take panelists to task for errors and exaggerations, to being a full-time panelist and occasional guest host. He is beloved by fans of the show for his sardonic contrarian takes, his hilarious takedowns of both Chris Brown and Stephen Colbert, and despite his self-avowed libertarian streak, his refusal to be pigeon-holed into tribalist thinking.
Levy spoke with Reason TV's Anthony L. Fisher about Red Eye's unique place in the news and comedy worlds, the diverse politics of the show's panelists, guests that go "too far," and how the show will continue to evolve now that original Red Eye host Greg Gutfeld has left to host his own weekend show on Fox News Channel.
About 9 and a half minutes.

The progs disagree with him that there should be any disagreement.
If only someone would outlaw disagreement there would be world peace.
I make up to $90 an hour working from my home. My story is that I quit working at Walmart to work online and with a little effort I easily bring in around $40h to $86h? Someone was good to me by sharing this link with me, so now i am hoping i could help someone else out there by sharing this link... Try it, you won't regret it!......

Sheesh Fisher, tighten the knot.
Lol, too many people on Fox avow to their libertarian leaning without showing all that much. From my own perspective, Judge Napolitano does the best job and I haven't heard him say anything about it.
Andy Levy makes Red Eye a watchable show.
I agree. I like Levy. Gutfeld is sometimes funny but hardly libertarian.
I hope Levy lands the hosting gig or finds another decent spot. Probably writing for Kennedy. 🙁
He does a good job hosting. I'm getting the b
Vibe that the network will bring in someone else.
If disagreement is outlawed, only outlaws will disagree.
Wait, that's the way it is now. Never mind,
Let's get things correct here: It's TV's Andy Levy, not Red Eye's Andy Levy.
Thank you! C'mon Fisher, it isn't like you haven't been on the show.
Heh, I remember watching Redeye the first time .... it was too crude for me 🙂

Hit+Run really, really needs a "Flag as spam" button.
A "Bo Button" or "Tulpa Toggle" would increase annual donations by at least 50%.
How are they going to add that button when Tulpa changes his handle every other day?
Speaking of whom, I see Tulpa is continuing his high level of discourse in thirs thread from earlier today.
Man, I forgot how annoying Tulpa is. He's actually worse than Bo. He's like Bo if you added twenty years.
Then someone calls him stupid so this happened:
TULPA SO SMART NONE OF YOU AS SMART AS TULPA
A couple months ago I started to wonder if Bo was really Tulpa's masterpiece, a kind of long con. Then Tulpa came back and I remembered that Bo was never as insufferable or pissy as the Tulp.
It's a push. Bo isn't called Blue Tulpa for nothing.
Good Evening Peanuts!
Why do they bury 'Red Eye' at 3am EST? After repeats of Bill-O and HamHead Hannity? It would seem they would put something up against TDS at 11.
It was originally earlier, but it offended people...
"Put up against," as if they're competing for the same demo.
People wanting their biases pandered to by a likable face and his dozen staff writers vs. people wanting a parodic round-tabl forum poking irreverent fun at the inept commander in chief.
I think you have your answer.
Political correctness is horseshit.
I heard this from people today who are rooting for Packy because they don't like the other professional ass kicker--because he isn't a nice guy.
If you can't root for a nice guy to beat up someone less nice, that what *can* you root for?
"isn't a nice guy" is one way to say "evidently likes to beat women", I suppose. Though I admit I don't keep up with boxing.
That's the point.
We want people who beat people's faces in for money--to be nice guys.
Somewhere in there is the source of our society's political correctness.
We want our victims to be pure of heart, too. If he's a criminal, you're not supposed to feel sorry for him--when the cops kill him despite being unarmed.
I had some MMA poker buddies. They were initially street fighters. They used to pick fights in the parking lot for fun. Not nice guys. Bullies! But they were MMA fighters.
They beat the shit out of people for profit and/or fun.
Somehow, in our society, it's not enough to be the best fighter. You have to be a nice guy, too. Or everyone is supposed to hate you.
That's the stuff that political correctness is made of.
