Strawberry Cough: Biography of an Award-Winning Cannabis Strain
Now that the end of marijuana prohibition is on the horizon, artisans who have spent their careers in a gray market are finally emerging from the shadows. This is a story about the Strawberry Cough cannabis strain and a few of the entrepreneurs who are trying to build a successful small business selling it.
Strawberry Cough is one of the most celebrated cannabis strains in the U.S. today. The strain has won multiple awards, including best flower in the U.S. at the 2013 High Times Cannabis Cup. Kyle Kushman, a master cannabis grower and former cultivation editor at High Times magazine, is the man who took the powerful sativa strain from its obscure origins in Connecticut and brought it to the masses. Today, if you're looking for authentic high-quality Strawberry Cough, your best bet is to go to the Buds & Roses Collective, where Kushman has teamed up with Aaron Justis and Tyler Wadleigh to provide top-shelf cannabis for medical marijuana patients in Los Angeles.
Many pot lovers worry that legalization will lead to big corporations flooding the market with cheap, low-quality marijuana and driving the artisans out of business. Like the craft brewers who are currently thriving in an industry dominated by big corporations, however, the guys at Buds & Roses aren't concerned. After all, in California there is no shortage of cannabis connoisseurs happy to pay a premium for a superior product.

Freedom is like scary man.
Didn't take them long, did it?
Just like beer huh?
There's absolutely no market for artisanal weed. None.
And being a plant, growing your own strains will also be nearly impossible.
Mmmmmm. Smoked strawberries.
Strawberry Cough sounds good. Like the Lemon Kush I just smoked. Go Hawks!
Puff puff give... puff puff give!
WAKE AND BAKE
If the Rams score again I'm gonna plotz.
Is. . .is that like pooping?
At this point, yes.
In the event that big corporations flooded the market with cheap, low-quality marijuana that drove artisans out of business, it would only happen due to the preferences and consumption choices of pot buyers. Pot consumers' preferences are what would shape the market, not sellers' preferences.

Not if we can regulate them out of the business. Look, like getting the state out of the liquor business, there's a lot that can be done to slow down the private sector while providing cushy regulatory jobs and expanded roles to various government agencies.

Nah- the evil kkkorporate cannabis cultivators from Bayer will just send some guys to your house in the middle of the night to steal all your shit and disappear you. That's what kkkorporations do.

Mayhem in Keene, NH on the same day as its pumpkin festival.
I'm surprised neither the commentators or the newspaper writers found a way to blame Free Keene or the Free State Project.
Well, if there is one thing we can agree to hate, it's Massholes. And it's clear from the article that it's all their fault:
Imagine a Temporal Autonomous Zone consisting entirely of Steven Frenches.
If he's an English Major he needs to quit now.

Oddly (coming from Steele), he means this in a positive way

Debunking Myths About the Labor Force Participation Rate
http://politicsthatwork.com/bl.....n-rate.php
These same people think Democrats are economic masters of the universe BECAUSE STOCK MARKETS AND LINES AND DERP
and *we're* the partisan ones. right.
Oh that's awesome. I especially like the "income expended on the top 0.1%." Precisely how is the income "expended" on them?
What myths are you debunking from us or from Reason, exactly?
We're not republicans, and we understand simple numbers.
You're such a mendacious cunt, you know that?
That whole website is nothing but charts contrived to appear as though TEAM BLUE IS EVERYTHING GOOD AND JUST AND WONDERFUL
Its essentially = "what if we could Partisanize EVERYTHING"?
You, in other words.
I'm surprised they don't have "Earthquakes by President"
Yes. There are some misleading Team Blue! charts there. Stick to the one I linked to though.
Your link is bad, it takes me to a 5th graders homework.
It's BS:
"if you have 100 unemployed people, 90 of them get jobs and 10 of them go to Harvard, that is a drop in the participation rate. "
So what? Multiply participation rate (PR) with (1-unemployment rate) and you get fraction of people working -the real key to economic health. And with the rapid decline in PR we are in a worsening recession.
Fool.
The recession ended in 2009. You fail basic Econ.
The Crash of 2008 is still impacting us though.
Tell that to the millions of un- or underemployed. Pedantic moron.
Academic definitions do not a recession define. The employment rate and GDP per capita are better measures, and both are falling.
For you peanut shell:

From your link:
Three categories explain the bulk of the decrease in labor force participation. The proportion of those outside the labor force and attending school has risen by 0.8 percentage points (1.9 million people), the proportion collecting Disability Insurance has risen by 0.9 percentage points (2.1 million people), and the proportion of retirees increased by 1.2 percentage points (2.9 million people).
You won't hear Fat Rush admit that. TEAM RED talking points have been all about how bad the Obama economy is.
Er, you realize you see a bump in disability precisely because former workers who couldn't find jobs but qualified for disability chose that over unemployment, right?
And that people attending school aren't guaranteed to see the investment pan out?
And early retirement isn't exactly an indicator of a robust economy, either?
I'm not sure exactly what argument this debunks. Perhaps it's something you heard on Hannity? Ok, I don't watch Hannity, so I'll assume it's something you heard on Hannity.
Now let's talk about some numbers.
According to the Government's Own Statistics here are some numbers of people who are on SS disability-- classified as an odd "blind OR disabled"
In 1976 (1974 numbers were unusually high and suddenly dropped dramatically in their estimate of 1976), by age group, in thousands:
18-34: 276
35-49: 250
50-64: 384
Year 2010:
18-34: 599
35-49: 666
50-64: 645
What you see here represents a dramatic increase of 'working age' people dependent on social security.
cont'd
The SS's own remarks:
Two main factors contributed to the fairly rapid growth in applications from 2002 to 2004: (1) the downturn in the economy that began early in 2001 and (2) implementation of the signature proxy process3 that SSA introduced in June 2004. We presume that the current downturn caused the recent large increase in applications. During the continued economic slowdown, we project higher levels of unemployment, resulting in substantially more applications than the general trend suggests. We expect fewer applications as the economy recovers. Some of the earlier additional applications will be cases that would have applied in a later year, so, for a brief period, we expect fewer applications than the general trend suggests. In the longer term, we estimate that applications will grow roughly in line with overall population growth.
Why would a downturn in the economy increase the number of "disabled" people? Does a bad economy give you owies?
From the CBO:
http://www.cbo.gov/publication/21638
So... nothing to see here, move along?
I forgot to bold:
That jump, which significantly outpaced the increase in the working-age population during that period, is attributable to several changesin characteristics of that population, in federal policy, and in opportunities for employment.
You know, not to rub it in or anything.
