'America Has Ceased to Exist': Investment Guru Doug Casey on the Coming Economic Meltdown
"America is a marvelous idea, a unique idea, fantastic idea. I'm extremely pro-American. But America has ceased to exist," declares Doug Casey, an economist and author most recently of Right on the Money. He has also produced a new documentary called Meltdown America which predicts the economic and political unraveling of the U.S.
Casey recently sat down with Reason TV's Nick Gillespie to discuss the political, social, and economic challenges the US must conquer as well as lessons we can learn from failed states.

Casey, you are on the wrong side of history! Until, of course, history flips. And nooobody so it coming! It must've been a lack of regulation.
LOL. Precisely.
I propose that we move to have the Reason website declared a third world country, allowing us to petition the U.N. for aid. What say you, glibertarians?
Help, help, I'm bein' repressed!
You know who else spent a lot of time in Argentina?
I can see the violence inherent in the system!
Doug Casey is precisely correct, to an extent matched by very few libertarians. He really is the gold standard: he was even smart enough to back Harry Browne when Browne ran for office, and then ditched the less consistent and less strategically intelligent people who came after Browne. If you look up his comments on jury nullification of law, he also favors true individual freedom (the thing) and not just vapid "educational efforts" that never amount to anything.
A diamond in the rough. A man who comprehends the technological singularity, as well as the conflict between the state and legitimate humanity. A rare bird, indeed.
If "the libertarian movement" were comprised of people like Casey and Suprynowicz, (instead of the poseur "anarchists" who denounce "jury independence") we'd be already be living in "America, the idea" as Casey (properly) defines it.
Casey gets it 100% right on all fronts. I'm happier and wealthier to have read his works. Those who make fun of him are simply (and obviously) not intelligent enough to comprehend what he says.
Those who insult Casey aren't fit to be shine boys in his phyle. LOL
Casey has figured out that the path to wealth and independence is not preparing for an economic meltdown but writing books about it. Why is this self-serving b.s. even on Reason?
Mark22... Spot on. For some decades since I canceled my subscription to Case's "writings," I've been saying that he, much like others of his ilk,
"has predicted about 25 of the last 3 recessions."
You have to believe in unbridled altruism to think that 'gurus' like those actually are doing what they're doing for the 'good of the people.'
It's its own kind of cult. Unless you're a Believer, just like all the other cults.
