"Fox News contributor Erick Erickson suggested that businesses serving gay couples were 'aiding and abetting sin.'

Erickson continued his criticism of his Fox News colleague Kirsten Powers' recent USA Today column, in which Powers criticized 'homosexual Jim Crow laws' currently being debated in several state legislatures. Those laws would allow businesses to refuse service to gay customers for religious reasons.

There was a time when Christians simply refused to follow laws that conflicted with their faith, and if the state punished them for it, they greeted it as an opportunity to suffer for Christ, all the way up to martyrdom if necessary. Look at St. Sebastian, who was accused of being a coward when he refused to fight in the Roman army, only to reply that he had no problem with walking up to the enemy's front line unarmed, it was only committing violence that he refused to do.

Now they just bitch and moan about it but ultimately comply. Showing they don't actually believe in any of this stuff when push comes to shove... and their hope in Christ is only for this life, as Paul put it.

I would think that the same people who on SSM threads argue that SSM is a bad thing because we should be focusing on getting the state out of the marriage business altogether and/or that recognizing SSM would just mean expanding government goodies to a new group might be logically compelled to argue that this kind of voucher program is a bad thing since we should be focused on ending state support (and control) of education and/or that since we already have this sort of thing for colleges this would be an expansion.

The issue, from a libertarian position, is not only being forced to do something (of course, you are not forced to send a child to school either, you can homeschool or have no children, but the state will still make you pay for others' schooling) but that you are forced to pay for or subsidize others activities.
