University Investigates Islamic Student for 'White Fragility' Remark

Burn the witch!

Masuma KhanScreenshot via CBC Comedy / YoutubrProving once again that leftists who undermine protections for free expression on campus are planting the seeds of their own destruction, an Islamic student at a Canadian university will be investigated for making a remark about "white fragility" that a white male student found insulting.

Masuma Khan is an activist and student government leader at Dalhousie University. Recently, the student government declined to endorse Canada Day due to the country's legacy of colonialism—something no Canadian should be proud of, according to Khan.

"Be proud of this country? For what, over 400 years of genocide?" she wrote in a social media post, according to CTV News. "I stand by the motion I put forward. I stand by Indigenous students."

She also criticized the "white fragility" of conservative students who wanted Canada Day to be celebrated.

In response, Michael Smith, a graduate student at Dalhousie, "lodged an official complaint with the university." Since Khan sits on the committee that would normally hear such complaints, she has been temporarily removed pending a review of her offensive remark. The review should be completed in a couple of weeks.

Essentially, Khan is accused of making racist comments against white people, a notion she finds ridiculous.

"I don't think it's appropriate for the university to tell racialized students how they can talk about their lived experiences," said Khan. "Suggesting I should take some training about how to talk about racism, that's incredibly invalidating."

Invalidating, and stupid. But this is what happens when she hurt my feelings, burn the witch! becomes the dominant norm on campus. Of course such a regime would backfire on the left. It was only a matter of time before fed up conservatives, who are already outnumbered on campus, made use of the considerable administrative bureaucracy that exists for the sole purpose of making everybody comfortable. When the radicals gave up on free speech, they put themselves at greatest risk.

  • Dookert||

    are you kidding or are you serious? It is identical. Actually, it's worse because Canada's history is fairly docile compared to most of the world, especially the Middle East.

  • Zeb||

    Yeah, I'm not one to hold people responsible for the actions of their forebears, but it's pretty rich for a Muslim (presumably proud of her heritage) to be complaining about Canadian colonialism and conquest.

    Oh, 'Be proud of this country? For what, over 400 years of genocide?' wasn't smack talk?

    Lazy Canadians, get a little internal plumbing and electricity and you give up on the whole genocide thing! You'll never cleanse the world of infidels with Hockey!

    Funny, her CHOSEN religion's history on those issues is significantly worse than anything the West has considered ever.

    But, yes, spend so much time killing free speech and you can be your assured your targets will take notes and return fire.

    Do these people even know how Mohammed spent his whole life? Astonishing.

    From their POV, he spent his life bringing the most perfect religion to the masses.

    The whole religion seems like a farce. It's amazing that Mohammad can go to Allah about every single controversy and, lo and behold, Mohammad is in the right every single time. The story of Mormonism is more logical.

    Newsflash for Ms. Khan: look in the mirror. YOU'RE white! I've seen Sicilian nuns who have, in the part of their faces the habit doesn't cover, a much darker tan than you.

    The whole racial thing needs to go away. When I was growing up, there were 3 races. White, black, and Asian. People like Khan, and most Latinos for that matter, fall squarely into the white camp. And nowadays, you can spit into a cup and mail it to Ancestry.com and learn that your a mixture of everything. The latter makes sense, too, when you figure all of our ancestors walked out of Africa at some point.

  • Eidde||

    So what you're saying is, don't mess with Sicilian nuns?

  • CaveMan||

    They were migrating Asians.

  • Zeb||

    And we're all migrating Africans.

  • fatcyst||

  • Dookert||

    I know exactly what that link is pointing at without even visiting it and in no way is it definitive. Most specialists in the field doubt its veracity as the overwhelming amount of fossil evidence still points towards Africa. The key term is "modern" humans. There is no doubt that a lot of evolution took place after the species migrated from Central Africa but at what point and how to define "modern" I believe there is a lot of debate.

  • Trainer||

    Ah but she's a semite! Just like the Jews.

  • CaveMan||

    Khan is clearly Asian.

    "Racialized": Sounds like Khan was the only one racializing anything here.

    "Lived Experiences": As opposed to, what, dead experiences? What's the difference between a lived experience and any other experience?

    "Invalidating": You'd have to have some validity first...

  • sharmota4zeb||

    To a left-winger a lived experience is a single date point that is worth more than all other data points combined because it is the speaker's data point.

    WOO HOO! I'm on board.

  • Mitsima||

    Their jargon is a bit more tolerable once you accept the fact that words are meaningless to them. They don't use language to communicate like sentient beings, but to emote, like, well, like SJWs. If you can accept that rationality is not a component of newspeak its a little easier to suffer.

    https://goo.gl/xF9aXJ ("Professor Calls Reason Itself a 'White, Male Construct'")

  • p3orion||

    I don't think it's even emoting so much as just demonstrating they're "one of the group." Dogs do it by all peeing on the same lamppost.

    Alley cats don't die peacefully by a warm fire. The fact that this is where we are sucks. The fact that this person is bearing some of the results of it feels poetic and just.

  • colorblindkid||

    I know it's "xenophobic" as fuck, but move back to the country of your ancestors if you think the colonialist country you live in is such an evil fucking oppressive state built on racism. Is this woman not more free in Canada than every non-white majority country in the world? There's nothing at all inherently awesome or better about white people, and the singling out white people as being particularly "fragile" is indeed racist. It really is hard not to experience schadenfreude when watching these leftist fucktards reap the rewards of their absurd assaults on everything that made the free and prosperous world in which we live today.

  • Inigo Montoya||

    I say give in to the schadenfreude. Ms. Khan needs a reality check.

  • some guy||

    It's the only way to combat this small, vocal minority of SJWs on campus. Use the bureaucracy they built against them. Then it devolves into a culture war, which will reveal that they really don't have the numbers. Most students on campus just want to have fun and maybe learn something. They tacitly support the SJWs simply because they don't want to get targeted. But once it becomes clear that anyone can be targeted, the student body will firmly come down on the side of ending the bureaucracy because its a tedious buzzkill that prevents them from having fun and maybe learning something.

  • sharmota4zeb||

    The quickest way to get rid of a bad law or regulation is to enforce it consistently.

  • AndyWingall||

    she'd be more free in the US, considering the US has a Bill of Rights. I think I even once heard Noam Chomsky, that great left wing superhero to overweight girls and effeminate straight men worldwide, say that Muslims in the US are the freest Muslims in the world. Sucks to be free in a nation you hate.

  • AlmightyJB||

    Fuck the SJWs. The sooner that movement (which is nothing more than we hate all white hetro men) dies, the better. The proper response to these people is not "I'm sorry" or "What can we do?", It's STFU.

  • loveconstitution1789||

    I have had fun for years saying that when the whole PC obsession really kicked into gear.

    Most lefties expect you to bow down and when you don't, they really don't know what to do.

    America's only true colonies were Hawaii and Guam. Our islands in the Caribbean were all won through war from other colonizers, and we treated those colonies far better than the previous occupiers. America and Canada were themselves colonies. Blame Europe for slavery and colonialism, not America and Canada.

  • Zeb||

    In any case, it's history that can't be undone. And no one with a grievance can be made whole without harming other innocent people. It's fine to acknowledge the evils of the past (and the US and Canada have plenty when it comes to treatment of native people and other minorities), but we aren't out ancestors and you can't put the toothpaste back into the tube.

  • Rhywun||

  • loveconstitution1789||

    Especially after all those evil white men are long dead. I love to bring that up.

    Not single slave owner in the USA is alive today.

    Then the lefty might mention that those slave owners passed on their wealth from slavery to their kids who are alive today...so reparations are still good politics.

    Then I mention that Egyptians had slaves (Nubian brothers) as well as most African cultures enslaved losing tribes. Central and South American cultures has slaves. Civilizations in Asia had slaves. So they all passed wealth from slavery on to their kids.

    History is a powerful tool to shut these retards down.

  • ||

    But leftists don't have any game left other than identity politics

    Yeah, after we trounced them in the budget game, the social welfare game, the healthcare game, the domestic surveillance game, the foreign wars and aid game, the education game... this is the only game they've got left and they're getting trounced again!

    Filipino's would probably give you grief about that comment. Read up, it was a nasty and brutal affair.

  • colorblindkid||

    As with the Caribbean islands, we won the Philippines in a war, as most territory around the world has always been divvied out. We didn't colonize them, and it was only a few decades after we acquired them before we gave them more independence than the Spaniards had ever given them.

    America also lost 80,000 troops defending the Phillipines from the Japanese, who were far more brutal than America or Spain, and we let them declare full independence shortly after the war with no opposition. There's a reason The Philippines have the most positive opinion of America of any country in the world.

  • gclancy51||

    Ahm... Philippines?

    Yeah, I didn't get the "legacy of colonialism" thing either. I don't know much about Canadian history, but I have a feeling their westward expansion wasn't as violent as ours in the U.S. At any rate, she's attending a (well-regarded, apparently) university founded by the oppressors, so they couldn't have been all bad, eh?

    The only reason we know anything of Native American history is because the Europeans introduced written language to the continent (The Meso-Americans had a crude written language, I know). 98% of the Native Americans died without ever seeing a white man, due to the accidental introduction of smallpox. It was an unfathomable tragedy, and there were several instances of localized genocides and atrocities by the colonialists, but the Native Americans were doomed the second there was any contact between the Old and New World and the vast majority of it wasn't intentional.

It's like some idiot who thinks he can use Title IX to help out men in some kind of unbalanced situation.

    As a result, republicans are going to screw around and ultimately have identity politics accepted as a reasonable and legitimate battleground. But, it will still be a battleground where they are guaranteed to lose virtually every fight.

The scariest part of this entire movement is the actual intent is the elimination of individual freedom to be replaced by government control. The real battle will be who controls that government. The US should watch Canada closely because since they lack the Constitutional protections we have, we can see the actual outcomes of progressive, Marxists in action.
