Russia has banned radio and TV stations from broadcasting beer ads between 7 a.m. and 10 p.m. It has also prohibited beer companies from using people, animals or cartoon characters in their ads. And it has banned ads that could make it seem as if beer drinking will make someone healthy, wealthy or sexy. In the 1990s, Russian lawmakers enacted similar prohibitions on vodka ads. Those eventually developed into a full ban on advertising vodka.
