Singers Withdraw from Boy Scout Jamboree over Gay Policies
So don't call her, maybe
"Call Me Maybe" singer Carly Rae Jepson announced Tuesday that they will not be playing at the Boy Scouts of America's 2013 National Scout Jamboree this summer because of the Scouts' ban on LGBT members and staff. According to the Gay and Lesbian Alliance Against Discrimination (GLAAD)'s website, Jepson and the band Train have both pulled out of their scheduled performances at the Jamboree, which takes place every four years, and is scheduled to take place in 2013 at The Summit Bechtel Family National Scout Reserve in West Virginia.
Following a pair of Change.org petitions launched by GLAAD and gay Eagle Scout Derek Nance asking the two acts not to appear at the Jamboree, Train announced on Friday that it would only perform if the Scouts changed their anti-gay policy.
