Labor Activists Protest Against Argentina's Government
The authoritarian regime is running out of friends
Thousands of left-wing labor activists descended on the Argentine capital Wednesday to call for lower income taxes and register disapproval of with the government's economic policies.
"We say no to the workers' tax. Yes, to family allowances for all," read one massive banner at the Plaza de Mayo, not far from the government offices of President Cristina Kirchner.
The demonstration follows massive protests last month as well as a 24-hour general strike, as the country suffers a staggering economic slide.
