Television Coverage? We Don't Need No Stinkin' Television Coverage
Venezuela's National Commission of Telecommunications shut down U.S.-based Telemundo's coverage of the nation's presidential election. Officials told network executives they didn't have permission to transmit. When execs asked how they could get permission, they were told they could not transmit. Earlier, President Hugo Chavez has said he regretted not shutting down the country's private TV networks after an attempted coup against him and indicated he might support a referendum to close private TV stations.
