Cory Booker Being Sworn in to Senate Today

New junior senator from New Jersey

Cory Booker, who became a rising star in the Democratic Party as mayor of Newark, has come to Washington.

Booker, 44, will be sworn in as a U.S. senator at noon Thursday. He won a special election Oct. 16 to fill out the term of the late Sen. Frank Lautenberg. Vice President Joe Biden will conduct the ceremony in the Old Senate Chamber.
