Brickbat: Sins of the Father
Sheriff's deputies in Seminole County, Florida, forced their way into the apartment of Victor Gordillo Jr. after a mix-up with local police, who were actually seeking his father. Victor Gordillo Sr., born 23 years earlier, was wanted for stealing $120 worth of frozen shrimp from a supermarket. Body camera footage shows deputies forcing their way into Gordillo's home, tackling him to the floor, and handcuffing him as his wife and children screamed. Gordillo, an Army Reservist of two decades, already had multiple injuries, and officers appeared to injure his leg during the scuffle; he was later taken to the hospital for treatment. The sheriff's office says the deputies were reprimanded and retrained.

The office of Circuit 18 State Attorney William Scheiner declined to prosecute the alleged shoplifting case against Gordillo’s father.
If anything, he should have prosecuted the heck out of it after that debacle. Maximum sentence.
This would have never happened but for that scumbag.
AT just LOVES Power and PUNISHMENT and thinks that they solve EVERYTHING! Or more likely, AT is just a sick, evil PERVERT who ENJOYS this sort of shit!
"Video of the license tag on the suspect's car helped Oviedo police track down Victor Washington Gordillo, born in 1955 – Gordillo junior's father, who is 70 years old."
Maybe in more detail, they found that someone else had borrowed or even stolen dad's car. You don't know. Maybe for that or for other reasons, they do NOT have enough evidence to take it to trial, with any prospect of winning!! MAYBE AT the AuthorShitarian TotalShitarian ALWAYS lusts on punishing OTHER PEOPLE for the misdeeds of evil and-or incompetant cops!
COP-SUCKERS LIKE AT THE AUTHORSHITARIAN TOTALSHITARIANS LOVE TO SUCK COP DICKS!!!
More news at 11:00!!!

My web site gets few hits cumpared to how near-infinitely hits Your PervFected Pubic Down-Under-Udders-Slut-Site gets, butt at least I have a modicum of self-respect instead of a SLUT of plain old slut-cum!!!
My dot-com is justifiably FAR more respectable that Your Pervfected slut-cum!!!
...
Yes, I bet that Your Pervfected, Infected Only-Fans Site is OUTTA Sight!!! When Ya gonna post a slinky stinky linky to shit?
It wasn't "that scumbag", it was his daughter-in-law who prevented the whole situation from being resolved amicably.
Who's actions led the cops to his house in the first place?
This would have never happened but for that store. Prosecute the heck out of them.
What?!? You object to going back further in the causation timeline? Righto!
This would have never happened if those cops had done their job. Prosecute the heck out of them, and find some other cops with better training and better manners and more common sense to arrest the father.
The father caused $120 in damage. The two renegade cops caused thousands. Even first-graders can tell who did more damage and is more of a threat to the community.
But not AT.
Nonsense. The store was engaged in wholly lawful conduct.
The scumbag dad was not.
The father caused $120 in damage. The two renegade cops caused thousands. Even first-graders can tell who did more damage and is more of a threat to the community.
Yes. The criminal thief.
But go ahead and rationalize being a no-good rotten thief a little harder.
Apparently you never got past 1+1=2, and couldn't read any better than mad.casual.
Can I cause you $120 in damage? You won't even notice until you go to count your money next. Will you not call the police so as to avoid them having to do any policing?
Also, you know what would have prevented the "thousands" of damages the cops "caused?"
A compliant suspect. Here's a thought: "Officer, I think there's been some kind of mistake. I'll be happy to accompany you in order to get things straightened out. Honey, this shouldn't take long. Why don't you go get the kids ready for bed, I'll be back soon." Heck, they likely would have resolved the mix-up right there on the doorstep with the cops apologizing for the mistake, inconvenience, and thanking him for his cooperation.
Or heck, here's another option, "Honey, go get our lawyer on the phone. Officer, I'm sorry, but I'm going to need to see a warrant before I say or do anything further. I understand you have a job to do, and I will happily remain right here in full view with my hands in sight until you can get your command on comms."
Why is that option never on the table for you, Stupid? You'd rather sit there and pretend that stealing $120 worth of goods is more defensible - and it apparently never even occurs to you that being a good and decent citizen was an option that could have quickly and peaceably resolved this whole thing.
Instead, you embrace this ACAB nonsense that brainwashes people into believing that the cops are the enemy, encourages them to pop off, and wonder why the cops are always on their back foot in any confrontation these days and having to react to get back on the front foot.
I'm not saying what these cops did was OK or defensible. I'm saying that you - you and the ACAB people just like you - are responsible for creating this environment. One which could and would be frequently avoided if you'd just acknowledge that A) crime is bad; B) de-escalation is always better than escalation in any police encounter; and C) decency should be the default, not jackassery.
Even first-graders can tell who did more damage and is more of a threat to the community.
Yup. And usually by about the second grade and certainly by the 4th or 5th, even if only in Sunday school or even just by watching sports, they elucidate the mystery of balancing the cost of an infraction with the cost of enforcing order or justice.
Also, I know I'm no police detective or Stupid Government Trick but a quick web search shows that $120 from Winn Dixie is ~9 lbs. of shrimp. And shrimp isn't exactly a staple. So we aren't talking about someone who accidentally knocked a bag into his cart or forgot to scan a loaf of bread or gallon of milk at checkout. 9 lbs. of pine nuts or dried fruit or other gets you well into the $300 territory. So, what exact limit are you going to set, Stupid Government Tricks a.k.a. California AG, at which the theft doesn't even get pursued?
Where did I say to not prosecute the shoplifter?
Please quote my exact words. You can't. You are a liar. In fact, you apparently skipped this part of what I said:
Where did I say to not prosecute the shoplifter?
I didn't even say the word prosecute. I said, asked, "What exact limit are you going to set at which the theft doesn't even get pursued?" You do know how question marks work, right?
There was an approximate hour between when I asked and you wrote the reply above. You're not at the scene of any crime now. Do you have an answer or not? Because it really seems like you don't have a solution and are just bitching.
The sheriff's office says the deputies were reprimanded and retrained...
...on how to accidentally overwrite bodycam footage.
The training is less technical than that - - -
"This is OFF, this is ON."
Not as bad as an Alec Baldwin production.
The video shows it was his wife who caused the scuffle. Had she not butted in, it looks like the whole thing would've been straightened out with just some talking.
