Police at the scene of the shooting at the Manhattan office building | JOHN ANGELILLO/UPI/Newscom
(JOHN ANGELILLO/UPI/Newscom)

Past security: A gunman walked into a skyscraper in Midtown Manhattan yesterday evening and began shooting, killing four people and injuring a fifth. Three of the people were killed in the building's lobby, including a New York City Police Department officer, 36-year-old Didarul Islam. The fourth person was killed on the 33rd floor. Among the dead are one Blackstone executive and one NFL employee, though names have not yet been released.

The Reason Roundup Newsletter by Liz Wolfe Liz and Reason help you make sense of the day's news every morning.

This field is for validation purposes and should be left unchanged.

The shooter has been identified as 27-year-old Nevada man Shane Devon Tamura. Tamura killed himself soon after shooting his final victim. Law enforcement says he has a "documented mental health history" but gave no details as to what that entails. His firearm appears to have been legally obtained.

Tamura's suicide note alleged that he suffered from chronic traumatic encephalopathy, or CTE, a brain disease linked to head trauma, according to a source. "In the note, he asked that his brain be studied and wrote: 'You can't go against the NFL, they'll squash you,'" per CNN. "Multiple sources told CNN Tamura was a competitive football player in his youth. CTE is commonly associated with football players, and studies show that repetitive hits to the head can result in the disease. The NFL offices are on the fifth floor of the office tower that Tamura attacked."

The site of the shooting, 345 Park Avenue, is an office building that houses consulting firm KPMG, investment firm Blackstone, and corporate offices for the NFL. It's in Midtown Manhattan—designated a gun-free zone several years ago, which clearly has not worked.

What we know about those who were killed: The NYPD officer, Didarul Islam, leaves behind an eight-months-pregnant wife and two children. An immigrant from Bangladesh, he had reportedly been on the force since December 2021, per The New York Post, working out of a precinct in the Bronx. On Monday, he was off duty working as building security but in his NYPD uniform. God rest his soul.

We don't know much about the motivations of the shooter, but many have started speculating:

i swear if this dude has a manifesto on blackstone buying the SFRs and rose twitter turns him into the next luigi

— nic carter (@nic__carter) July 29, 2025

Based on what we know so far, that does not seem right. This does not appear to be similar to the December shooting of UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson by Luigi Mangione, which was more explicitly politically motivated.

Scenes from New York: With over 550 blazes currently raging in the province of Manitoba, 15 million acres have already been burned across Canada. So why should I have to care about their nonsense and issues with poor wildfire management? Because it's screwing up New York City's air quality, making it so nobody with sensitive lungs (babies, small children, asthmatics, elderly people) can go outside for much time at all.

"While it may improve a little bit later on today or tonight, I think the air quality could go back down again beginning Tuesday and perhaps into Wednesday," AccuWeather Senior Meteorologist Tom Kines told the New York Post. It was palpably bad, and super hazy, all weekend; people who spent time outside reported developing nasty headaches and feeling dizzy.

Unfortunately, this has become standard in recent years. Back in the summer of 2023, the sky over New York turned orange for a day. Canadian wildfire data predict this summer to be the second-worst on record for wildfires for them. But what exactly are they doing to manage it, and is there a way to hold them accountable?

QUICK HITS

  • I think this is totally correct:

The dominant narrative is that the fertility crisis is an economic problem, which yes, on many levels it is. But the problem with the theory on the micro level (explained below with the elite graduate sample) or the macro level (rich countries with free healthcare, ie… https://t.co/dh85BC1TZ7

  • Joe Rogan's "defenders often describe him as a kind of roving intellect—curious, flexible, ideologically unmoored. He's just a guy asking questions, they say, a guy willing to talk to anyone, a guy who refuses to color inside the lines," writes Freddie deBoer on Substack. "And to be fair, that perception isn't entirely false. Rogan has, on occasion, platformed voices from across the political spectrum, from Bernie Sanders to Alex Jones, from Cornel West to Ben Shapiro. That's more range than you'll find on most cable news networks. But there's always a gap between what someone says they're open to and the actual structure of the world they've built around themselves. And once you start looking closely at who gets invited onto The Joe Rogan Experience—and just as importantly, who doesn't—the show's reputation for open-mindedness starts to look a lot like brand management." I don't know if I agree with the critique all that much, but I think it's the best encapsulation of the more thoughtful leftist take against Rogan.

    Scenes from New York

CNN reportedly claimed the Midtown Manhattan shooter is “possibly white.”

My condolences to the families of those slain, except for the family of the “possibly white” shooter who took his own life.

The strangest part of it is that this is one of those cases where the race of the suspect shouldn't be an issue. The guy's location was known, no need for a physical description.

As always, I am grateful when they expose the narrative.

They had the photo. The guy didn’t look like Jim Gaffigan, he looked more like Obama’s son if Obama had a son (reference to the person that assaulted and battered that White-Latino in Florida).

How many articles here have a statist respond to a libertarian’s comment with “racist” in their text?

For some, skin color is the most important thing.

Clearly not white and clearly irrelevant. No evidence that this was a racial incident. Just a crazy guy who had a gripe with the NFL.

        1. A Thinking Mind   1 day ago

And his gripe with the NFL is nonsensical anyway. He played high school football, never seemingly had inspirations to go pro, and he believed he had CTE. The NFL wasn't interfering with his ability to get treatment, and the fact that he knew what CTE is means the NFL hasn't suppressed information about the condition. Just a guy who decided he wanted to kill people.

No evidence that this was a racial incident.

A young man convinced his lack of achievement was someone else's fault? No wonder CNN wants so desperately for him to be white. They are the ones screaming that he is a victim.

Have to point out that the guy in Traverse City who was carrying and talked down the stabber was also a black man. Also not a racial incident. Everyone agrees he's a hero but MSM is reluctant to report because the facts don't fit their anti gun narrative.

LOL! Fox didn't show the part where the guy getting his ass kicked the hardest started the fight by slapping a guy. Same with the lady getting knocked out who kept putting her hands on the same guy.

I am not going to cast blame on someone for defending their friends and finishing a fight they didn't start. If Baldy McSlappington and his lady friend had kept their hands to themself, you can see there were multiple people trying to de-escalate the situation.

Alcohol leads to some poor choices, I'm guessing.

The guy may have deserved his beating, and he seemed to take it pretty well. There's no excuse for the bystander man that knocked out the woman though. Let the ladies take care of that.

Let the ladies take care of that.

Is it that you think that is funny or that you think it is appropriate? People have the right to defend themselves, and that woman had her hands on multiple people throughout the incident. From the video we can view, she wasn't de-escalating.

It is performative bullshit to imply that women can't be the problem. If you actually think that way, perhaps that is why you are so easily duped on the situation in Gaza.

Even simpler is: it is wrong to hit anyone that isn't attacking you. Once they do, why does their sex matter? And why is it OK to hit a woman if she picks up a weapon? Does her purse count? A shoe? A bat? A knife? A gun? A grenade?

That sounds like posturing for bravado, not a well thought out position.

Ridiculous interpretation. Defending your friend doesn't take 15 people ganging up to punch him from behind and kick him in the face while he's down.

The guy's an asshole and should never have slapped someone regardless of what he said. But also note many of the people defending this beat down in response to a slap also defend people starting fights with people who use n-----. So which is it, do words justify a physical response or not?

Yes, they want to be fooled. They need a Gazan famine to further the narrative and they will do all they can to make sure they continue to starve.

It is so clear now: the West’s anti-Israel derangement is bad not only for Israelis but for Palestinians, too. It has trapped women and children in Gaza. It has rewarded the murderous machinations of Hamas. It has incentivised the creation of yet more hunger to serve as a propagandistic weapon in the anti-Semitic war against Israel. Enough is enough. Those of us who support Israel’s right to exist and cherish Palestinian life should agitate for the opening of Gaza’s border with Egypt, for the UN to do that bare minimum of feeding people in Gaza, and for the media to tell the truth for a change.

Israel Botches Genocide With Millions In Food Aid

GAZA — In an embarrassing blunder, Israel has authorized millions of dollars in food aid to be delivered to the Gaza Strip, completely messing up their ongoing genocide.

Experts warn that if the food trucks are allowed to continue rolling into Gaza, the genocide might be thwarted altogether.

"This is so silly. What on earth were we thinking?" exclaimed Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu as he slapped his forehead with his hand. "All this food really puts a damper on our genocide of the Palestinians. Such a huge mistake."

Human Rights groups around the world thanked Israel for briefly pausing its total extermination of Gaza's populace to feed them. "We want the victims of this ongoing, unprovoked total genocide to be as fit and healthy as possible," said one UN spokesman.

Israel has promised it will not allow this mistake to happen again. "We forgot that feeding people free food is, like, one of the biggest no-nos when it comes to genociding," said Netanyahu. "Our bad. Live and learn, I guess."

At publishing time, Israel had come under condemnation from the international community for delivering trucks of pita bread to Gaza but no hummus.

Exactly. What we really need are more modern, inclusive, cosmopolitan ads like the one with Karrueche Tran and Bloody Osiris reminding black people to bring their own Courvoisier wherever they're going.

"It isn’t just that far-right ideology is proliferating on the fringe; our entire cultural ethos has moved further right, allowing for this sort of content. Young women are being radicalized through so-called clean skin care and healthy eating, internet slang once used exclusively by women-hating incels is mainstream, and people are unabashedly self-identifying as fascist on public platforms."

What an evil piece of shit Hannah Holland, MSNBC producer, is.

She trying to improve her social standing and desirability by trying to destroy other women's and to control men's sexuality. She's also dirty and gross if she thinks skin care and healthy eating are "fascist".

These people are such garbage. Imagine telling people in 2010 that in 2025 that it would be the progs who would be against sexy pictures of beautiful women and insisting that they cover up.

I was barely aware of this woman or Eagle Jeans prior to this kerfuffle. Have to say it's pretty ironic that the critics are blathering about eugenics while desperately trying to force taxpayers to fund Planned Parenthood whose goal has always been to abort undesirables, mostly black. Anyway the male gaze is a force of nature and endless images of obese women and trannys won't change that.

We've had a decade of obese DEI gender goblins in every ad, and if this dumb Brooklyn femtard thought the people found that shit attractive, she wouldn't be chimping out over guys lusting after a conventionally attractive blond woman.

Of course, if we saw Halle Barry modeling jeans with a tagline of "Halle Barry has great jeans" with the obvious pun, it would be righteous and wonderful and all that. It would be true, of course, but because they chose to use Sweeny it's now all "white supremacy".

Because skin color is the most important thing.

Halle Berry still looks incredible even at her age.

The thing is, American Eagle has ALWAYS marketed to upper middle class suburban kids. Who are, shocker of shockers, majority white. And will know about Sweeney because she's been in the spotlight since she did that softcore HBO show "Euphoria" with Zendaya. The same show that critics loved because it portrayed suburban girls as drugged-out sluts.

Sweeney clearly has enough self-awareness to understand that there's a time limit on her looks, that she was specifically marketed by Hollywood because she's a conventionally attractive white woman who doesn't mind showing her tits on screen, and is trying to maximize them to build up her nest egg while she can. The Wokies are simply pissed that a corporation has an ad that isn't featuring one of their preferred mystery meat "models" as a demoralization tactic.

Look at what your reference frame was there. She's average but can be made-up well. It's puzzling why they push her so hard, kind of like Pedro Pascal and in both cases I just want to see them less.

I guess it really depends on one’s type, but that’s always YMMV. For me, I find Zendaya kind of so-so, but then again, my preferences trend towards red or blonde.

No, she's definitely attractive, especially when she wears classical makeup and clothing styles. Her looks are very reminiscent of what you'd have seen in a Calvin Klein ad in the mid-90s.

It's also important to remember that Hollywood "average looks," at least prior to 5 years ago or so, are VERY different from what we consider to be average looks. Back in college, I worked in a movie theater with a guy who said he was buddies with Keri Russell. They both went to Highlands Ranch, and had some done modeling gigs and casting calls together back in California, although she was obviously more well-known from being on the Mickey Mouse Club earlier in the decade.

I thought he was full of crap until she showed up to the theater one day to say hello. We had some good-looking girls who worked in the theater with us, but she blew every single one of them out of the water. Absolute fucking smokeshow, especially in the mid-90s when she was still rocking that perm. That's the difference between Hollywood average and normie average.

Economics are an important part of the story, but we’re dancing around why women have fewer children later or none at all. Deep down we know this is a story about culture: men, women, marriage, modernity and memes that made the family an optional institution in America.

If you don’t acknowledge the cultural shift, you’ll never address the root of the problem.

I don't see a real solution in sight. Feminism and Tate-ism are both making it worse.

I've even come to accept (though I don't prefer it) the stupid tiny stud in the side of the nose that many young women have now. What I can't ever tolerate is the bull ring or some bar they put at the bottom of the septum. What the fuck is that? How did they ever convince themselves that it made them more attractive? I guess the goal is not attractiveness, but declaring oneself a "rebel" and nonconformist--and not right wing. It's funny, because it's now seeming like the most conformist thing you could do. Now, not having any piercings or tattoos (as a young person) would really make you more of a rebel.

Completely backwards. For the last million years male and female primates have had their differences but managed to mate consistently enough to get us to where we are. Modernity has allowed them to construct their own, personal towers of Babel to eclipse all others.

You've been relatively free to be gay or a hermit or celibate or married without kids or other for pretty much all of human history. Shaming others for choosing not to castrate their pre-pubescent children is a pretty human and relatively modern (if not recurrent) behavioral pattern.

It's worth noting that plunging birth rates are global phenomenon. It's not just the US, nor is it just European countries or first world countries or high income countries, it's happening almost everywhere. Even the poorest sub-Saharan African countries with sky-high fertility rates have significantly lower numbers now than they did even just 10 years ago.

TBF, at 30 an elite worker is still on the rapid career escalator. The concern is that if you take time off for kids, you'll lose your edge and fall behind. You're also working a fuck ton of hours because that's all you know.

This is why the working rich need to reconsider their aversion to trophy spouses who can stay at home. lol.

So just a recap, we were told that it’s impossible to restructure global trade without triggering a recession. We were told that military recruitment is never gonna go up and we just have to deal with it. We were told that in order for the border to be fixed we need to pass comprehensive immigration reform and spend like $17 billion dollars. We were told that NATO countries would never agree to pay 5% of their GDP.

And yet here we are not even a year to the Trump presidency, and every single one of those things that we were told couldn’t happen happened.

It’s really hard to make the argument that the people in charge before weren’t trying to screw up this country when you see the kind of results that we are seeing now.

What are you saying? The democrat's and complicit media explicitly stated ad nauseum that Biden had a Super Hero cabinet and with the Orangemanbad out of the way America would be fundamentally transformed.

They tried their worst and gladly just enough people woke up from the mass hysteria and delusions just in time to end the madness.

Sadly they actually did what they said they would and gladly they failed.

One of the best lines Trump's ever delivered was at the informally-titled State of the Union address:

I give the GOP credit where credit is due. Whereas I doubt you can give the Democrats you hate so much credit for anything. Unfortunately the GOP has made a hard left turn since Trump was elected. Too bad his followers are too blind and stupid to notice.

A few examples of this hard left turn are the redefining of words like "jurisdiction," "due process" and "emergency", love for higher taxes, inability to decide right or wrong without examining the people involved, calling any court ruling they don't like "activist", and a willful ignorance of economics.

For the same reason your imposter failed miserably, they fell flat because there was no intelligence, truth, or wisdom behind their posts. It was funny seeing their seething rage but then it became boring reading the low quality posts of a rube.

Imagine a single state bigger than the rest of the country? It would also never work because Eastern and Western Canada hate each other. At the very least you'd be looking at 4 states, all which would dwarf Texas.

Eight states, three territories, cut Quebec loose.

British Columbia, Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba, Ontario, New Brunswick & PEI combined, Nova Scotia, and Newfoundland-Labrador as states. I can’t see Congress agreeing to have PEI as a separate state due to its size.

None of the territories meet the minimum population as per the Northwest Ordinance of 1787 at 60,000 people.

I don’t think anyone wants the headache that’s Quebec as a state. Maybe an associated free and separate country like the Marshall Islands would be better.

We kind of missed that chance several times. Once with the Albany Plan (created by Ben Franklin), then with the failure to convince Nova Scotia and Quebec to join the Revolution, and finally with the failures to take Upper and Lower Canada in the War of 1812.

In an interview with Vanity Fair after the 2024 election, Crockett said that Hispanic Trump supporters had “almost like a slave mentality.” She later told a CNN host that she was tired of “white tears” and the “mediocre white boys” who are upset by DEI.

Unsurprisingly, Trump himself seems eager to elevate Crockett. “They say she’s the face of the party,” the president told my Atlantic colleagues recently. “If she’s what they have to offer, they don’t have a chance.” Some of the Republican targeting of Crockett is clearly rooted in racism; online, Trump’s supporters constantly refer to her as “ghetto” and make fun of her hair.

Step 1: make a clearly racist statement.
Step 2: blame others of racism.

    More of this.

    Bill Melugin
    @BillMelugin_
BREAKING: Per federal law enforcement sources, the two SoCal medical workers seen in a viral video physically blocking an ICE agent from arresting a Honduran illegal alien who had fled into their surgery center in Ontario, CA have both been charged federally & the male was arrested earlier this morning. The female remains at large and is wanted by federal authorities.

I'm told JOSE DE JESUS ORTEGA and DANIELLE NADINE DAVILA have both been charged with violations of 18 USC 111 (assaulting, resisting, or impeding federal agents). Both have a criminal arrest warrant signed off on by a federal judge.

I'm told ORTEGA was arrested by Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) agents this morning, while DAVILA is wanted and federal authorities are actively looking for her now.

The original incident happened earlier this month on July 8th at the Ontario Advanced Surgery Center, about 30 miles east of Los Angeles.

According to the federal criminal complaint obtained by
    @FoxNews
, the target Honduran illegal alien, a landscaper, was not a patient at the facility, but ran to it in an effort to get away from ICE agents. The feds allege that when an ICE agent partially detained the alien and he fell down near the front door of the surgery center, workers at the facility pulled the alien inside to get him away from ICE. The feds say Ortega and Davila could then be seen in multiple videos physically blocking ICE from reaching the alien by putting their hands on the agent and wedging themselves between him and the Honduran man.

The Honduran man was ultimately taken into federal custody. According to the affidavit, HSI conducted extensive surveillance on ORTEGA and DAVILA after the incident to confirm their identities.

    Statement from
    @USAttyEssayli
, who is prosecuting the case:

“This story is another example of a false narrative peddled by irresponsible members of the media in furtherance of a political agenda to delegitimize federal agents. The illegal alien arrested inside the medical center was not a patient and was not in any way affiliated with that location. He ran inside for cover and these medical workers attempted to block his apprehension by assaulting our agents. To be very clear, it doesn’t matter who you are or where you work, if you assault our agents or otherwise interfere with our operations, you will be arrested and charged with a federal crime.”

This is even more absurd than the illustrative/hyperbolic "An arrest warrant is not a search warrant." examples I make up.

Discounts, such as frequent flyer miles, were largely illegal until the Airline Deregulation Act of 1978.

... signed into law by Jimmy Carter. Mr. Potato Head also signed the Motor Carrier Act, Staggers Rail Act and the Telecommunications Act. Actions which removed barriers from interstate transportation and telephony. He signed the Regulatory Flexibility Act, Paperwork Reduction Act and Executive Order 12044 (google it), additional measures to reduce regulatory burden.

With such a tremendous record, one might think that libertarians would laud his time in office. After all, they say "well, it's a start" when opining about The Donald's comparitively nominal actions.

But no. Jimbo remains an unheralded modern deregulator because Blue Man Bad.

I don't know. Pinpointing the rabbit story as the beginning of Carter's downfall seems a bit like saying Obama's biggest scandal was wearing a tan suit.

I wouldn’t have called it the beginning of Carter’s downfall. The rabbit episode is just a microcosm of his presidency. He was naive and inept dealing with the rabbit, just as he was naive and inept dealing with what else was thrown at him.

I’d place the beginning of his downfall as when he totally mishandled the Shah and the start of the Iranian Revolution. From there, it was all downhill.

Agree with everything you said. I think Carter did a solid job of handling the TMI incident. A trained nuclear engineer at Annapolis that visited the site early showed character and leadership. Also think he was probably the most decent person of the potuses in the past 50 years. But was not a good potus.

Honestly, Carter's biggest sin wasn't even his tumultuous time in office. It was the fact he couldn't keep his fucking nose out of American foreign policy, and consistently gave aid and comfort to its enemies.

This is the same asshole who meddled in Clinton's negotiations with North Korea and opened the door to them getting nukes. He couldn't get his mouth free of Palestinian cock. He gaslit everyone into thinking that Hugo Chavez's election wasn't a complete crock of shit, which ultimately ended up in that fucked-up country sending all of its gang members here.

Part of me suspects that he was irritated at Nixon's reformation in the early 90s as a respected commentator on foreign affairs, and thought worming his way into the Clinton orbit would get him the same credibility.

If he had just fucked off and focused exclusively on building houses, his legacy would have been simply being the a guy who found himself in an untenable political situation that would have challenged anyone in office at the time, and fumbling it because the Democrats were already on the path of being a reflexively anti-American party, and what most Americans wanted was actually someone who had a positive vision for the country rather than the dour, scolding attitude that Carter took.

Smartest decision the Harris campaign made was rejecting an opportunity to talk with him. Because Harris had zero substance to sustain a long-form open forum discussion. She needs tightly briefed talking points and prepped interview questions, otherwise she's a broken mess. She doesn't have any cohesive ideology other than 1) Being vaguely on the left and 2) Whatever is popular enough to get her elected.

It was obvious when she got destroyed on The View, about as a friendly a venue as she could ever have hoped for, being asked about one of the most obvious issues with her term as VP and her candidacy.

To be honest, the Trump episode wasn't even all that interesting. Trump's tendency to ramble led me to tap out after about 20 minutes or so.

The JD Vance episode, on the other hand, was one of the more interesting podcasts I've listened to. He's far more focused and had some legitimately interesting stories on top of discussing political topics.

De Boer's take is really nothing more than an obvious effort to set up a dialectic that Rogan isn't what his fans claim. They can't pigeonhole him as someone who won't bring on radical leftists, so they're trying to reframe the whole thing as a "branding" exercise, as if the Pod Save America retards don't do the exact same shit. Rogan will bring on pretty much anyone who he thinks he can have an interesting discussion with, which is something those queefs can't claim.

He'll also bring on completely random guests that you'd never expect for a bro-cast show. He's had on Elliot West twice, for example, which for those who aren't familiar, is one of the icons of American West scholarship. It wasn't for any political purpose, it was because Rogan had read his books on the Nez Perce and the region's post-Civil War economic development, and found them good reads.

I learned my lesson from the Bernie Sanders interview, not to listen when Joe sits down with politicians. Not his strong suit, given:
          1. He treats his guest as fellow honest searches of truth - part of what makes him great.
          2. Politicians are not honest.

Only time he pushes back on guest is when an Adam Conover comes on and says something so stupid about something in Joe's wheelhouse.

Summy Hostin admits trying to manipulate the interview to make Harris look better...

        https://news.meaww.com/the-views-sunny-hostin-feels-terrible-for-asking-kamala-harris-question-that-cost-her-2024-election

During the Wednesday, June 18 podcast, Teta asked Hostin if she expected her question to Harris to become a viral moment, and the show's co-host replied, "I knew it instantly when she answered it."

Moreover, she admitted that she desperately tried to save Harris with another question on the subject.

"Which is why I asked the follow-up question, 'Is there one thing?' Because I knew, I could see the soundbite and I knew what was going to happen, but I thought it was a really fair question and I thought it was a question that she would expect," Hostin said.

and I thought it was a question that she would expect," Hostin said.

Especially since she was asked the same question EARLIER THAT DAY on CBS or some other network. She didn't have an answer the first time, but to not have one hours later when asked on the View was a microcosm of Kamala's stupidity--and the incompetence of her team not to prepare an answer when she whiffed earlier on the same question.

    Scenes from NYC:

    https://nypost.com/2025/07/26/us-news/zohran-mamdanis-presidential-style-uganda-wedding-bash/

Socialist NYC mayoral frontrunner Zohran Mamdani celebrated his recent nuptials with a lavish, three-day affair at his family’s ritzy, secluded Ugandan compound — complete with masked security guards and a cellphone jamming system, The Post has learned.

The gates of the bustling, private compound, which sits in the wealthy Buziga Hill area outside the capital city of Kampala, were heavily guarded by military-style, masked men this week, with guests streaming in and partying until midnight, according to sources in the town who wished to remain anonymous for security reasons.

Mamdani, 33, eloped with artist and animator Rama Duwaji, 27, in February.

He told his social media followers Sunday he was heading to his homeland to celebrate with his wealthy filmmaker mom and professor dad, who own the Buziga Hill property.

The neighborhood is home to some of Uganda’s richest, including billionaire businessman Godfrey Kirumira, a city tycoon with stakes in real estate, tourism, petroleum and infrastructure...

Folks won't be at Alligator Alcatraz for long.

DeSantis confirmed this development at a press conference at the facility.

“The flights are going, I think the cadence is going to increase, I think you’re going to see the numbers really go up dramatically,” the governor said, pointing out that the first deportation flight had over 100 illegal aliens on board.

“I don’t want it to be where illegals are just stored there [at the facility], and then just kind of sitting. I want it to be where illegals are here, there’s an aggressive processing and an aggressive deportation schedule,” he continued.

But there's always a gap between what someone says they're open to and the actual structure of the world they've built around themselves. And once you start looking closely at who gets invited onto The Joe Rogan Experience—and just as importantly, who doesn't—the show's reputation for open-mindedness starts to look a lot like brand management."

This is a long-standing issue with the left-wing mindset. They can't conceive of an 'unmanaged' system of communication or media. They literally can't. The left (and the Democrats) live in a carefully scripted world of planned photo-ops, visits to ice cream parlors where media is alerted before hand, a politician is put on the back of a bicycle in a carefully planned telegenic splendor to show physical fitness, late night appearances are agreed-upon with questions carefully vetted etc.

Hell, I remember back in the early 90s when I listened to Rush Limbaugh for a few years-- when he was kind of a new phenomenon on the scene, and he used to laugh because one of the questions he said he always got from people on the left was "Where does your funding come from?" (always said in an accusatory voice). It always perplexed him because he would say, "From advertisers, you dumb ass" and they couldn't wrap their head around that. To people on the left, they simply can't conceive of something like a Rogan or a Limbaugh without wealthy benefactors-- and whenever they have to find their own answer to a Rogan or a Limbaugh, they always have to do it utilizing wealthy benefactors, just see "Air America" or their current search for "The Next Joe Rogan of the Left".

Well, look at their fucking political infrastructure--it's always astroturfed "powered by people!" bullshit that's ultimately funded by a combination of government grants and various octopus orgs run by champagne marxist billionaires. Their media companies operate off of VC, government, and billionaire sugar daddy subsidies. Hell, Hollywood would fucking collapse if they weren't getting a bunch of tax breaks for filming outside California.

They literally expect and demand that they all be given a life of luxurious ease for the simple act of being born. It all goes back to the founder of their religion, Karl Marx, being a lazy parasite that didn't do squat except mooch off of people his whole life.

    https://babylonbee.com/news/10-things-more-popular-than-democrats-right-now

The Babylon Bee has come up with the following list of things that, believe it or not, are more popular than Democrats:

Kidney stones: Painful, yes, but have you ever watched an 8-hour Hakeem Jeffries speech?

Digital pagers from Israel: 9 out of 10 Americans would rather wear one than be associated with Democrats.

British food: Who doesn't love a good pie with a fish head sticking out of it?

Diddy parties: The popularity of these has followed a similar trajectory to the Democratic Party.

WNBA season tickets: They supposedly have at least some monetary value.

Bluesky: There are reportedly dozens and dozens of devoted users.

That one scene from Season 3 Episode 4 of The Mandalorian where Baby Yoda jumps around while battling a youngling Mandalorian, and it looks like someone just threw a stuffed animal through the air: Pathetic.

Jehovah's Witnesses on your front porch: They may be annoying, but they're far less dangerous than Democrats.

Jeffrey Dahmer: More people should be as apolitical as cannibalistic serial killers.

Republicans: But only by a little bit.

I do not believe the fertility crisis is, at its core, about economic factors.

The driver is economics, but these analyses that focus on daycare are over far too short a period. As the economy evolved children went from being economic assets to economic liabilities. They were assets first as farm and home laborers and later adding guild assistants and similar work. The move to full time education greatly reduced that labor value, but the net was still positive if the kids worked in the home. But the new economy where everyone expects their kids to go to college and maybe professional school beyond greatly increases the cost and further minimizes the benefit since they now need hours of out of school preparation as well.

It's a real problem that the middle class and above see kids as a burden while the welfare class sees them as a meal ticket. This cannot end well.

"The dominant narrative is that the fertility crisis is an economic problem, which yes, on many levels it is. But the problem with the theory on the micro level (explained below with the elite graduate sample) or the macro level (rich countries with free healthcare, ie Scandinavia) is that you don’t see different stats when controlling for these populations. "

It's a bit comical that the two responses, both the ivory tower Harvard elite & co. (rachael) and the 1st world micro/macro theoretician (Katherine) is that they both are talking blindly into the air seemingly in response to the original post of someone named Lei Gong who seems to post about politics, economics, and China. That last word is the key right there since the youth unemployment rate in China is over 20% yet neither response acknowledges that particular cultural difference. Let's be honest when food delivery drivers often have multiple master's degrees and even PhDs the job market isn't great. That's just economics because if everyone has an MS degrees, multiples, or more then where is the value in it? Just like if everyone is sitting on a few tons of gold what would gold be worth?

Imagine grandpa puttering around the house in bare feet when he steps on yet another perfectly cut 2 carat diamond that digs into his heel bone when he screams "WTF?! Another one! Where did all these diamonds come from? We must have a million of them. Throw all these worthless rocks away!" And he'd be absolutely right and in that economy I could see manure being invaluable because there isn't anything going to grow in a giant pile of diamonds but a lot of food will grow in a big pile of manure. Pity nothing will grow in the manure pile responses to the OP.
