Brickbat: Permanent Record

Tennessee Rep. John Crawford (R–Bristol) has introduced a bill that would require law enforcement to collect DNA samples from anyone arrested for a felony. Under the proposed law, the state must dispose of those samples if the defendant is acquitted or the charges are dropped as long as that person has no other charges pending. Crawford argues the law will make it easier to catch dangerous criminals and help solve cold cases.

And so it begins….
Been Maryland law for awhile. Even was challenged in SCOTUS and prevailed.
No information is ever destroyed.
Just take the jab.
This is how it should be. The police need to delete the DNA data is the innocent. It was shameful that SCOTUS disagreed, Good dissent from Scalia.
The police won't delete anything. Anyone who thinks those tasked with enforcing the law actually follow the law is a fool.
+1
Maryland v. King
If you had any idea what the State already has compiled on people - guilty or not - well... let's just say it makes Gattaca and Eagle Eye pale in comparison. Voice patterns, gait analysis, facial recog, partial facial recog, location services, RFID data mining, fingerprint samples, and so on and so on.
And most of it you all gave up voluntarily. Especially during the scamdemic. Most of you STILL give it up voluntarily every single day. Did you know your grocery store savings app is data mining your buying habits, and that you've consented to them selling it? You know who finds that kind of information VERY valuable? Life insurers. Are you on welfare of any kind? May as well have a chip in your neck. Got a Kindle? Or a library card? It knows every book you've ever read on it, and can build a profile around it. Good for sales. Also good for getting a read on your mental state. Been to an airport lately? Ha, do you have any idea how much biometrics you give up to fly the friendly skies?
Don't pretend like you're not 100% in favor of all of this. You love the modern world as much as I do. Who the hell cares about a cheek swab of a banger at this point?
