No, HHS Didn't Spend $8 Million 'Making Mice Transgender'
HHS, like all government programs, has plenty of silly and wasteful line items in its budget; there's no need to just make things up.

During the first address to Congress of his second term this week, President Donald Trump bragged about the accomplishments he achieved during his first weeks back in office.
"It was exactly what you'd expect," wrote Reason's Liz Wolfe. "Trump emphasized border security and law enforcement, the cuts made by the Department of Government Efficiency…and the importance of ending the war in Ukraine."
But while calling out some of the newly uncovered waste and fraud, specifically at the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) during President Joe Biden's administration, Trump made an inaccurate claim that his White House has continued doubling down on.
"Just listen to some of the appalling waste we have already identified," Trump bragged. "$8 million for making mice transgender—this is real."
Indeed, spending $8 million to make mice transgender would be an appalling waste of tax money, if it were real. Thankfully, it isn't.
At the time of the speech, some online commenters noted that the program was likely not transgender but transgenic—"an organism or cell whose genome has been altered by the introduction of one or more foreign DNA sequences from another species by artificial means," according to the National Human Genome Research Institute.
Jeremy Faust, an emergency physician and a professor at Harvard Medical School, said on Instagram that it's actually not either of those. "You can take a male mouse and you can inject it with hormones to make it more feminine," or vice versa, "and scientists have been doing this for a long time, and it's to find out about the biophysical effects" of hormones.
Indeed, this would be the exact purpose of doing experiments on mice: to study the efficacy and risk factors of substances that humans take for medical use.
A CNN fact check during the speech called Trump's claim "false" and said he had mischaracterized grants from the National Institutes of Health (NIH).
The morning after the speech, the White House issued an article, titled "Yes, Biden Spent Millions on Transgender Animal Experiments." It lists six bullet points of NIH grants for experiments using estrogen or testosterone on mice, totaling more than $8.2 million in total awards.
"The Fake News losers at CNN immediately tried to fact check [this claim], but President Trump was right (as usual)," the article gloats—truly an embarrassing sentence for any public relations flack to write, much less on behalf of a U.S. president.
But a quick glance at the list shows Trump's claim is still not accurate: Indeed, the top bullet point lists $455,000 in grants "to test the effects of gender-affirming hormone therapy on HIV vaccine-induced immune responses." That funding went to a team at Duke University "designing an HIV vaccine that maximizes efficacy but minimizes adverse outcomes." They would use the grant money to study "the immunological responsiveness of transgender people, a population at considerably higher risk for HIV and other STIs [sexually transmitted infections]."
Another grant provided $2.5 million to the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, to study the "reproductive consequences of steroid hormone administration." The largest grant listed was $3.1 million for Trustees of Indiana University to examine the efficacy of estrogen in treating asthma. "Women have increased asthma prevalence and higher rates of asthma exacerbations than men," the project description noted, and even though the cause of that discrepancy remains unclear, "studies have shown that sex-specific inflammatory mechanisms controlled by hormones contribute to differences in airway reactivity in response to environmental stimuli."
Indeed, at most, the listed NIH grants describe studies in which scientists are studying the effects of gender-affirming hormones on mice, and not "making mice transgender."
This is not to say that NIH must be in the business of giving out these grants. Perhaps the recipients' institutions should shoulder a greater burden of the research their faculty and staff are conducting, leaving those millions of dollars in taxpayers' pockets.
And this is also not to suggest HHS' programs have no waste or fraud. In 2023 alone, Medicare and Medicaid issued over $100 billion in "improper payments."
But that's the point: When HHS, just like any government program, already has plenty of silly and wasteful line items ripe for cutting, there's no need to just make up new ones.

You shitting me? This is the RFK red dye fact check all over gain. C'mon.
I'm waiting for Reasons article on how Elizabeth Warren isn't actually Pocahontas.
Because she's never denied being a descendant of Thomas Rolfe
Add it up, yes they spent that money on this transgender nonsense. WTF is this article?
He said it. It's up to his lackeys to make it true post hoc.
Precisely so.
CNN had to withdraw their fact check.
You dummy.
I rest my case.
Lackeys come through to make it false, but (almost) factual.
Wait, what?
CNN got it wrong so that means telling you about it makes VM Trump's lacky? That would be a winning strategy for a debate team.
VM isn't the lackey I referred to. CNN was updated because lackeys found studies that are tangentially related to "transgender mice." Now it's false, but factual.
Not that this is unique to Trump. This is just how politics work.
Was $8 million of tax dollars spent giving trans treatment to mice?
Yes, $8 million was used in research that included giving trans treatment to mice.
Where I work, one of the projects is cancer research. The pharmacology group grows tumors on mice to test putative cancer drugs. We don't say "Our work is to give mice cancer." We say, "We're studying cancer drugs using mouse models." It is a model of human disease so we can understand how test drugs work in that scenario.
So if Trump saying "$8 million for making mice transgender—this is real" is honest enough to you to describe research that uses mice to study the effects of "gender affirming treatments" fine. We have different standards of honesty.
"Now it's false, but factual."
Is that at all like "Fake, but accurate."??
same
Like "Fake, but accurate", according to Spermy Daniels, cuntcerning The Donald's stolen erections!!
#EquallyFairlyLocallyGrownAccessForAllToSpermyDanielsNOW!!!
Yes, hopefully the author mentions this once he learns about it.
Haha, good one.
In fact, look at this cope:
https://x.com/JoeRLancaster/status/1897670931171983426
Lol.
The cope is strong in this one.
Ah, yes, the "True, but lacks context" fallback position of the fact-checking elite.
FACT CHECK: They are gender affirming the mice
Good lord, that is the worst X feed I've seen from a non-professed progressive.
This is not to say that NIH must be in the business of giving out these grants.
Yes it is. Your specific argument is that it matters whether the NIH is handing out the money to research transgender mice or transgenic mice (and I say this as someone who worked in a transgenic animal facility, married to someone who worked in a transgenic mouse core lab).
Your retarded idiocy is the diametric opposite of Trump's disinterest in transgenic vs. transgender, the difference is that you're arguing against his cuts. I'd add that he's a businessman and politician whom everyone expects to lie or "fudge the details with a 30,000 ft. view" while you're a journalists that people would expect to be objective or have integrity but I think, at this point, that's more of a false memory of a bygone era on my part than anything real that should be respected.
"you're a journalists that people would expect to be objective or have integrity "
Mandella Effect?
I've seen photos of mice with a human ear grafted onto their back. If they were to graft labia onto the back of a male mouse for use in reconstructive surgery, or a penis onto the back of a female mouse, is that mouse "transgenic" or "transgender"? Or maybe neither, maybe both? (this question is mostly meant to be joking)
If they're testing the effect of "gender affirming" human hormones on mice, do they need transgender mice to get accurate data? Since gender dysphoria is a largely mental condition, how could they even tell? Do they have to give the MTF treatments to male mice and FTM hormones only to female mice? Or do they just give whatever dose to whatever is in the next cage because rodent biology is so different from primate biology anyway? (slightly more serious here)
There is an enitre body of work regarding the knockout of the Sry gene and the resulting production male mice with female genitalia. This work has been going on since the early 2010's and has been done in other species. It defies belief that none of it was funded by a NIH grant. You can argue the merits of such work, but to deny it is happening is 100% bullshit.
Don't you think the purpose of that research is to understand the mechanisms of sexual dimorphism and has nothing to do with the transgender movement? The article posted is from 2013 so likely the work was likely done in the 10 to 5 years prior to that.
The purpose of the research is to fill the coffers of the researchers and all the assorted bureaucrats associated with them. It's largesse and should be eliminated.
uhh OK
Reminder, he works at one of these areas. Claiming 50% overhead for grants was valid, no understanding that you can price out materials in government contracts and it doesn't count as overhead.
He just wants to keep his graft flowing.
^This is what TDS really looks like.
What happened to you? You used to argue facts and theory, but now you just spout lies and personal insults. Even your spastic link posting is degrading lately. Are you OK?
The facts and theory bit is an act. His true self has the maturity and intellect of a catty middle-school girl.
If you spent as much time in a twelve step program as you do here whining about Jesse, you’d be sober by now.
No he wouldn't. He is a lifetime degenerate alcoholic.
He'd find a way to be a victim at the 12 step program.
There he goes, unwittingly proving me right.
Anyone who proved you right really would have to be unwitting.
Does that include DARPA?
Darpa has some of the dumbest ideas
More specifically, the molecular mechanisms of sex determination. However, the purpose was not what was being addressed. When you boil a broad point down to a single sentence like, 'we spent $8 million studying transgender mice', there will lots of inference. Lancaster makes his own assumptions seeking to poopoo the statment, and in doing so denies the fact there is money going into transgender mouse studies. He could argue the merit of the research instead of reflexively saying orange man lies.
Sure.
And they're making teh mice transgender! to do this.
If Sturgeon's Law is true, and 90% of papers involving lab mice are junk, how many billions misspent on cisgender mice does DOGE plan to recover?
Hopefully all of the stuff that is wasteful.
It could be that the point of the research is just to stop those mice from breeding during the research without having to worry about sorting out the male from the female mice.
It sounds to me like Trump was right. Politifact style factcheck
Politifact style factcheck

I suppose they never made the frogs gay, either.
This is my favorite of the Alex Jones quotes because it sums the man up perfectly:
1) Jones says something that sounds absurdly ridiculous.
2) It is not technically true.
3) It is, however, not entirely without basis and merit.
Chemical runoff from pesticides was causing something like a %7000 increase in hermaphroditism in frogs in one area. So were they "putting chemicals in the water to turn the frogs gay?" No, not exactly. But were they doing something damaging that was damaging the sex hormones of frogs? They sure were.
Jones was 100% technically correct. It was said in such a way that the inferences most people would take from that were wrong.
they = farmers, pesticide manufacturers
made = via spraying
the frogs = the frogs
gay = emitting female hormones that attract other males who then attempt to mate
I remember his crazy conspiricy theory in June 2001 when he said there was going to be a terrorist attack on NY that the gov will let happen, blame a guy named bin laden and use it to push a bill called the patriot act?
What a crazy guy
They didn’t mean to make the frogs gay - they just didn’t care if they did.
If the NIH is handing out grants for $8 million to cure cancer, two things will happen:
1. The taxpayers will be out $8 million
2. We will get further away from a cure for cancer.
So when it spends $8 million for nonsense, it hardly seems like that's remotely defensible either.
One thing we can do to address this problem is to abolish the NIH.
I find it hilarious that an ostensibly libertarian magazine wants to abolish borders (which would lead to decidedly unlibertarian outcomes), but will defend unconstitutional agencies like the NIH.
Indeed, at most, the listed NIH grants describe studies in which scientists are studying the effects of gender-affirming hormones on mice, and not "making mice transgender."
So, Lancaster is a liar.
Honest-adjacent.
Starts the article about how the mice aren't being made transgender, spends the rest of it explaining how they were made transgender to study the effects of 'gender affirming' processes.
It's bonkers that anyone can write or publish something that so thoroughly contradicts its own premise
It’s shrike levels of stupid.
PRESENTATION PARADOX - Reports that defy the accepted media narratives
NBC News dispelled the claims of Haiti having cannibals by pointing out that Republicans are focusing on the gangs that are eating people, including one dubbed “The Cannibal Army”.
In order to counter the developing news of Joe Biden’s mental condition being exposed the NY Times declared that the real problem is that this reality will be feeding directly into the conservative conspiracies about his mental condition.
After Donald Trump’s work at a McDonald’s, Brian Stelter said two days later the only reason it was still a story was due to conservatives making it an issue. He had to be shown all of the news outlets still reporting on it, including CNN.
After the election the masterminds at The Bulwark were so concerned with Trump ruining the nation by becoming authoritarian. The solution, according to these wizards, was for Biden to make authoritarian moves to prevent Trump authoritarianism.
WINNER - Linda Qiu, NEW YORK TIMES
In an effort to disprove a Fox News report that there were tens of thousands of missing immigrant minors the paper declared this was entirely misleading. They went on to explain these kids are not missing, they are simply unaccounted for. “These children were not “lost,” though the report chided immigration officials by noting that without an ability to monitor the location of the children, they were more susceptible to “trafficking, exploitation or forced labor.”
This has to be the worst of the articles on the speech.
The others at least pointed out real mistakes/hyperbole.
This one is relying on some subtle semantics - sure, they were studying 'gender affirming' treatments, but the *focus* wasn't 'making mice trangender' just to study what happened when you do that.
Let's test your hypothesis:
Is "$8 million for making mice transgender—this is real."
the same as
"$8 million for [studying the effects of treatments used in "gender affirming care," such as how it effects vaccine efficacy or breast cancer rates]—this is real."?
Seems pretty different to me.
It might, because you're a moron.
But it isn't.
In order to study the effects of "treatments used in "gender affirming care" you have to apply those treatments.....and transition the mice.
Transition the mice, eh? Now who's being naive, Kay?
You're coming close to admitting that transitioning doesn't actually change your "gender."
You have an male who identifies as a girl. He takes "treatments" (the same drugs/hormones as in the mice study) to affirm his gender, that of a woman. Wouldn't that make him a transgender woman?
The mice can't conceptualize gender identity, but giving a male mouse the same course of gender-affirming treatment seems to me to be tantamount to transitioning the mouse.
To pretend that Trump's claim is false is to claim that there aren't transgender people as they're just taking a course of medication. Or, if the medication is immaterial to transitioning, why are doctors prescribing it for transitioning?
You're coming close to admitting that transitioning doesn't actually change your "gender."
That's s fine, That's consistent with my beliefs.
The mice can't conceptualize gender identity, but giving a male mouse the same course of gender-affirming treatment seems to me to be tantamount to transitioning the mouse.
Maybe my disconnect with everyone is because this is closly related to my job. Let me explain.
We don't say the mouse had Huntington's disease or ALS or cancer etc. We say a mouse model of.... Because mice are not humans, they don't get the same diseases. When we are funded to study these things, say a million dollar grant to study glutamine antagonists in cancer, we'll spend at most a few thousand dollars generating that mouse model (and these "trans mouse" models would be dirt cheap as mouse models go). The rest of the funding is spent on the topic of interest (synthesizing compounds, pharmacokinetics, metabolic stability, blah blah blah. The mouse model is just a tool in the study, not the key component, but a very small part. So to say we're funded to give mice cancer is fundamentally wrong. To say it for political reasons would be fundamentally dishonest.
So, fine, the mice were "transitioned." It was not the point of the study to see if they can transition mice or how to improve transitions in humans. It was to create a model and very little money of those grants was used for those models.
How do you study 'gender affirming care' in mice?
Since the point of 'gender affirming care' is to make you transgender it would seem you would want to make the mice transgender.
Sure, whatever.
If that's close enough for you to fool yourself that Trump was being honest, have at it.
Honk honk!
Touche
How do the mice convey their gender preferences and, more importantly, their preferred pronouns?
Trump is an idiot, and his followers love it.
How's your fake physics PhD holding up Molly?
Worse than his Spanx.
Molly got her Ph.D. from the same university WindyCity got his Juris Doctorate.
I'm not a fan of Trump. But if Trump is an idiot, what does that make the losers of the last election?
They’re passive idiots.

To paraphrase Bertrand Russell. A wise man is full of doubt and a stupid man full of certainty.
""Fatass Donnie is stupid but he thinks he is the world’s top genius.""
Sounds like an elite democrat.
Kammy knows she is not bright. Gonna need a cite for that one, chief.
Recipients of the votes of not enough people smart enough to vote against a felonious grapefruit.
Logic suggest ms that to the extent that this country is democratic, its stupid choices are its own damn fault.
Cope and seethe, Nazi.
Victims of idiots.
Self-victimization--got it.
It’s so paradoxical, but that’s fascism for you.
I outsource all of my self-ownership to Dear Leader, but he better not be smarter than me!
...but that’s fascism for you.
You wouldn't recognize fascism if Benito himself fucked you up the ass.
It's a close one, but Weekend-at-Bernie's Biden was probably a little smarter than you.
Why don't you tell everyone how you used to think gasoline was made?
You flatter me by knowing more about my comment history than I do.
Smartness is a multidimensional thing. The problems arise when, say, some guy who pretended he could code in his two years of college thinks he knows how to run the entire planet.
Joe Lancaster doesn't even read what he writes.
The critics of Trump's misinformation may be missing the point here: Trump is no doubt flooding the information market with misinformation because it works. After all of his lies, his supporters nod their heads knowingly and cheer; his enemies sputter with incoherent rage, then rush to their keyboards to denounce the lies and correct the misinformation; meanwhile three days later no one has even read the corrections, but Trump has issued a hundred more lies.
This reads like something MWAocdoc thinks Trump might say.
You deny that Trump tells lies at a breakneck speed?
Yes. Why don't you share a single example of an actual lie Trump told during the address. Just one. You don't even have to provide a cite for it.
Just an example.
Got any actual verifiable examples, Molly? With actual links?
The name for this is a "gish gallop" and you can not counter it by correcting the lies. It is very hard to counter.
It is quite dastardly for Trump to use this 'lying' technique that has never occurred to political figures before. Hopefully some experts somewhere can develop a strategy.
Whoever said that politicians never lied before Trump? Really?
Well, Molly here seems to be quite shocked and stunned by this new behavior.
As above. Tell us a lie, Tony, that Trump told. If he Gish-Galloped them out, you must be able to point one out.
What’s especially funny about her post is that for going on 10 years now, it’s the media that has to go back and silently correct themselves over and over again.
To truly make mice transgender they would have had to open a public school for mice. Hire DEI mice teachers with blue hair. Groomed them to think there is something wrong with them that only surgery can fix.
It's the new maze.
Push the button to inject hormones, get a little cocaine?
Pretty sure there's a pretty terrible, 1984-style "warning/instructive fiction" version of Flowers for Algernon for the modern era woven in there. Where they raise the mice's IQ enough to teach them English and proper pronoun usage and then inject them with hormones and perform surgery on them until they get stupid enough to keep most of the English, but to reject what was taught to them specifically about gender and pronouns. The sort of thing that would be thought provoking or even hilarious if Rick Sanchez did it in his garage or at the dinner table, but they would take as mandate to begin butchering people.
Is that the book librarians everywhere hated soo much they pulled it from shelves?
Let's not lose sight of the fact that this is a smear on LGBT based on the hateful lie that LGBT are disproportionately child abusers.
No it isn't.
Certainly they're not. But when they are, the do seem to go all in!
Details on this incredible case.

'Never Say You've Seen It All': Judge Hands Down Sentences to Men Convicted of Abusing Their Adopted Sons
OXFORD, Georgia — LGBTQ activists William Dale Zulock and Zachary Jacoby Zulock were sentenced last week to 100 years in prison each, followed by life on probation, for "routinely" raping their young, adopted, special-needs sons, producing "homemade" child pornography of the abuse, and inviting nearby pedophiles in the Atlanta area to "double penetrate" their two children, ages 9 and 10 at the time of rescue.
"I tell people never say you've seen it all. Because in this line of work, you will yet again be reminded of the depths of depravity and men's ability and willingness to engage in unspeakable cruelty to other humans," said Judge Jeffrey L. Foster, who handed down their punishments at Thursday's sentencing hearing.
Foster highlighted how the harm that they've inflicted has foisted negative national attention on gay men everywhere, "who fought to be married and to live happy, productive lives, stable, who would never—" the Alcovy Judicial Circuit judge said, before trailing off.
"And yet your actions have perpetuated every stereotype, every trope that causes fear. And you've damaged and contributed to the difficult struggle that others have fought for a long time to get, because you fulfilled the worst fears."
"You took these boys and pulled them out of one pit and told somebody to hold your beer, 'Because I've got one that's deeper and worse.' You've treated these two boys as personal sex toys," Foster railed.
Though the jointly indicted co-defendants were convicted on slightly varying charges after being severed before trial, Foster decided that they were equally culpable and deserved the same sentence. "One initiated it. One joined in, honestly, because it just sounded like he was jealous. I don't know what is worse."
The judge pointed to an LGBTQ-themed "Love Is Love" sign that once adorned a corner of the couple's kitchen, where some of the sexual abuse took place. Foster said he noticed the married men's Pride-centered decor featured in a number of the child porn videos entered into evidence.
Under police interrogation, Zachary said William started the sexual abuse when he one day "had the urge."
When pressed on whether 10-year-old J.Z., who suffered severe physical injuries from being brutally raped, expressed any pain, Zachary said, "Unfortunately, it seemed like he wasn't bothered by it."
(In initial talks with detectives, the men acknowledged that the boys would cry out during the abuse, but they'd walk them through "how to handle the pain.")
"How did that strike you?" an investigator asked.
Instead of discussing J.Z.'s demeanor during the abuse, Zachary talked at length about how he felt finding out that William had initiated it without him, indicating he was more so upset with the fact that his husband left him out at first.
"And like I said, and then I was concerned that, you know, William had to do something and didn't tell me," Zachary complained. "I even asked him about it one night. I don't know if it was before or after oral. I was like, 'I thought you trusted me, and we could talk about anything.' And I was like, 'I wish you had—this is something you had told me about, let me know.'"
Zachary recounted having sex with William in front of J.Z. as a "tutorial" of sorts.
"So, you know, I just wanted to make sure he was okay. I would check and make sure, you know, he wasn't bleeding or anything. And at the end of the first time that William did [J.Z.] in front of me, William actually did me first in front of [J.Z.] so he could see."
Zachary then nonchalantly described how they began sexually abusing their second, younger son, D.Z.
"Well we have an extra mouth," Zachary once texted William. To which, William replied, "That is true."
During the criminal proceedings, the defense attempted to challenge the charges via a special demurrer in a failed effort to toss out the 17-count indictment entirely. However, the move unwittingly sparked a forensic investigation into the men's 24/7 surveillance system that they had installed in the interior of their home. In response, the state threatened to re-indict the Zulocks on "hundreds" of additional counts, one for every act of abuse found in the footage, if the defense insisted on prosecutors pinpointing definitive dates of when exactly the crimes were committed.
Seven terabytes of data were extracted by the Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) from the 16 security cameras positioned all over the premises, one practically in every room of the property, filming everything non-stop.
Once again, there is no "gay community", let alone LGBTQIA+ community. There are absolutely relatively stable, monogamous, cohabitating homosexuals. They do not represent the majority of homosexuals or homosexual behavior. The police do not kick in their doors. Even fairly religious people, even knowingly, do not deny them routine public accommodations. They have predominantly heterosexual family and neighbors. They do not live in San Francisco, L.A., or New York plowing through partners, passing around STDs, grasping for cultural cache.
The majority of "the community" that does live in SF, LA, and NYC, does plow through partners passing around STDs, does wantonly seek attention everywhere from parades to story hours to pizza-catered weddings, is a Potemkin village cobbled together by activists and pedophiles that will cut their own dicks off and knowingly contract and spread lethal disease for attention. A Potemkin Village meant to run cover for activists, pedophiles, and mental patients.
I don't believe the Qanon conspiracies about secret pedophilia rings any more than I believe vaccines cause autism. But along those very same lines, the rapid, relatively unfettered adoption and institutionalization of them (both vaccines and LGBTQIA+ behavior) by dishonest and coercive force is undeniable.
"gender-affirming hormones on mice"
How are they able to determine what each mouse identifies as?
Trump hears correct things, but only half listens. Like the whole injecting bleach into your veins, thing. He heard someone correctly state that bleach could kill the virus, but they were talking about on surfaces, not inside your body. Or the thing about shining light in your lungs ... was actually a real idea using a LED on a catheter tube to emit UV light as a hypothetical; but he butchered the delivery, and it came out sounding ridiculous. Opponents will correctly point out that he is flat wrong with what he said; Trumpers will take it as well that what he meant, so he was right, anyway.
""Like the whole injecting bleach into your veins, thing.""
Except he never said that. Your post seems to be an example of you doing that. But perhaps worse, you listened and believed people misrepresenting what Trump said. And you are still hanging on to it.
""What's False
However, at no point did Trump explicitly tell people they could or should inject bleach into their bodies.""
https://www.snopes.com/fact-check/trump-inject-bleach-covid-19/
Maybe I'm being too generous with the term misrepresenting. They lied about what Trump said.
Like the who grab them by the pussy thing. People conveniently excluded the "They will let you..." part in order to claim it's a statement of sexual assault. "They will let you.." Describes consent, but that doesn't play well in the media against Trump.
Imagine someone posting from Snopes in here.
"Disinfectant" instead of bleach. I stand corrected, but it's past the timer to correct the post.
I think the real ignominy is when Trump almost died of Covid himself, oversaw the creation and deployment of the Covid vaccine, and then had to be all sad because his idiot followers didn’t buy that all their dead relatives had Covid because Facebook.
Leadership!
Remember when you use to make cogent arguments rather than shitposting? Neither do I, you impotent twerp.
Remember when you use to make cogent arguments rather than shitposting? Neither do I
And interestingly enough, he was AWOL though the whole Biden administration. Almost like even he was too embarrassed to have to come and try to defend that shitshow.
On the contrary, the Biden government was the most successful of my lifetime despite having a bare majority for only two years. To quote someone, what did you miss, the peace or prosperity?
Looks like Liberty_Belle suffers from the condition of "only half listens", too bad she doesn't start with hearing correct things. It's just bullshit all the way down.
Sounds like you hear correct things but only half listens.
Democrats said "Fake but accurate" to defend their lies, remember? That means Trump can say blatantly stupid and false shit, and his defenders will say he was accurate. And it's all ok because Democrats did it first.
Poor sarc.
You seem obsessed with "whataboutism" strawmen lately, sarc. Let me try one last time: No one is saying it's okay for Trump to lie because Democrats lied first ... NO ONE! All clear now?
They're not saying it's ok for Trump to lie, they're defending his lies by saying that even if what he says isn't true it's close enough which makes it ok.
And in case you didn't notice, quite often when I say "It's ok because Democrats did it first" it's a reply to a comment where the person said that but in different words. Then they get all pissy and say it's not what they meant, even if it is what they said. So if you guys want me to stop pointing out what you're doing, you need to stop doing it.
They're not saying it's ok for Trump to lie, they're defending his lies by saying that even if what he says isn't true it's close enough which makes it ok.
No one is doing that, Sarc. If you think they are, cite and link both the supposed lie and the supposed commenter supporting the lie. Just as a reminder, the MSM report a lot of things about Trump that he neither said nor did, so using a lie from CNN (for example) to claim Trump lied is invalid for this exercise.
Pointing out the abject hypocrisy of the people screaming loudest about Trump is the same as endorsing him doing it. (Let’s leave aside for a second that going after corrupt politicians and bureaucrats isn’t corruption, even if you have personal animus towards them.)
And yet another Strawcasmic strawman and false equivalency. So tell me, Sarc, just how much stock did you buy in straw?
Or the thing about shining light in your lungs ... was actually a real idea using a LED on a catheter tube to emit UV light as a hypothetical; but he butchered the delivery, and it came out sounding ridiculous. Opponents will correctly point out that he is flat wrong with what he said; Trumpers will take it as well that what he meant, so he was right, anyway.
So, wait - you're saying that what Trump meant when he was talking about using UV light was actually correct, with a botched delivery, but your takeaway is that his opponents are correct to say that he was wrong and his supporters are wrong to say (as you did) that he was correct but spoke imprecisely?
Apparently things count as lies if Orange Hitler isn't perfectly erudite and scholarly while talking about them.
"Trump hears correct things, but only half listens. Like the whole injecting bleach into your veins, thing."
Right back at you, because Trump never said that.
Wrong, as usual, Lancaster.
CNN did their "fact check" on this subject and said Trump's quote was false.
Come to find out Trump's quote was correct, and even CNN later would admit Trump was right.
Please try to keep up.
CNN has already removed the 'false' tag from the spin of it's "fact checkers".
Doesn’t matter. We must leave no stone unturned to root out any possible challenge to the gender norms we were taught about as young children.
There is no science more important than confirming the things we were taught by kindergarten teachers.
There are two mice genders. That is all ye need to know. The rest is voting for Daddy to hurt the bad people.
Look Tony, if you want transgender mice - go ahead. Do it yourself or pay someone to do it.
I don't want to pay for it.
You’re not paying for it. The least you people can do is figure out how taxes and spending work if you’re going to be constantly bitching about it.
We must leave no stone unturned to root out any possible challenge to the gender norms we were taught about as young children.
This is how you characterize "men shouldn't play on women's sports teams?"
I think women’s sports teams can figure out their own rules without the federal government and the ridiculous drag queens in charge of it dictating matters. I don’t even care about mens’ sports, though. It’s just not something I care about. If I would vote to give up tens of thousands of dollars in social security per year over the matter seems like it would make me the dumbest motherfucker on the planet.
"There are two mice genders."
This is true for all synapsids. Some diapsid and basal tetrapod's gender can be changed by temperature during development, but in synapsids like mammals it always genetic and always a XX and XY binary. Any exceptions are genetic accidents riddled with chronic health problems if they even can make it to birth.
Tony deserves no better than to have his nose rubbed in shit for fucking up the living room carpet. Your patience exceeds my own by leagues.
But I just don’t care what people call themselves because I believe in freedom, understand that language and cultural gender norms are flexible, and I’m not a horrible busybody cunt.
Kindergarten teachers today are far more likely to encourage thinking about changing genders than they are to discourage that line of thought.
Maybe. I haven’t paid attention to kindergarten teachers since I was in kindergarten. Do you spend a lot of time hanging around kindergarten classrooms?
You're the retard who brought up kindergarten teachers in your strawman. I just knocked it down.
It’s just that so many of the loudest voices on maintaining outmoded gender norms end up being exposed as kid fuckers.
Baloney. Name one "kindergarten teacher" who "encouraged thinking about changing genders".
We'll wait.
Trump defenders are quoting CNN? What's the world coming to?
They're quoting CNN's massive backtrack on their initial fact check of false.
Wouldn't that make it false since CNN it a bunch of leftist liars with TDS?
Ohhhh, my bad. I forget that they're right when they agree with the narrative, and wrong the rest of the time.
CNN said one thing that agreed with you and Lancaster and then changed it to a thing that didn't. Since you insist you are a Very Principled Person, which one do you now think was true?
It doesn’t really matter what CNN says cause Joe contradicted the headline on his own article.
They switched from false to "needs context. "
An earlier version of this item incorrectly characterized as false Trump’s claim about federal money being spent for “making mice transgender.” The article has been updated with context about the spending, which was for research studies on the potential human health impacts of treatments used in gender-affirming care.
https://www.cnn.com/2025/03/04/politics/fact-check-trump-address-congress/index.html
But are we shocked to see the same not a leftists here repeating the original declaration without any sort of investigation themselves?
Qb, sarc, Tony, Molly, shrike all only care about the initial narratives they were handed. Won't even double check backtracking from their narrative generators for updates.
By the way I do appreciate you going back to being a passive-aggressive little bitch that doesn't reply to me directly, and instead makes comments like a catty middle-school girl talking shit about someone while they're in the same room.
Beats the heck out of you being a passive-aggressive little bitch who leaves a dozen turds on my all comments like a catty middle-school girl trying to distract, disrupt, and otherwise ruin conversations.
Since you're going to be a passive-aggressive little bitch anyway, the former is better than the latter. Keep it up. Much obliged.
Ideas™ !
Go fiddle yourself, you piece of trash. You call names and troll the heck out of everyone and then pretend you're the victim of bullying.
What garbage.
SQUIRREL!
I mean MOUSE!
There could be valid reasons to study transgender mice, such as the effects that certain chemicals may have on sex development and hormones. Trans kids were practically non-existent until about five years ago which raises the question of why we now hear so much about them, social media overexposure could be the reason, but why not look to see if there is more to it? I’ve heard everything from disposable diapers to soy and hormones in meat as why we don’t see many “real men” anymore and sperm counts have declined.
Because masculinity has been deemed “toxic”.
Mostly due to
indoctrinationfluoride in the water.why not look to see if there is more to it? I’ve heard everything from disposable diapers to soy and hormones in meat as why we don’t see many “real men” anymore and sperm counts have declined.
I think you're retarded because this is as confused as any transgender vs. transgenic mix up, but go ahead... as long as it's with your own money. I and my wife are both objectively more fertile than our parents and even the majority of our grandparents. I don't disagree that sperm counts and even reproduction is down, but it's not my problem.
Feminized male mice = transgender mice (not necessarily transgenic). What causes them to become feminine is a worthwhile question, and if anything I would expect the pro-trans gang to oppose this because it could lead to a cure for being trans.
Glad you think I’m retarded!
Glad you think I’m retarded!
Feminized male = transgender is pretty dumb. Do you worry that if you listen do disco music or make a lot of limp-wristed hand gestures you might be transgender too?
I would expect the pro-trans gang to oppose this because it could lead to a cure for being trans.
This was the gay rights movement circa 1990, being gay is a choice and justice is supposed to be blind and the government doesn't favor choices or pick winners vs. being gay is an inherent trait that people have since birth and needs protection from discrimination, like race. Even before the 90s clinicians were being forced to disregard any form of it as even tenuously associated with a disease. You're talking about people who will pole vault from "My body, my choice." to "Get the jab." If someone discovered a single dose medication that delivered them perfect euphoria as their "assigned at birth" sex that was 100% safe and effective, they'd lynch him.
If they haven't bought the last 3000 yrs. of biology and documented human history, what kind of mouse model study do you think you're going to do that will win them over?
Edit: It occurs to me, part of the issue is their idiocy woven into a potential point of talking past each other as well. That is, lots and lots and lots of mouse cancer studies are completely crap because the research uses mice that have been bred and primed to develop cancer to increase sensitivity. There may be some small value in, e.g., injecting soy isoflavones into relatively normal mice, but the value of feminized/transgender mice as a model of even regular humans, let alone transgender humans is really more akin to just torturing mice (which I'm not exactly opposed to, just not on the taxpayers' dime).
The main point is that it's only 8 million dollars. Why is reason focusing on such a minor issue instead of major waste? Is the goal to stop waste or to make Trump look bad?
Make Trump look bad. These guy's aren't even pretending to be libertarian any more.
And CNN walked back their "fact check" and it now appears that Trump was actually correct.
Lancaster could have been an actual journalist himself and performed at least the minimum modicum of research, but Lancaster doesn't care. He's paid to try and diminish anything Trump does no matter how libertarian.
That's the worst part - he *did* do the research. He even PUTS IT IN THE ARTICLE!
He just somehow thinks that studying 'gender affirming care in mice' - treatments to help you transition - aren't actually transitioning mice.
Lancaster, like Sullum and Boehm, has an agenda, and its goal is simple, really, its sole purpose is to make Trump look bad. The problem with this is that it can backfire spectacularly as in this case where Lancaster actually does mention that the grant was to try to trans mice.
Make Trump look bad.
That's it in a nutshell. These low IQ ghouls can't see beyond their own misery.
The latter.
The line is 'all waste is bad and we should stop it, these amounts are too small to worry about so Trump is over-reaction, Trump is also not doing enough, and what he's doing might possibly, maybe, we don't really know, not constitutional - but we'll start with an assumption that the chief executive is subordinate to the random bureaucrats he is supposed to manage.'
Hickory Dickory Dock. Some chick's been sucking my cock. Clock struck two, dropped my goo...
Then ran into Fauci around the block. Ohhh, now I'm Jack be Nimble.
'No, HHS Didn't Spend $8 Million 'Making Mice Transgender'"
You know what? The factual accuracy of this claim does not matter. The fact that most of us would even pause and consider it possible means the woke insanity went way, way too far.
MAGA trolls don't have high enough IQs to know the difference between transgender and transgenic. Neither do Trump, Musk, or Kennedy.
Lol, this is one of the funniest talking points your bosses have come up with in a long time.
CHARLIE HALL!
A CNN fact check during the speech called Trump's claim "false" and said he had mischaracterized grants from the National Institutes of Health (NIH).
So, let me explain how Leftists bastardize the concept of "fact checking."
Someone says something that the Left doesn't like. Usually something true like, "Boys can't become girls" or "the planet's climate is fine" or "Hamas/Palestine is evil." The "fact checkers" then put up a bunch of babbling nonsense which can easily be condensed into a soundbyte. Sometimes they just make it up out of whole cloth. Either way, the goal is to create a quick delivery system so that all the confirmation bias-seeking headline-only and social media NPCs can quickly digest and regurgitate it. They let this percolate for awhile, usually for the sole purpose of denigrating or ridiculing the person who originally said the true thing. Finally, to keep up the charade that they're unbiased and informative, they quietly stealth update their "fact check" to admit that it was bogus and that the truth thing said was actually true. Long past the time anyone will care anymore.
Which is of course what CNN and the Fake News Industry - and by extension Reason - just did here.
As the saying goes, "a lie gets halfway around the world before the truth has a chance to get its pants on."
Because that's the only way Leftism works. They CONSTANTLY AND GLARINGLY have to lie to everyone's face 24/7. And even when caught doing so, they'll never openly apologize for it or bring it to anyone's attention - because the goal WAS the lie the whole time.
Because when you sincerely believe (or at least want to advance an agenda based on) obviously false things - "climate change is real" "transgenderism is a thing" "mandatory masking helped stop covid" etc etc - lies are all you have to work with.
This feels like we just flipped on our turn signal to take the "Ok it's true, but it's not as bad as you say" exit.
So , on the basis of "likely" and some wonderfulness of transgenic research LIz goes out on a limb and says we really need this mice research-- I am sure many laughed at you for that 🙂
" the program was likely not transgender but transgenic—"
https://x.com/JoeRLancaster/status/1897670931171983426
So, yes, it was federal money used to make mice transgender. For the purpose of studying its effects on susceptibility to HIV, but still, it was done.
Let's just stop using government money for research in general. Private companies and universities can handle it.
And don't forget that federal funding went to Wuhan for gain of function research, even if it was not exactly technically 100% designated for the research that caused the pandemic.
Still waiting for a correction here Reason. Even CNN, stated they were wrong.
I always had my suspicions about Mighty Mouse.
