He's Back!
Plus: A red wave, a mixed night for abortion, and more...

Good morning. Donald Trump is the president-elect. The race was officially called around 5:30 a.m. when Wisconsin's results finally came in. Trump had already won North Carolina, Georgia, and Pennsylvania several hours prior, and expected to win Alaska's three electoral votes (though they're still not technically in yet, since polls in Adak, on the tundra, close at 1 a.m. Eastern Time), so in characteristic fashion, he went ahead and gave a victory speech a bit prematurely a little after midnight.
Overnight, though, everything solidified with the delivery of the Wisconsin count. We're waiting on the swing states Arizona, Nevada, and Michigan to get a full accounting of how Trump performed, but by 1 a.m. last night Kamala Harris was done waiting, and slinked off to bed. She's expected to concede, and give a speech at Howard University, sometime today.

Republicans picked up a Senate seat in West Virginia, with Gov. Jim Justice winning his race to replace an outgoing Sen. Joe Manchin (an independent who frequently caucused with Democrats). They also picked up a Senate seat in Ohio, with Republican Bernie Moreno defeating Democratic Sen. Sherrod Brown. It's unclear how the House will shake out, but it's looking like Republicans may clinch a majority there too.
For those keeping track: That's what a red wave looks like.
There were quite a few surprises, based on exit polls (which, to be clear, are not exactly definitive): Trump performed really well with Latino and black men. The widening education, gender, and income polarization appears to be further bolstered by last night's results: Trump performed really well with non-college-educated voters while Harris performed well with college-educated voters. Less well-off voters went Trump, richer went Harris. The gender gap between married people and parents is minimal; the gender gap between single, unmarried men and women is vast, with single women going aggressively for Harris.
Interestingly, Trump overperformed in urban areas: Vote totals for all five boroughs of New York indicate major growth in support for Trump. But not just New York: Voters in Chicago, Houston, Miami, and elsewhere warmed to the man. In typically staunchly blue states, Harris did poorly while still clinching victory: In 2020, Joe Biden won New Jersey by +16, which Harris appears to have won by only +5. Same story in Illinois, which Biden won by +18, while Harris only won by+5. Harris was, in other words, a poor candidate (something you probably didn't need me to tell you).
As for poor Chase Oliver, we don't have the full popular vote count yet, but it's looking like the Libertarian Party's redheaded stepchild/presidential candidate underperformed Jo Jorgensen, the candidate they ran in 2020. Given that the party at times seemed to support Robert F. Kennedy Jr. and Donald Trump instead of their own candidate, it's no shocker that Oliver struggled. (Currying favor with those others was a highly successful bid for relevance, they'd surely counter; we'll see.)
In ultrablue areas, progressive Democrats faced defeat again and again. Los Angeles voters did away with their District Attorney George Gascón, a Democrat, replacing him with Republican-turned-independent Nathan Hochman. Up north in San Francisco, voters gave more tech-friendly moderate Democrats the go-ahead to replace more radical Democrats on the city's board of supervisors.
Meanwhile, I've been watching MSNBC's meltdown coverage since about 4 a.m. and I am not convinced that they're on the way toward atoning for their identity-politics sins of the last eight years. Though some commentators have been able to concede that Harris was simply a very poor candidate hindered by her late and unconventional entry into the race, others have decided to go with the explanation that her being a mixed-race woman in an interracial marriage was simply "too much" for most of the country to handle, implying racism or intolerance from white voters—an odd explanation given what we're seeing from exit polls about Trump support among black men and Latinos (who appear to have helped him sail to the top). You would think there'd be more analysis as to how much her legions of consultants botched this one, failing to find and stick to a persuasive message, failing to figure out how much or how little to trot out the candidate to the press, failing to pick an appealing running mate, failing to figure out which anti-Vance, anti-Trump lines would be salient.
What now? A second Trump term will bring all kinds of fresh hell, especially for those who are not in this country legally. Trump has promised a massive deportation sweep; his vice president, J.D. Vance, has estimated some 1 million migrants could be deported annually. Trump has vowed to bring back the Remain in Mexico program, which forces asylum seekers to stay on the far side of the southern border while they await court dates to adjudicate their immigration cases. He wants to drastically increase the number of Border Patrol agents, which will come at substantial cost to taxpayers.
Trump has promised across-the-board tariffs, to the tune of either 10 or 20 percent (depending on when you ask him), with possibly higher taxes imposed on Chinese goods. Though we've perhaps avoided the inflationary results that would come from massive government spending under a Harris presidency, prices may well go up drastically if and when Trump implements these tariffs. (Trump's "proposed tariff increases would hike taxes by another $524 billion annually and shrink GDP by at least 0.8 percent," estimates the Tax Foundation.) Trump's government spending has not been very restrained historically, so I would be pleasantly surprised if this time were different.
Trump will also need to resist his authoritarian impulses in terms of prosecuting opponents, and survive his November 26 sentencing following his conviction for falsifying business records (as well as his other unresolved legal cases for which he might be able to pardon himself).
The main "outreach to the middle" Trump needs to do is swear off lawfare. Explain that he won't prosecute his opponents—and then not actually prosecute his opponents.

For libertarians who care about abortion access, last night's results are a decidedly mixed bag. Florida's Amendment 4, which would've created a constitutional right to an abortion, was defeated. Nebraskans voted to enshrine abortion protections up until 12 weeks but defeated a measure that would have legalized it up until week 24. South Dakotans also defeated an amendment that would have expanded abortion access. Arizona and Missouri voted to expand abortion rights.
Weed legalization lost in Florida, and California voters increased penalties for certain drug offenses. One California measure that passed makes shoplifting back into a felony, rolling back a 2014 change that downgraded theft of goods under $950 in value to a misdemeanor.
Some optimism: For years, Americans have been deeply divided, with a portion donning Handmaid's Tale cloaks and hats to vote and march in the streets against theocracy/fascism and a portion declaring that an election was stolen due to mass voter fraud that was never really proven to be true. None of that is going away, per se, but the fact that the electoral and popular votes match up so well, and that there don't appear to have been disturbing voter-machine irregularities, is also a good sign that people will collectively accept these results. The polarization shifts—black and Latino men in particular coming out for Trump, and the Republican Party becoming much more representative of the working class—also bode well for the identity-politics fever breaking, and the Democratic Party no longer attempting to interpret all things through that pointless prism.
Elon Musk may well be appointed secretary of cost-cutting and, at minimum, we know terrible policies like student-loan forgiveness and setting price controls and taxing unrealized capital gains are now totally off the table. It's possible a second Trump term will bring some wins for libertarians, but it's totally contingent on who he appoints to serve and whether his attempts to grow his own power get sufficiently reined in.
Scenes from New York: Harris still won in New York City, but not by the margins Democrats typically win by. In literally all five boroughs, Trump did better than expected.
Kamala Harris, with >95% of precincts reporting, is polling at 67.8% of the vote in New York City.
If that holds, that would be the WORST performance for a Democratic Presidential candidate in the five boroughs since 1988 (!!!!)
A disastrous evening for Democrats in Gotham.

QUICK HITS
- If you want the short form of today's Roundup, I wrote a summary of the results here:
GOOD MORNING to those just waking up who want a rundown of the results:
-Trump declared winner around 5:30 a.m. He won Pennsylvania, Georgia, and Wisconsin. Michigan, Arizona, Nevada results TBD but not needed. He will win Alaska (but it's not in yet). He's also doing very well…— Liz Wolfe (@LizWolfeReason) November 6, 2024
- The real upshot:
Elon just did a hostile takeover of the entire administrative state pic.twitter.com/NrZKQXxQqQ
— Chrisman (@chrismanfrank) November 6, 2024
- "Republican control of the Senate…likely dashes progressives' hopes of dramatically shifting the burden of US taxation toward corporations and wealthy individuals as trillions of dollars worth of provisions in the 2017 tax law expire at the end of next year," reports Bloomberg.
- Yes, also as an appreciator of rich guys and building stuff I very much relate:
Significant trend this year - Dems running the "these rich guys just want to cut their own taxes" 2012 message, and voters saying: Hm, I like these rich guys, they build stuff and hate DC, just like me. https://t.co/jmxR8dxHxP https://t.co/MU1vI3rii9

Found the literary Hitler.
And now I’m going to put out a video of myself yelling at my staff because Harris lost.
Your staff came in? Mine are calling in depressed.
It's a play on the Hitler reference.

Is "fraulein" German for handmaid?
it is now.
Just checking in on the "there wasn't enough fraud to make a difference in 2020" crowd.
How's the crow taste?
There were a lot more eyes on this election and judges were quick to act.
When Philly tried banning GOP election observers judges were quick to force them to be allowed in.
There were still some random late night dumps on GA and Wisc, but the margin was too big. At one point GA claimed they had a batch of 100k votes.
Raffensberger needs to answer for crap like that.
I think they were actually trying ballot dumps in Fulton and Gwinnett Counties until Raffensberger released a statement that the margin of remaining registered voters was too large for Harris to overcome. Georgia got called for Trump not too long after that.
Amd this is a very different RNC since they got rid of Ronna McDaniel. Lots more lawyers and a very improved ground game.
Yeah, it's a big fucking shock that a Romney was undermining GOP election efforts.
Let's ask Sandra.
Now, now, be nice.
I tried to tell her that “recency bias” would not be a positive for dems this year, and that in fact, the pendulum swings more quickly in the 2020s than previously, and the era of the two (consecutive) term president could be over.
Having said that, Sandra is decidedly not on my list of people who need their noses rubbed in their own shit today. She did have a reasonable point in wondering why the fraud factor would not prevail again if you believe that it worked last time.
Not sure I have an answer for that, although I am right about most things. Haha.
We saw what happened. A much more mature legal team in every swing state quick to go to courts. That didn't exist in 2020.
I just can't believe Trump was able to blow past the margin of fraud this time. The actual difference must've been huge. I wonder how many people actually voted for Kamala.
Nobody named Biden, for sure.
I can’t imagine the amounts of pants-shitting laughter emanating from Joe Biden since last night, he’s got to be burning through Depends faster than a rest home on taco night.
*high fives to the Big Guy
He did help stick it to Kamala. And not in the way that she’s used to.
margin of fraud
Thought not previously considered: Popular sentiment of “Don’t even fucking try it.”
Given Biden’s historic “80 Million votes” in a historic pandemic with everyone locked down, and the fact that neither of these candidates hit the mark, I wouldn’t be surprised by and “A little from column A and a little from column B” conclusions.
The importance of Elon Musk buying Twitter cannot be overstated.
One of the most monumental turning points in American history.
A media source mostly free from centralized, autocratic control.
Agreed.
Indeed.
Yep.
It really was too big to rig. Pres Trump was right.

wow that's crazy they were able to find 15M extra votes in the year all the guardrails were removed
Your typical internet progressive is a very low-effort voter. They'll vote if they don't have to walk farther than their mailbox, but once you ask them to put pants on it becomes too much hassle.
I don't think that's accurate, and voting is extremely easy anyway.
The effort in question isn't that of voters, but that of vote counters (and all officials or institutions tasked with checking the election).
I think the Ds simy ran out of steam in the face of Trump's+Musk's+Rep's watchdogs and the scrutiny of a free media (Twitter).
The extraordinary effort in 2020 took thousands of people and days of extra effort.
To be fair, I think Harris will end up much closer to 70M by the time the final tally comes in. It still doesn't make 2020 less of an outlier.
Yeah. Again, even if you don't think Boris Badenov and Natasha Fatale snuck in the back door with a bag with the word "ballots" written on the side and dumped the contents into the cart where election workers dump the ballots before they've been counted, 2020 by virtually every metric is objectively exceptionally fucked up from a government control/social engineering standpoint.
Like arguing that there could be no question about the outcome of the 1876 election and it was just as honest, fair, and straightforward as the one before or after.
Drago (the younger, boxer)?
Julie Andrews?
Did Kamala come out of her hangover to concede the race?
You knew it was over when Harris folks told the people at her event that they didn't expect results and were calling it a night. They *bolted* out of the venue. Five minutes later there was just some trash blowing on the lawn...

It was a Harding race, but in the end, the winning candidate was able to Trump the opposition.
I’ll Grant you that he was able to Pierce through the obstacles and convince voters to avoid the pig in the Polk. Any Truman understood that he was Taylor made to return to the WH compelling voters to Fillmore ballots in his name. He managed to avoid the Bush league tactics to Ford across the rough waters. Check out the Lincoln the description.
Stop. Those puns are too concentrated. You’re inadvertently making a black hole.
Hayes now, you don't have to get Madi, son.
Chumby”s puns trump all others.
in nonconsecutive terms, too.
Hole color is the most important thing.
I’ll make some Adams here, Jackson. He will be able to Reagan over the executive branch in a few months and Hoover the deep state out of government. He can Harrison them to no end in court, Nixon-ing their agenda.
Donald Trump is the president-elect.
My heart goes out to all the handmaids and handbutlers who will now be forced to give birth against their will. See you in the camps.
Died from covid, I'll be there in spirit.
A few boosters should get you going.
"handbutlers"
Was that an option? Asking for a friend.
I think it's code for gay handjobs.
Oh. I'll be sure to tell my friend then. >_>
Is he Libertarian?
If so, he’ll want to chase down that fella to share this information.
Maybe Chase Oliver would have done better if he offered more of those on the campaign trail.
In the end, he just wasn’t gay enough.
They aresecretly thrilled at the prospect of living out their favorite dominance/submission fantasy.
Then I look forward to seeing more Handmaid costumes in public, especially on the fatties.
There's a lot of blue-haired, spandex-wearing land whales that long skirts and a bonnet would certainly help.
Don’t those usually also have a penis?
Just because they have a penis doesn’t mean they can’t get pregnant!

Or at least look the part.
NGL, the women I've known who are obsessed with the book/show are absolutely the type.
Trump performed really well with Latino and black men.
Internalized MAGA.
Living La Vida MAGA.
OK, I lol'd
This is gonna be a really fun comment thread.
At least until the whiners show up. Then it will get even funner. Haha.
Let’s continue….
Kamala performed really well with Willie Brown. He gave her a promotion.
And a tip?
Just the tip.
From "down the throat" to "on the face"?
Is that a gay thing?
White supremacists, all of them.
Libritarians and the dems both ran pro pedofile Marxists.
"The main “outreach to the middle” Trump needs to do is swear off lawfare. Explain that he won’t prosecute his opponents—and then not actually prosecute his opponents."
Unless they've actually broken the law.
He flat out said he would pardon hunter
It would be actually extremely fucking hilarious to see Trump pardon Hunter, and then Hunter flip and praise Trump.
He probably ought to pardon Hunter for the things currently on the table (gun, taxes). Hunter's crimes were prosecuted as they were largely because of who he is, not what he did, much like Trump's own legal issues. But don't include anything that might come up in corruption charges on Joe's 10% for the Big Guy; even that I'd recommend not using DOJ for, but if Congress wants to do some hearings...
I'm good with a pardon because they have probably let the statute of limitations run out. In exchange for the pardon, he needs to come clean, and dish on any and all of the activities so something will actually be done to clean shit up. Pardon the shithead and his turd dad, but make it conditional on making things better.
Again, looking for entertainment, pardon Hunter and offer him immunity if he testifies against Joe.
It might become moot very soon, as I don't expect Joe Biden to live that much longer. People with his level of dementia who are shuffling along when they walk (possibly Parkinsons too) tend not to live that much longer. Also, being the president probably kept him with a purpose to keep pushing forward, but that's about to be over. Even people more healthy than Joe tend to go downhill fast when they retire and don't have a driving purpose to keep pushing them, unfortunately.
What was Joe's Special Purpose?
While he was likely being led by his Dem/Deep State handlers, he still had the title of President of the United States. I think he saw himself an a very important leader who needed to hold on so he could continue to "lead" us.
Ya, sorta like another Pennsylvania joe, Paterno.
Come to think of it, there are some striking similarities…. Forced out, retired, then died. And some seriously pervy stuff.
Bear Bryant, famously.
What are the odds that Joe pardons him in the next week, all reasons he had for holding off are now longer on the table.
Gun sure. Taxes fuck no. Normal people get hit with that shit all the time.
Have a press conference where he announces that all of Hunter's charges are being dropped and expunged, then announce that he's bringing RICO and insurrection charges against George and Alex Soros, with the caveat that they can avoid prosecution if they renounce their citizenship and leave the country permanently. My sides would go into orbit.
an odd explanation given what we're seeing from exit polls about Trump support among black men and Latinos (who appear to have helped him sail to the top)
Joy Reid was disgusted by the Hispanics that voted for him despite the insulting things he said about them.
What about the insulting things SHE said about them?
#amnesty
That's (D)ifferent.
No more mercy.

For you “conservatives” who haven’t sufficiently hardened your hearts:
“People should either be caressed or crushed. If you do them minor damage they will get their revenge; but if you cripple them there is nothing they can do. If you need to injure someone, do it in such a way that you do not have to fear their vengeance”. - Niccolo Machiavelli
If you shoot at the king you best not miss. - omar.
Let's not talk about what happened to Omar.
What, did her brother-husband vote for Trump?
Tiger ate him.
This brings to mind the clip from Hoffa where he tells his assistant to fire some people and then explains why you do it right away.
Nobody's above the law, am I right?
Stallone voiceover: "I am the law!"
Not with Nico Toscani around.
If he didn't bother to prosecute Hillary Clinton in his first term, I doubt he will really be bothered with prosecuting anyone on his "enemies list" this time either. "I am your retribution" can simply mean "My election will be enough punishment to my naysayers.
Especially given the broader context: "In 2016, I declared 'I am your voice.' Today I add: 'I am your warrior. I am your justice, and for those who have been wronged and betrayed, I am your retribution,'"
You may be right but I'm not so sure. Last time around he listened to the type of people that wanted John Bolton and for things to stay the same with some wins around the edges, I don't think that's the case this time around. Also, Hillary didn't go after him personally with her actions as SoS that she deserved prison for.
Last time he didn't even pick Pence. They told him that Pence would be his man.
This is a lot of rationalization. Hillary absolutely went after him. The entire Steele Dossier was her campaign.
Listen to why Trump says he hired Bolton. He talks about it on the Rogan podcast. Trump knew who Bolton was, and didn't want him anywhere near executive power- which is why he made the guy a diplomat. Basically, Trump felt Bolton was the perfect foil. He could stand there with Bolton and the leaders would be like "Whatever you want, Trump, just shut that guy up!"
Fuck that, Jerry B. Time for some people to hire lawyers, because they are going to be prosecuted, and imprisoned. But before then, they'll be dismissed from their employment, and denied money to defend themselves.
A threat isn't credible without some examples.
Why aren't the cities all in flames?
LA was already burned down last week
Too busy crying.
Tears put out the flames...... for now.
Just you wait!
January 20 like in 2017.
Probably because it wasn't even close.
JD Vance was wrong about Trump.
They are all too busy knitting their pussy hats. When they're done, they'll be out in the streets.
So that's why the co-op was out of pink yarn.
They banned everything flammable?
Because the election was fair and fraud-free. How do we know? Trump won.
He is so hated, he even got the PoPuLaR vOtE!
It's going to be awkward when the progressives call for an end of the electoral college AND the popular vote.
Duh. Why else invest so heavily in a model where the elite class runs the world?
They can save everyone the trouble of voting and read their brains with their phone! This could actually be a thing, excepting those presently complicated laws that require getting out of bed and punching in with a physical ballot.
Oh, it may seem strange today. But even alcohol tasted strange at one time before it became an economic necessity.
Things have been sent our way. You might be the only remaining fellow in a leather thong, with his sceptre aflame, trying to figure out where the noise went that controlled the weather, only to look upon election tallies for definition :haha:
There is fraud every election buddy. Only idiots believe elections are perfectly clean.
Well if that's the metric you want to use. Go for it.
Wrong, O Great Retardo.
There was shitloads of cheating going on almost everywhere. The glorious bastards actually made it past your sizeable margin of fraud. Americans got together an made it too big for you to steal.
There was shitloads of cheating going on almost everywhere.
Evidence?
Oh wait, you and your team don't need evidence. It's a non-falsifiable argument. Since lack of evidence only proves that the fraudsters cheated really well, and the problem is bigger than we all can imagine.
Have to give the garbage some credit for consistency.
Back in 2020 the Democrats were claiming voter suppression and mail-in ballots being thrown out right up to election day, then the day after switched to saying the election was clean.
These guys, on the other hand, claim massive fraud no matter who wins.
Caw caw!
You two fascist DNC mouthpieces are really going to try to go the "No evidence" route?
There was shitloads of fraud, lawyers and judges around the country were bringing cases and make quick rulings yesterday from Maine to San Fran.
You both need to be fired, your so useless at this.
Every time you call leftists "fascist", they win.
No. Every time you misidentify them as anything but, they win. "Leftist" is a meaningless nothing term.
Socially, economically and politically they line up with the Fascists. Not the Maoists, not the Leninists, not the Trotskyites, but with the policies and practices of the Nationalsozialistische Deutsche Arbeiterpartei . They might give them different names, like CRT, but it's still the exact same ideas.
Because, Mike, we know fraud exists. We understand corruption exists. We aren't stupid enough to think voting is the only realm of government free of corruption.
Not all of us are ignorant like you, Jeff, and sarc.
This is why we advocate for election integrity while you see to say no problem to even illegals voting.
Must be a tough morning running the Nardz and JesseAz accounts at the same time.
We've all noticed how the Nardz persona was scared shitless and keeping his head down prior to the election. Now that your man is back in charge of the FBI you can say anything.
Interesting to hear you talk about running multiple accounts... Have you spoken to your kettle lately?
Bring back the Mike Laursen account! As retarded as that one was, it was slightly better than this persona.
Duck salad is an idiot, but he doesn't elevate ass-kissing of ENB to an art from, the way he did under the Laursen account. I suppose that would be too obvious, outing him as a sock.
His White Knight sock wasn't quite so obvious as his Laursen on the ENB praise but it was there.
The reason he's not doing it so much as fucksalad, is because ENB isn't pissing everyone off with her proggy nonsense in the Roundups anymore.
Open to being wrong here, but wouldn’t be surprised if ENB filed a restraining order on him after his Mastodon stalking of her. She doxxed someone for telling her to make a sammich. Hence the paucity of Mike posts simping for ENB.
Actually, Chumpy, one thing I do have in common with Mike Laursen is that I think ENB is generally on the right side of things. Her main issue isn't my main issue but when she weighs in on other stuff it's usually pretty good.
In general the Reason writers that piss off Jesse/Nardz are the best ones.
Dicksalad is a squawking bird named Dee.
The only person who would ever claim to have common ground with Mike Laursen is Mike Laursen.
Death by fire extinguisher, indeed!
Lol. This is exactly how Mike outed his white knight sock. Literally the exact same way.

White Knight pointed out, correctly, that you are very logical, but quite unaware that you often engage in not seeking out information that goes against your narratives, garbage-in/garbage-out logic, and not checking your conclusions for basic sanity. You should have listened to White Knight.
He loves praising himself lol.
That pretty much confirms that Ducksalad is Mike Laursen and the infamous White Knight.
Joy Reid and Jen Psaki also psay psocialist pshit that libertarians find pstupid. Dog bites man story.
Those types claiming to be “libertarian” are really CUCLLs.
CUCLL = Collectivist Undercover Cosplaying Liberal Libertine
I coined this.
Caw caw!
Oh mike. You really are spiraling aren't you. Lol. God famn. Weak even for you defending gmo turducken and HO2.
Maybe because we're looking at the mechanisms to prevent fraud instead of who wins and you retards are looking to win by any means necessary that generates the inconsistency.
Loser.
It’s going to be a rough time for human traffickers and pedophiles. You should get a move on to whatever hole you got lined up.
2008 Obama - 69.5M
2012 Obama - 65.9M
2016 Clinton - 65.9M
2020 Biden - 81.3M
2024 Harris - ~66.4M
One of these is not like the others....
Y'all need to get your narrative straight. Is it:
"Huge numbers of Hispanics and black men finally gave up identity politics and decided to Make America Great Again"
or
"16 million of Biden's 2020 votes were fraudulent"
Get together offline, so we don't have to watch the disgusting spectacle, and decide how to split it up. E.g., 6M enlightened Latinos, 3M newly liberated black men, 7M fewer fraudulent votes. Then come back and least tell the same story.
What's your explanation?
Just spitballing....a big part really is minority groups finally abandoning identity politics.
Which doesn't necessarily mean they now vote for stuff I think is good. As we just saw, many now fall for the same dumb shit you do.
The biggest part is people who just vote against whoever is in charge. The Democrats were in charge so they voted against them.
The Democrats were in charge so they voted against them.
You understand that I'm asking about the missing 20 million'ish voters between '20 and '24 right? You're saying these are minorities just staying home?
This is laughable.
Up to last week y'all were claiming it was stuff like 20,000 in one state, 20,000 in another. Just enough so you could say Trump had really won in 2020.
Now you're saying 20 million.
Yup, that is White Mike. Too dumb to figure it out despite being told over and over again.
Ducksalad is a squawking bird named Dee.
Why do you think there's an incongruity there? Unless you are saying those 14 million votes all moved to Trump.
(Spoiler alert: They didn't. Trump has only increased his totals by about 3 million. Harris lost 14 million of Biden's totals. So that leaves 11 million "unaccounted for".)
There are many possible explanations, all of them more plausible that a vast conspiracy involving 14- 3 = 11 million votes.
1. Some did in fact move to Trump, and it could be more than 3 million. For example, it could be 4 million moved to Trump and 1 million former Trump voters stayed home.
2. Plenty stayed home. Trump and Harris both had high negative ratings. This includes former “minority bloc” voters who finally figured out they’re just like everyone else…entitled to stay home.
This seems a stretch to say the least.
What's the stretch? You can't believe that anyone would switch their vote to Trump?
And anyway DesigNate's numbers are inflated. As EV and many others are pointing out, you can't compare incomplete 2024 totals to final 2020 totals.
Caw caw!
Acknowledging that he picked up more minority votes doesn't contradict the narrative though.
FWIW, I don't think they fabricated all 11 million of those votes, but the idea that Joe Biden had that big a spike just seems farcical on its face.
The latest estimate I saw (from EV, but quoting other sources) is 19M votes still uncounted.
Just for a rough estimate, let’s say they split 10M Trump and 9M Harris. All of a sudden that takes your 11M discrepancy down to 2M. I can very easily believe movers + abstainers totaled 2M.
It’s odd. Trump supporters on a comment thread swamped by Trump supporters, and yet you don’t want to believe people switched to your candidate.
TBF, I was just going off the current totals as posted when I googled it.
We'll see how it all shakes out in a week or two when all the numbers have been finalized. If turnout really does end up mirroring 2020, I'll be impressed.
I don't think it'll exactly mirror, it really does look like Harris underperformed. And by enough to explain several million votes less than 2020.
Caw caw!
Do the words “too big to rig” mean anything to you? It’s not the first time this election, including primaries, that it’s happened.
Poor sarc.
I'm surprised sarcjeff is currently lucid enough to type. Figured he'd be face down in a pool of his own bloody vomit by now. Bye Felicia.
Meanwhile, I've been watching MSNBC's
meltdowncoverage since about 4 a.m. and I am not convinced that they're on the way toward atoning for their identity-politics sins of the last eight years. Not when you have Russia calling in bomb threats to fall back on.
They are screaming voter suppression too.
Anything less than 110% turnout is evidence of MAGA-Russian-plantation vote suppression.
They are far too committed to their ideology and to themselves to ever consider something so adverse as self reflection.
They will just have to go extinct, as do all things they cannot or will not adapt to reality.
What are we going to do with all the empty humanities department buildings on college campuses? Housing for the destitute (including former humanities professors)?
Just for the record, the ones actually arrested were liberals.
...bode well for the identity-politics fever breaking, and the Democratic Party no longer attempting to interpret all things through that pointless prism.
No matter how sour, that Kool-Aid is going to be a staple in a certain segment's diet for years to come.
Kool-aid like at Jonestown?
Elon just did a hostile takeover of the entire administrative state...
He's going to find there is no arm big enough to grasp hold of that bureaucratic engine.
I'd rather he burn it down.
Word
"Grab the torches boys, were gonna hunt ourselves a big fat bureaucracy"
We don’t need no water, let the motherfucker burn. Burn, motherfucker, burn.
Only need a couple of Teslas to get the party started.
But are his legs long enough to floor the peddle and drive it off a cliff? He and Trump clasping hands in a blue convertible has the makings of a Hollywood movie. Maybe Tarantino will direct once he finds out America has in fact not died.
Unrealistic. Tesla doesn’t make a convertible.
Did you forget the Roadster, like the one in orbit?
I guess I should have said currently.
Bullshit. Rather than off a cliff, Roadster out of the hanger of a gold-plated Space X Starship from orbit.
Have some fucking respect for men of such impeccable taste.
Like the opening scene from Heavy Metal.
https://youtu.be/t_KXgFpguE0
Fuck, I love that movie.
Best South Park eposide ever.
Right. Heavy Metal meets Thelma and Louis. 'Merica!
Fuck yeah!
What will be even more entertaining is to watch Trump discard Elon as the useful idiot he has enthusiastically played.
yup - the moment Elon says something smart that doesn't idolize Trump sufficiently, he'll be fired
Your cope and seethe is better than I hoped it would be this am, Lying Jeffy.
I'm quite enjoying his boiling rage.
Fired? Or sent to the gulag?
Weren’t you laughing at the rest of us yesterday, bragging about how great it will be when Chase Oliver is the difference that costs Trump the White House?
I thought Chase would have a poor showing, as he was a poor candidate for the LP to nominate (and that’s saying something), but I didn’t think that not only would he lose to Jill Stein, but he got fewer votes than RFK, Jr. who DROPPED OUT OF THE RACE A COUPLE MONTHS AGO.
*That said, I do give you credit for showing up today in the comments today, when it would have been easy for you to ghost this for a few days.
The only place Chase Oliver did well was Bend, Oregon for some crazy ass reason.
Bend over, Oregon?
Is that why Pete Buttigieg was mayor of South BEND, IN?
Maybe the residents there are cheeky.
I'm already seeing neocons at Patterico's site talk about taking over the Libertarian party and making it a Reagan-era throwback.
That's just fucking stupid. The party itself may not be into fighting the culture war, but Oliver's showing is proof that registered Libertarians won't turn out for someone trying to ignore it as a the driving force of politics right now, and they certainly won't support someone like "Bomb 'Em Into Dust" Cheney or the Lincoln Project twats trying to find another party to parasitize off of after the Dems kick their jobber asses to the curb.

The main “outreach to the middle” Trump needs to do is swear off lawfare. Explain that he won’t prosecute his opponents—and then not actually prosecute his opponents.
What is with the constant table punding to not hold people who used government to abuse citizens or Trump accountable?
Why is this so different from the articles here demanding we remove immunity from police officers?
It comes across as simply defending democrats and bureaucracy from violations of their power.
That is not how you stop abuses.
Be consistent. If you demand officers be held accountable, demand all state workers in violation.
Simple fix. Prosecute them, just don't have Trump incite it or be a part of the prosses.
Corporate media and people like Sullum have set up the narrative that any response is revenge.
And that is why today, Don Jr needs to take his dads phone away and stop him from tweeting his plans for revenge.
Fuck that.
We want a reckoning.
You're welcome to be on the receiving end of it.
reminds me of
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AXHZaDiBKsU
Haha, no.
I foresee a bit of a problem whereby he hasn't been a part of the process for the last four years and, for the last 8, large swaths of the population have been sold on narratives so insane as to involve Russians and that Trump will ban abortion.
Not disagreeing with you that he needs to be hands off. Just saying that the only way he would be hands off enough for a loud, activist portion of the electorate, the globalist government-corporate-media establishment, or both, is if he'd eaten a bullet in Pennsylvania.
You're right. Glass shards from the teleprompter wouldn't cut it for the rabid assholes of the left.
It's not how you stop abuses but it is how you enable the marxist revolution. Revealed preference in the viewpoint that makes their seeming inconsistency consistent, as horrid as that is.
It's only ok when Democrats do it, it's just (D)ifferent, ok?
This. If you don’t want more, there needs to be consequences.
How about this:
IF Trump decides to go down this path, he should not deliberately target Democrats. He should hold EVERYONE accountable for ANY law that they might have broken, no matter how minor or petty.
Sound good to you?
Fuck off, loser.
How about you go fuck yourself. You are the embodiment of what the American people overwhelmingly rejected yesterday.
You mean, they rejected individual liberty? That seems obvious enough. You’re right for once!
And thanks for implicitly admitting that when you and your team want to 'enforce the law', what you really want is for Trump to target Team Blue only.
They picked individual liberty over the globohomo shit you espouse daily here, asshole.
Go fuck yourself, Jeffy, if you can even reach that far.
Haha, here’s Lying Jeffy claiming Kamala Harris is for individual liberty! Fucking retarded liar.
Dumbdumb d-dumbdumb, dumb dumb.
Sad collectivist loser. Your pathetic attempts at reestablishing libertarianism as Leftitarianism has failed. Fuck off fatty.
Your team is the one trying to redefine libertarianism as Trumpertarianism. Same thing, except occasionally says a few bad things about Orange Jesus. Some of us realize that liberty is not exclusively a right-wing phenomenon.
Redefining words and assigning new meanings has been your stock-in-trade here for years. Who the fuck are you kidding.
Like the sociopath you are, you've been trying desperately to portray authoritarianism, aristocratism and elitism here for years as a flavour of libertarianism, but to no avail.
Damn, you’re delusional as well as stupid.
You love liberty like a pedophile loves children, Jeffy.
Are you saying he wants to ejaculate on its corpse?
He is also the embodiment of the countries obesity problem. Boom. Jeff wins.
All pedophiles should be thrown in a pit of snakes, Lying Jeffy.
hold EVERYONE accountable for ANY law that they might have broken,
no matter how minor or petty.Go after the major players who committed serious crimes. Start with Fauci.
^
That’s not gonna go very well for the establishment…
IF Trump decides to go down this path, he should not deliberately target Democrats. He should hold EVERYONE accountable for ANY law that they might have broken, no matter how minor or petty.
You know what? I agree with you chemjeff. I think Liz Cheney (R) needs to be held accountable.
I'll legitimately laugh my ass off if he's petty enough to bring up Dick Cheney on war crimes charges, while pardoning Hunter with Joe Biden grinning like a proud papa at the press conference.
Ok. Border jumpers first, then government rats.
Sound good to you?
They need to go after those who abused, bent, and broke the law to commit lawfare. That includes Jack Smith and Marc Elias.
Elias is a massive fraudster, but he really needs to go after Michael Teter and the 65 Project for maliciously trying to deny him his Sixth Amendment rights.
I believe that this is Reason's way of of making The Libertarian Case for Qualified Immunity.
If projections hold, it looks like Democrats managed to steal themselves a couple of Senate seats, stemming the red wave on that front.
Where? The remaining races are Democrat seats trying to hold off Republican challengers. I don't see a Republican threatened with a loss.
Where? Maybe Arizona? Otherwise, the GOP will have 53 Senate seats, minimum plus President of the Senate.
Can The Avengers, and Harrison Ford, Taylor Swift, and their condescending smug buddies all hop on a party bus headed for Canada? I'll even pay for the bus.
(I don't have a lot of money for this, so it might be one of those fly by night bus companies that don't fix the brakes. Or Jihadi Buslines.)
Of course, if we get the Epstein and Diddy lists soon, much of that issue may be resolved.
Those need to be released 1 pm EST on January 20, 2025.
It was so hard to vote against Hawkeye, but I had to stick with my convictions.
Movie star opinions are worthless.
Didn't they come up with "Kamala Harris, Down with Democracy" as their catchphrase during that cringey zoom meeting?
Remember when shrike told us how crucial the Swift endorsement was?
I wonder how he’s going to explain what’s happening to Wallstreet this am?
It’s Turd. Turd will find a lie as Turd lies.
He will credit Biden.
Something, something, cheezy poofs.
We don't want them. Trudeau is facing an even bigger asskicking than the Democrats next year. They're just going to have to pick up and move again.
Hmm, then where will Liberal-topia HQ be? CHAZ 2.0, or the new micro-republic of Davos?
Venezuela!
Do you hear yourself?
I gotta wonder if Canada is ready for the massive influx of immigrants that are going to talk about moving there.
We need to see a new meme after the template of the WWF trump body slam of CNN ... only this time he takes on the avengers and the cast of star wars
I really hate that entertainers feel like they need to tell us their political stances.
Like just fucking give me an awesome Avengers movie and shut the fuck up.
A proper society would treat them like the jesters that they are.
Like just fucking give me an awesome Avengers movie and shut the fuck up.
This is 2024. You'll get neither.

Absolutely
Trump dancing in the background is the chef’s kiss.
https://x.com/DissidentMedia/status/1854134993443869051
That's horrible in all the best ways.
I, still, am amazed that people are so narcissistic and shameless that they will go on social media bawling their eyes out in a ridiculous mental breakdown.
Personally, I'd be mortified. Not only do I see grief as a private thing, but revealing to the world how unstable, how mentally unbalanced you are is just unthinkable.
Which, I guess, makes me laugh all the harder at Trump dancing in the background. I have no pity for these idiots, only disgust. They deserve to be mocked to the end of their days.
Don't you get the woke paradigm? Being emotionally unhinged is a virtue, and sharing your insanity, especially depression and despair, earns social points.
Exactly.
And that mortifies me.
I'm way off topic, but when venmo came out, and people were publicly sharing their financial transactions, I knew I'd completely lost touch with the modern world. I wish I could say it hasn't gotten worse since then, but I'd be lying.
I have lost touch with the zeitgeist. I'm OK with that. Fuck the zeitgeist. But I'm definitely out of touch with those people.
HA HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
Guess which one is Jeff.
Milkshake machine worked at the McDonald's near me yesterday. The world is healing.
"The ice cream machine is down" line they tell you is because they already cleaned the machine for the night and don't want to have to clean it again. They just tell you it's broken.
How quickly will the dems try and impeach him this time? I'm guessing two weeks.
Can they impeach him to prevent the inauguration? Put on a quick show trial for Christmas to nail him for insurrection, evidence be damned...if only they held the House.
Can we have another Hollywood-produced "congressional" donkey show?
In a Republican-controlled House (as it currently is, and is likely to remain)?
they have said if he wins they will title 25 him for insurrection and several others said they will not accept his electors. and of course he has to survive what violence may come next before the inauguration
Except that there is a major flaw in the Democrats’ plan. They will not be in the majority in either the House or the Senate, and they cannot impeach him before he takes office.
Not with a GOP Senate Majority. IF the House flips and Jeffries goes for impeachment, the Dems are doomed. This election indicates the population is sick of the Dem divisiveness and likely some Dems that just flipped seats will not go along with it. There goal is reelection, not leaving Washington in two years.
Their goal
If the final tally had been closer, I think they probably would have tried that, based on the usual bullshit reasons.
But it wasn't really that close. He fucking destroyed her, even getting the popular vote, by all appearances. Even her media allies are conceding that it's as clear of a rebuke against the Dems as you can get.

Trump is going to appoint two, maybe three more SCOTUS picks and we are repealing the NFA
I wonder if liberals are still interested in expanding the court.
Sure.
My pipe-dream suggestion for years has been to give each presidential term two picks independent of vacancies (to be done in the first and third years of the term, so as not to be too close to normal senate/house/presidential elections). Depending on health of the justices, this would expand the court to some degree, and it would be unlikely to ever sink below six. To the degree that we should worry about the political composition o f the court, that the presidency tends to swing back and forth between parties would mean it would be roughly balanced.
I would accompany this with a new level of review for the SCOTUS, similar to how the federal appeals courts work: when you first get to SCOTUS, you get three random justices, and only get the full court if the decision is appealed again and the whole court takes it.
who on the bench is retiring/dying in the next 4 years?
Alito, Thomas, maybe one of the leftists
Trump could just pick up the talking points that liberals were making on expanding the court.
There's so many things Trump could pick up, trot out, just to make talking heads explode.
"You know, when Democrats talked about expanding the Supreme Court, I thought it was a bad idea, but now that I've thought about it for awhile, it's actually a great idea and I'm glad I had it!"
"Joe Biden gave directives to the Border Patrol to just let illegal aliens go and not prosecute them. I'm going to direct the NLRB to give the same treatment to businesses."
"States and cities have enacted various 'sanctuary' actions, mostly instructing their LEOs to ignore federal law and not assist federal actions against illegal aliens or marijuana. I'm here today to encourage states to pass '2nd Amendment sanctuary' actions, and encourage them to ignore federal gun laws and not help BATF prosecutions."
"I've got a phone and pen..."
"I encourage the Senate to use the nuclear option to approve my appointees..."
Also, every single EO that Biden flipped over Trump's first term, flip back on Day 1.
It's well established that any EO (D) wants to make, or break, is totally acceptable, while any EO that Trump wants to make is racist and any EO Trump wants to break is subject to innumerable layers of bureaucracy.
repealing the NFA
*tilts head like puppy*
More rapists?
Trump has vowed to bring back the Remain in Mexico program, which forces asylum seekers to stay on the far side of the southern border while they await court dates...
Maybe Mexico will offer asylum instead. That would teach Trump a lesson.
Do they need more food trucks?
Mexico could certainly use a huge helping of all of those "only positive impact" immigrants that Democrats want to heap upon us.
"One California measure that passed makes shoplifting back into a felony, rolling back a 2014 change that downgraded theft of goods under $950 in value to a misdemeanor."
Yikes! Koch-funded libertarians had their signature cause (open borders) definitively rejected ........ and now they find even California is moving away from their soft-on-crime #FreeTheCriminals agenda? 🙁

Any regrets now on attacking Trump "dead enders?"
^
Ahhhhhh, Nardz thinks he's in a position to gloat.
I pointed out Trump's drawbacks and eventually settled on the idea that he still had a 30 to 40% chance of beating Harris.
You, OTOH, actually admitted in your psychopathic worldview Trump couldn't possibly win, but you were OK with this because you wanted his inevitable loss to spark a Second Civil War.
You should go back to your parody account.
Come on now, don't pick on Sandy. I see her point, but I just don't think she was ready to recognize the paradigm shifts that started in 2013.
It takes a long time to accept the fact that a high trust society was forced to become a no trust society in less than a decade.
That was one argument for Trump.
And all decent humans have come around to the fact of massive fraud in 2020 swinging the election.
That measures against a repeat of such fraud were taken in the year or two since I made that particular case for Trump is no indictment of my advocacy.
It just makes you look like a fucking idiot for guaranteeing a Trump loss.
He won every swing state and the popular vote.
You couldn't have been more wrong, because you live in a stuck up blue bubble and have 0 insight into people's psychology.
Now enjoy your eternity in the crystal with the rest of your neverTrump deadender friends.
She undervalued the boomerang effect of eight years worth of MSM attacks and lawfare as well as clear differences in the direction of the nation from Obama to DJT to Biden. I agreed with her points but nit the weight she assigned to them. I thought Trump would win the actual election but have a late night theft steal it from him.
Also, he needs to survive being assassinated to be sworn in. He needs to avoid the upcoming lawfare that might occur between now and then. And the EC needs to confirm his victory. Team child genitals mutilation still has cards to play.
She's also an arrogant twat.
So's Cackles, along with OBL.
"I thought Trump would win the actual election but have a late night theft steal it from him."
Me too, 100% I didn't think he'd beat the cheat.
that was my fear as well… I figured in a free and fair election there was no way he could lose.
Not only that - although other candidates are certainly more palatable for a number of reasons *cough* R Desantis *cough* the reality was that his supporters were either gonna be for him or probably stay home in numbers enough to kill anyone elses chances. Given that - and the fact that Trump EARNED his victory by working and withstanding all the slings and arrows sent his way - I was more than ok with Trump against Kamala or Biden.
..... against someone like Shapiro, mind you ... thats another story.
In 2020 I stayed up until 4:30 or 5:00 AM and witnessed all the "shenanigans" that caused the result to flip. I kept expecting something like that again this election, even if Trump's lead in multiple swing states was greater than in 2020. I stayed up again last night waiting for the "batch of ballots just found or processed, almost all going for the D."
I admit my prediction of a Harris victory (60 to 70% confident) was wrong.
No regrets about pointing out Trump's obvious flaws: his age, his position as ringmaster of the #StopTheSteal clownshow, and the fact that he's definitely a creep and possibly a sexual abuser. He managed to win despite these liabilities. The environment was just that bad for Democrats, plus Harris was an even worse candidate than I imagined.
RiNgmaStEr!
Sandra, your guess was as good as anyone's. I really hope you get back to writing the truly high class parody that has made me laugh so hard I cried tears over the last several years. I think you'll have lots of chances with the change in administrations.
Her guess was nowhere near as good as anyone's. It was boilerplate Lincoln Project midwittery.
You're lucky I don't have your pathetic little Rambo fantasy link burned into my brain like I do with Kirkland's court-packing prediction.
We both know you said it though. We both know you wanted Trump to be a "kamikaze" guaranteed to lose, ultimately shattering the USA into pieces.
When people didn't break after 2 weeks and then 2 YEARS of COVID, they are never going to break. Thinking people will abandon a position of relative safety to fight for freedom contradicts the bulk of human experience. Most soldiers only do it because of training and the threat of being shot for cowardice.
“your pathetic little Rambo fantasy”
You made me spit my coffee on the keyboard.
Sandy is a wordsmith, ain’t she. I laughed too.
I refuse to pay for Reason Plus so once the grace period ends, I'm gone.
Anyway it would be weird to go back into character after stepping out. Just don't think it could work ........ and don't think my parody posts could be more ridiculous than a typical Fiona column. 😛
Well, you were proof that chicks can be funny.
Maybe create a new handle, instead of bringing back the OBL one. Just don't tell us it's you behind the new handle; let us guess and figure it out based on similarity to OBL.
I'm going to rub this Kamala pick in her face for years. Just like she does that asshole Kirkland about his court packing prediction.
Not all failed predictions are equally embarrassing.
I predicted (with 60 to 70% confidence) a Democratic victory in a Presidential election. Something that happens roughly half the time over the past generation.
Kirkland, in contrast, predicted something that has not happened in any of our lifetimes. And not only did the Biden Era Court fall short of The Rev's absurd expectations, it was actually closer to a Federalist Society dream project: aborting Roe, gutting race preferences.
Do you understand why one prediction looks much, MUCH more ludicrous than the other? Do you need me to explain it with a sports analogy like I did for mad.casual?
Honestly, this all surprised me too. I was just waiting for the ballot dump to happen, but you could tell by the reactions of the Dem media that they knew that kind of event wasn't going to be enough to save her.
In hindsight, the Dems were probably cooked after the first debate, when they could no longer hold up the charade that Biden was still lucid and at the top of his game, and had to settle for nominating a woman that had no real support outside of "vote blue no matter who" black women and Boomers/older Gen-Xers.
Do you understand why one prediction looks much, MUCH more ludicrous than the other?
Yes, I can. Case in point is the following link of Nomiki Konst showing Reason's own Robby Soave her election map prediction on The Hill's "Rising."
Robby gives his prediction first, a 270-268 Kamala victory, then at about 2:15 into the video the insanity ensues.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YgT-pc4dps4
you are signaling your TDS again. Pointing out his flaws is valid and you are otherwise a good poster of better than average analytic ability UNTIL it comes to Trump...
-Poss sexual abuser is a garbage claim
-Reasonable people could see the conduct of the previous election as compromised
enough to affect the outcome
-How could anyone see Kamala and think she was worse only AFTER the results??
Here's an example of what I mean by Harris being worse than I expected:
I always knew she was a subpar politician for the national stage. I just didn't think she'd give an answer this inept on a friendly TV show to such an obvious question. It demonstrated both lack of ability to think on her feet, and lack of coaching from her entourage.
Did it make you reevaluate your estimation of Trumps chances?
After failing to answer that obvious question on the View, she's asked the same question later that night on Colbert and gave the same answer.
Your prediction made sense. Based on the info churned out by the media (hats off to Nate Silver for pointing out the absurdity of all of these polls having identical results), it seemed to be the case. Nobody would rationally assume she'd underperform Biden in literally every single county in America (a lot of them --- but ALL?).
As far as Stop the Steal --- just looking at winning vote totals, Biden's number is WAY outside the norm. Dramatically so. At least 12M higher than anybody else's.
A lot of his flaws, as you state, are exaggerated by the leftist media. But kamala had far more flaws.
The disagreements i had with you were based on your refusal to admit elections could have fraud or be fixed by a party.
Trump started his legal campaign this cycle very early with good lawyers in every battle ground state. This is why the various state bars began publicly warning lawyers for Trump.
If you notice there were a lot of issues in the morning, quickly resolved due to these legal groups. The fraud was quickly mitigated.
See how Biden electoral numbers are way out of line with 2016 and now 2024.
How about those deadenders Nostradamus?
Koch’s full court press against Trump-Vance failed. Time to release the managing editor for her failure.
Jd Vance is wrong about Koch going after him
Adak is part of the Aleutian Islands. I didn't think islands could be tundra. I thought tundra vast areas like in Siberia.
Treeless area past the timberline with a permanently frozen subsoil
We're going to take Greenland this time
Lets annex Canada. I'm sure a decent portion of their population would be kool with it.
No! We don’t want all those Hollywood transplants back.
They don't get voting rights. They'd be like Guam.
Just don't touch Quebec unless you want to catch something.
America a week after 'invading', "Why does it hurt when I pee?"
The Cree might have other thoughts.
Je me souviens.
My balls feel like a pair of marcas
Just give Quebec back to France, spin off Toronto and the Maritimes, and let the natives, er, First Nations, go their own way.
Talking past each other in a categorization error. Tundra is a biome, Adak is a geographical feature. Des Moines is a city on the plains despite the fact that a/the city is not, itself, a "plains". A car can be painted red, that doesn't make "The car is red." mean "Any conception or essence of red is wholly embodied and encapsulated by the car."
Nerding out a bit, but Adak is an other-worldly place. Extremely remote, but once home to several thousand people living in an instant-suburban style town, built to support a major Navy facility. Now it is nearly a ghost town, and a true end-of-the-road (actually, way beyond the road) place. But you can still fly there on regular commercial air service.
Believe it or not, there’s actually Google street view of Adak from 2023. Really eerie to look at with suburban style townhouses that look mostly abandoned.
That is really cool and spooky.
BTW, maybe we found the place to send all the Resist! types who can't live in New America.
For libertarians who care about abortion access, last night's results are a decidedly mixed bag.
Every uterus has a silver lining.
I thought it was red?
Hmm, I thought it was Blue.
The main "outreach to the middle" Trump needs to do is swear off lawfare.
This is the least of our worries/hopes to expect to come to fruition.
The real "middle" isn't where they pretend it is and is furious and wants revenge.
+1
I think "outreach to the middle" should come in the form of dutifully and unceremoniously firing and/or prosecuting the fuck out of executive personnel and elected officials who objectively forsook their oaths of office and obligations to their constituents, and broke the law. Doing so in a manner that walks the line between impartial upholding of the letter of the law and cold, exacting vengeance.
Not entirely sure the man is capable of it, but it would hardly be the first thing he's done that I didn't believe him capable of doing.

Fire every woke senior officer in the military and the bureaucracy.
Impeach obviously corrupt judges
Ironically, considering who he has been compared to, that would put Trump in direct opposition to Hitler and Stalin who purged their militaries to enforce group-think.
For the politically connected that got promotions in the Red Army due to their party allegiance, that would be a case of stalin valor.
Damn! That one was truly amazing!
There are enough questionable activities by the Obama generals to at least warrant investigations.
Milley alone should be tried for treason for what he did when he approached the Chinese General.
Make
America
Gallows
Again.
I wonder if Harris making any call to see if some more votes can be found.
I wonder if Biden is pissed because he thought he could beat Trump and Harris didn't.
I was disappointed to find out my grandparents voted for kamala. I am not going to visit their grave again
Now that's funny [I don't care who you are]!
Well done sir.
+1
Are they buried in Cook County?
Best to stay away from Chicago anyway.
I was born in Chicago
Then there was probably an Illinois vote cast for Harris in your name.
bamo Osos.
ya very funny.
yup - gotta give you your props for that one
Jill Biden essentially announced to the world whom she voted for when she went to the polls in a bright red suit. Seeing the Democratic party have to pay a price for playing hardball with their own is always fun.
Did she wear a matching MAGA hat?
Or MAGA panties?
Joe already wore the MAGA hat.
"The main “outreach to the middle” Trump needs to do is swear off lawfare. Explain that he won’t prosecute his opponents—and then not actually prosecute his opponents."
I'm of two minds on this. I think Trump won in part because the dems prosecuting him on made up charges didn't play well with the electorate. But on the other hand, I have no confidence failing to charge people who have been breaking the law in our government will result in them deciding to not do so again in the future.
Honestly, as long as he doesn't prosecute Biden or Harris, he'll probably be fine with the electorate. We have a tolerance for non-elected officials being charged with crimes.
I don't know what he could even try to charge Harris with? Beside being a ham sammich. Biden made his own bed, and shat in it, but you're right, that's just water in the Depends.
Jake Sullivan, Susan Rice, Clapper, Comey, McCord and a host of others need some legal TLC from the DOJ in the form of subpoenas and warrants.
Going after her for insurrection over the material aid to terrorists burning down cities over the summer of 2020 would be in line with Democrat charges against Trump and many others these last 4 years. Wouldn't be a good idea or very strong but it would be consistent with Democrat standards for their enemies.
She is likely in violation of election funding from when she took over Bidens campaign account. She already had a campaign finance number. Now she has 2 because she appropriated Bidens. Likely in violation of the law.
She falsified evidence and confessions while a procecuters. Also keep prisoners pass their release date so she could use them for free labor.
I am pretty sure slavery is illegal in the US but I could be wrong
This is what Kamala needs to be arrested for:
https://x.com/i/status/1850998329968054737
"...and slinked off to bed."
Best and most accurate description I've ever read of her.
There's no joy in Mudville.
The Mighty Kamala sucked out again.
...He wants to drastically increase the number of Border Patrol agents, which will come at substantial cost to taxpayers.
More or less cost than IRS agents?
Just some reassignments will cut costs,
“Put down that calculator and pick up your sidearm, you work for the border patrol now”.
Prosecute those wet-backs for tax evasion!
The Biden policy was arming most of the new agents - Treasury has more guns than possibly even the border patrol.
More or less than the cost of benefits to illegals across all institutions?
Trump ran on deportation and received a massive mandate.
They're going back.
The Arizona abortion proposition was a nakedly partisan attempt to drive voter turnout, It changes virtually nothing about the current law, but was being used to drive Democratic voters to the polls.
I have become quite wary of propositions on the ballot: they remove the role of State legislatures, they're are often written in deceptive ways, they apparently make it much harder to get the ballots counted on time and are often symbolic in nature having no actual effect on the laws of the state.
this. most ballots are garbage. California had a ballot that was supposed to offset bad federal law but didn't stop the bad federal law and just made more paper work for health care without solving anything. i voted no on that law.
Same in Nevada, which already has a 24 week limitation in the law.
But in places like Colorado, propositions are the final constraint on Progressive Democratic state government. They keep pushing for higher taxes, and a majority of voters, when asked directly on the ballot, say no.
Illinois was even worse. Three non binding referenda were on the ballot, all for pet Democrat causes.
Illinois Question 1. Seeks voter opinion on penalties for election interference.
This advisory ballot measure seeks voter opinion on whether candidates who attempt to interfere with the duties of election workers should face civil penalties.
Illinois Question 2. Seeks voter opinion on raising taxes on higher incomes.
This advisory ballot measure seeks voter opinion on a potential constitutional amendment that would raise taxes on income over $1 million and use the proceeds for property tax relief.
Illinois Question 3. Seeks voter opinion on insurance of in vitro fertilization.
This advisory ballot measure seeks voter opinion on whether health insurance plans should be required to cover in vitro fertilization as part of pregnancy benefits.
Unfortunately, all passed.
The excuses are going to be what they always are: Racism, Russia, and Fraud.
Don't forget the always popular "Misogyny!"
Virtually every talking head on MSNBC this morning has complained about racism, sexism, misogyny...often claiming it to be the #1 reason Harris lost.
It’s a common refrain among the creative class who think that they have a duty to preach the Leftist sermon to their fans, as though their fans are their loyal subjects, rather than just people who happen to like some movie or song or something. Sorry Hollywood, nobody really cares about your opinions, go make good movies or fuck off.
But I do think they really, really, really believe that the only reason people would challenge their post-modern Neo-Marxist ideology is some sort of intellectual and moral deviance (as defined by them).
Jeffsarc is literally screaming racism and xenophobia in the chase thread.

The people telling us that we can't make things in America are the people who don't make things in America.
They're email workers who don't want to lose social status and purchasing power to American manufacturing.
They also don't want to lose wearing pajamas all day, and "working" on the home sofa.
The real question is how much rot can a Trump admin really drain out of the swamp? He brought up the difficulty of that when he did Rogan.
edit: by swamp I mainly mean the alphabet soup executive agencies.
Glyphosate might work. Start spraying it on everyone that works for the administrative state. Or require them to drink a dose everyday when they show up for work. It works for other weeds.
Monday-Friday Liz gives us our shot of Roundup.
But that only works on "organic" types without GMO-added resistance.
Fuck that, spray Agent Orange all over that swamp this time.
Put all Government Employees on Social Security with a 457 retirement plan. No pension. Also, make them pay 50% of insurance. The swamp will shrink itself.
Bring in the Bobs.
What is it that you say you do here?
I’m a people person, dammit!
Like Kamala?
No, Harris lost. Oh, you mean the Office Space Bobs.
Move agencies out of D.C.
Move the Dept. of the Interior to the interior, none of these need to have huge offices in D.C. (or even exist at all)"
Bureau of Indian Affairs
Bureau of Indian Education
Bureau of Land Management
Bureau of Ocean Energy Management
Bureau of Reclamation
Bureau of Safety and Environmental Enforcement
Bureau of Trust Funds Administration
National Park Service
Office of Surface Mining Reclamation and Enforcement
U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service
U.S. Geological Survey
Same for HHS, Homeland Security, etc.
There are some pretty good places to put these, IMHO:
BIA and BIE: Farmington, NM
BLM: St. George, UT
BOEM: Astoria, OR
BOR: Las Vegas, NV
BOS&EE: Sioux Falls, SD
BOTFA: Kansas City, MO
NPS: Grand Junction, CO
OSMRE: Butte, MT
USFWS: Boise, ID
USGS: St. Louis, MO
Others?
Oh my god. I think this would cause louder howls and screeching than actually eliminating the Departments entirely.
"You want me to move THERE?"
St George is a nice place.
There was a big transfer to KC in the first Trump turn. My bad for forgetting which agency.
A bunch of them quit and the rest cried about it endlessly.
Feature, not bug.
And the same thing with the BLM office in Grand Junction.
Here it is, it was the USDA and even more than I remembered, more than half of them left.
https://www.politico.com/story/2019/06/13/usda-kansas-city-area-1529072
Good call on BIA and BIE in Farmington. Besides proximity to reservations for multiple tribes, it would help support the economy of a place that lost both oil and gas production, and coal-fired electrical generation. BTW, that second industry really supported natives, got shut down ahead of the agreed schedule, and pissed off those native locals.
How much rot can a Trump admin drain, if a Trump admin can drain rot?
Why would you think he intends to seriously try at all? Aside from his late-in-term EO to make more civil service positions into political appointees, he never showed much of an interest in the civil service at all.
Which is to say... he obviously didn't care about it the first time around, why believe that he's serious this time?
And that would still be better than Commila, who would be seriously trying (well, her handlers anyway) to explode the size of government.
A Harris presidency would just be worse on all counts. Period.
‘The widening education, gender, and income polarization appears to be further bolstered by last night’s results: Trump performed really well with non-college-educated voters while Harris performed well with college-educated voters.’
All of those gaps are self-induced, from people who gave up personal identity in favor of tribal submission, and then affirmation of progressive doctrine. They believed that “smart” people are superior to the masses, that women must be Nth-wave feminists, that black and brown people are ruthlessly oppressed by the white slaver system, and that wealth now signifies moral superiority. And that the only solutions to these injustices is for a massive nanny state, run by them of course, to take charge of the nation and tell people how to live, work, and trade.
But the people said "Fuck off".
with a portion donning Handmaid’s Tale cloaks and hats to vote and march in the streets against theocracy/fascism and a portion declaring that an election was stolen due to mass voter fraud that was never really proven to be true.
Liz,
If we can get a “theocracy/fascism” on the one hand and a “that was never really proven to be true” on the other, can we at least get *either* a “voter fraud/social engineering” and drop the “proven to be true” part *or* acknowledgement that the voter fraud was far more real and or objectively true than A Handmaid’s Tale cosplay? There absolutely was social engineering going on in 2020. No amount of abortion regulation constitutes anything anywhere near ceremonial public rape as social/cultural institution. In fact, if either side is specifically pushing off fertility on younger generations as social/government mandate, it’s the people wearing the cloaks and hats.
The current slant makes it seem like one cosplay was imaginary but justified and the other was imaginary and unjustified rather than giving a more equal and opposite credibility to the reality of the issue and the justification of the concern (which is, itself, generous).
Can't wait to see Reason's/Liz's explanation for the loss of 15 million dem voters from the surge of 15 million dem voters added in 2020.
To go vote was a good excuse to get out of the house.
What about the jews, nardz?
Don't hold your breath. Why would they bother explaining what they can just ignore?
It is certainly a site to see the attempt to bowf-sidez a situation where one party literally had mobile sterilization vans outside their convention.
'For libertarians who care about abortion access, last night's results are a decidedly mixed bag.'
What do you mean by "care", Liz?
Democrats lie, babies die.
That's what she means.
'Harris still won in New York City, but not by the margins Democrats typically win by. In literally all five boroughs, Trump did better than expected.'
Let the purges begin!
For libertarians who care about abortion access, last night's results are a decidedly mixed bag.
Not as mixed as you might think. South Dakota is now the only state that has rejected abortion rights via majority vote. In every other place where abortion has been on the ballot, voters voted in favor of it by majority vote. It didn't pass in Florida only because it didn't reach the 60% threshold, but it still earned majority support.
I think the more interesting question is, why does abortion pass (almost) everywhere that it is on the ballot, even in deep red states like Kansas and Ohio and Nebraska? If abortion really did garner majority support, why weren't the state legislatures already on the same page with the voters and protecting abortion rights without the need of going through the referendum/constitutional amendment route?
Wasn't the overturning of Roe supposed to tank republican chances?
Because state pols are only slightly less out of touch with their constituents?
I think what all of this shows is that the vast majority of people think there’s a cutoff point where it’s no longer acceptable, but before that line they’re willing to accept it.
I agree with you. My question is, though, why don't the state legislatures in question also recognize this very obvious fact?
Focusing on Republicans because they control so many of the state legislatures, and well, Texas: A lot of people will vote the Republican over the Democrat because even with stupid shit like the porn id laws and the "over" restriction of abortion, the Democrat platform is even worse on more fronts (taxes, gun control, occupational licensing, emergency powers, etc.).
This of course makes the Republicans think that people actually like their policies when it's really just trying to hold back the flood.
I hope for Kamala's sake Doug Emhoff isn't too upset with her for not winning.
Kamala doesn't deserve to beaten by two different men in one night.
Dr. Jill: Calm down get ahold of yourself! [smack]
Doug Emhoff: Stewardess, please, let me handle this! [Incoherent grumbling] [smack]
DJT: Calm down! Now get back to your seat. I’ll take care of this!…
So, where was the rioting? I was told there would be left-wing rioting if Trump won.
Where was the election 'fortification'? I was told that Trump had no chance of winning 'fairly' because those crooked and biased poll workers would do '3am ballot dumps' to put Team Blue over the top.
Where was it?
Glad to see you're taking the loss in stride. Want to call everyone racist some more? Get it out of your system?
I only call the racists racist.
So I'm glad that you all are finally admitting that all the talk about "massive fraud" and "fortification" was just made-up garbage.
The important question is “what do people have to believe to be a racist”. Jeffey has confirmed his definition is “anyone who disagrees with me”.
Coincidentally, this is the same definition Dems and other leftists use.
Jeffey has confirmed his definition is “anyone who disagrees with me”.
Marshal has confirmed that he is lying.
Jeremy Kauffmann, LPNH: Hey, that South African apartheid wasn't so bad after all.
Normal people (including me): Hmm that sounds kinda racist.
Marshal: YOU'RE JUST CALLING HIM RACIST BECAUSE HE DISAGREES WITH YOU
Are you aware of what’s going on in SA?
Marshal has also confirmed that he uses the typical deflection technique to derail the conversation. Note that the original discussion was about the bogus nature of Team Red’s perpetual ‘election fraud’ claims. And yet here we are, talking about racism instead. He does this because he knows his team was lying all along and he doesn't want to admit it.
Speak for yourself. You deflect, dodge, and avoid answering direct questions all the time, Jeff. All. The. Time.
In fact it's what Lying Jeffy is famous for. I hope he get's canned when Media Matters loses its lawsuit.
He does all of those slowly and poorly because he's a lazy, fat fuck.
It's revealing Jeffey calls my response to his own comment about racism illegitimate. Weird.
But he's also lying about my other comments which had nothing to do with the specific person he claims. That's his problem, always lying about what others say. Note that if his position could be supported by what I actually say he wouldn't have to lie about that. It's an implicit admission he knows he's wrong.
Interestingly Jeffey is always the first person to whine about others misstating his own beliefs, which is just another example that he literally never applies the same standards to himself and his allies that he applies to those he hates. This is what I call Left-Wing Privilege: the premise that they alone deserve honest and fair treatment even though they never extend this expectation to anyone else. In their self-righteousness they believe they inherently deserve it. Further this is reinforced by the left's complete control of our institutions which similarly enforce double standards.
One of the many ways to recognize what he is.
I don’t call him Lying Jeffy for nothing.
Well Lying Jeffy is a leftist so…
“So I’m glad that you all are finally admitting that all the talk about “massive fraud” and “fortification” was just made-up garbage.”
I admitted nothing of the sort and how you were able to draw that conclusion from my post is fascinating, in a medical/psychology sort of way.
Also, they literally bragged about fortification - https://time.com/5936036/secret-2020-election-campaign/
“in a medical/psychology sort of way.”
When I say Lying Jeffy is a psychopath, I’m not being hyperbolic.
Rioting, or widespread rioting?
Mostly peaceful rioting, with arson and murders.
So, anti-racism?
considering the left rioted at Trumps first inaguration and said they would riot if Biden lost in 2020, DC boarded up before that election, and the left riots at the drop of a hat so be patient I'm sure they are just waiting for their Soros paid for placards and buss to get to where they will riot. The weekend is just days away
Nobody starts a riot in the morning.
the flames lose all effectiveness derp.
I am now living outside DC and can confirm that they were indeed boarding up businesses in DC itself yesterday. It is also correct that it takes them a bit of time to really get going. By this weekend, when they still have not won the popular vote, they will be in a frenzy.
Day ain’t over yet, Jeffy.
This. Plus Soros wasn't prepared for them to beat the cheat, and it's going to take a while for them to get their riot infrastructure from 2020 back in place.
You can see 3 months into the future? The Left will riot in protest of the election, sometime between now and the inauguration. Separately, the Left will riot multiple times during Trump’s second tenure. No doubt.
I can provide a guest room for anybody on the forum that wants to venture down to the National Mall on 1/6/2025. I will buy lots of popcorn. It will be fun to watch.
This is just silly.
You posted this at 9am. Liz literally says in the post that it wasn’t called until 530am eastern time. Even left wing goons sleep man.
The professional antiFas would never be seen before nightfall...
Messy BBQ Sauce performed a thermal, chemical alteration that resulted in a conversion of amino acids in presence of sugars to a Maillard reaction of transmogrified tastes.
In other words, Someone's suspicions have since been cleaned up. There never was a prosecuted offense. The crime was your imagination, and you took the bait and voted for it, once again
If Lying Jeffy ignores the rioting, he can pretend there is no rioting.
Breaking: Seattle Police shut down the Antifa election night riot in the area near the former CHAZ autonomous zone occupation.

'Republican control of the Senate…likely dashes progressives' hopes of dramatically shifting the burden of US taxation toward corporations and wealthy individuals'
Yeah, cuz we know that the current unfair tax scheme lets all the richy-rich types avoid taxes.
... but 50% isn't a fair share.
we know terrible policies like student-loan forgiveness and setting price controls and taxing unrealized capital gains are now totally off the table.
Amen sister, sing it loud.
It's much easier to make things worse than it is to make things better. That's why "First, do no harm" is such an important axiom.
Do we get to watch the Republicans fuck up every opportunity again?
Probably. But who knows, maybe they'll do at least a few things they promised to do. The Ron Paul/Elon Musk tagteam at dismantling at least a chunk of leviathan would be the greatest advancement of liberty we've seen in a decade. I'm skeptical, but a 1% chance is greater than the 0% chance had Trump lost.
I thought Mitch McConnell was stepping down.
He did, but he really wouldn't have a choice now. The GOP is looking at a 55-seat majority at the moment, and he'd be couped out because he tried to submarine GOP races through funding choke-offs that might have made the difference in otherwise close races.
Hs handmaidens Thune and Cornyn are going to have an uphill battle convincing the other Senators to support them as Majority Leader, considering the electioneering shit McConnell's pulled since the Tea Party insurgency.
Cornyn is second chair in Texas now.
I fucking hate that guy, but at least he’s not Beto.
he's like if 43 was a senator who wouldn't go home.
You all are going to miss him when he's gone. Say what you want about Cocaine Mitch but he excelled at getting judicial nominees through (or stopped). And those appointments by Trump are arguable his greatest accomplishment in office.
There's going to be quite a bit of disappointment, and that's (mostly) a good thing.
Immigration: The guys like Nardz who really, really want about 10-15M people gone after a door-to-door hunt are going to be badly frustrated, and that's a good thing. The more realistic scenario is no more asylum, a modest ramp-up in the Border Patrol, and immigrants who get caught by the criminal justice system will be deported more efficiently. It'll be a small fraction of what Vance promised.
Israel vs. Palestinians: I don't know who will be disappointed, but Trump convinced people like Commenter_XY that they'll get what they want, and Arab voters in Dearborn that they'll get what they want. At least one of those groups is going to be betrayed, maybe both.
Fiscal Sanity: There are people who've convinced themselves that Trump will do some kind of magic where the debt goes down, the deficits go down, and taxes go down. He might - might - accomplish the last one if you're naive enough to think a tariff isn't a tax. He'll make the debt and deficit worse. The right-wing cope for that will be that his new record highs for debt are hypothetically worse than the record Harris would've set.
Social Conservatives: They're not going to get a national anything on abortion. What they gained up to now is going to be their high tide. Trump might let Republicans blunt the some of really outlier transgender demands, and might decline to interfere when a red state goes further. But at heart he's an urban cosmopolitan who is very comfortable with Hollywood culture. Again, the cope will be that Harris would've been worse for them, which in this case is true.
Immigration: Add in auditing welfare recipients to prevent illegal aliens from accessing programs they are not eligible for, and an observable crackdown on employers hiring of illegal aliens and self-deportations should increase.
Trump can start with an EO ordering that all executive agencies and anyone doing business with the federal government submit to personnel audits for illegal aliens.
It is already a requirement that federal contractors must use E-Verify for their employees. This has been the case ever since 2009. What do you suggest that the government do above and beyond this?
Whatever new measure they come up with, it'll mainly be about you and me showing more ID more often at more locations.
Actually enforce it via audits, which is what I felt like I said when I wrote "...submit to personnel audits for illegal aliens."
So the audit system is put in place.
Senator Cornyn, 2025: “How can anyone support sexual predators working on federal contracts! It’s shocking!”
So they add a criminal record check to the screening.
Senator Cotton, 2025: “How can anyone support Hamas terrorists benefitting from federal contracts!”
So they add the entire No Fly list to the screening. Maybe couple it with a screen of social media posts.
Senator Warren, 2029, after stuff flips again: “How can anyone support wife beating males and people with guns working on a federal contract”
You get where they would take this.
Maybe. I don’t think Elon Musk really wants someone like Steve Bannon in charge of poring over his personnel records with a red pen. There are many reasons to not want that, even if the records are perfectly clean with respect to immigration rules.
As usual, I had Chat GPT write White Mike's rebuttal:
"Ah, nothing quite like smugly celebrating 'disappointment' as a policy goal. It’s impressive how you've managed to roll every policy complexity into a single cocktail of bitterness and broken promises. You say it's all for the greater good, but I can't help noticing your argument boils down to 'as long as no one gets what they want, it must be working.'
Let’s break it down: You’re thrilled immigration will be a bureaucratic nightmare, but somehow think it’s a 'win' for justice. Fiscal sanity? You laugh off the debt like it’s Monopoly money – maybe to fit the narrative that fiscal irresponsibility is suddenly virtuous when your team does it. Social conservatism? Dismissed as unworthy of serious discussion, since ‘coping’ with disappointment is clearly the highest form of governance now.
So keep waving that 'everyone's unhappy, so I'm right' flag, but don't be surprised if nobody’s impressed by a masterclass in lowering expectations."
I don’t think some of his analysis is necessarily wrong here.
Immigration: Ramping up border enforcement, going after employers, sure, but I seriously doubt they start going around rounding up people, which would end up being a PR nightmare.
Israel: Considering the work they put in for the Abraham Accords, I could see him trying to find a diplomatic solution, but if that won’t work, telling them to do whatever they want with no clucking from us.
Fiscal: this will greatly depend on how willing the House is to do what their constituents have been calling for since 2012. I’m not optimistic they have the stones to cut any spending. If the Dems end up taking it, that’s a 100% guarantee.
Socons: the transgender stuff cuts across social lines so I don’t consider that a “socon” stance. Abortion isn’t getting banned nationally and if they try, 2026 will be a bloodbath for Republicans. If they’re smart they leave that shit alone.
ML(g), the people laughing at the debt are the people who supported Trump or Harris. (I'll give a pass to people who voted "for" one of them only because they wanted to thwart the other one.)
I've been open that I'm not an immigration restrictionist. Multiply Fiona Harrigan by Ilya Somin and add Shika Dalmia on top and that's me. If some bureaucrats undermine Trump in favor of liberty then that's great. Of course, the undermining would need to be within some plausible interpretation of the law, with plausible being defined by me.
ChatGPT unedited again:
"So, you’re a self-appointed judge of what counts as 'plausible liberty' as long as it’s served with a side of bureaucratic sabotage? Bold strategy—selective liberty and personal interpretation of laws, all dressed up as moral high ground. And it’s amusing how you criticize Trump and Harris supporters for laughing at the debt while you wink at bureaucrats undermining elected officials.
But hey, nice try flexing your ideological menu; you’re basically admitting your stance is like a ‘Liberty à la Carte’—served only when it fits your taste, and strictly on your terms. Just hope nobody takes that recipe seriously in an actual democracy."
If POTUS Trump gives Israel the weapons they need to end the war quickly, on Israel's terms, then Commenter_XY is happy. Israel can do their own heavy lifting (and have done quite well).
POTUS Biden gave Israel more than enough weapons to end the war quickly. For that matter, they already had enough weapons to end the war quickly, and have had for decades. The few crates of 2000 pound bombs out of a vast flow of munitions, and the sternly worded nothings from Blinken, were purely and only a (failed) ploy to keep Michigan Arabs and progressives from doing what they did anyway. I believe Blinken and Biden were privately apologizing to Netanyahu after every pretend rebuke.
The reason Israel can’t end any of it quickly is because they want to keep their membership in the Western Democracy Club.
I believe Blinken and Biden were privately apologizing to Netanyahu after every pretend rebuke.
Have you forgotten how Harris **studied the maps** and advised them against going into Rafah? She studied the maps man!
Mark the day, for once we agree.
Harris and Biden have been completely phonies on this from day one. They want to be seen as pro-Israel-government and pro-Palestinian-civilians and those things are not compatible with the current people in charge of Israel, Gaza, and the West Bank. And anyone even slightly familiar with the situation knows that, regardless of which side they pick. So they didn’t fool *anyone* and managed to alienate *everyone* who has an opinion on the issue.
PS Not saying Harris *likes* Netanyahu. Nobody likes him. Just that she wanted very badly to not pay the price for appearing to abandon Israel. Harris and Biden (stupidly) thought they could finesse it.
May we never agree again.
""POTUS Biden gave Israel more than enough weapons to end the war quickly. ""
You would need to supply offensive weapons to do that.
Biden has repeated said it would be defensive weapons only. Did Biden's admin lie about that?
They apologized to Netanyahu behind the scenes after that. Or something.
Not even behind the scenes, really. They’d say their support for Israel was rock solid over and over again. Netanyahu never had the tiniest fear that anything he really needed would not be sent.
Not that he really needed anything anyway. The pro-Israel guys on this thread say Israel could do it alone if only the US would get out of the way. They’re right about Israel’s capability. They’re wrong about the US being in the way, much the opposite.
We send weapons to keep our own defense contractors up and running, and to please certain US constituencies - evangelicals and Republicans who've made Israel into some kind of loyalty test.
Yes, of course they lied.
Don’t let Jesse/Nardz and the Canadian fool you. The people here who say they voted for Oliver actually did, and for the reasons they state plainly.
He’s gay?
tHe cAnAdiAN!!!!!!!
Some of them, I'm sure, are very fine people.

Social Conservatives: They’re not going to get a national anything on abortion. What they gained up to now is going to be their high tide.
I am not so sure. Republicans see that abortion wins just about everywhere that it is on the ballot. They are going to try to stop this at the federal level. Trump has said that he won't sign a nationwide abortion ban, but I don't believe him for a second.
My theory is very different. He already tested out saying he’s all about the exceptions. He tested out saying that 6 weeks is too harsh. He tested out saying that he wasn’t against abortion, he just (eye roll) was deeply, deeply committed to federalism, like all Americans. He flipped and flopped on the Florida ballot measure.
The result was a massive victory. He now understands that there is zero political price to be paid on this issue. Remember that he’ll throw anyone under the bus, and that in his personal life he’s a penthouse libertine.
But he has no fixed principles on the matter. Trump couldn't give a shit at all about whether abortion is legal or illegal or at what month or what the exceptions should be. His position on any issue changes with the winds. So if Congressional Republicans send him a federal abortion ban - which naturally is going to be wrapped up into some type of Cromnibus Porkulent Spending bill - do you think he is really going to veto it? I don't. I think he will sign it, and not give a shit about the consequences because he'll be done with the job in a few years anyway.
Your scenario is certainly possible.
However, I think it depends on who writes it and when it gets to him. He turns against Republicans if they cross him and by midterm he'll have a whole bunch of them on his blacklist. So, for example, if the author is Cornyn he might just decide to let it die.
Anyway, it's looking like such a bill will never get out of the House.
Haha. Funny you are talking about cope when your entire post is just that, ducky.

If you ever doubt whether the ruling class in DC has lost touch with America, refer back to this graphic.
“failing to figure out which anti-Vance,”
They should have read more of your coworkers writings.
Polls were really just propaganda, some so far out of touch with reality there's no other way to spin it...
"Renowned Pollster J. Ann Selzer said Tuesday she would be reviewing her data to determine why a Des Moines Register/Mediacom Iowa Poll released just days before the election produced results so far out of line with former President Donald Trump's resounding victory.
Trump handily won Iowa for a third time, defeating Vice President Kamala Harris by 14 percentage points with more than 90% of the vote counted ― a sharp contrast to Saturday's Iowa Poll that had Harris leading by 3 points.
"Reviewing her data"? Didn't she flat-out admit that the poll consisted largely of women (actual women, not stinkditch LARPers) respondents?
Nah, they were all trans-men who identified as women...
This election was satisfying for so many reasons. The open rebuke of the democrat party. The open rebuke of wokeism. The MSM propaganda fully failing. Its all such a fucking breath of fresh air after years of being told that the piss falling on my head was sweet rain water, to punch the fucker that was saying that in his fat stupid face.
But a nice cherry on top was the pollsters, after even trying to correct their known bias and bullshittery, still missed big, again, underestimating Trump. And this lady was "the best." The last minute gamble to call fucking Iowa for Harris. Holy shit watching "THE pollster" who is touted as the end all be all pollster, and that Allan Lichtman's smug fucking retarded face...and them just swinging as hard as they could, missing, and accidentally somehow hitting themselves directly in their man/ladydicks...just fucking chefs kiss stuff here.
Next election the primary go to will be polymarket and election betting odds, which were 1000% more accurate than the crazy over funded and under accurate pollster industry.

“The race was officially called around 5:30 a.m. when Wisconsin’s results finally came in.”
“Officially” called by who?
It was called earlier by some media outlets. Later by others.
I really found it amusing how the position of some dumbass untrustworthy media organizations is “only we can say when someone has won! How dare anyone else say it!”
CNN last night
"We're not calling it for Trump yet...has any serious news organization called it for Trump yet?"
"Fox News did."
"Oh Fox News did, okay...so no one has called it yet"
Massive sour grapes. It was very obvious how things were trending by that point. CNN's own reporters were saying "There's around ~100,000 outstanding votes in Georgia" while Trump had a 118,000 vote lead, and CNN wasn't calling that race. Even the CNN anchors were like, "Well if that math is accurate, Georgia is over." And they took like 2 more hours to call Georgia.
CNN refused to call Maine district 2, and everyone is being hesitant to call Alaska even though it's pretty obvious how that will end. But it was obvious that the votes in Philadelphia weren't enough and weren't overwhelmingly pro-Harris that at some point Pennsylvania was gone, and once she lost Pennsylvania she was done. She didn't have a route to win the presidency without Pennsylvania.
The looks on their faces is just comedy gold.
"I'm burning it down, Peanut. I'm burning it ALL down, for you."
Ignore the pro-squirrel vote at your own peril.
I'm just upset how overlooked that poor raccoon is in all of this. I won't tolerate this level of racism.
Whatever. At this point, Harambe is probably just another dead gorilla to you people.
will nobody speak for Fred?!?!?!
Fred.
The raccoon's name was Fred.
But he had blackface, so ignored.
As the election shows, no one cares about discrimination against coons.
Kamala doomed herself the moment she accepted Dick Cheney’s endorsement. Seriously. She may as well have said she wasn’t a Democrat but a deep statist at that point. And she couldn’t change the fact that she comes across as an emotionless retard.
Not sure it took that; the woman was doomed from her first cackle.
With luck, we shall never hear of her again.
With luck, after 4 years (assuming he survives that long), we'll never hear from Donald Trump again.
Any future republican candidate will be described by the media as Trump/Trumpish/Trimp-esque for the rest of our lives. His ghost will haunt them forever.
50 years from now, blue-haired she-males will speak in hushed whispers of Donald “the second coming of Hitler” Trump who genocided women and LGBTBBQ people. While normal women continue to exist in relative harmony as ever before.
I don't think it was the tipping point, but it certainly didn't help. Anti-establishment lefties like Ana Kasparian said she didn't support Harris was because she absolutely despises neocons like the Cheneys, and found it unconscionable that the Democrats were celebrating their endorsement. Ana was already red-pilled due to crime rates and her own experience with that, but it definitely made her decision easier.
No what doomed Kamala was Joe Biden. Voters thought they were getting Scranton Joe, who dug coal and fought Pinkertons at the local pool, but what they got was DC Joe who staft his office with progressives who didn't know what a woman was and thought burning a few more trillions was going to reduce inflation.
Not that she help herself any. She was horrible.
She was doomed as she convinced people she wasn't "generic Democrat" whatever that meant to them. Once the polls started slipping from her silence on all fronts and she had to take positions and talk to the media it was all downhill.
'Republican control of the Senate…likely dashes progressives' hopes of dramatically shifting the burden of US taxation toward the people who work for a living as trillions of dollars worth of provisions in the 2017 tax law expire at the end of next year," reports Bloomberg.'

If Chase or the LP was smart, they would start marketing T-Shirts that said "Don't blame me, I voted for Chase".
Great idea guy. You should start on online store; you could sell bumper stickers to sarc as well.
T-shirts? How about undies with your message printed on the rear?
He could sell cock rings with that printed around them.
Hopefully sales don't underperform.
There were SO many chase voters, he's literally sitting on a goldmine!
Too bad he was gay. Totally torpedoed his chances.
CHASE WAS GAY????

Far left politicians are not your enemy. They are the representatives of your enemy.
Your actual enemy is the people who elect them. Until people on the right understand this, the left will continue to advance.
The reprieve we’re celebrating is just a minor setback to them.
I've understood that Jeffy and White Mike were the enemy since forever.
Plus: A red wave, a mixed night for abortion, and more...
By 'mixed' you mean "had no meaningful impact" on the erection?
not by that point, no ...
with single women going aggressively for Harris.
C'mon, Liz, how hard was it to type, "childless cat ladies"?
I find most of those childless ladies have small dogs they treat like infants instead.
Like avatars of infants.
Crab-eating raccoons that are nocturnal and require special feeding or chinchillas that are highly energetic and social would be more 'treat like infants'. They choose small dogs for the convenience of being able to put them down and ignore them and only pick them up when they (the ladies) want attention.
Meanwhile, I've been watching MSNBC's meltdown coverage since about 4 a.m. and I am not convinced that they're on the way toward atoning for their identity-politics sins of the last eight years.
Was watching live coverage from my trusted sources and the consensus was that they will have to lose bigly several more times before they'll ever acknowledge their failings-- and even then (now this is my opinion) the people responsible for the failures will never admit their failures, they'll just be quietly pushed out and replaced with people who recognize the failures.
Look no further than Chicago. They keep voting for the same idiots time and time again that have the same policies: moar socialism will fix everything! But, every time it fails miserably.
That said, this is the first election that I’ve seen a number of voters back away from that ledge.
I saw an exit-poll stat last night that gave Trump 5% of former Biden voters.
They're blaming Hispanics and black men. The victim hierarchy has been turned on its head.
Watch for them to double down on that for 2026 and 2028.
Just going back to their roots.
Hispanics are mostly Catholics who are pro-life and pro-traditional values. That's a bit of a problem for the modern Democrat Party.
The leftists are wondering why Latinos would vote for Trump, and face potential deportation.
The Latinos who voted for Trump are citizens, you racist assholes.
(also hopefully at least most of the Latinos who voted for Harris . . . )
"Hello, exactly!" -Dirk Diggler
Get ready for Democrats to turn on Hispanics and immigration...
If by ‘turn on immigration’ you mean claim to be against it and pretending they were never for it, that’s been happening for over two years now.
edit: That transmogrificating started happening when 50 migrants showed up in Barack Obama's neighborhood looking for work.
Fair. It'll just get louder and more widespread now.
Observations from the election:
1) I’m honestly surprised they didn’t try to pull off a 3 am ballot dump to put Harris over the top. As one commenter noted upthread, the one-time spike in 2020 looks even more suspicious now, as the results went back to the norm once the pre-COVID guardrails were restored.
2) Muslims absolutely shanked Harris in this election, having gone mostly for either Trump or Stein. They may not actually like Trump or his policies towards Israel, but they’re taking the long view here and sending a message to the Dems that they need to start rebuking Israel, or lose them as voters. Expect the Dems to go hard left on Israel moving forward, forcing American Jews to make a choice to either go along with it and tell their brethren in Israel to get fucked, or find another party to support.
3) Black women continue to be the most kept political demographic in American history, but black men will continue waffling as long as the Dems continue to be the Girlboss Party.
4) Hispanics have formally arrived as a potent voting bloc, having overtaken blacks as the largest voting minority. The split here will continue to be open borders versus limited but legal immigration, and tolerance of violent immigrant gangs versus their prosecution and deportation or imprisonment. As a reminder, the strictest immigration law in the nation’s history was passed during the administration of the last real “small government conservative” President, who took the stance, like TR, that America needs to put citizens ahead of foreigners after decades of mostly unrestricted immigration.
5) There better fucking be a real hard look at our relationship with the EU and especially the UK, after the bullshit Labour and Keir Starmer pulled with their blatant election interference and the EU’s clampdown on dissent from those objecting to the left-liberal oligarchy there. Those fucks in Labour didn’t even bother to try and hide it, and the Trump administration needs to start considering how much classified material actually needs to be shared with these perfidious marxists.
6) The “National Popular Vote Compact” is a dead letter now. It always was a pose, since it was only ever meant to apply to Democrats, but these states aren’t going to give Trump a 538-delegate wipeout.
Also, the neocons are completely finished as an influential political force. The GOP hates their guts, while the Dem voters were always uneasy about embracing them as political allies, but tolerated them if they could deliver wins. They never actually accepted them, though, and last night provides a convenient excuse to jettison them entirely.
Having these people endorse you will be seen as the kiss of death for the next 10-20 years. They're completely radioactive as a constituency and have no political home as of this morning.
Also, the neocons are completely finished as an influential political force.
Gonna have to agree to disagree here. The neocons are the deep state, and that doesn’t just go away, no matter how hard Trump wins.
Edit: I agree with you that they've been rebuked by the public... but as a force, they're not going anywhere. They survive, they fight dirty, and they don't depend on elections.
I agree with you. When every district has a piece of the war machine, their is an economic incentive to keep funding it and when you keep funding it, you tend to want to use it.
But it also depends on what the def of neocon is. If it is invading and nation building to remake a country into a democracy - that's been dead since Obama/Libya and will remain that way for awhile. If it is giving military aid to other countries even with little American interests at stake, well Bibi was the first to congrat Trump. I suspect those in Congress will package any aid Trump wants to send to Israel with a Ukraine package and not much will change in America, st least in first year, maybe 2nd of Trumps 2nd term.
"and they don’t depend on elections."
This is why Blackrock and Davos need to be the next targets.
The neocons will just add weight to the Democrat donor side of their donor/base split., not be jettisoned. Hopefully the magnitude of that disconnect tears the Democrats on half.
1) I’m honestly surprised they didn’t try to pull off a 3 am ballot dump to put Harris over the top. As one commenter noted upthread, the one-time spike in 2020 looks even more suspicious now, as the results went back to the norm once the pre-COVID guardrails were restored.
Yeah, the mysterious 80 million votes tally is going to be a chin-scratcher for decades to come.
Not that mysterious. Lock people in nursing homes, harvest their ballots, go to vote by mail everywhere but stop checking the signatures, someone might figure out a way to cheat.
My definition of 'mysterious' is 'figuring out how to explain them without admitting fraud.'
On Item 1, the better explanation is that there is now a semi-permanent 10% that are pissed in general and will reflexively vote against the incumbent party.
On Items 2 and 3 you are basically correct.
On Item 4 the real explanation is that Hispanics are just voters now, there is no longer such thing as "the" Latino vote. They aren't a "potent voting bloc" because they aren't a bloc at all. They break down about like white voters and that's what happened in Starr County. There'll still be an AOC just like there's still an Elizabeth Warren.
Item 6: The NPVC isn't a dead letter "now", it was born dead. You're right on the motivations, but there was never the slightest possibility that the targets of it would approve it.
Mike lives in a world of bald assertions as he dismisses evidence others provide to back their assertions. Always amusing.
So you're categorizing Chief Elizabeth Warren as a pale-face?
Again, you think you're a brilliant detective who can uncover hidden Democrats. You're not.
JesseAz/Nardz is different. He knows I'm not a Democrat and is just trying to get under my skin.
Right. They know you're also a fascist too.
Opinions from TDS-addled shits can be safely ignored.
For item 2, I don't think the pro-Hamas Democrat voting bloc was ever as potent as they thought they were. It's mostly just young people making noise, and young people don't vote. A lot of reliable Democrat voters are pro-Israel, especially pro-Israel defending itself against terrorism.
If Harris had picked Shapiro over Walz, the election could have been much closer. But staying away from Shapiro didn't even win Michigan for Harris.
It's part and parcel of the Democratic Party's biggest problem in that they don't actually believe in anything other than the acquisition of power for its own sake. It doesn't actually have a position on the Israel/Palestine/Lebanon/Jordan/Iran/Saudi Arabia/Yemen conflict. They'll say one thing for their donors, a different thing for their voters, and just continue to call the Republicans racists who hate everyone on all the sides of the conflict.
Because what they want is more power, and whatever needs to happen in the Middle East to get it for them is what they support.
Shapiro wouldn't have made a damn bit of difference. A lawyer from Philadelphia is not how a D ticket can appeal to working class men in the Rust Belt. His PA election shows that he wouldn't have delivered even one county in PA. The 'last day' appearance of the two candidates - Trump in Pittsburgh (actual Rust Belt), Harris in Philadelphia - is just a nail in the coffin to show how deluded the D's are.
Walz could have appealed to working class men in the Rust Belt. But either he is, or was positioned as, every dad a daughter wishes they had instead of the one they do have. Which is not at all like just being a guy's guy.
It's the poison the D's have been drinking for decades since they flipped to believing that unions are just about bureaucrats/govt employees and everything else is identity politics where white male is the oppressor even if they are homeless, working class, or slowly committing suicide in middle age.
Shapiro, whose advocacy was entirely generated from the media bubble, would have been simply D's doubling down on their identity politics stupidity.
So...Dems still want to end the filibuster?

We're still good to add four new seats to the Supreme Court in 2025, though, right?

There was a saying "conservatives are liberals who were mugged by reality." In Ana's case she was quite literally mugged by the reality of mentally ill homeless people.
That screen cap didn't do her justice. She was looking tasty last night.
Those stooges still exist? Yuck.
Luck me. I don’t know who they are, but it’s still funny.
The guy on the left is the head honcho lefty, the woman on the right is his biggest star. But after being sexually assaulted by a homeless person, she has spent the last year or so gradually going the Tulsi Gabbard route and started yelling at her fellow progressives for losing their goddamned minds. Hence the smile. And also why Michael Malice wanted Trump to thank her in his speech.
Malice of course had the best line of the campaign:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1g3yK8111go
Malice is a national treasure. He should be Trump’s next press secretary, so Trump doesn’t have to be the biggest smart ass in the admin and can focus on the job.
Having just watched that clip, I agree.
I might be feeling a sense of schadenfreude here, but the press needs a hilarious, sarcastic asshole to pillory them at every turn. It desperately needs one, in fact.
Do you want the news staff at the Times and Post and NBC (and others) to walk out in protest every day?
Yeah, that'd be a good start.
Is this a trick question?
Malice would last maybe five days as Press Secretary but they would be the greatest five days in the history of Press Secretaries. Joy Reid and Jim Acosta would suffer fatal brain explosions by day three.
Kari Lake is going to need a job and has media experience.

Good morning. Donald Trump is the president-elect. The race was officially called around 5:30 a.m. when Wisconsin's results finally came in.
It might be worth pointing out that the Associated Press does not "officially call" the election, despite that being asserted on Twitter 4 years ago.
AP couldn’t call it because citizenfreepress broke their servers lol
Right. No news organization does it "officially." They just report the news, they don't make it.
In one sense, it was official when the polls closed, and in another, it's still not official because ballots are still being tallied. The talking point about Trump making his victory speech prematurely is just an establishment temper tantrum about how they didn't give him permission yet.
HamasP should just stay in the tunnels.
Did Goodbella Liz cast her vote for Trump?
Less than two years ago, when many media outlets were joking about the GOP's struggles to elect a speaker, they thought it was a sign of GOP weakness. It was actually a good thing because it demonstrated a responsiveness to the dramatic realignment happening within the party.
The DNP has not been as responsive to the ongoing political realignment happening in the country, and Trump likely won the national popular vote. I wonder if we'll see any realizations and epiphanies coming from the Democratic side in the next few months.
""I wonder if we’ll see any realizations and epiphanies ""
It's going to be hard for them since they invested so heavily in the fear card.
"I wonder if we’ll see any realizations and epiphanies coming from the Democratic side in the next few months."
Why would they do that?
If you look at American history, the Presidency swapping back and forth between parties is pretty normal. Hell, when was the last time a non-incumbent candidate from the party currently in power won the presidency? (spoiler: 1988)
And you can do that trick I just did --find a reason why this wasn't indicative of a major problem-- till the cows come home.
And this isn't particular to Democrats: Republicans didn't have any "come to Jesus" moment after 2020, 2012, or 2008. Now to be fair, after 2012 they did have an "autopsy", in which they did a lot of analysis on why they lost, but then they all ignored it and won with Trump in 2016 anyway.
Which is to say... losing one, even two elections in a row, isn't really enough to force a party to dramatically realign. They might pivot a little, but nothing dramatic. No, for a dramatic realignment you're looking for three consecutive loses.
I find it hard to say the GOP hasn't undergone a transformation since 2020. The Cheneys and McCains are gone, the neocons endorsed a democrat. Trump visit the LP convention, he got an endorsement from RFK. There was that extended, extended internal fight in Congress in 2022 when they couldn't elect a speaker.
Realignment happens at the grassroots level, not the party level. Voters are realigning and it's up to the party to realize it. The most obvious signs were the Virginia governor's race, and the battle to elect a speaker early last year. The Democratic party seemingly hadn't realized they needed to reorient to match the voter realignment and they were stung. But their demographics are changing whether they like it or not-the increased divide between college graduates versus non-collegiates, and their slipping grip on minority votes. It's entirely possible they'll perform better in the future without changing course just because the grassroots level will shift (or the Trump coalition will just shatter), but that doesn't mean the party hasn't undergone realignment.
I disagree.
The party elite certainly didn't learn any lessons from 2008 or 2012 as they insisted on pushing Mitt Romney, then Jeb Bush, and then Nikki Haley as the standard bearers (no party in my lifetime has decided to not push their incumbent president as the nominee until Joe gave them no choice).
The base on the other hand, learned a great deal: stop nominating neocon pussies who get the sniffles when the media call them names. Trump fulfilled that need to say "fuck you" to the establishment of both parties. Now, how will that carry over to 2028 is anyone's guess.
Jesus Christ, this is nuclear grade copium.
"Dramatic realignments" don't require "three consecutive losses." What's required is a collection of trends and high-drama events. The current realignment began in 2006 with the blue tsunami after the neocons had their credibility shattered with the Iraq invasion, followed by the TARP bailout when BOTH parties' voter bases wanted heads on pikes. The Dems held on to their coalition thanks to Obama, but the GOP's was already beginning to fall apart by that time, as their voters became more populist and less inclined to support "go along to get along" Bush-era politics. This was expressed by the wild reception Sarah Palin's speech got at the 2008 convention, followed by the Tea Party insurgency that the McConnell/Romney wing did their best to tamp down, then the revolt against the "Gang of 8" group that tried to open the doors to mass immigration.
Romney's pathetic showing in 2012 (coupled with the treatment of the Ron Paul wing of the party) accelerated the departure, but the final stake was the GOPe trying to set the table for Jeb to be the sacrificial lamb for Hillary in 2016, when the Bush name was still radioactive politically. It's not a coincidence that Trump declared his candidacy the day after Jeb did--expunging the neocon wing from the party's leadership was always the goal, because he knew that's what most of the GOP's voters actually wanted.
So, how much longer for the major party realignment and redefinition to play out? Will Democrats double-down on elitist power and ideology? Will the New GOP really congeal around the working American image?
We'll find out in the next four years. If Sean O'Brien is making a bunch of visits to the White House in that time, then it's probably set at that point.
Expect there to be a lot of corporate warfare going on, too, since the GOP is no longer taking the Chamber of Commerce's calls or accepting that anything a business does is automatically good for the US.
This is an excellent summary, and very much agree.
Ive seen a few people putting forward the idea that in the post neo-liberal era, due to the R's actually having a real primary process where Trump got into the ring, people latched onto him, and he was able to win the nomination without interference from the RNC (at least not the kind the DNC does where they legit just pick their candidate)...this basically allowed the voices on the right to pick a direction, away from the past, away from status quo, away from the bush-cheney neocons.
The Dems have just never made the next step. Hillary would have been O's 3rd term, Biden ended up being his 3rd term, and Kamala would have been the 4th. Its just a continuation of the old guard elite that have ruled since the Clinton. They continually rigged the system to specifically keep out any grass roots movements, the Bernie bros etc, and shanked them to put their preferred elites in place. They actively resisted the change their voters were asking for, in favor of installing more deep state approved establishment elites. And they paid for it by landing on a candidate with the enthusiasm of a plank of wood. And they even solidified their aging, shambling zombie neoliberal status by picking up the neocons that got kicked to the curb, to create a party that truly is the party of "hey! remember the elite douchebags who fucked up the country, but now from both sides?!?!" They basically jettisoned the working class completely to become the party of elite DC establishment catch all from the worst politicians we have had on both sides.
I am so truly happy they got kicked in the teeth for it.
Ever since TARP, both parties have been in varying states of denial that their voters are becoming more populist in nature. The GOP had to go through this from 2006-2024, and the Dems starting with Occupy in 2012. Expect The Squad to have a LOT more visibility going forward, and the DSA wing to start taking over.
Y'all seem to be confusing me saying that I don't expect the party to do anything dramatic with me saying anything about what they should do.
It's odd.
What isn’t odd is your side constantly playing stupid when your dumb analyses are mocked, or using "y'all" on the internet as if it makes you sound more authentic instead of some hayseed LARPer. In fact, it’s so predictable I can set my watch to it.
Has either Joe Biden or the current President made any statements yet this morning?

AI will replace Hollywood soon enough.
This. I’ve been watching AI remakes of movies a lot on Youtube lately. The difference between now and six months ago is startling, and the difference between now and two years ago is like the Wright Flyer and the Concorde.
I think in five years you’ll be able to tell the AI what kind of movie you want and who you want in it and you’ll get something indistinguishable from Hollywood.

"her being a mixed-race woman in an interracial marriage was simply "too much" for most of the country to handle, implying racism or intolerance from white voters—an odd explanation given . . ."
. . . that Republican VP candidate JD Vance is also in an interracial marriage, with mixed-race children? None of those dastardly conservative bigots seemed to care one whit about that. Odd.
Just goes to show what hypocrites they are.
Also idiots. Probably intentional.
Also, presuming you didn’t marry a sibling or your neighbor from some remote, Japanese-Eskimo village or something, ‘mixed-race woman in an interracial marriage’ is redundant, literally ‘too much’.
Every relationship Tiger Woods gets in will be interracial. Like the whole “I’m a woman *and* a mother.” thing.

Liz, Manchin "frequently caucuses with Democrats". Why the need to equivocate? He got hosed on the fracking permit reform vote, then got back at them by blocking some of the other nonsense.
Gender gap- I'm anxious to see Trump/Republicans get to the 2026 midterms without trying to get a national abortion ban to see how sticky those female voters will be with that issue off the table. I'm guessing it will be very slippery.
MSNBC- a good example of what GHW Bush called the "soft bigotry of low expectations".
Lawfare- Trump will be too busy enacting his agenda to exact revenge. He'll squawk, but that's it. If Biden had a pair, he'd pardon Trump, while he's pardoning Hunter.
Optmism- not a chance. Dems will double down on DEI, Green New Deal, etc. If not, they won't get invited to Davos, which is the main point of the whole exercise.
Musk- when you have depts issuing fraudulent checks at a rate of 25% on hundreds of billions, there's a lot of low hanging fruit.
Quick Hits/Senate- you're so quick to label tariffs as taxes/price increases. Why do you ignore the same for corporate taxes? Repeat after me- Corporations don't pay taxes. Employees and consumers do. There, that wasn't so hard.
Anybody blame Russia yet?
I see Jeffy is mad.

Too skinny
Comrade, we covered our tracks well this time.
Svetlana, eagle flies east in morning.
I'm less worried about Donald Trump being President again that I am with the reaction of the deep state, Democrat party leaders, the current Biden regime, or the corporate media.
I don't have high expectations for the new Trump administration, but do believe that deep state, Democrat party leaders, the current Biden regime, and the corporate media will go to the very depths of the worst sections of the sewer, play every dirty trick imaginable, and twist, distort, and lie at every turn.
Trump didn't deserve to win, but Harris, the deep state, Democrat party leaders, the current Biden regime, and the corporate media surely deserved to loose.
No one deserves to win. You earn it on the campaign trail.
Wonder if the Democrats will try a 25th Amendment gambit, putting Harris in the presidency and attempting to do as much damage as possible before the inauguration.
I think their next play will come at Trump’s upcoming sentencing on the 12th by Juan Merchan, where the crooked judge will give him something outrageous like a long jail term or something and all the media and Democrats will say this disqualifies him.
Unless the NY Court of Appeals makes their decision first. I get the feeling from them that the whole case may be toast.
I would point out that the LP selected a socialist for their candidate. Every election their candidate moves further to the left - maybe that doesn't sit will with the actual libertarians (the few that are left) in the LP?
I mean, if your candidate is only slightly to the right of the Democratic one - what's the point in voting for them?
And it doesn't help that Oliver's outstanding attribute is that he's gay. Did you know he's gay? I'm sure he's told you that he's gay. Here, let me remind you that Chase Oliver is gay.
What?
Does Sarc know?
"I mean, if your candidate is only slightly to the right of the Democratic one – what’s the point in voting for them?"
The "point" of voting Libertarian remains the same as it always has been: being able to say you didn't vote for a major party and sneer at people who did.
If the point was actually to get people elected, make small incremental changes, and change America's political landscape, the party would focus on down-ballot races and build up a base rather then just looking at the top.
"If the point was actually to get people elected, make small incremental changes, and change America’s political landscape, the party would focus on down-ballot races and build up a base rather then just looking at the top."
Can't argue with that.
>>being able to say you didn’t vote for a major party and sneer at people who did.
Mean Girls was only funny because the one got hit by the bus.
The Venn (D)iagram of last night shows:
* Losing the White House
* Losing the senate
* Not gaining the House
I was poking around looking at election results and found something really strange, but right up Reason’s alley:
Somehow Chase Oliver managed a staggering 22.3% (third place) in Deschutes County, Oregon (Bend). I guess they don’t know he’s gay.
When you know your vote for a major party would be backing a candidate that will 100% lose, might as well cast the protest vote instead.
In case you missed the real most important news yesterday: Butt hurt white-adjacent Asian American picks Yo Mama! fight with African-American, loses.
Harris apparently just now called Trump to concede.
The Democrats really would have been better off letting Trump have his second term instead of pulling the desperation move of putting up Biden.
1. The ‘Trump era’ would likely be over now as he’d have spent the last 4 years not getting much done and being backstabbed by his own people.
2. Now he’s had 4 years to reflect on lessons-learned (hopefully!) and gather serious people to his team and the support of other serious people outside of it, including a realignment of the GOP that is ‘more populist’ (to use Reason’s term), ie, actually responsive to conservative voters, now.
3. This would have allowed the DNC to take the time to step back and regroup and look for a strong candidate to push their Progressive agenda instead of being stuck with grandpa in office and a woman as disliked as Clinton – without a fraction of Clinton’s actual accomplishments;) Now the DNC will have to spend the next several years searching their roster for someone who can take on not Trump, but Vance and/or DeSantis come 2028.
Right now they're facing a roster that could, potentially (but probably not) take the GOP through to 2040.
Yep. The Democrats teally screwed the pooch over their own TDS. They hated the man so much that they couldn’t see beyond it. Now, they’re going to be out in the wilderness for quite some time. Breaks my widdle heart to see it happen to such assholes.
The contenders for 2028 are going to be Newsom, Buttigieg, Pritzker, Polis, Brashear, and maybe Tester as an ex-"Blue Dog" who was Team Blue the whole time, but knows how to talk like a "hey pardner" folksy type without sounding like a dork like Walz. Either an ultra-slick technocrat with dark money connections, or an inoffensive red state Dem who might be able to rebuild the blue wall in the Rust Belt and maybe peel off Iowa, Georgia, Arizona, and Nevada.
I think the Dems are going to be done with girlbosses for the next cycle unless AOC, Klobuchar, or Whitmer decide to "lean in" and try to take what they don't really deserve.
2028 GOP will probably be Vance as the presumptive, but Meatball Ron might decide to give it another shot since he's been so successful turning Florida into a red stronghold.
Congratulations Trumpers!
I spent most of the last 4 years saying Trump was dragging the party down and couldn't win because of his stolen elections claims.
I was wrong. Although, I knew this for the past year or so, it's cemented in now.
Out of the bad vs horrific choice we had, I'm glad Trump won, but here's your chance to say "I told you so." Come on, pile on. I can take it. How often do you see someone online admit they were wrong?
And I'll say to the Trumpers, I hope he turns out to be as good as you claim, and I hope for another 4 years of (mostly) civil debate here in the comments.
For the record, not all of us who voted for him made any real claims about how good he might be ("as good as you claim"), but we felt pretty strongly that Harris would be far, far, far, far worse.
If he only fucks shit up a little bit, that's still a win over all the stuff we expected from her and her team in power. If by some miracle he improves things, even a little, that's gravy.
Fair enough. I think we're on the same page then.
Yeah, don't confuse sarcjeff's strawmen with what people here actually believe/advocate.
"For the record, not all of us who voted for him made any real claims about how good he might be..."
Some of us did; please tell us of a better POTUS in the last century and show your work.
toldya is no fun. the conglomerate of T voters feels like the '80s again when love was in the air and all was well. the fussin' and fightin' amidst the People was orchestrated by the Rulers and finally enough of us saw through the curtain.
I guess she did bring joy, just not to the ones she meant to.
Congratulations Trumpers!
First thing you need to do is drop that.
Well now hold on. The absolute best thing about Trump is that he rolled the snowflake-clock back and showed us we get to call each other names and not apologize.
Suck it, MAGAts! (joking)
This is the greatest political comeback since Caesar was told to disband his legions and return to Rome for trial.
>Trump will also need to resist his authoritarian impulses in terms of prosecuting opponents,
Why?
I see this as a two-fer - squeeze his opponents with the legal system like they did him, teach them maybe this isn't a good thing . . .
And then clear the way for Vance to be merciful in victory by stepping back from that when he wins.
Meanwhile, in an alternate universe, i.e. my local college where I volunteer as a professor and try to bring a different perspective to campus, here is the opening of a letter from the college president:
"As we reflect on the recent election, I recognize that we are experiencing various emotions and possible feelings of uncertainty. Together, we can navigate this period with resilience and clarity, keeping our shared values at the forefront.
"I want to reaffirm our unwavering commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and academic freedom. These principles are central to our mission and will continue to guide our actions, regardless of national political shifts. Our goal remains to provide a safe, welcoming, and intellectually vibrant environment for all.
"To our students—especially those from marginalized or vulnerable communities, including LGBTQIA2S+ and undocumented students—please know that you are valued members of Fort Lewis College. You belong here, we care about you, and we are here to support you. We remain committed to uplifting and supporting our diverse student community. Counseling services and student support resources are fully available should you need them."
I guess if you drink enough Kool-Aid you can never question your own ideology, and doctrine. And once again, a reminder that this coddling message for emotional support is directed not at children but at college students, i.e. young "adults" who have sufficient intellect and maturity to tackle higher education, and be the Leaders of Tomorrow.
"I guess if you drink enough Kool-Aid you can never question your own ideology, and doctrine."
... how many people in this thread are still insisting that the 2020 election was stolen?
it's become even more obvious that it was. 20 million vote spike in 2020 for some reason? hmmmm
yo. figures apparent.
including LGBTQIA2S+
Anyone who uses that acronym in earnest should be deported. good lord.
Agreed.
Bro, I was checking out at the store, and as I always do asked the cashier how his day was going. His unhinged response, barely holding back tears:
"Well I went to bed in a free country and woke up in a FASCIST FUCKING HELLSCAPE, but other than that, I guess im fine for now, until Trump shoots me for speaking out of turn"
These people are too far gone for saving.
Seems to me that if a woman wins the presidency, her stance on abortion really decides nothing unless she opposes it.
Meanwhile, America in general suffers from not bearing enough children to remain growing or even steadfast in population. In other words, if not for immigration, the population would be on a downswing. Therefore, is there any real surprise that the choice/abortion issue refuses to go away and that Americans find little cause to elect a pro-choice female?
It's not that a pro-choice candidate can't prevail but rather that Americans possibly want leadership that celebrates a family upside rather than symbolizes immolation of further reason to promote conjugal loyalty. And then you also have adoption. How far could a candidate get who wanted to reduce immigration but increase foreign adoptions as a way to promote parenting, in general?
Could effective parenting have positive effect on the shithole country? We have America's profile in its role as popular leader that contributes to emulation just as countless nations have such profiles throughout history, over time.
"Make choice non-divisive again!" In effect, laissez-faire. And what does this moment look like, in history, in the most rational of times in history when governments were not intruding so deeply into home life as to prosecute anyone playing a role in family planning that mismatched a government official's plan for what you should be doing?
so 20 million democrat voters from 2020 just decided to not bother to vote this year?
Can we all just finally admit that 2020 was a rigged election? it's freakin obvious
The deep state bureaucrats engineered a system to essentially pay people off during the pandemic with all the PPP bribery and work-from-home jiggery-pokery. Then they sent ballots to homes and got out the message that pulling the (D) lever kept the spigot on. That was the rigging.
The Democrats just confirmed the age-old wisdom that a whore won't yank your lever without getting paid.
2004 Kerry 59 M
2008 Obama 69.5 M
2012 Obama 65.9 M
2016 Clinton 65.9 M
2020 Biden 81.3 M
2024 Harris 66.4 M
Looks totally legit to me. Highest percentage of voters in 150 years, and all for obviously senile Joe who campaigned in his basement, because apparently the people hated Trump.
Here's a graphic to emphasize the point.
But if you think that looks weird and have some questions, then you are a conspiracy theorist and should be kicked off the internet and have your credit cards cancelled, and people should call your employer demanding you get fired.
And if you protest it in DC then you're an insurrectionist and need the maximum sentence plus 10.
Here's David Frum who has managed to come up with the most nauseating Tweet of the morning:
"Eight years ago this night, my son asked me: 'What do we do now?'
I answered,
'We walk to the bar, strike up the band, and sing The Marseillaise.'
These past few months, my plan for 2025 was to retire from political journalism.
Seems I'll have to make new plans."

Gosh, a neocon wants to use the anthem of a violent left-wing revolution as a morale booster?
That fucking post has all the authenticity of a Kardashian's face.
Modern day Jacobins have the sads that they won't get to decapitate their enemies this go-round.
Now the US will have an adult in the White House.
Where's the fun in that?
...and we were having so much fun with inflation, wars, oppressing free speech, etc.
I hope all you are happy now.
*puts down Viking helmet, flag, fire extinguisher*
Guess I wont be needing these today!
That, seriously, is the silver lining of this victory.
A few people like Nardz still want to have some physical day of reckoning, but the rest of you are content to celebrate owning the libs and maybe enjoy watching a bit of counter-lawfare.
Yeah, I don't think there's a lot of people who truly wanted something to flare up.
But did seem to be a lot of "Don't start nothing, won't be nothing." and "FAFO" sentiments.
I don't even want anyone locked up just fucking fired. all of them. go write books and slither up and down K Street or whatever.
This concession speech fully looks like someone who was just happy to be here, knows she was promoted far past peter principle territory, and might honestly be happy she didnt get the job because deep down she knows its far beyond her very very meager capabilities.
Probably honestly a sigh of relief for her.
She never should have been put up to running for the job by those who wanted to control her behind the scenes. I place a lot of the blame on them rather than just her.
I'd love to see Jacob Chansley get a cabinet position. He's earned this more than most.
The foundation for yesterday’s events was laid in the aftermath of the 2016 election, when the Dems decided to act like the German ultrarightwing circa 1919 (my longtime Usenet ally, Christopher Charles Morton, actually made this comparison in the comments section of the Cleveland Plain Dealer web site in November of 2016) turning their “Trump is Colluding with the Russians®™ to Win the 2016 Election” idea (developed to win the election) into the “Trump Colluded with the Russians®™ and Stole the 2016 Election” propaganda campaign, (their own Stab in the Back®™ conspiracy theory) designed to disrupt the peaceful transfer of power and sabotage the Trump administration.
The appointment of a special counsel to investigating the firing ofJames Comey as obstruction of justice justice led to a law enforcement investigation of this conspiracy theory, lending the illusion of credibility.
“Trump is a Traitor who Colluded with the Russians®™ and Stole the 2016 Election” became the narrative, the basis for opposing Trump. Any idea that disagreed with them became Russian Disinformation®™. And so many people believed it precisely because a Special Counsel was investigating it.
