America, That Bad Little Girl
Plus: Childcare costs, Texas time, and more...

Keep your kinks to yourself: At a Turning Point USA rally for Donald Trump this week, former Fox News anchor—and now, independent media mogul—Tucker Carlson got mighty poetic:
"If you allow people to get away with things that are completely over the top and outrageous…and you do nothing about it…you're going to get more of it," he began, analogizing the Trump-America relationship to that of a father and his misbehaving children.
"There has to be a point at which Dad comes home," he continued. "Yeah, that's right. Dad comes home, and he's pissed. Dad is pissed. He's not vengeful. He loves his children, disobedient as they may be. He loves them because they're his children."
"Get to your room right now, and think about what you did! And when Dad gets home, you know what he says? 'You've been a bad girl. You've been a bad little girl, and you're getting a vigorous spanking right now. And no, it's not gonna hurt me more than it hurts you. No, it's not. I'm not gonna lie. It's gonna hurt you a lot more than it hurts me. And you earned this. You're getting a vigorous spanking because you've been a bad girl. And it has to be this way.'"
This strange, kinky soliloquy on the right reminded me of this terrible graphic—not the first of its kind, and representative of a whole genre—on the left:
Come on, we all know there's only one VP candidate you would be excited to see at the family gathering — and he's the one who will actually protect IVF, abortion access, or LGBTQ+ rights.

America's not some naughty little girl, J.D. Vance isn't a creepy uncle, Tim Walz isn't a lovable Carhartt dad, Kamala's not mother (or a "baddie"), and Donald Trump isn't daddy, the disciplinarian. America's still the freest, richest, most prosperous place on Earth, not because of politicians who try to convince us they're parental figures but despite them.
There are a bunch of narratives that have emerged from this election cycle—educational polarization widening, second-/third-/fourth-generation Latinos moving rightward, the oddness of both Georgia and Arizona becoming just a tad bluer—but one under-discussed narrative is the degree to which the younger generation (and apparently Tucker Carlson, too!) grafts familial roles and relationships onto politicians and their supporters. It started as just a silly little meme—Gen Z calls people mother as a sort of term of approval, in the same way that they've recast brat's meaning—but it says something about the level at which we're operating: We wrongly understand politics as deeply personal (which raises the temperature); interpret authority as something to be assented or submitted to, not checked; think in terms of oversimplified memes, not foundational principles.
Speaking of kids: "I have a toddler and over the past three years my family has spent over $120,000 on childcare…How can families like ours, or those with fewer resources and more kids, sustain the rising costs of raising children today?" asked one man in a NewsNation town hall with Republican vice presidential contender J.D. Vance.
"Sometimes these issues are a little bit harder for working moms than working dads," offered Vance—admitting gender differences that are sometimes a little triggering for progressives—before launching into his real answer: "I think we have to give young women and young men more options to actually build the kind of childcare that works for them."
"Some people would like to stay at home maybe for a couple years, maybe they'd like to stay at home for a couple months then go back to the workforce, maybe they'd like to go back to the workforce right away. The childcare regime we have in this country basically tries to force a one-size-fits-all model on the entire country."
He spoke about the Community Development Block Grants, and how these fund only one type of childcare. He talked about how there are sometimes grandparents, aunts/uncles, members of a church community who want to take care of children, but that it's very hard for these folks to actually receive any sort of federal incentives to make it financially possible for them. "The federal government actually makes it really hard for anybody other than the people who are currently providing childcare to get into that job." (Watch here.)
Vance is, of course, no libertarian. At one point, he endorsed forcing large companies to accommodate such childcare arrangements via mandating paid leave provisions. And involving the government in any of this is something with which many libertarians would find fault. But his fundamental point is a fair one: The federal government currently subsidizes certain types of behavior but not others. What would happen if we made a concerted effort to tweak that, to allow more choice?
The "weird" Ohioan has his flaws, but this town hall was an example of where elections ought to be focused: on actual policy tradeoffs that affect real people's lives, and what the role of government is exactly in facilitating people getting to live out their full potential.
Meanwhile in Texas: As the race nears to a close, Kamala Harris has this weekend decided to eschew another swing state visit, choosing good old red Texas (my homeland) instead.
Accompanied by native Texans Beyoncé and Willie Nelson, Harris appears to be trying to emphasize abortion rights, in a place with strict bans, and sort of gin up interest and virality amid plenty of campaign monotony and predictability. She'll sit down with podcaster/therapy-speak normie-whisperer/Target mom Brené Brown. She'll probably don a cowboy hat.
Amusingly, Donald Trump will fly on down to the Lone Star State to record an interview with Joe Rogan today. It's kind of a fun, absurd, late-in-the-game coincidence that both presidential candidates are hitting Texas, versus a state that's actually in play. (Unless…could it be in play? Probably not, but that would be wild.)
Scenes from New York: No. Let's just think about Texas for another moment. Just take a moment to think about kolaches and Luckenbach and gun rights and watering holes and margaritas and Tex-Mex. It's my newsletter, and we'll spend a moment appreciating Texas if I say so, dammit. What have you done to respect Texas today?
QUICK HITS
- "Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co. has achieved early production yields at its first plant in Arizona that surpass similar factories back home, a significant breakthrough for a US expansion project initially dogged by delays and worker strife," reports Bloomberg. "The share of chips manufactured at TSMC's facility in Phoenix that are usable is about 4 percentage points higher than comparable facilities in Taiwan, Rick Cassidy, president of TSMC's US division, told listeners on a webinar Wednesday, according to a person who participated. The success rate, or yield, is a critical measure in the semiconductor industry because it determines whether companies will be able to cover the enormous costs of a chip plant." TL;DR, this has big implications as far as American competitiveness with China, the strategic value of Taiwan, etc.
- "Citizens in the UK have been arrested, prosecuted, and convicted for silently praying outside abortion clinics," reports Madeleine Kearns for The Free Press. "Even organizing pro-life meetings in your own home may be a criminal offense." The full piece is very much worth a read.

- You'd have to be mighty desperate to want to come to Canada of all places. But, in all seriousness, this seems bad for would-be migrants (and…possibly for America's border influx?). Also, what does "let our economy catch up" even mean?
We're going to significantly reduce the number of immigrants coming to Canada for the next two years. This is temporary — to pause our population growth and let our economy catch up.
We have to get the system working right for all Canadians.

- Speaking of immigration, this may be my favorite theory circulating on X right now:
The fact JD Vance in all likelihood cooks Indian food better and more often than Kamala Harris does is a testament to how well integration is happening in this country, disproving his immigration pessimism.

American Civil War 2.0
A quarter of Americans expect a civil war after the elections, Time writes, citing its own survey.
Concerns that violence is very or somewhat likely are shared by 27% of American adults, including 30% of women and 24% of men.
Additionally, 12% of respondents said they personally knew someone who might take up arms if they believed Trump had been cheated out of the election.
5% of respondents said they knew someone who might do the same if they believed Kamala Harris had been deceived.

Three out of four people polled are sleeping. Divorces can be messy.
Did Time survey how many Act Blue donors might take up arms to prevent Trump from taking office?
The left will not settle for a divorce. They are the abusive spouse who will insist on submission and cry victimhood when the SO lashes out.

Many people have had enough. I’ve seen a few videos and predictions regarding the chances for a civil war and who would likely win. This is one of them: https://youtube.com/watch?v=yaGc4jMGcVU
A civil war would be disastrous.
You still have a few days to start prepping. Begin with a week’s worth of supplies.
I’m gonna be out of the country.
Allowing the democrat party to exist much longer will be even more disastrous. Amd splitting the country is even worse.

The [Na]tional So[zi]alist[s] party shouldn't get representation because they're treasonous to the USA (defined by the US Constitution). Something that would actually be enforced if SCOTUS actually did it's JOB.
A lot more like Syria than US Civil War #1: Four different factions willing to fight any of the other three, and the good guys by far the weakest faction.
Who are the "good guys?"
The ones that survive and write the accounts of what occurred.
Hard to tell, but if the Canadians take a side that would definitely eliminate one of the four factions from consideration.
Anti Canada xenophobia.

How Cheerleaders of the Forever Wars Got Away With Murder
https://www.thenation.com/article/society/press-cheerleaders-afgan-war/
Packer and the current editor of The Atlantic, Jeffrey Goldberg, were among the leading liberal advocates of the Iraq War. Both Packer and Goldberg were staff writers for The New Yorker, where their advocacy for the war helped persuade centrists and liberals who might otherwise have been more skeptical of Rumsfeld and their ilk. They were in line with New Yorker editor David Remnick, who penned a notorious pro-war editorial. Goldberg wrote in his infamous 2002 article “The Great Terror” that Saddam Hussein had “possible” ties to Al Qaeda. This claim rested on a single named source, a smuggler named Muhammad Mansour Shahab. Other reporters who interviewed Shahab, notably Jason Burke of The Guardian, found him to be a fabulist who told demonstrable lies.
Explaining in Slate in 2008 how he got the Iraq War wrong, Goldberg claimed he “didn’t realize how incompetent the Bush administration could be.” The incompetence dodge is also the subtext of Packer’s Rumsfeld obituary. Packer complains that Rumsfeld “believed in regime change but not in nation building, and he thought that a few tens of thousands of troops would be enough to win in Iraq.” The implication is that an illegal, immoral war sold on lies could actually have succeeded—if only it had been better planned.

That Atlantic Trump-‘exposer’ also helped misreport America’s way into Iraq war
https://nypost.com/2020/09/10/that-atlantic-trump-exposer-also-helped-misreport-americas-way-into-iraq-war/
Headlined “The Great Terror,” the essay was based on a reporting trip to Iraq’s northern Kurdish zone. It recounted, in terrifying and admirable detail, Saddam Hussein’s 1988 poison-gas assault against Kurdish civilians in the village of Halabja.
...The mostly unnamed prisoners, per Goldberg, informed him “that the intelligence service of Saddam Hussein has joint control, with al-Qaeda operatives, over [a local jihadist faction]; that Saddam Hussein hosted a senior leader of al-Qaeda in Baghdad in 1992; that a number of al-Qaeda members fleeing Afghanistan have been secretly brought into territory controlled by [the local jihadists]; and that Iraqi intelligence agents smuggled conventional weapons, and possibly even chemical and biological weapons, into Afghanistan.”
Goldberg concluded: “If these charges are true, it would mean that the relationship between Saddam’s regime and al-Qaeda is far closer than previously thought.”
Yep, he’s one of the Bushpigs that Shrike promotes here.

You’re a Justin Castreau fan now after his immigration crackdown?
Justin has collapsed the Canadian public health system, and raised the average price of a house in Vancouver, Toronto and Montreal to about 1.25 million dollars. Cities across Canada sewage systems are crashing, and immigrants are 40 – 50 to a house because of his amazingly stupid immigration policies.
How does a country of 35 million handle an influx of 1.5 million immigrants a year when absolutely nothing was done to prepare for it???
And it’s not just citizens who are suffering. I work with a truly excellent man who is Gambian, but moved to Canada from Vietnam with his Vietnamese wife and their three children. They settled here a year and a half ago, he got a job and so did his wife, his kids are in school and happy, they are renting a house.
He is here on a work visa which expires in a month. He submitted all his necessary documentation for an extension a year ago, but unfortunately the department that process the paperwork is a year and a half behind. Because they are also dealing with a huge influx of phony refugee claimants.
He was telling me with genuine tears in his eyes that he might be forced to leave because his paperwork is not going to be done next month. And he and his family will have to abandon everything to go they don’t know where.
If he had just showed up and claimed refugee status he would have gotten free housing and $3500 a month and wouldn’t have to worry about paperwork. But he went the proper way and this immigrant family is about to be fucked by Justin Trudeau’s virtue signaling and grotesque incompetence.
So fuck you and every other phony who thinks you can just open the doors to a welfare state without any prep and think everything will be fine.
TLDR, there’s an election next year and Justin is polling lower than any PM in Canada’s history and every Premier across the country hates his guts, and if he doesn’t temporarily do something to stop the nations collapse, his party won’t even get one seat next election.
That's why he put on the breaks.
Election? You Canadians should just overthrow Trudeau and hang his whole party at your nearest opportunity. As an object lesson, perhaps to your neighbors, of what happens to Marxists when they practice their malignant philosophy.
Unfortunately, the whole executing/hanging overthrown Marxist leaders has been done already, and yet people still believe in Marxism.
Then it wasn’t done enough.
"Election? You Canadians should just overthrow Trudeau and hang his whole party at your nearest opportunity."
I could say the same thing about what should happen to the junta who seized control of Washington in Jan 2021.
Good morning. Sarc usually takes the afternoon shift.
Hangovers are a bitch.
And he might be waiting to be released from the ,oval drunk tank, depending on how belligerent he got last night at the bar.
Sarc is sleeping it off (ok, more like passed out in a pool of his own piss and vomit), and Shrike is furiously masturbating to child rape videos.
Not enough dick pics?
Just weird that the “(Vice) President’s Son’s Lost Laptop” story is full of leaked dick pics and the “Celebrity Sex Island” story is nothing but people in swimsuits or getting foot rubs.
Admittedly, I’m not plumbing the depths of the internet for Epstein Island pics, but (not so) odd that the Katie Hill and Susanna Gibson (among other) stories were spicier.
Edit: Also "(lack of) coverage" pun.

Pharma Paid $1.06 Billion to Reviewers at Top Medical Journals
https://publichealthpolicyjournal.com/pharma-paid-1-06-billion-to-reviewers-at-top-medical-journals/
The pharmaceutical industry paid $1.06 billion to reviewers at top medical journals between 2020 and 2022, according to a research letter published last week in the Journal of the American Medical Association (JAMA).
Payments to peer reviewers for The BMJ, JAMA, The Lancet and The New England Journal of Medicine included $1 billion to individuals or their institutions for research and $64.18 million in general payments, including travel and meals. Consulting fees and speaking compensation accounted for $34.31 million and $11.80 million respectively.
Among the nearly 2,000 physician peer reviewers analyzed, more than half received at least one industry payment between 2020 and 2022.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eliezer_Masliah
Eliezer Masliah (born 1958 or 1959[1]) is a neuroscientist and medical researcher whose work concentrates on the biology of aging and Alzheimer's disease in particular.[2] He received his medical degree in 1982 from the National Autonomous University of Mexico.[3][4] He was appointed head of the U.S. National Institute on Aging's Division of Neuroscience in 2016.[5] He was previously a professor of neuroscience at the University of California, San Diego.[6][7]
His work specialized in the mechanisms of Alzheimer's and Parkinson's diseases, particularly around the alpha-synuclein protein.
He has a prolific body of work—much of which is now under scrutiny for containing manipulated images to support different conclusions than the real data—including 800 research papers, and has been widely regarded as one of the world's leading neuroscientists.[8][9][1][10] This body of work is now suspected of image and data irregularities.[1] In September 2024, the NIH released a statement that stated he was no longer serving in the role of Director of the Division of Neuroscience.[11]
Research misconduct allegations
In September 2024, Masliah's work came under intense scrutiny when an investigation led by the journal Science exposed extensive image manipulation across 132 of his published research papers. A dossier compiled by forensic analysts and neuroscientists pointed to repeated instances of Western blot manipulation, image reuse, and other forms of digital editing across decades of his research. These allegations involved crucial studies related to Alzheimer's and Parkinson's disease, particularly surrounding the alpha-synuclein protein.[1]
The controversy includes papers that have influenced clinical trials, such as those related to the experimental Parkinson's drug prasinezumab. Several papers foundational to its development were flagged for image manipulation. Trials for drugs like cerebrolysin, an Alzheimer’s therapy, were also found to be based on questionable data from Masliah's lab.[12]
Masliah has not publicly commented on these findings. As of September 2024, the NIH confirmed that Masliah was no longer leading the Division of Neuroscience at the NIA, following an internal investigation initiated in May 2023.[13]
neuroscientists pointed to repeated instances of Western blot manipulation
I've run more than a few Westerns in my day. For those not involved in biological science, when you see the term "Western blot," you should probably be very skeptical. They are the polygraph test of biological science. It's an assay that's easy to skew by accident or on purpose.
As for me, I'm happy to have moved on to more robust technique of mass spectrometry and hope to never have to run another gel.
It isn't hard to make a western blot look exactly the way you want. If you are going to cheat, put a little effort into for heavens sake.
By the way, there's another very similar story affecting Alzheimer’s research and involving manipulated images and Westnern blots.
A 6-month investigation by Science provided strong support for Schrag’s suspicions and raised questions about Lesné’s research. A leading independent image analyst and several top Alzheimer’s researchers—including George Perry of the University of Texas, San Antonio, and John Forsayeth of the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF)—reviewed most of Schrag’s findings at Science’s request. They concurred with his overall conclusions, which cast doubt on hundreds of images, including more than 70 in Lesné’s papers. Some look like “shockingly blatant” examples of image tampering, says Donna Wilcock, an Alzheimer’s expert at the University of Kentucky.

I have a toddler and over the past three years my family has spent over $120,000 on childcare…
Why would you admit being that stupid?
Only the finest imported au pair for his kid. Accept nothing less!
LOL, no shit. Yeah, daycare is fucking expensive, but $120K for one kid in three years?
Maybe you should have done the math prior to having a kid, instead of three years after the fact, and figured out if it was more cost-effective for one parent to simply stay home rather than spend all of your income paying the babysitter.
Probably a leftist who alienated his entire family for not being a pure Democrat and part of their cult. Was forced into it.
And only the top daycare centers will do, but don't you dare give others a choice for which school they can choose.
Yes = 120K for a kid over 3 years. Let's do the math.
120K / 3 years = 40K annually. 40K/12 months = 3,333 monthly.
3,334 monthly/4 weeks = 833 weekly
This is not an unreasonable amount in the Northeast. That isn't far from the going rate in NJ, which is regulated AF.
Can you do cheaper? Yes. But you give things up in a trade-off.
And what does a working parent have to gross, to afford spending $60k net?
Of course, both parents might actually hate kids.
All mine were claimed to be Haitian asylum seekers. Still $120k each per year, but not out of my family’s pocket!
Then I hope you didn't leave them with the family cat unsupervised.
When their parents are not around, they are supervised by their Haitian au pair. And we no longer have a cat.
It’s a mystery nobody can solve.
Why have a kid you don't want to raise?
So you can virtue signal by transing them.
How can families like ours, or those with fewer resources and more kids, sustain the rising costs of raising children today?
We can start by repealing the idiotic booster seat and car seat laws that require oversized car seats for young kids and only seem to benefit the makers of such seats.
Car seats 'expire.' Dumbest thing I've seen in a while.
And in California, they cause cancer.
Not to forget making it impossible to put three kinds under 8 in anything less than a three row SUV or minivan, and fucking around with them at every store you stop by.

https://dailycaller.com/2022/05/18/wpath-world-professional-association-for-transgender-health-eunuch-forum-castration-fetish/
WPATH, which sets medical standards for transgender medical procedures according to U.S. Assistant Secretary for Health Rachel Levine, released new draft guidelines Dec. 3, 2021 which include “eunuch” as a gender identity. The organization pulled information from a website called “Eunuch Archive,” which hosts thousands of members who discuss their castration fantasies and, according to WPATH, hosted a popular post providing instructions for self-castration.
WPATH referenced stories of self-castration shared on the site to argue that healthcare providers must castrate individuals for their own safety if they believe a person will likely chemically or surgically castrate themselves outside of the formal medical setting otherwise.
Path already admitted to medical malpractice. They all should loose their licence and be jailed

Told you fuckers.
The funny thing is that the only liberals I see talking about this are gay liberals who are coming to the dawning conclusion that the Trans movement is not nice, and is mutilating gay children. It was a cook book all along.
You know who else prided themselves on living an ascetic lifestyle and repressing sexual urges through castration?
(Congrats to the LP on choosing a candidate more crazy *and socially destructive* than vermin supreme.)
Crazy cat ladies? (you did say cat-stration, right?)
According to jeffy, you can't believe what WPATH actually says if it is pointed out by someone who doesn't wholeheartedly agree with them.

Did Brad Raffensperger Just Telegraph the 2024 Steal in Georgia? He’s Going to Accept UOCAVA Votes for 3 EXTRA DAYS! Are Republicans Paying Attention
https://www.thegatewaypundit.com/2024/10/did-brad-raffensperger-just-telegraph-2024-steal-georgia/
On Sunday, Georgia's controversial Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger announced that Georgia will be collecting UOCAVA ballots for three days after the election!
"75% of all the vote totals will be reported no later than 8pm on election night... What we will be waiting for is the overseas ballots that come in no later than Friday,” Raffensperger said during the interview.
Maricopa County in Arizona said it will take 10 to 13 days to count votes.
Then every other county in the state needs to release their final vote count 14 days after; 1 day after Maricopa County so that Maricopa can’t just fake votes to push a candidate ahead.
Which is why democrats are suing states like Georgia to precount the total number of votes.
Same with Arizona. The red counties should say their votes will be counted after Maricopa county gives their totals
That's what the tactic needs to be going forward--if these blue counties want to play those kind of "oh look at these boxes we found in storage closet" game, then the other counties need to slow-walk and put delaying tactics on their reporting until the blue counties submit their vote totals.
Do we have a ratio of suddenly found ballots for Dems vs GOP? One would think it would be close even or close to the existing vote ratio if this was just a bunch of accidents.
The dem counties will "find" enough ballots to have the dems win. They want to be subtle, so they find just enough.
If you take away the blue fags ability to come up with just enough you have a more fair election.
Please note voter fraud has only gone one way for the last 50 years, is why I say stop playing nice and engage in the corruption
Spoiler alert: it is not even close to the normal ratios
Musk’s Empire Risks Being Targeted by EU for Potential X Fines
Commission may base fine on revenue from Musk’s ventures
Investigators haven’t come to a conclusion about fining X
https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2024-10-17/musk-s-empire-risks-being-targeted-by-eu-for-potential-x-fines
The European Union has warned X that it may calculate fines against the social-media platform by including revenue from Elon Musk’s other businesses, including Space Exploration Technologies Corp. and Neuralink Corp., an approach that would significantly increase the potential penalties for violating content moderation rules.
Time for the US to threaten significantly LARGER fines if they DO engage in content moderation and let the EU know precisely where they stand in the grand scheme of things.
We do not need the EU. At all. More headache than they are worth.
Fuck. We might as well actually make a deal with Putin, and divide Europe--if we want any of it.
Norway has oil, so yeah.
Remember folks, the EU is the opposite of democracy. It's unelected bureaucrats deciding how everyone in the union should live their lives, often overruling the democratically elected officials of the different member states. Additionally, they also try to rule how people outside the union live their lives, in order to do business with the EU. Furthermore, the EU actually sucks as an economic union, producing little to no growth for its member states. Even Germany, one of the most influential members is now bucking Brussels and planning on reintroducing border controls.

Female volleyball player, 17, left paralyzed with brain damage by transgender opponent who 'cackled with delight' after knocking her to ground
https://www.dailymail.co.uk/health/article-13693959/payton-mcnabb-volleyball-player-paralyzed-brain-damage-transgender.html
Her and the guy lying about being a girl
On the one hand, it’s unfortunate that the boy was playing against the girls in the first place.
On the other hand, “paralyzed with brain damage” is a redundant appeal to emotion and “cackling with delight after knocking someone down” is kinda core to the classical distinction between a sport and a hobby.
On the other other hand and by the same token; yeah dude, if you’re going to show up on the girls court and paralyze one of them, you're going to get rightly demonized for paralytic brain damage and cackling, your fault for pretending to be a chick and stepping foot on their court. Be thankful that most men these days aren’t as dishonest and underhanded as you are and paralyze you in turn.

‘Gaps And Inconsistencies’: Up To $41 Billion In World Bank Climate Handouts Unaccounted For, New Report Finds
https://wattsupwiththat.com/2024/10/20/gaps-and-inconsistencies-up-to-41-billion-in-world-bank-climate-handouts-unaccounted-for-new-report-finds/
Up to $41 billion of the funds distributed to climate causes by the World Bank between 2017 and 2023 are unaccounted for due to poor accounting standards, according to an audit from Oxfam International published Thursday.
The enormous sum represents almost 40% of the climate funds the Bank disbursed during the seven year time period, with World Bank data failing to show the recipients and uses of the money, the Oxfam investigation found. Top Iranian Pentagon aide keeps security clearance despite ‘spying for Tehran’ accusation
https://nypost.com/2023/10/20/pentagon-aide-called-iran-spy-keeps-security-clearance/
An Iranian-born Pentagon official is to keep her top-level security clearance despite being named as part of a covert influence campaign run by Tehran — and being called a “spy” by Republicans.
Ariane Tabatabai appeared to be a willing recruit in the covert influence operation run by Tehran’s Foreign Ministry, according to a trove of leaked files revealed last month by Semafor.
She was previously a key aide to the suspended Iran envoy Robert Malley, whose secret ties to Tehran sparked congressional uproar.
Internal watchdog says State Department mishandled Iran envoy’s clearance
In at least one case, State took actions to spare Rob Malley from “potential embarrassment.”
https://www.politico.com/news/2024/09/18/investigators-say-state-department-mishandled-iran-envoys-clearance-00179799
State Department officials failed to follow standard procedures when suspending the security clearance of Iran special envoy Rob Malley, leading to “significant confusion” about what work he could do, an investigation has found.
In some instances, the confusion “likely led” Malley to engage on topics “outside the limited scope of issues on which he was authorized to work,” according to the investigators’ report.
Malley may have, for example, participated in a conference call before he was aware his clearance had been suspended, and he may have had access to sensitive emails.
The findings by the State Department Inspector General’s office — whose report was first obtained by POLITICO — are likely to deepen the mystery around Malley, a controversial Washington figure who has been the subject of an FBI criminal investigation involving his handling of classified information.
Pentagon denies employee of Iranian origin leaked Israel's strike intel
Last week, two US intelligence documents reportedly disclosing Israel's plan for a potential retaliatory attack on Iran were leaked.
https://www.jpost.com/breaking-news/article-825701
The Pentagon denied that Ariane Tabatabai, Chief of Staff of the Assistant Secretary of Defense for Special Operations, is a subject of interest in the investigation for the alleged leak of classified documents pertaining to Israel's plans for a retaliatory attack against Iran.
"To my knowledge, this official is not a subject of interest," said Press Secretary of the Air Force, Maj. Gen. Pat Ryder told reporters on Tuesday afternoon.
Earlier Tuesday, Sky News Arabia cited a senior Pentagon official who reportedly named Tabatabai as the main suspect in the FBI's investigation into the leaks.
Something is totally fucked up about this situation. For sure, Malley and Tabatabai need to be removed and reassigned, and/or prosecuted.
You know, I think we should remain uninvolved and neutral. At the same time, if Malley and Tabatabai were found having jumped from a bridge with .50 AE or 9mm rounds that traced back to a Desert Eagle or Jericho 940-series pistol in their back… I would think we should still remain uninvolved and neutral.
Trump gets prosecuted over classified info. These two do not. We know who the administration wants stopped and more importantly who they do NOT want stopped.
If Iran uses a nuke and/or backs a major terrorist attack here, people will be getting the hot shot for literal treason.

Absolutely insane. Trump was president and had every right to take copies of his papers, whereas these guys were leaking to an ostensibly enemy power and nothing.

Dave Smith, about a year or so ago, went off on his podcast about ENB. He said, yes, prostitution and sex work should be legal. You own your body and can do what you want, as long as you're not violating the NAP. But prostitution/sex work should not be praised. The social stigma for it can be a good thing. You'll have to weigh the downsides, including the stigma, before deciding to go that route, and don't whine about it after the fact if you don't like the consequences after doing it.

“For better or worse, no one is listening to him anymore and his words have little power and less reach. It’s a blip. Gone in any meaningful way by mid-day tomorrow if it makes it that long,” posited the official.

Willie Nelson, eh? What's he been smoking?
Wildwood weed.

Merle would come back from the dead if they did use him to vote for Kamala. Notice Kris Kristofferson wasn't also on that list, or Johny Cash. BTW, how is Willie the only one left alive from the Highwayman? Weed must be the secret to long life.

What have you done to respect Texas today?
Having lived in New Mexico for eight years now, I'll point out that 1) New Mexico would be bigger than Texas if we smeared it out to the same altitude, and 2) Texans love to hate New Mexico until they all show up in Red River to cool off in the summer.
Texans love to hate New Mexico until they all show up in Red River to cool off in the summer.
I can understand the resentment, considering the New Mexicans kicked their asses twice in military campaigns.
We do sometimes go there to cool off in summer. Sacramento Mountains though, anything within 100 miles of Taos is just a little too Taos-y.
1. Green chile is excellent.
2. Fry bread is overrated. Not bad, just overrated.
3. Speed limits unreasonably low, but not really enforced so OK.

Can you grace us with more amazing mathematics Mike?
11.5M is more than 440,000. Do you realize how ridiculous you look claiming otherwise?
No please. Go on with your amazing assertion that crimes committed by immigrants don't add to the total numbers. That was an amazing leap in logic.
When your ethos requires you to make retarded assumptions and deny all negative externalities, create strawman lies and arguments, and embarass yourself... maybe it is time for a new ethos Mike.
I'd like to hear about the chemical formula for water if you don't mind. A hydrogen and two oxygen atoms, right?
A Texan whining about some other state's speed limits? I visited an aunt in Mineola many times and never could understand why Texas thought 5 mph lower night speed limits made any difference.
Montana does the same thing. Highways are 70 in day time and 65 at night, and all 18 wheelers it’s 65 all the time. Though nobody really obeys the lower night time speed limit, and most 18 wheelers ignore the lower speed limit too.
Haven't seen any day/night speed limits, but then I've never been to Mineola.
Agreed that a 5mph difference is ridiculous when traffic routinely moves at 10-15mph over the limit anyway.
New Mexico is Arizona without money, and with more Democrats. Not sure if those are related.
Speaking of topography (and underlying geology) we could eliminate New Mexico by dividing it into natural subsections, and reassigning these to neighboring states.
Texas gets the eastern third, including all that nasty oil production.
Arizona gets the desert valley and range southwestern quarter, and the Indian country plateau domain in the northwest.
Colorado gets the high mountain areas in the north.

Of that figure, calculated by Washington DC-based non-profit Federation for American Immigration Reform (FAIR), $67 billion came from the federal government, but the majority of the burden was shouldered by states and local governments.

Facebook censorship: Just for old times’ sake, Facebook is doing some censoring ahead of the election. This time it’s a little harder, yes, but they’re up to the task. So the new rule is: You are not allowed to write about the Biden administration’s inefficiencies. Yes, Facebook will block you for trying. Specifically: You cannot point out that the administration set aside $42 billion in 2021 to set up rural broadband and has so far connected zero people. Nor can you point out that they set aside $7.5 billion for electric vehicle charging stations and have, after two and a half years, built eight charging stations. Post about it and it’ll be blacked out as FALSE INFORMATION. This paragraph you just read is forbidden knowledge.
When Facebook was busted for this—this being blocking negative content about Kamala Harris ahead of the election—Facebook said oops! Whoops! Boop! Heard blasting in Facebook HQ: the old Britney anthem. Old habits die hard. Let’s just hope Ella Emhoff doesn’t have a weird laptop floating around!
No one has any idea who the spy might be! Someone high up in American military intelligence leaked Israel’s exact plans of where and how they will attack Iran. Yes, those plans showed up casually in Iranian group chats. It’s led some to wonder if the leaker could be one Ariane Tabatabai, chief of staff to the Assistant Secretary of Defense for Special Operations, a woman who seems very, very close to Iran and also has access to basically all American military intelligence. She once wrote to an Iranian Revolutionary Guard to ask if he’d want her to accept an invitation to Saudi Arabia: “I would like to know your opinion; would you be interested in this?” The FBI is looking into who the leaker is. But Ariane is buddies with Kamala’s top foreign policy adviser, Philip Gordon. Hmm. Somehow I doubt we’ll ever find the Iran leaker. Maybe it’s the intern.
Meanwhile, Iran is desperately trying to kill Masih Alinejad, the Iranian dissident feminist who fled to the U.S. Federal prosecutors just charged a handful of Iranian military leaders with trying to assassinate her. But no arrests, of course. The FBI is working so hard to make sure Iran doesn’t kill Masih, who lives on that corner, no no, the yellow door, yes that one, don’t go there!

Earlier this month, Tyree Conyers-Page—a.k.a. Sir Maejor Page—the 35-year-old former leader of the BLM chapter for Greater Atlanta, was sentenced to 42 months in federal prison for money laundering and wire fraud. Instead of spending the $450,000 raised from 18,000 donors to “fight for George Floyd,” Page splurged on tailored suits, nightclub bar tabs, an evening with a prostitute and, as he texted to a friend, “a big-ass” mansion in Ohio.
Page is not an outlier. Take Melina Abdullah, co-director of BLM Grassroots, who media reports accuse of using the organization’s money to pay for vacations to Jamaica and her own personal expenses. Though Abdullah has not been charged with a crime, California’s attorney general has threatened to revoke her organization’s tax-exempt status if she fails to turn over its delinquent tax filings and late fees by Sunday.
“Abdullah has denied the allegations, but at least $8.7 million in donations is unaccounted for,” writes investigative reporter Sean Patrick Cooper in his first piece for The Free Press. “The answer to where the money went may come soon.”
“Maybe,” Sean concludes, “if the founders had been as committed to social justice as to enriching themselves, BLM could have enjoyed a long life as a progressive institution.” Instead, the movement is a cautionary tale for what happens when people with good intentions are given too much money. Read Sean Patrick Cooper on how BLM misspent millions of dollars.
Leftist politics is all grift all the time. Same with most NGOs.
Marxists with mansions.
the movement is a cautionary tale for what happens when people with good intentions are given too much money.
Even if the people giving the money had good intentions, the people taking it never did. It is unconscionable to assign good intentions to an openly Marxist organization. It is the stated goal of Marxism to corrupt the functioning parts and exploit the weaknesses of society until revolution becomes inevitable.
Yeah, there's a reason that Indonesia has almost no commies and that it is dominated by Muslims today, after being run by a commie in Sukarno. Suharto reasoned that "liberating tolerance" required eliminating them from the country.
Every leftist NGO wants to be the SPLC, but it takes a lot of effort to sustain a grift for decades like they have.

Justin Trudeau wants to get at least one seat in 2025, and without stopping the spigot for a bit it's not going to happen. You can't import 4% of the country's population every year for eight years without some serious damage.

More honestly to defraud the taxpayers.

Ms Wolfe, here is a hint: If you are reacting to a Hot Take from Billy Binnion on X, you are already starting with a 3 stroke handicap.
Everyone who has watched this video has just taken for granted that Carson is talking about Trump as "Daddy". He is not. To be fair, Carlson's speech is long and rambling, but he is very clear at this point. He is saying that there are 2 reasons to stop what has been going on the last 4 years- 1) because it is an unjust, unfair system and 2) because if you (not Trump, he repeatedly says YOU) do not stop this behavior then it will encourage more of the behavior and it will continue.
Carlson is not fetishizing Trump as the Democrats did with Walz. He is demanding that each voter take control of America, just as "Dad" comes home to set his house in order.
Now you can disagree with that notion, and you can certainly question his "Vigorous Spanking" rhetoric. But it is tiring to see ostensible "Reasoned" individuals just swallow what a bunch of bluechecks said on X without bothering to watch and understand it for themselves.
One should remember that Billy Binion is retarded and does a lot of retarded takes.
Well said
"If you allow people to get away with things that are completely over the top and outrageous
Interesting way to frame it there, Tucker. So what we do is only because we have permission from people like Tucker to do those things. We can't do things that Tucker wouldn't approve of, otherwise Daddy Government will spank us.
Or without a vax pass.
One day, you must tell us how you do it, how you manage to be so wrong and so fucking retarded.
Is this the Carnegie Hall Corollary?
More like the Monte Hall Corollary. When jeffy offers up a red herring, there is a dramatically increased chance that he is absolutely full of shit.
Also, what does "let our economy catch up" even mean?
It means that unskilled migrants from third world countries are a net drain on the economy in a service economy welfare state, and even progtards like Justin Castreau realize it.
San Jose State University has a male on the Women's Volleyball Team (couldn't make the men's team, I guess), and finding anyone to play against is not easy. After several teams forfeited, they hoped that Nevada would play, and the Nevada team officials confirmed so.
Not so fast; the players said 'nope - we are a womens' team'

The BC election was 5 days ago. Now uncounted ballots are being mysteriously found. Before there were 49,000 and now there are 65,000!
If Elections BC wanted to create a suspicious situation where fraud is a legit concern, they wouldn't need to do anything different.
Yikes.
This is the new norm.
But of course the usual leftists will scream cleanest elections ever.
Only if they win. Otherwise, it's "Russia, Russia, Russia".
Have you taken back your lie from October 15th, when you said that Arizona had 200,000 "noncitizens" on their registration rolls?
Here is the exchange so you can't claim you didn't say it:
Spiritus Mundi: This year VA removed over 6000 noncitizens from the voter roles, Alabama over 2000....
I, Woodchipper: and I believe Arizona recently removed 100,000. wtf....
JesseAz: Up to 200k. They weren’t removed. Democrats sued to make sure they could still vote in state elections.
Your misrepresentation, of course, is that it was 200,000 non-citizens. It was 200,000 people, almost all citizens, who had not yet sent proof of citizenship to the authorities.
If you don’t produce proof of citizenship, how can you claim to be a citizen?
Your EBT card recharges the first of each month.
You’re lying about what I said as usual Mike. Like usual.
I said 200,000 who didn’t prove citizenship AS REQUIRED BY LAW. I also clearly stated this was for state election forms, not federal forms.
Like most democrats here you remain consistently dishonest. It is consistent. Why would a Democrat from California actually know Arizona issues anyways. Maybe learn enough to not lie about it?
And yet I can point to a federal judge ordering a state to add back in 1500 self declared non citizens in VA.
“Let’s be clear about what just happened: only eleven days before a Presidential election, a federal judge ordered Virginia to reinstate over 1,500 individuals–who self-identified themselves as noncitizens–back onto the voter rolls,” Virginia GOP Gov. Glenn Youngkin (R) said in a statement. “Almost all these individuals had previously presented immigration documents confirming their noncitizen status, a fact recently verified by federal authorities.”
https://justthenews.com/government/courts-law/federal-judge-orders-virginia-place-non-citizens-back-voter-rolls
So even after I assert correctly you lie about arguments of opponents above, you do it again immediately.
Good work Mike. Jeff has taught you well.
You also called Fontes a republican in that back and forth lol.
Arizona gaslighting. You’re being called out for what you lied about then, not your revised lies today. As sarc points out, this is a pattern with you. Say crap then deny you said it even though it’s there for everyone to see.
October 15th in case anyone wants to check. SM said noncitizens are registered to vote and you lied that there were 200,000 of them registered. Today you’re falsely claiming you meant something else, and only because you’re getting called out for it. It’s lying squared.
You might have corrected yourself in some other thread that day, it's hard to keep track of your weave. But you definitely said it then.
As for the Arizona thing, when you lie about Arizona as your little contribution to the Trump-Vance agenda, people are going to keep calling you out on it.
Continue with your lies Mike. It is all you democrats have. You, Jeff, sarc, shrike… can’t tell the truth. That’s how you know your side is collapsing.
I had posted that story days before. I know Arizona laws and stories unlike you who doesn’t even know party affiliations. Or math.
You’re embarrassing yourself Mkke.
Even here you try to apply other people’s comments to my comments like a dishonest shit weasel. You’ve learned well from Jeff.
There is a reason you didn’t link to the thread lol.
And yes non citizens were found in that 200k dummy.
I was wondering why polls now talk about "within three suitcases" instead of "within the margin of error".
Carlson's analogy involved spanking as a form of parental discipline. If you get "kink" from that, it sounds more like projection than analysis.
Not so sure about that. Imagine Biden saying this and the field day we'd be having with it.
"Bad little girl" and "vigorous spanking" definitely have innuendo in modern American culture. But at least he didn't say "naughty."
Biden sniffs little girls and showers with his own daughters. His kids are all fucked up as well.
And a shitty dog owner.
Not a fan of Dr. Jill either?
Agreed. I don't understand why it's that hard to acknowledge that Carlson spoke like an idiot.
dude's excitable sometimes. #metoo.
I'll agree the day I see a video compilation of Tucker like this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5XqF4wA-dco
Well there's a big difference between sounding like a creep and being a creep.
You'd have to be mighty desperate to want to come to Canada of all places. But, in all seriousness, this seems bad for would-be migrants (and…possibly for America's border influx?). Also, what does "let our economy catch up" even mean?
It means it takes your welfare-laden economy time to absorb migrants... is what that means. I'm not sure why this is even a question or controversial.
Migrants arrive. Migrants who are not high skilled, pre-planned migrants who have jobs waiting for them. They don't speak the language, they don't have jobs, they don't have housing, a plan, anything. Your welfare system has to kick in to provide them housing, welfare payments to carry them over on things like food, healthcare etc. Whatever one thinks of immigration MUST realize that they need time to adjust, find work, pivot off the permanent welfare, and start integrating with your "contributory" welfare systems. Jesus, I can take my Trumpy MAGA hat off and put on my ActBlue Soros open borders hat on and understand this concept.
Justin Trudeau has realized the political reality of the situation. Let's say he's "caught up" to impacts of his luxury beliefs.
"catching up" is not the stunning part of this statement, the 'stunning part' is he's admitting everything every reasonable conservative has said which was decried as "populism". That's the stunning part.
he’s admitting everything every reasonable conservative has said which was decried as “populism”.
Oh huh, I missed where he made the "skittles" analogy and claimed that Canada has to stop letting immigrants in because one of them might be a terrorist, you never know!
Or maybe the part where Trudeau said "we have to stop letting immigrants in because they are poisoning the blood of Canada and we can't have that"
Or maybe the part where Trudeau said "they're rapists and murderers and cannibals and we don't want that kid of trash here"
Yeah, what every "reasonable conservative" has been saying, minus the bigotry
Man you've been taking some Ls lately.
Yeah, you don't get to revise the past and now claim that your arguments were oh-so-reasonable why can't everyone see how reasonable they are, when in fact they were bigoted crap. Trump's OPENING PITCH on the topic of immigration was that they were rapists and criminals. He poisoned the well from the start and the supposedly "reasonable" part of your team either got disgusted and left, or were happy to participate in the bigotry as long as their policy agenda was enacted. So no, there is a light year of difference between your team's argument of "we need less immigration because they are HORRIBLE PEOPLE WHO HATE AMERICA", and Trudeau's argument of "we need less immigration for reasons that have nothing to do with besmirching the character of the immigrants themselves". They're both wrongheaded, but your team is even worse.
The end result is the same. A recognition that there are too many people pouring across the border.
Trump's opening pitch was that SOME of them were rapists and criminals and that we need to have an actual hard border to stop them and make the determination before allowing the good people entry.
But you know that, don't you, jeffy? You lying gasbag fuckweasel.
They all lie. It is all they have. See Mike above.
It means it takes your welfare-laden economy time to absorb migrants… is what that means. I’m not sure why this is even a question or controversial.
Again, I’ve been known to misread Liz’s satire, but this felt snarky/sarcastic to me.
Even if they were perfectly-skilled for “shovel-ready” jobs in a perfectly naturalized Western, American sensibility, it still takes time to find an apartment, parking, fill out all the HR paperwork, 2 week pay period with, potentially, a delay while direct deposit is set up, etc., etc. before you’re an economically productive employee.
Maybe it was satire. Didn't feel like to me.
But... yeah. Housing and jobs are, in the continuum of life, infinite. But at any one snapshot moment, housing and jobs are finite. If your social construct has a 10% vacancy rate, or X number of 'surplus' units available for human beings to move into, and you suddenly release a boatload of 20,000,000 migrants-- and those 20,000,000 migrants far exceed that available supply, it will take time for the economy to build new units and grow the surplus. It just doesn't happen over night, but 20,000,000 migrants can show up... pretty much over night.
Now, back in the day when there was no cradle-to-grave welfare, you'd simply pile 30 migrants into a one room walkup with no running water. That's how the economy dealt with a sudden influx of migrants when there were fewer houses and jobs to absorb them.
"...Sometimes these issues are a little bit harder for working moms than working dads," offered Vance—admitting gender differences that are sometimes a little triggering for progressives—before launching into his real answer: "I think we have to give young women and young men more options to actually build the kind of childcare that works for them..."
YMCA in Oakland offered low-cost child-care for working Moms, and then the Oakland city council decided all jobs needed to be 'living wage' jobs. The Y warned them that the Y could not afford to pay the new M/W and the child-care would cease.
The council said 'we don't believe you', raised the M/W. The Y fired all the child-care workers and the Moms had to quit their jobs to stay home and take care of the kids.
Perhaps we should just get the government the fuck out of our lives.
"Perhaps we should just get the government the fuck out of our lives."
You fascist!

$40K per year in 'child care' for a toddler? How much is that person making per year to make that much money expendable?
Double income, modern professional parents. It's a hit, but perfectly doable. Private school will often cost that.
That’s fine, but it’s not my problem.
I think he was stating facts, not endorsing policy.

Not that you should be require to by law, but not that anyone else should be required to subsidize you either.
Wherever Dick Cheney is, Jeffery Goldberg is right behind. This election, the Iraq war, wherever.
https://www.public.news/p/kamala-harris-hitler-focused-closing
The Atlantic has become the publication of choice for Democrats and Intelligence Community (IC) intermediaries and an ostensibly “former” CIA employee to demand mass censorship.
Goldberg’s article in the Atlantic also quoted Trump calling a slain Mexican-American solider a “f— Mexican,” after having previously offered to pay for her funeral, in an Oval Office meeting.
But Goldberg did not name a single source in his article, while all named individuals in the room at the time deny that Trump ever said such a thing.
“The Atlantic hit piece is a lie,” said the translator of the meeting with the soldier’s parents. “President Trump had zero interest in the cameras. He met with the Guillén family privately for twenty minutes and offered the press gaggle solely if it would assist them in honoring Army Specialist Guillén and raising awareness about her case.”
Guillén’s attorney Natalie Khawam said, “After having dealt with hundreds of reporters in my legal career, this is unfortunately the first time I have to go on record and call out Jeffrey Goldberg@the Atlantic: not only did he misrepresent our conversation but he outright LIED in HIS sensational story.”
There are other red flags in Goldberg’s story. He told CNN that Trump calling Guillén a “f— Mexican” is something that “tracks with everything that we know about the way he speaks,” but he did not say this in his article and offers no evidence to support his claim that those two words are uniquely Trumpian.
Goldberg’s claim that someone in the Oval Office meeting wrote down that Trump had called Guillén a “f— Mexican” stretches credulity. Why would someone have done such a thing and in front of so many people crowded in the Oval Office? Were they worried they wouldn’t remember that Trump had said such an outrageous thing?
And there is evidence that Goldberg deliberately misrepresented the meeting. Ben Williamson, the spokesman for Meadows, said he told The Atlantic that Trump “absolutely did not say that” but the Atlantic claimed Meadows said he “didn’t hear Trump say it.” Williamson shared his text message to the Atlantic as proof of his claim.
When CNN confronted Goldberg with what Meadows said, he said, “We've seen this pattern again and again and again. They deny, deny, deny, and then it comes out as true.” Goldberg then cited as an example another one of his claims: that Trump had called slain soldiers “suckers and losers.” But no independent evidence has ever come out that Trump said such a thing.
Imagine that, Jeffery Goldberg lies. Seems to be something he does as easily as breathing.
When CNN confronted Goldberg with what Meadows said, he said, “We’ve seen this pattern again and again and again. They deny, deny, deny, and then it comes out as true.”
He's speaking for his own side here, presumably.
The fact JD Vance in all likelihood cooks Indian food better and more often than Kamala Harris does is a testament to how well integration is happening in this country, disproving his immigration pessimism.
Now that deserves a "huh"?
Is his wife going around committing violent crimes? Is she voting illegally?
JD Vance was wrong about curry.
Your statement won’t curry favor with him.

https://www.thefp.com/p/abortion-buffer-zones-united-kingdom-free-speech-arrested-for-praying-in-her-head
This is due to the UK’s brand-new “Safe Access” law, which came into effect September 24 and made it a criminal offense to do anything within 200 meters of an abortion facility that could “influence” someone’s decision to access, provide, or facilitate an abortion. In the Scottish government’s letter, Emma read that even “activities in a private place (such as a house) within the area could be an offence if they can be seen or heard within the Zone and are done intentionally or recklessly.”
“You can report a group or an individual that you think is breaking the law,” the letter added, before providing instructions on how to do so.
...In November 2022, Adam Smith-Connor, now 51, a physiotherapist and veteran, was interrogated by local authorities in Bournemouth, on the south coast of England, which had recently introduced an abortion censorship zone. His alleged crime was silently praying for three minutes while 50 meters from an abortion clinic. When council officers asked, “What is the nature of your prayer?” he replied: “I am praying for my son who is deceased,” referring to his unborn child that he and his then-girlfriend decided to abort two decades ago.
Smith-Connor was charged with breaching the censorship zone. Earlier this month, on October 16, he was convicted and ordered to pay £9,000 (roughly $11,700) toward the prosecution’s legal fees. He set up a page on a crowdfunding website, which raised the fee within hours. He and the lawyer supporting him are considering an appeal.
The same day, also in Bournemouth, the trial of Livia Tossici-Bolt was due to begin. The retired scientist, who’s 64, faces the same charges as Smith-Connor, but her alleged offense is standing outside an abortion clinic in March 2023 with a sign that simply read: “Here to talk, if you want.” (Her trial was postponed to March 2025, to give both legal teams time to consider the implications of Smith-Connor’s verdict.)
Around the same time, in Birmingham—the UK’s second-largest city—Isabel Vaughan-Spruce, 47, was arrested for silently praying outside an abortion clinic. (More about her case later.)
Gosh, you'd think a libertarian magazine might be interested in stories like this.

Hey, we got a good Tennyson poem from it (although he got almost everything wrong about the Light Brigade's charge).
And he got a lot of it wrong because he was basing it on newspaper accounts and, I know this will be a shock to us here, but the reports were largely wrong because a lot of the reporters writing on it weren't even there.

NOT CREEPY AT ALL: 'People Will Know Whether You Vote'
https://pjmedia.com/chris-queen/2024/10/22/whats-with-these-ads-that-say-people-will-know-whether-you-vote-n4933549
The second mail piece she received was a postcard with a graphic that proclaimed, “Georgia Votes Tuesday, Nov. 5” and a web address that forwards to the state portal for voting questions. But the postmark was from “Suburban Illinois,” and the message was the same: who you vote for is private, but whether your vote is a matter of public record.
I received one of these, and was wondering who to complain to. From what I read, it has to be a “threat of injury” through the mail to be a felony. (My mail was from some Environmental Vote org, which claims to be non-partisan. Riiiiiight.)
I saw an ad like that on Youtube.

Idiots.
Good to see them facing reality though. 🙂
What does the Venn diagram of American witches and crazy cat ladies look like?
A perfect circle.
Also, there's a reason why older, more conventional religions don't let you put curses on others.
I served with a girl who was raised Wiccan and still kinda practiced. She didn't really appreciate the broom jokes people made, but she was kinda hot, and really not that crazy seeming.
I had a Wiccan in my flight at basic, but based on what I saw it was more of a "fuck you dad" thing for him than anything sincere.
Okay, she was really hot but not sure if you hit it if you're breaking the cardinal rule about putting your dick in something crazy. She did end up marrying another dude from our unit who was fairly straight laced, so like I said didn't seem crazy.
The dumb thing about Wicca is it was invented mid-century by a creepy little British civil servant named Gerald who used it to convince chicks to go naked.
It was cribbed mostly from James George Frazer's The Golden Bough and Margaret Murray's nonsensical inventions.
It's got zero to do with actual European and Celtic paganism.
Trump had Roy Cohn put an "I'm rubber you're glue" protection spell put on him before he got into New York real estate.
Are these the same people as the necromancers who can raise Democratic voters from the grave?
> Also, what does "let our economy catch up" even mean?
If you'd been following Canadian news lately (yes, it's totally understandable that you haven't), you'd know that while Canada's collective national GDP has been growing a bit the last few years, its per capita GDP has, in fact, been declining.
Just wait for all those new food trucks to kick in.
And it will decline even more after Trump wins and all the proggies here take asylum.

> The share of chips manufactured at TSMC's facility in Phoenix that are usable is about 4 percentage points higher than comparable facilities in Taiwan
This is good news , but there's a lot of potential slop in the definition of "comparable facilities". We do know that the facility in Phoenix is producing on the "4 nm" process, which is relatively recent, but not the cutting edge -- that's TMSC's "3 nm" process.
(Quotes because while the names of the chip processes used to actually correspond to feature size on the dies, that hasn't been true in a long time, and various foundries use various rival definitions.)

Meanwhile in Texas: As the race nears to a close, Kamala Harris has this weekend decided to eschew another swing state visit, choosing good old red Texas (my homeland) instead.
With 2 weeks to go, Harris is in the deep south and in TX instead of GA? Not much of a chance this is going to change anybody's' mind. But, Texas, with its 40 electoral votes, would be the absolute best place for Democrats to game the election. They may have told her they need some even remotely plausible cover story for when the state suddenly flips blue on election day.
Most. Secure. Election. Ever.
Mainly trying to shore up her flagging support in Houston, and also to counter Trump because he's supposed to go on Rogan's show in Austin today.
Harris County is more corrupt than Fulton County, GA and probably as bad as Cook County, IL. Sending her to where the fix is already in seems suspicious. The voting shenanigans in Texas in 2020 were pretty egregious, and it showed.
The party may have written Kamala off already and may be looking for a state that they might be able to pick up a Senate seat in, given the fact that it's looking very good for the Republicans to win both houses, and given the polling in the Rust Belt senatorial races, which aren't trending the Democrats way. They've long entertained the fantasy that Cruz is beatable but the polling shows him pulling away with a comfortable lead. Or she's just so bad on the stump, that they want to sideline her without obviously sidelining her. Which I think is more the case. Send in her surrogates, Clinton, Obama, Springsteen etc, to the states that matter and send her to Texas to talk abortion so CNN can keep mentioning she's in Texas, a state with 'strict' abortion laws, talking about 'a woman's right to choose'. The Trump is Hitler routine seems to have failed, so now she's pivoting back to abortion, abortion, abortion. The fascism label might have been a more effective attack if they, the left, hadn't used it in every single election against the Republican nominee, since Goldwater in 1964, and yes, this is well documented (with receipts as the kids who won't stay off my lawn say).
