Brickbat: The Most Magical Place on Earth

Six employees of the New York City Department of Education used federal funds to take their children and grandchildren on trips, including to Disney World. The money came from a program aimed at giving homeless children incentives to increase their grades and attendance. The educators listed homeless students going on the trips and forged parents' guardians' signatures, but they took their own children and grandchildren instead, according to a report by the Special Commissioner for Investigation for the school system. The department says none of the employees are currently with the school system, but it isn't clear how many of them were punished. None were referred for possible criminal charges.

But what was their skin color?
Wow. You triggered a tardalanche.
I’ve been counting, and by now, we have been PROMISED ten point seven three TRILLION times by politicians, that they would eliminate waste, fraud, and abuse… And here we are!
I am SHOCKED! Color me SHOCKED!
PS, Trump's plan to appoint a Special Committee headed by Mr. Elongated Musty-Dusty-Trusty-Tusk-Musk? Now THAT will FINALLY fix this kind of shit! And if'n ye do snot BLEEVE?!?! Then SHAME on ye! Shame! Tusk-Tusk, Musk-Musk-Musk!!!

Trump says Elon Musk has agreed to lead proposed government efficiency commission as ex-president unveils new economic plans
Whutever happened to Lee Iacocca as the go-to Xpert?
Lee Iacocca TOTALLY ELIMINATED waste, fraud, and abuse… For ALL of Space, Time, and EternShitty!!! Butt He did shit in an invisible way, so ye have to have FAITH!!! FAITH, ye unclean infidel, FAITH!!! Yer lack of FAITH is why the PervFection of ALL Things is SNOT yet visibly manifestered to and uponst us ALL quite ye!!!! KEEP THE FAITH, all of ye infidels out there!!!
What's even worse is the amount of resources and money that get spent for the purpose of preventing the "waste, fraud, and abuse" that are only slightly mitigated by those efforts.
If there were no active countermeasures in place, the amount by which those problems would increase is probably less than what's being spent on half-assed, impotent, and incompetent mechanisms meant to stop them.
Winner, winner, chicken dinner!!!
The ostensibly former employees should each receive one more free trip to a federal prison. While the article suggests none are working at the NYDOEd, maybe all transitioned with federal dollars and are still there with some variation on their originally given correct gender name. Hence “ostensibly.”
Waste, fraud, and abuse will be ELIMINATED when we teach the young children to get MUCH, MUSK BETTER at taunting and bullying the gender-queer kids!!! Got it, thanks!!!
By all means, punish theft of taxpayer money by spending more money locking them up.
I say bring back stocks and pillories. Let them sit or stand in their front yard or a field near their home all day, a bottle of water always available and topped up, buckets off rotten eggs and squishy tomatoes long past their use-by date available for spectators to throw. and at the end of the day, hose them off so they don't pollute sidewalks and bus/subway seats. At the end of the day, pay what you owe and you're done; otherwise you get hauled back a week later for more of the same. Still some police costs, but nothing like a year in jail, and it gives them and their community a reminder.
The money came from a program aimed at giving homeless children incentives to increase their grades and attendance.
Our next president will reform that program, instead sending those homeless kids' parents on a trip to prison and giggle about it.
If they could figure out who the parents of most homeless kids are, those kids wouldn't likely be homeless anymore, for the most part.
Runaways who want to give it another try where they came from can find ways to get back, unless they've fallen victim to some trafficking operation in which case they're probably not enrolled in school.
Not just any employees. The regional manager of the department that sets up temporary housing was the ring leader and got 5 subordinates to join her scam. She lied about it, organized it through outside groups to try and hide it then resorted to the standard "harassment, witch hunt and racist" themes. All 6 are no longer with the department although Wilson, that manager, claims to have retired. If so she is getting a pension from NYC.
The magic is mostly making money disappear - - - - - - -
Is Disney really the most magical place? At lots of public schools girls can become boys, boys can become girls, kids can become dogs and cats, and teachers sprinkle fairy dust on everyone!
Jeff said it was ok if public school teachers sprinkle on the kids.
Chumpy Chumply-Chunky Clump-Chump said that shit is A-Okay if Dear Leader sprinkles upon Spermy Daniels, and passes shit off ass “champagne campaign expenses and spermenes”!!!
(The rest of us get spermed all over is A-OK!!!! "Collateral Damage" of and to Our Collective Colonoscopy, is all shit is!)
Gah!
Clicked through to the comments without being logged in and got some SQRL on me!
P.S. Is it just me or did they start expiring sessions a lot more frequently here than they used to? Or is that some new "feature" of my browser or security software?
I've had that logout crap much more often recently too.
Used to happen once every month or two, annoying at worst. Other sites keep me logged in for ages, as long as I visit once a week or so.
Then i got much worse, sometimes logging me out more than once a day, but not consistently.
Then Feb 29 rolled around, and I thought the logging out was their nudge to pony up $25, which will never happen as long as KMW reigns and so many staff are in DC and NYC.
Then I started migrating to a new laptop and thought the increasing logouts were because they hated me being logged in from two computers.
The worst is commenting, reading more, commenting again, and when I click SUBMIT, it decides I needed logging out, and it throws away the comment.
I don't think it's malicious. I don't even think it's the $25 nudge. There's too much other incompetence on the website, such as an initial blockquote never closing, so people begin comments with ".", and that EDIT forgets blockquote tags and some others.
Maybe it's lack of funds to pay for upkeep and competent programmers and web site designers. Maybe the death of the good Koch brother means the bad Koch brother is responsible for everything -- KMW, DC and NYC, and a shoddy site.
I don't know, but I do know I will never pony up $25 for this.
“The worst is commenting, reading more, commenting again, and when I click SUBMIT, it decides I needed logging out, and it throws away the comment.”
So it’s not just me then.
I’ve taken to composing posts in Wordpad and pasting them rather than have them get lost.
And while I'm complaining...the activity feed just skips dozens of postings.
I think that's browser behavior. I get logged out pretty frequently on my phone, but I've been logged in on my PC for months at this point.
Only ever use PC for Reason.
How many actually homeless students are there? It can't be that many.
Looter Immunity: just day it's for the children and you're off scot-free!
"The Most Magical Place on Earth."
A crack den?
No more federal funds. This shouldn't have been something that was federally funded in the first place.
