Serenity Now
Plus: Biden drop-out watch, tech issue grounds flights, J.D. Vance and the dissident right, and more...

Trump's back, and he's weirder than ever: Last night, former President Donald Trump took the stage to close out the Republican National Convention (RNC) in his first address since he'd been shot. For the first 30 minutes, it was easy to detect a tonal shift. Trump, a man who tends to be impulsive and mercurial, prone to exaggeration and brusqueness, seemed transformed into someone wholly different. Someone contemplative. Someone serene. Not wounded, exactly, but unnerved by his close brush with death, and increasingly moved by any mention of faith and God (of which there were many, since even the Amber Rose/Hulk Hogan/Kid Rock-era RNC is still the RNC).
He shared the stage with the empty uniform of Corey Comperatore, the firefighter who had died from the assassin's bullet at Trump's campaign rally in his stead. Naturally, the uniform was misspelled, which seems somehow fitting for a Republican Party that's heavy on the symbolism and showmanship but light on the details; still, Trump displayed a certain reverence and humility that's been, up until this point, barely detectable.
Trump is so affected by the assassination attempt. You can feel it. It's very strange to see him rattled but it's the most human he's ever been.
— Dave Smith (@ComicDaveSmith) July 19, 2024
The problem was that he did not stop speaking after 30 minutes. He went on for 90 minutes, veering off-script and enjoying some moments of improv including touting right-to-try legislation (which he has been very good on) and, oddly, claiming the next RNC will be hosted in Venezuela (?) if Democrats try to steal this election and the country descends into political violence. At times, Trump was characteristically funny, saying he had a sneaking suspicion that North Korean leader Kim Jong Un misses him, calling former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi "crazy Nancy," and making an odd digression into talking about Hannibal Lecter from The Silence of the Lambs to make a somewhat convoluted point about insane asylums and how "foreign countries are 'emptying their mental institutions' into the U.S.," per Intelligencer (which neither appears to be happening nor is the plot of The Silence of the Lambs). There was, overall, less invective and more talk of unity, but by the post-midnight end of the speech, most people watching had some pent-up anger at the rambling, incoherent time-wasting Trump soliloquies.
Perhaps more importantly, the through line between both Tucker Carlson's speech earlier in the evening and Trump's closing speech was a message that life has gotten a lot worse under the Biden administration: Inflation has made groceries and gas more expensive; large swaths of both Eastern Europe and the Middle East are now less stable; parts of our own country are gripped by poverty and drug addiction; the border is increasingly chaotic and intractable, with an influx that can't—or won't—be stemmed.
Whether or not the message is true is beside the point for a lot of voters. Trump identifies what they think ails them, and he peddles the cure.
DROP OUT ALREADY: "Several people close to President [Joe] Biden said they believe that he has begun to accept the idea that he may not be able to win in November and may have to drop out of the race," reports The New York Times, having talked to four different sources close to the president. Biden is also reportedly asking whether Vice President Kamala Harris might have a decent chance at winning if he stepped aside—a proposition he was opposed to just a week ago.
Interestingly, it's some of the most radical members of the party—like Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D–N.Y.)—who are skeptical of the Biden plan to drop out. Meanwhile, the henchmen of former President Barack Obama have been shit-talking Biden, while Obama himself has remained mighty quiet; former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D–Calif.) and Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D–N.Y.) have both privately expressed their hopes to Biden that he will drop out, and upon him failing to heed their calls, leaked such info to the press.
"We increasingly hear top Biden aides, including ones who initially urged him to fight on after his disastrous debate on June 27—21 days ago—are saying it's now when, not if, Biden announces he's not running," reports Axios, indicating a reversal from those close to the campaign.
Sources close to President Biden tell me tonight they're *furious* that while the president is trying to recover from Covid in Rehoboth, a pressure campaign keeps picking up speed. Lots of anger toward some donors for talking of $ drying up if he doesn't quit, toward what they…

"If Biden digs in after the weekend, public pressure from Dems will increase," writes New York Times columnist Ezra Klein on X. "Ugly in a way no one wants. But a lot of grim determination. Also a growing sense that if Biden stays in, this will come to be seen as the kind of political catastrophe you don't want to later be seen as silent in."
Scenes from New York: Why has the city been cracking down on kava bars? Kava, if you don't know, is "derived from the roots of the kava shrub, has for centuries had ceremonial and medicinal uses in the Pacific Islands, and those who use it find it calming and mood-enhancing without the judgment-impairing effects of alcohol," reports Curbed. It's unclear why exactly the city would decide to marshal its resources to force such purveyors to close, especially when they provide alternatives to bars for those who suffer from addiction or just want a different type of social environment.

Chunky Brewster DEI hires can’t protect OrangeManBad. There should be a pay gap at the US secret service because short fat chicks aren’t Terry Tate, office linebacker. Eva Nolan Braun may have wanted them to fail and to reward them; the Red Wedding editor possibly sad too.
Brandon stepping down? That old pedo shouldn’t be stepping anywhere lest he risk falling and breaking a hip. It was nice seeing him finally reject masking for covid… a few years late; he could write for Reason. Him dropping out will allow more time to spend with his hobbies such as showering with his daughter, shitting his pants, and groping random children. Perhaps he’ll end up at the Neverland Ranch & Assisted Living Facility.
JD Vance, Vance Refrigeration, is pro US taxpayer funding of Israel. The Madison Ave boomer groomer consumers will still have some of their globohomo unipolar wars. Hopefully not in eastern Europe.
Crooks had a handler and multiple shooter evidence surfacing. Next attempt on Trump may be with a drone as a message from Kiev not to stop the gravy train. Some refer to the shooter as Ree Tardy Oswald.

Why can't you guys just accept that a 5 degree roof slope is simply too dangerous to man?
Too dangerous to wo-man.
They were out of Asian agents to handle the slant.
There was a chink in their armor.
They didn't follow protocol by building a Great Wall between the podium and sniper positions.
That would have been pandaring to those claiming security was too lax. The US secret service will need to make a great leap forward.
The US Secret Service response to the Trump assassination attempt in Butler was like watching a Chinese fire drill.
And an hour later you feel like you want to do it again.
Mexico didn't want to pay for it.
There was *no* chink in their armor - that was the issue;(
How will they manage that with heels on?
Exactly. We wouldn't want the bullet catchers to slip and fall.
I know you're mocking the situation, but when they made that claim in all earnest...the roof the (one of?) counter-sniper team actually on was sloped more than that.
Yeah, a 5 degree slope on a roof is approximately 1:12, which is considered a low-slope roof. And, fairly typical on a metal building like that. A more typical pitched roof might slope somewhere between 4:12 and 7:12, but some do get steeper. The one that the SS Snipers were on looked to be more in that 4:12 range.
4:12 is easy as fuck to walk around on. Anything above 6:12 gets my hackles up.
Does that make you want to shoot somebody?
Possibly the person telling him to go up there.
It was like your kids making up obvious lies rather than admit they made an obvious mistake.
The slope was so great they had to spray his remains off the top of it.
Wouldn’t want multiple forensic reports floating around. They might not agree.
Has anyone seen the ballistics report yet? How many shots fired, by whom, and when? Do they account for all the bullet sounds on the audio? Where did they hit and at what angle? Have they found all the bullets? How many shell casings on the roof? How many shots fired by the snipers? I assume this will come out in time, but we're not even hearing basic stuff yet.
How do we not have official accounts of even the simple things. As a very basic start, I want to know how many shots the guy got off and where they hit. That seems like an easy thing to have come out with after a quick forensic sweep to confirm video accounts
This is what happens when chicks are in charge.
That makes it hard for the administration to get their bullshit story straight.
Citizens using crowdsourcing are doing that.
That said, rando tries to deep six POTUS and a semi-random group of civvies ice him six shots in? 'Murica, fuck yeah! That's some

Men and women increasingly hold divergent political views:
- Men are trending conservative
- Women are trending liberal
[Link]
My simple explanation: Science (or at least psychology) proves that women (on average) have significantly more inclination to compassion (nanny) and more aversion to risk. Men like taking risks. Oddly enough, during mating season most women feel greater attraction to manly (risk-taking, or at least appearance of that) men.
How that aligns with political priorities and memes is interesting, and perhaps fundamental. But in a "typical" couple it might mean that their votes cancel out. Maybe that's why the parties ignore the middle, since only dual (D) couples (nanny-type male) or dual (R) couple (risk-inclined female) will cast votes that count.
Ok, I’ll do it:
This is why you can’t have chicks in charge.
They need to quit their bitchin’ and get back to the kitchen.
You're vile.

Does Switzerland point the way for California on gender ideology?
https://www.nationalreview.com/2024/07/a-new-california-law-threatens-swiss-style-family-separation-over-gender-transition/
“The teenage daughter of parents living in Geneva, Switzerland, has been separated from her family for over a year by court order after they objected to her gender “transition.” The case, currently unfolding in Swiss courts, centers on parents who responded to the mental-health struggles of their daughter, including gender dysphoria, with care and support instead of hormone-blockers and surgeries. The state responded by taking their daughter away.”
“Any ideology that operates in the shadows, unbeknownst to parents, should trigger massive alarm bells. The Swiss case shows how even actively involved parents can be completely shut out when powerful actors coalesce around the rabid promotion of gender ideology.”
“Following the parents’ objections to their daughter’s “transition,” the school liaised with the state child-welfare agency, convening a meeting in which the parents were accused of abuse for seeking alternative care for their daughter. The child-welfare agency would later tell the parents to “just accept that you have a son.” Since then, the daughter has been physically separated from her parents and remains under heavy influence in the government shelter where the court sent her to live.”
“No society can claim to be free if parents can lose their child solely for affirming biological reality. Secretive cases of influencing a child’s conception of his or her basic nature are happening with increasing frequency and severity, leading us all to question: Whose children are next? If, in a modern democratic society like Switzerland, parents can lose their children to the state simply for protecting them from gender ideology, no one is safe. The costs for parents, but above all for children, are too high. We must read the writing on the wall and act now to defend the rights of parents to care for their children before we lose them to the state.”
They don't have their own kids so they want to indoctrinate yours.
Yes, and while Liz Wolfe's blurb earlier in the week going against the CA law is appreciated, the relative silence about it on Reason is deafening, especially compared to all the virtual ink they spilled griping about Florida's law attempting to prevent such collusion with radical gender ideology by public school employees.
But pointing out selection bias is still bias means you're not a one true libertarian.
Cue Jeffy coming in to say none of this is really happening.
This is how they reproduce.

On what foundation is the present family, the bourgeois family, based?
On capital, on private gain. In its completely developed form, this family
exists only among the bourgeoisie. But this state of things finds its
complement in the practical absence of the family among the
proletarians, and in public prostitution.
The bourgeois family will vanish as a matter of course when its
complement vanishes, and both will vanish with the vanishing of capital.

Want to Dismantle Capitalism? Abolish the Family
Feminist theorist Sophie Lewis’s new book looks at how rethinking pregnancy and the idea of family as forms of labor is central to emancipatory politics.
Well, some communist societies found a use for children staying with their families. In East Germany and North Korea, the communist governments used the kids as spies to report on mom and dad.
Yes, the communal/commie radicals always get around the destroying the traditional, 500,000 thousand year-old family model. That includes not just the parent-child relation, but also the husband-wife model, even without kids. Leaders of all the commie cults eventually suggest rotation of sex partners. Of course some of them were just horndogs.
I saw Logan's Run recently. Besides not trusting (or allowing to live) anyone over 30, they also predicted dating apps. Instead of swiping left or right on his smart phone though, suitable females showed up at Logan's apartment on some kind of giant vending machine, and he rotated through the selections until he found one he liked.
But he did cringe when the wispy guy showed up as a choice. What a MAGA.
Alright, everybody who didn't have "Switzerland pounces!" on their political narrative betting stub needs to pay up.
I'm just gonna toss it out that this seems dangerous in a country where many people have a machine gun in the closet. Taking people's kids away to mutilate them is... well, that's a high risk behavior.
The primary excuse given for why kids must be allowed to transition if they want to is that they might commit suicide if you (i.e. the parents) don't let them. But the data don't back up the reason -- gender confused kids have a higher suicide rate than average, but it is higher whether they transition or not.
And one might think the tolerant left would be pushing for greater acceptance of girls choosing to act and dress in more traditionally masculine ways, and of boys choosing to act and dress in more traditionally feminine ways, rather than pushing for permanent surgical and hormonal changes to conform to outdated gender stereotypes.
Anyone who feels like they can truly support an 8 year old boy who wants to be a girls, or vice-versa, needs to tell us: would you also support the same child who wants to be an amputee or quadriplegic, because they feel that is truly who they are. If so, you are a sick fuck. If not, you are a political posturing asshole. Either way, STFU.

If a parent claims that their 6 year-old child has body dysmorphia and needs to have an arm amputated, and some doctor agrees, is that something we’re going to unquestioningly support of something we’re going to try to prevent.
I don’t think “we” should be actively supporting or “we” should be actively preventing anything. I think that “we” should instead make sure that:
– the child has a proper diagnosis, perhaps evaluated by a few doctors
– the proposed standard of care meets some rigorous medically sound standard
– all parties are very clearly informed and all very clearly consent
And then let the parents make the decision that they think is in the child’s best interests.
Now if *you* want to give your unsolicited advice to the parents, you are free to do so. If you want to propose your own alternative treatments, including the option of no treatment at all, you are free to do so.
Incidentally, I think this is exactly how it should work whenever parents are faced with a tough and difficult decision regarding their children. “We” should butt out and let the family have space to deal with their situation in their own way.
Yeah, when I was growing up the messaging was "It's ok for a boy to play with dolls. It's ok for a girl to be a tom-boy. It's ok to be gay."
Today, at the first hint of gender nonconformity, people want to start medical intervention. Which is somewhat ironic, since "gender is a social construct" and some sort of non-binary spectrum (so they say).

New polling data shows more than 30% of registered Democrats believe Donald Trump being shot was likely staged.
[Link]
Another study shows that 0% of registered democrats are human
I’ve been saying that for years. Soulless, unclean things.
Which is just about the stupidest thing imaginable.
What person is going to let you shoot at their head from 400 feet away in the hopes that they only nick your ear when you turn your head slightly for just one second during the trigger squeeze.
And the idea that he wasn’t shot at at all, is even dumber. He’s surrounded at every possible angle by over a thousand people who can see him closely, and thousands more who can see him reasonably well. Do they think that the Secret Service stabbed his ear when he went down, and shot three others just to make it real?
Mind you, these are the same cretins who think that there are 96 genders and that solar and wind can power the grid, so I guess that this is par for the course.
To think someone would trust an amateur to shoot you in the ear from 150 yards requires complete ignorance of firearms, so yeah, it fits the stereotype.
You wouldn't trust an expert marksman to just clip your ear from 150 yards.
Not even a Latina mother with a chankla?
They should replace axe throwing at bars with chancla tossing.
These are the same half-wits that think cops should just shoot people in the leg, like on TV.
I saw some comments asking why the SS snipers didn't try to wound the assassin. Who was still firing into the crowd. And probably doing so from a prone (or semi-prone) position.
Didn't we settle the issue of whether there was a shooter when people in the audience were, ahem, FUCKING SHOT.
People didn't see any spectators directly behind Trump get shot in the video.
Because the bullets were coming from his right, not from the front of the podium.
These are also the same people who will howl that you're a crazy conspiracy nut and belonging to Q-Anon if you say you're not sure the 2020 election was on the up and up.
The initial leftist comments were:
A. he had ketchup/pig's blood/paint and broke a packet on his ear
B. he hit his ear on the podium on the way down (no word on why he grabbed it first)
C. he was struck by an unknown object after some popping sounds were heard
D. he was hit by shards of glass from the teleprompter (apparently still moving at ballistic speeds)
The "staged" narrative was mostly discredited once people learned that 3 spectators had been hit, one fatally. Some left-wing conspiracy theorists continued to believe that those victims were either "crisis actors" (shades of Alex Jones), or shot by the deep state to make the fake ear wound more convincing. As Dave Barry says, "I'm not making this up."
Ah, see, the version I saw was that the shooter was real, and he shot the spectators, but he missed Trump so Trump could do the Hollywood Blood Squib thing. And apparently so dedicated to this ruse that he let himself get shot in the head to sell it.
Yeah, it seemed a bit excessive to me, too.
Can we call it the William Tell Conspiracy?
More than 30% believe there was an unarmed insurrection.
There's... a lot questionable about the events of Saturday
https://x.com/drawandstrike/status/1814047672346525887?t=UIo1qmlxvT6lRKJRPI0R_A&s=19
Out of all the rallies Trump held in the last year, CNN decided to carry exactly one of them live:
Saturday, July 13, 2024 in Butler, PA.
Interestingly enough, as the shooter - whoever that was - began firing, a NYT's photographer was in prime position to catch Trump's head exploding with a camera set to the unusual setting of 1/8000 & 30 FPS.
Which you would only use if you expected to be shooting something happening in a millisecond.
Turns out you can actually SEE a bullet in flight at those settings.
Isn't that amazing?
The NYT was there, but it was the Associated Press’ Pulitzer Prize winning Evan Vucci who took that iconic photo.
Pretty neat to have all those big time photographers happen to attend a whistle-stop campaign event in Nowhere, Pennsylvania. They were so lucky.
I suspect there was at least a LIHOP going on, but I don’t think that if the Dems/deep state/other were going to assassinate Trump or let it happen intentionally, they would be stupid enough to tell the NY Times and other news publications to make sure to be there to record the chaos. Why let more people in on a conspiracy (if it turns out it was a conspiracy)? I think this aspect is just a coincidence. Or, since it was the last rally before the convention and the campaign season was about to really swing into gear, CNN decided to broadcast the event, when they didn’t broadcast earlier Trump rallies.
I really hope the Republicans in Congress actually play hardball in their investigations and hearings and get to the bottom of what went down and why. But I have little faith in the GOPe to do that effectively.
Well, since they're the party of science, he clearly faked it. They always pack the soundest of judgement and knowledge, so who am I to doubt them.
The poll I saw was as high as 34%.
"NEW: 34 percent of registered Dems believe Trump staged his own assassination attempt on Saturday, according shock poll this week.
Democrats have a massive BlueAnon problem on their hands, and it's far greater than QAnon ever was for the right."
https://twitter.com/AndrewKerrNC/status/1814063261555331236
Many of them will vote for a pedophilic, narcissistic, corrupt, pants shitting dementia patient. Thirty percent isn’t great but isn’t horrible.
Is that the same 30% that thought you had a 95% chance of dying from COVID unless you wore 12 masks?
Still got the shovel!
Seriously, when I heard Trump had been shot, that the bullet had only grazed him, but that one person had been killed and another wounded my first thought was "They killed the Ethiopian Archbishop." and the movie hasn't stopped playing in my head since then.
Yeah, but who cares that much about killing some firefighter?
Was watching a man on the street ask lefty’s about the attempt and the number of people who called it staged or a false flag was astonishing. What I found disconcerting was not all of them where the typical long haired lefty looney, one guy looked like he could be your doctor or dentist just spouting conspiracy nonsense like you would expect from some hillbilly red neck, flat out saying Trump had Comperatory killed. And they call the republicans the party of conspiracy nuts.
I was watching a Megyn Kelly show (mein gott that woman looks great in a pair of sunglasses) and she was playing some clips from upper-eschelon Democrats suggesting some pretty wild conspiracy theories.
But conspiracies are alt-right, Fox News, MAGA fodder! Except for this one, Russian collusion to defeat Hillary, Covid mania, the Climatpocalypse, etc.
Wired, Politico, Intelligencer... do you guys ever venture outside leftist corporate media?
Yeah sometimes they go to salon, mother Jones, and Matt yglasias... Oh wait

“It is simply no longer possible to believe much of the clinical research that is published, or to rely on the judgment of trusted physicians or authoritative medical guidelines. I take no pleasure in this conclusion, which I reached slowly and reluctantly over my two decades as editor of The New England Journal of Medicine” (1).
More recently, Richard Horton, editor of The Lancet, wrote that “The case against science is straightforward: much of the scientific literature, perhaps half, may simply be untrue. Afflicted by studies with small sample sizes, tiny effects, invalid exploratory analyses, and flagrant conflicts of interest, together with an obsession for pursuing fashionable trends of dubious importance, science has taken a turn towards darkness” (2).
The first of these two commentaries on clinical research publications appeared in 2009, the second in April of this year. These statements are being taken seriously, coming as they do from the experiences of editors of two of the world’s most prestigious medical journals. The first article showed how the relationships between pharmaceutical companies and academic physicians at prestigious universities impacted certain drug-related publications and the marketing of prescription drugs. Potential conflicts of interest seemed to abound: millions of dollars in consulting and speaking fees to physicians who promoted specific drugs, public research dollars being used by a researcher to test a drug owned by a company in which the researcher held millions of dollars in shares, failure of university researchers to disclose income from drug companies, company subsidies to physician continuing education, publishing practice guidelines involving drugs in which the authors have a financial interest, using influential physicians to promote drugs for unapproved uses, bias in favor of a product coming from failure to publish negative results and repeated publication of positive results in different forms. The author, Marcia Angell, cited the case of a drug giant that had to agree to settle charges that it deliberately withheld evidence that its top-selling anti-depressant was ineffective and could be harmful to certain age groups (1).
I always wondered how dumb Russia was to push lysenkoism. I no longer wonder.
It's not as cut and dried as you think. Acquired characteristics can be inherited. Species do adapt quickly to changes in their environment through gene expression, much more quickly than random mutation would permit. There are fish that live in estuaries that modify their fin locations back and forth whether the water is predominantly salty or predominantly fresh.
Just for the record, there are no 'prestigious medical journals'.
That all went away during the Communist Chinese Virus propaganda campaign.
I used to subscribe to both Science and nature (with that stupid lower case name). I dropped Science because they published too many stupid inconsequential articles and you could not subscribe without also paying for their political operations. oh
*oof*
I used to read Scientific American, back when it focused on science.
At one time "Fortune" focused on business, and "The Economist" favored (mostly) free-market approaches, but I date myself.
Not to be too defensive of The Science or whatever, but much of the doom and gloom is part and parcel to a Protestants vs. Catholics or Sunnis vs. Shias rift in the respective political systems.
That is, "potential conflict of interests" is only an issue if you happen to believe in the sanctity of science and regulators and the inherent and/or pervasive evil of profits.
Not to say that the system isn't broken but that getting rid of the bootleggers and baptists and replacing them with Teatotalling Churchladies and Moonshine-sipping journalists doesn't fix it.
One researcher started reviewing medical studies and medical treatments. He found that the average American was on 6 prescriptions, and that while each one was moderately effective to effective in treating the targeted issue in isolation, when the prescriptions were combined they tended to cancel out the beneficial effects of the other treatments, while combining the risk from the side effects. He suggested that the single biggest step most people could do to improve their health would be to stop taking all of their prescriptions.
Analyzing other studies showed that not getting enough sunshine daily was worse for your health than smoking, yet most people are told to wear SPF-90 sunscreen, stay indoors and wear UV-blocking hats and clothes. Also, many people who detected cancer early and received medical or surgical treatment, who were then said to have "survived cancer" would have survived if the cancer had gone undetected, and would be better off for not having gone through the treatment.
He forgot to mention the outright partisan political content of many journals as a factor in the science lit shitification.
From the info for the upcoming American Geophysical Union annual meeting:
"Scientists, educators, policymakers, journalists and communicators attend AGU24 to better understand our planet and environment, opening pathways to discovery, opening greater awareness to address climate change, opening greater collaborations to lead to solutions and opening the fields and professions of science to a whole new age of justice equity, diversity, inclusion and belonging."
Some of the proposed sessions:
"ED015: Empowering a Diverse and Global Earth and Space Science Community through Education and Public Engagement"
"ED041 - Centering Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion in Bio-geoscience Curriculum"
Too many specialized and general "science" journals now have over, partisan ideology publications as standard content.
Twitter was getting desperate to attack Trump last night and looking like fools in the process.

Aaron Blake
@AaronBlake
People are noting that "Comperatore" was misspelled on the firefighter uniform on stage at the Republican National Convention -- missing the "a."
It appears that's just how his uniform is, judging by this 4-day-old photo.
That IS getting desperate.
Didn't they say that Comperatore's family loaned the uniform? Why would they fake something like that? If they did fake it, wouldn't they spell the name correctly?
Probably a limit on the number of characters they could fit on the uniform. Like "He Hate Me", although that was a compromise between font size and number of characters.
My last name has many letters. One job had it spelled incorrectly on the paycheck…for five years. The bank only questioned it once. It happens and it reasonable.
Recall seeing a PE seal with the last name misspelled.
I'm pretty high up at my company and my name has been wrong on the time card system for 20 years.
Is it "Jessie"?
Nope. Misspelled my last name. Happens all the time. My cell phone bill has been wrong for 25 years.
I get "Jessie" all the time. I guess I'm lucky to have a 3 letter last name that's hard to mess up.
Same. Even after telling them the i in Jessie comes from Jessica.
How do you misspell AZ?
Azzy
Damn it. I was going to post exactly that, but you beat me to it. lol
They spelled Ventura incorrectly? Wow.
There are rumors that Clinton Tyree from Carl Hiassan books was based on Ventura. And it is a great character.
I hope you get some royalties.
I have a credit card that’s spelled my last name wrong for 31 years.
Both first and last names are over ten characters. I have been truncated many, many times.
Though it's always really obvious when telemarketers call, because they don't know to use the short version. 😀
Naturally, the uniform was misspelled, which seems somehow fitting for a Republican Party that's heavy on the symbolism and showmanship but light on the details; still, Trump displayed a certain reverence and humility that's been, up until this point, barely detectable.
So you're telling me it wasn't the RNC who mispelled his name, but it was his own department and they were using his actual uniform? This wasn't Trump being sloppy and callous?
Odds of no update? 99%?
Odds of a stealth update? 1%?
Odds of an out in the open update and apology? 0%
Odds they are stupid partisan cunts? 100%

Three Snipers Were Inside Building Trump Rally Shooter Fired From, Reports Say

Snipers Saw Thomas Matthew Crooks Before Trump Shooting: Report
https://www.newsweek.com/secret-service-snipers-saw-matthew-crooks-before-trump-shooting-report-1925591
...Crooks then took out a rangefinder and the sniper who spotted him "radioed to the command post" about the suspect's actions. Crooks then disappeared again and returned to the building with a backpack. Secret Service snipers again alerted their command post about Crooks' actions.
The "command post" seemed scared to order the kill.
They had to let him get the first shot off. DOJ & DOT just sad that he missed, ruining the whole plan.
Seems like the "command post" had plenty of time to detain the shooter, or prevent Trump from taking the stage, or moving Trump off of the stage, or any number of other things that wouldn't have even had to involve killing the shooter.
So many errors.
This. But when law enforcement/SS(?) saw him with the range finder, they may not have seen or known he had a rifle. He walked through the metal detectors with the range finder, and they let him go, rather than detaining him for questioning for the duration of the event (and searching his car, where the rifle was at that time). Even unarmed, he could have been a spotter for someone else.
Seeing a guy with a rangefinder, which the "good-guy" snipers know by looks, and what it is used for, is beyond a red-flag. They should have confronted him, and postponed Trump's entrance.
Being buried with your family is a sign of white supremacy.
https://www.mediaite.com/tv/msnbc-host-calls-jd-vance-wanting-to-be-buried-in-family-plot-an-easter-egg-of-white-nationalism/
I hope MSNBC hosts stop taking whatever is making them this paranoid.
I hope that they take more of it between now and the election.
Yup. Our entire nation will be better off when the lat-left, including much commercial and social media, finishes their plane crash, and enough people finally say WTF.
Are you kidding? This is comedy gold.
Yesterday you have Joy Reid suggesting that Biden getting over a cold is the same thing as Trump surviving an assassination attempt.
Later on, Rachel Maddow declares all things Tolkien to be Ultra-MAGA'.
Earlier in the week, Mika and Joe Scarborough got taken off the air because they couldn't be trusted, and they threatened to quit.
Over on ABC, the ladies of the View weren't faring any better, as Whoopi chastised the RNC for 'Trying to humanize' Donald Trump. (Clearly, you're supposed to dehumanize him, idiots!) Joy Behar thinks that buying a modest amount of small-caliber ammunition should trigger a background check and/or red flag laws. Etc.
50 whole rounds!!!!!!
Which is like one box of ammo, maybe 10 minutes of range time.
If you spend 5 minutes setting up.
And have a beer;)
I often forget to bring pre-loaded magazines, so I end up having to reload on-site. Chews up a few minutes. Plus, it's good thing, so I don't blow through the day's allotment of ammo before my half-hour of paid range time is done and feel like I wished they sold range time in 15 minute intervals.
That's what I thought when the WSJ reporter wrote "dozens of rounds". I thought "Shit, that's just one box and would not last long at the range."
I am also always amused when people also freak out about some "gun nut" who has "hundreds of rounds" stashed in their bunker. Even some people who dislike firearms do want users to have "training" and be competent. How many sessions at the range does it take to burn through 500 rounds?
Multiple range sessions for 500 rounds? My wife and I usually go through about 200 an hour at a casual pace with handguns. I'm not even that interested in guns, but they'd consider me a nut with an arsenal because of the few firearms and a few thousand rounds
I have laughed any number of times over how many lefty drawers would be filled if I ever ended up in one of those "arsenal" stories.
"He had 37 firearms and over 60,000 rounds of ammo. And he was shot over a late automated moving violation ticket that it turns out had been sent to the wrong address, but look at how dangerous he was!"
Whoopie defended Joe shitting his pants by saying she shit her pants all the time.
Also that she would 'stand behind him' if he did. Not the location I would choose.
So she can see his hands.
Joy Behar thinks that buying a modest amount of small-caliber ammunition should trigger a background check and/or red flag laws.
She was particularly concerned when a *white* man buys that modest amount of ammunition.
If you don't inject race and other woke factors into the unhinged rants on the View, they don't give you your pride month bonuses.
They should check with their doctors before they suddenly stop taking those types of medications. They could go from paranoid to delusional, and become dangerous.
Belonging to the party of the Klan isn’t white supremacy, but you and your Indian wife and half Indian kids being buried in the family plot is.
You couldn’t invent the modern day Democratic Party in literature 60 years ago without everyone saying that the premise is too far fetched.
Alex Wagner was crying about his white nationalism for wanting to be buried in the family plot.
https://reason.com/2024/07/18/what-the-media-hate-about-j-d-vance/?comments=true#comments
MSNBC's Alex Wagner upped the ante, referring to Vance's desire to be buried in his family plot in Kentucky as "Easter eggs of white nationalism."
"It reveals someone who believes that the history that the family should inherit, and indeed the history that should be determinative in the story of the Vance family, is the history of the eastern Kentucky Vances and not the Vances from San Diego, which is where his wife is from and where her Indian parents are from," she said.
Note to Wagner: her family in San Diego are not Vances.
Vance's "better half" seems quite accomplished and would likely be a wonderful Second Lady.
Wikipedia:
Usha Chilukuri was born in San Diego to Telugu-speaking Indian immigrants. She graduated from Mt. Carmel High School in 2003, where she performed in the marching band.[5][6] Her parents hail from a village near Pamarru in the Krishna district of Andhra Pradesh, India, and migrated to the U.S. in the 1980s.[7][8] Her father, Radhakrishna "Krish", a mechanical engineering graduate from IIT Madras,[9] is a lecturer at San Diego State University's Department of Aerospace Engineering, while her mother, Lakshmi, is a marine molecular biologist and biochemist, and Provost of Sixth College at the University of California, San Diego. She has one sister.[10][11][7]
Vance was raised in San Diego's upper-middle-class Rancho Peñasquitos suburb.[12] Childhood friends described her as a "leader" and a "bookworm."[13] She attended Yale University, graduating summa cum laude with a bachelor's degree in history, with membership in Phi Beta Kappa. She then attended Clare College, Cambridge, in England, as a Gates Cambridge Scholar, receiving a Master of Philosophy in early modern history in 2010.[14] In 2013, she graduated Juris Doctor at Yale Law School, where she was the Executive Development Editor of the Yale Law Journal and Managing Editor of the Yale Journal of Law & Technology.[15][16][17] During her time at Yale, she also taught American history as a Yale-China Teaching Fellow at Sun Yat-sen University in Guangzhou, China.
I think she'll make a wonderful First Lady as well.
Impressive credentials.
It's rather amazing how much better the actual news reporting from the Babylon Bee is while pumping satire. They get more stories right, and they are certainly more aligned with real people. Like Mark Cuban, I'm so tired of my privelege that I'm about to start hunting for a burial plot as far away from my family as possible.
I better tell my buddy whose (very, very lefty) dad just died and was buried near his wife's parents, since he predeceased her. Actually, I'm not going to do that, because I love my buddy and his parents were like family to me and it's not worth being an asshole just for a joke.

Europe is especially bad at ignoring the real crime and focusing on the wrong things when immigrants are the perpetrators.
Be careful not to fall into hours of wikipedia rabbit hole:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rotherham_child_sexual_exploitation_scandal
The failure to address the abuse was attributed to a combination of factors revolving around race, class, religion and gender—fear that the perpetrators' ethnicity would trigger allegations of racism; contemptuous and sexist attitudes toward the mostly working-class victims; lack of a child-centred focus; a desire to protect the town's reputation; and lack of training and resources.
It's one of the longest wikipedia pages I've ever seen. And the bottom of it points to the same story over and over again in different places.

A political establishment is a caste of mutually known persons organized informally for the purpose of wielding power. Every establishment must meet two simple requirements. There must be an unyielding hierarchy with a powerful boss at the top. In addition, every member must be bound to a set of rules so ironclad that any violator is immediately cast off to the wilderness.
...Nothing like this had been seen before. For the Democrats in power to spin the truth was predictable. For the institutions of information and knowledge to debase themselves so completely on behalf of a political nonentity added to their crisis of authority by precipitating a depressing meltdown of integrity.
An alternate universe was invented and imposed on the American public. It was far more seamless and glimmering than reality. As in the Greek fable, the creators fell in love with their creation. Establishment elites moved their minds permanently to Bidenworld, where the boss was an energetic leader and his policies were always successful. Biden himself, one suspects, fused with his towering replica. The rest of us were told to ignore the evidence of our eyes and salute.
Biden’s actual appearances generated uncertainty and unease, but these were carefully staged and kept to a minimum. Here was the truth of the matter: Bidenworld functioned better without Biden. He was, in fact, its greatest obstacle, and would turn out to be the instrument of its destruction.
...Why did the president’s people change their minds and challenge Trump to a debate? The only explanation I can think of is that they had migrated intellectually to the fantasy universe. They had come to believe their own comforting lies. Truth had become the habitual enemy, something to shun in horror—so they dreamed they could preserve Bidenworld by producing the real Biden.
The debate was a transcendental event, far more significant than anything that was said in it. While Biden gargled and mumbled, a ripping noise could be heard by those who listened closely, a sound like the rending of a veil, as the whole Gothic fortress of fantasies disintegrated, the replica vanished like a ghost and 100 million Americans could suddenly behold the cruel struggles of a man tormented by a dying body and a dying mind. The shock of what we saw still lingers, not because it was surprising but rather because it was so predictable and consistent with what we already knew: It was truth, and we have grown used to lies. We had witnessed, in real time, the unraveling of a colossal fraud and the end of Biden’s political life.
Yeah, when Brandon announced he was running for re-election, they couldn't contradict him in public.
It's amazing how many people are willing to pull the lever for team D no matter who is on it. If you don't like the other side, that's fine, but to be willing to throw away any sense of skepticism to trust that whatever they give you is the right choice is what leads them to where they are now. These are absolutely not the people we need in charge.
""It’s amazing how many people are willing to pull the lever for team D no matter who is on it.""
While claiming it's unethical for the other side to do that.
Or some faction without enough influence on Biden pushed to let him debate, knowing he would fall flat on his face, figuratively if not literally, hoping they would get their preferred replacement candidate on the ballot.
Not just him...

The media and the Democratic Party have spent eight years calling Trump a Nazi who poses an existential threat to the nation
They were trying to get Trump killed, and now they want to play the victim
[Link]
And even if it doesn't get him killed, if Trump wins the election (which seems more and more likely), what do all the true believer TDS cases do then? They've kind of painted themselves into a corner with the rhetoric. I expect lots of rioting and probably worse after the election if Trump wins.
It got Corey Comperatore killed
At least by the standards they use to blame Trump for the Capitol riot.
They should be MAiD to move to Canada this time.

Stop with the fascist rhetoric. You mean mostly peaceful protests.
Perhaps their heads will explode like the Martians in Mars Attacks.

Understand how fragile the world is: A bug in an update to a security product used by major companies worldwide has grounded flights, shut down banks, hotels, TV stations, and brought many other businesses to a halt around the globe this morning.
All of these companies use and depend on this one product. And it took them all down.
Understand where we are.
Also, I get that it's fun to think everything is a cyberattack. It's not. You're living the movie Brazil: Everything's fragile, everything's brittle, and now everything's falling apart. We have a crisis of competency coupled with systems so complex no one can understand them.

But no smart phones or jet trips to the beach on vacation. Come to think of it, no vacations.
To think, one day it will be all digital currency.
Luckily, the software that will handle your social credit score to let you leave your apt building/pod will never have issues like this.
I'll see if i can find it, but early in my career I read a book from a Boeing Engineer who went over all the designed redundancies built into the original 737. It was done to build robustness and add multiple safety paths if problems occurred. Society has largely gone away from this principle.
I don’t know, that sounds pretty patriarchal.
Almost nothing is built to the standards (supposedly) used for aircraft manufacturing, as it makes things cost maybe 50-100x and take so very much longer to develop than "normal". For avionics software, there is DO-178C and for avionics computing hardware there is DO-254. Professional engineers follow very careful development processes, with arduous requirements analysis and traceability and requiring 100% test coverage.
Websites and mass-produced commercial software are usually built by "agile" methods focusing more on "getting something out the door" and "we can fix it later if it's wrong". End users are the testers.
The group of people that war gamed an internet outage did a dry run of an internet outage
What's with the worldwide rollout? No staged deployment for the upgrade? No testing on a variety of real world systems? The worst part is the update was in cybersecurity software.
I concur, this was an unimaginable failure in QC testing.
I do think Trump could get us in a middle east war before Biden.

I seem to remember Ron Reagan made a similar deal with Iran and it worked out pretty well.
Drugs, weapons and Central America?
Semi-joking aside.
Hamas is not Iran. Iran is a country with assets and worries that come with having a country. Hamas kidnaps people and uses them as human shields.
One of the things about Trump sending troops if did is that it would be justifiable. Hamas deserves it.
That kind of talk may steal the jewish vote from the dems. Expect an indictment from James for theft.

Pier building didn't go over so well.
Currently it seems our military can't even build a pier.
Not your grandfather's Seabees.
Army, not Seabees. Also, it's regular Navy who do this for the Navy, Seabees provide camp support.
But yeah, today’s Navy likely wouldn’t do much better – to be fair, there were too many operational constraints (no shore support, not enough sea support) to do the job properly.
I used to operate these piers for the Navy – normally you’d have pulled the pier from the shore and moved is somewhere safe – but there’s no place to take it there.
OK, but which branch will win the 2024 Diversity Games?

I didn’t watch it after having an internal debate over the following options: Would I a.) care to listen to a bunch of bullshit lies all night or b.) massage my eyeball with a soldering iron. So I went with option c.) watching Love Island. Oh, that Leah.
Being blissfully ignorant I’d like to poll the audience, ok? On a scale of 1 to 10 how lame was it? 1 being lame, 5 being WABG, it was really lame, 8. Being self hating gays checking their GRINDR profiles during Dear Leader’s speech and 10 being so fucking lame it’s kind of exploring the left/right lame/cool horseshoe theory where it’s so lame it’s oddly cool.
What the fuck are you babbling about?
Love Island. Why?
Oh and how Tucker Carlson— the “journalist”— ended up on a prime time speaking spot at the RNC.
I can see why you resent Tucker Carlson.
He gaslit the entire country about Biden's mental fitness - even calling this 81 year old version "the best Biden ever" - which tricked Democrats into a false sense of security ...... until that disastrous debate.
Oops! I forgot. Tucker Carlson and Faux News didn't do that to your party. Joe Scarborough and MSNBC did. 🙁
What kind of journalist accepts a prime time speaking slot at the RNC? I know, I know… the same kind of journalist that takes a brave stand by monetizing his bullshit on a media platform owned by the richest person in the world. He’s underexposed I tell ya— just like every other right-winger with millions of subscribers.
I don’t listen to the media so I never listened to MSNBC. Like many Americans I knew the choice was between an Alzheimer’s patient and Donald Trump so I went with option A. Funny, now that the choice is between Donald Trump and a shambling corpse, DJT is still locked in a close race. Maybe I’m ol’ skool, but I’m sticking with shambling corpse. Better than kiddie-fiddling rapist scumbag.
The same kind of journalist that accepts a prime time speaking slot at the DNC?
Would you like a list of them? This will take a very long time.
Also, Tucker hasn't been a journalist in 20 years. He's been a political commentator.
Dude sounds like he hasn't been around long enough to have any history of how politics works.
""Also, Tucker hasn’t been a journalist in 20 years. He’s been a political commentator.""
Yeah, they are all political commentators, have been for decades.
That’s funny. He certainly called himself a journalist when he was nodding along with Putin’s theories about how Poland started WW2.
But yeah, you’re right. No one should take his fucking bullshit seriously. He’s just another right-wing fascist who fetishizes and kowtows to power. I’m sorry I called him a journalist. You were right.
He’s just another right-wing fascist who fetishizes and kowtows to power.
Joe Scarborough, Don Lemon, Michelle Goldberg, Paul Krugman, David French, Tom Friedman, Joy Reid, Ross Douthat, Gail Collins, Jessica Valenti, Anna Holmes, Maggie Haberman, Ezra Klein, Mr. CNN Potatohead and Rachel Maddow, etc, aren't right-wing, are they?
But they are fascists. Which is leftist.
Fascism is left wing. Like you.
"Maybe I’m ol’ skool, but I’m sticking with shambling corpse."
That's because you're an imbecilic pile of lefty shit.
"Better than kiddie-fiddling rapist scumbag."
Clinton isn't running.
Biden is running, at least for now, though.
Unless you (Biden guy/SPB2) think he would shower with his ten year old daughter just to conserve water.
It is kind of a bad look.
"I'm the only objective journalist out there. All the others are on the payroll of the left, just regurgitating the narrative when it is handed to them with the DNC talking points."
Also:
"Hey, I'm speaking at the RNC."
Seems "Biden Guy" is just as agitated and incoherent as the other progressives here since Dementia Joe's debate meltdown. 🙁
He's the same idiot who spoof's my nick.
Lol, nope. And you freely gave your name up to posture about 5/31.
You’re spoofing my nickname.
Edit: I'm firmly on the right; I'm just a RINO.
Fuck off, Jeff.
You fucked up already by using the same account as your Biden Guy one to spoof me. The mute button doesn't lie.
Thanks; now I know which is which.
Wait, Biden Guy is chemjeff, not SPB2?
I am not spoofing anyone.
Hard to tell, given what a shitweasel liar you are. GTFO.
Yeah. He got really angry when I reposted the bears in trunks link.
Bears in trunks? What is this?
Jeffy was trying to play ‘bears’ with a little boy and get in his trunks.
Well, see, just when the dingers meme was starting to lose steam, Jeff came along and…..
Actually I don’t know if that timeline is accurate. I have no idea what’s going on.
Whichever one of our faggot leftists you are, cut the shit.
Biden Guy is a reprise of a bad parody account. He/She/They/Them/OrificeNeutral is the American Conservative account of years back. I can't remember the name but the shtick was 'I'm a gay black conservative who supports Caitlin Jenner and votes ... blah blah blah.'
The account was lame and unfunny in that persona and other iterations. It is lame and unfunny in this version too. Same bad takes. Weak presentation.
If it's a sock, it's a smelly one.
FOAD, steaming pile of shit.
So I went with option c.) watching Love Island. Oh, that Leah.
I have to admit, I thought you were a troll, and now you say you watch Love Island. So either you're the best troll, better than OBL, or you're legit a Biden voter.
Being blissfully ignorant...
This was wholly unnecessary exposition. Your ignorance is widely recognized.

"The Nantucket environmental disaster should serve as a wake-up call to anyone still considering offshore wind as a viable option for our shores," said Congressman Van Drew. "We are watching in real-time the devastating toll of offshore wind and how it will affect our communities. These turbines contain hazardous lubricants and chemicals that could leak into our beautiful ocean waters, threatening marine life and coastal ecosystems. Imagine the aftermath of a storm like Superstorm Sandy, tearing apart these turbines and spreading their toxic contents and jagged fiberglass across our shores—an environmental disaster waiting to happen. Yet despite these glaring risks, the Biden Administration and Governor Murphy seem determined to turn our oceans into dumping grounds for dangerous offshore debris. These reckless projects must be halted immediately."
Background:
Earlier this week, the federal government ordered Vineyard Wind, the operator of the wind farm, to suspend operations after a wind turbine blade, equivalent in length to a football field, broke apart, scattered into pieces, and fell into the water. This incident has led to beach closures as thousands of dangerous fiberglass fragments wash ashore, posing a serious threat to both maritime navigation and local marine life.
But wind turbines are renewable.
It appears in addition to bugs, menus of the future will have gummy bears made from recycled wind turbines.
https://www.greenmatters.com/renewables/wind-turbine-blade-recycling-gummy-bears
JFC. Even my bad jokes are real. Can't keep up with this shit.
Now you understand how The Babylon Bee feels every day!
Need to figure out a way to strain out the feather fragments first.
Eventually, the leftist tree-huggers will start taking down windmills and solar farms to save the environment, just like they are doing now with dams and nuclear plants, even though they are much cleaner than coal or oil fired power plants.
Of all the "renewables" wind has to be the biggest waste of resources. What a fucking racket.
I really wish they would have gotten Joe's vision of the Gulf of Mexico producing all the windpower we'll ever need accomplished. One storm season, and there would be a gulf full of destruction. It would have been a sight to behold.
There are a few places where it can be done economically. But even there, the generation is unreliable. And not many commercial and residential customers want "sometimes" power.
Doctors Strange: Surkular Eekonomee!
Mordoconomists: The bill always comes due.
You know what other resource can be used over and over again?
Water. Which is why there will never be a "water shortage."
At some point you may have to clean it or pump it or desalinate it, but those technologies are well understood already.
Yeah, but the problem with hydro is that reservoirs behind dams always fill up with sediment. If too quickly then the dam and generators become useless.
He was supposed to announce he WASN'T running for re-election six months ago! That was what everyone was expecting.
What happened?
Trump was supposed to be in a federal penitentiary 6 months ago?
Their main plan has failed. Now they have nothing.
Well I suppose squirming in place is something.
Plan B(a) has also failed. Dude missed. I am sure they will try again.
Plan B? Come on man! They blew through that during his first term. I'm pretty sure they are in the double characters now
What if they had a protest and nobody came?
The Democrats Aren’t Even Trying
They’re acting as if they already lost the election.
https://web.archive.org/web/20240718233057/https://www.theatlantic.com/politics/archive/2024/07/democrats-protest-republican-convention/679105/
Well, the Democrats are now the party of victimhood (with college degrees to prove it) and nihilism.
They’re acting as if they already lost the election.
That's because they have.
“oddly, claiming the next RNC will be hosted in Venezuela (?) if Democrats try to steal this election and the country descends into political violence.”
That’s not odd at all. It’s been increasingly North Venezuela for the last four years.
The thing everyone needs to remember is that the Democrats still own legacy media and ballot harvesting.
No matter how united Republicans are, how untethered the Dems are, and how horrible Democrat policies over last 4 years have been, scoring an Republican win will still be a challenge.
There seems to be a growing resignation to the fact that Trump is poised for a landslide electoral college victory and a popular vote win. Despite all of the irregularities in 2020 the pre election polling was close enough that a Biden win was at least plausible. That is not the case this time and, barring another manufactured national emergency, they won't be able hide behind the pandemic bullshit. If Biden drops out the Democrats have very little time left to create an illusion of support for whoever they put at the top of the ticket. It's been estimated that Trump will need at least 20 million additional votes to overwhelm the fraud. Well within the realm of possibility but still a heavy lift.
If Biden drops out the Democrats have very little time left to create an illusion of support for whoever they put at the top of the ticket.
The illusion doesn't even matter any more, they no longer give a shit about maintaining it. If Trump gets 200 million votes, then they will get 400 million. And then the "principled conservative" GOPe like McConnell, Cheney and Romney will shit on everyone who says the election was stolen.
They will never ever ever let Trump be president again.
Another theory is they'll let him win this one because they know the economy will collapse in the next 4 years and he'll get the blame.
both of these is unfalsifiable – but if they go with the latter i’d laugh that it would go the way of all the other ways they’ve tried to game Trumps run…. it will all go down the drain due to some horseshoe luck events or such.
I dont think it will be hard for them to create the illusion of support.
That they will – and be relatively successful at it is a given, given that then entire legacy media is in bed with them. the message will revolve around the ‘new surging enthusiasm’ for a hot young new candidate [which obviously wont be Kamala]. It will be the proverbial wall of sound messaging combined with slagging Trump and Vance.
If it ends up with Kamala then I’d say they went for the – economy will tank – option and be subject to Trumps policies [and his crazy luck] actually avoiding that scenario.
That makes sense re the Kamala nomination. The word salad commercials will be epic.
See you dumb faggot, I'm even in complete agreement with you on this point.
That's why I keep calling trump supporters cowards. They think the usss tried to assassinate him. Know they'll be cheated and spend ALL day online insulting two retards waiting for the system to work.
Good luck with that.
And you're fucking Canadian. Just shut the fuck up and kiss chubby's sponsored ass some more.
Fuck off, Jeff.
If Biden drops out, someone in Pennsylvania is going to have shred all those boxes of pre-marked Biden ballots before anyone finds them.
Shred? No way! They'll save 'em for Biden '28.
Nevada judge just ruled ballots can continue to be recieved days after election day.
CNN can now call Nevada for Biden.
Not until they take a break at 3am so everyone can rest up and go back to counting.
Ignore the trucks pulling up to the loading dock at 2am.
If you use an arbitrary cutoff like the end of the election day, how will they know how many ballots they need to win? Democracy won’t defend itself.
THIS
THIS is exactly what Trump doesn't do, and why so many people trust him. He says what he wants, himself, none of the sneaky two-faced crap of aides "leaking" so-called "private" remarks. It doesn't mean Trump is honest, it means you know what he means and wants and don't have to sort through layers of "I know what he really means, but does he know that I know?"
There probably aren't a dozen politicians in the entire country who can recognize the distinction, or even admit such a distinction is possible. That's where the TDS comes from.
why so many people trust him.
Yeah, right. He’s so trusted even his VP doesn’t plan on voting for him. LOL… Dear Leader supporters are so fucking gullible. I painted my shoes with Dear Leader’s sweet ass. I’ll sell them to you for $399.99.
You mean the one that the GOPe demanded he take, who tried to kneecap him during his whole first term? That guy?
That's probably spb, not Jeff or sarc. Definitely not me.
Fuck off, Jeff. Putting one of us on mute shows who is real or not.
That motherfucker is STILL spoofing your handle?
Hahahahahahahahahahaha how fucking pathetic.
Must have gotten fired again, and has to fill his time online.
FOAD, asshole.
Once one understands how much of a machine the Democratic party is, you almost have to admire its sophistication and 11-d intrigues.
Meanwhile, the henchmen of former President Barack Obama have been shit-talking Biden, while Obama himself has remained mighty quiet…
LOL, that was fire Good Liz

We were proud to be a Gold Partner of
@brightnetwork
's Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Belonging Panel. Our team shared their career journeys and tips on how we are creating an equitable and inclusive workplace for all.
Oh here it is, the new narrative that is emerging. Every screw-up by someone somewhere is to be blamed on DEI somehow. First the Secret Service, now the CrowdStrike software glitch.
Well, except for the screw-ups by the people on our team anyway. Those were honest accidents due to circumstances beyond anyone's control and should anyone really deserve to be held accountable anyway?
The Secret Service thing is no honest accident. It's flat out incompetence. DEI causing the problems? I don't know. I will be interested to see if DEI becomes the reason people are not fired for that incompetence.
It's hardly new. Affirmative action has been around for a long time and has similar problems. Even if failures cannot be directly connected to such policies, there will always be questions about competency when other factors besides ability to do the job are used in hiring.
Yes, DEI must be mocked and destroyed by *looks at Sam Harris video* any means necessary. Anything is justified in keeping DEI away from the levers of power.
You forgot Boeing pedo.
That fully depends on if the people that screw up on the right were hired for their “diversity” or their ability.
But I’m sure you knew that.
What exactly is it about pathetic insincere pandering that appeals to gullible morons like you, Jeff?
Everyone was equally stranded.
Incandescent former MSNBC star calls on CNN to fire one of its top analysts, Van Jones, for praising Trump campaign while criticizing Biden
https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-13651493/msnbc-star-keith-olbermann-fire-van-jones-cnn-trump-biden.html
Olbermann is a left-wing Jesse lol
Talks about the what, not the who.
How sarc?
He's just here to talk about ideas.
Van Jones is in trouble for stating the obvious.
I'm pretty sure Sqlrsy and Olbermann are the same person.
That actually makes sense. haha
Incandescent? A lot of viewers may want to run electricity through him and watch him glow, but that's not the word I would used to describe Olbermann.
Am I supposed to read the words "dissident right" and immediately know what that means?
Yeah! I mean... uh... No!
Personally, I'm fine with Liz floundering around for lower case terms for "not GOPe" or "not NeoCons". Even if only to avoid ascribing everything to Trump. More honest, reasonable, and useful than the "The organization known as Antifa is really just more of an idea." bullshit.
I'm 10 minutes into wondering whether to google it. does anyone know?
I clicked the linked tweet where the term came from in hoping it, or perhaps the conversation of replies to that tweet, could explain what the person saying it meant. But the author of this article seemed to immediately understand it meant something whereas to me it's just "term for republicans." I don't even know if it means MAGA or NeoCon or Alt-Right or Globohomo. I have no idea, and I don't really know JD Vance well enough to just extrapolate from what I know of him to ascribe attributes to a movement.
thanks for the research.
The mainstream GOP are the Democrats loyal opposition - their job is to bitch but never accomplish anything while collecting fat campaign contributions.
The 'dissident right's are the actual sorta conservatives who aren't strictly in the libertarian wing of the party.
I thought the job of the mainstream GOP was to adopt the Democrats' tax and spending plans and societal changes once they were implemented, and make defending them the "conservative" position, while the Democrats move further toward embracing communism and satanism.
With friends like that...
EU Parliament Refuses To Condemn Trump Assassination Attempt
https://rmx.news/article/eu-parliament-refuses-to-condemn-trump-assassination-attempt-majority-of-parties-reject-orban-backed-patriots-for-europe-groups-resolution-against-political-violence/
The headline is a bit of a “Trump falls down.” underselling.
I don’t keep my finger on the pulse of EU Parliament but a “WTF? Why would I say anything one way or the other.” seems not entirely inapt.
What it should say is something more like “Parliament Refuses European Political Activist Group Asking To Condemn Political Violence In Its Own Midst, At Home, And Abroad”
I certainly agree that it’s bad that they won’t renounce violence because of Trump but considering that, apparently, they have a violent political terrorist with immunity in their midst, TDS seems to be the least insane part of the story.
Oh I agree. Europe has gone stark raving mad.
Didn't Biden send his condolences to Raisi?
I think that if the US can express sympathy towards the Iranian people for the loss of their beloved bloody tyrant responsible for murdering tens of thousands of them, the EU parliament could pretend to be sorry Trump didn't die.
the EU parliament could pretend to be sorry Trump didn’t die.
You misunderstand. I certainly agree that *leaders* within the EU should/could/would express empathetic sentiments. That said, remember how Trump ‘failed to condemn the violence in Charlottesville’?
However much you hate the media, you don’t hate them enough.
So, I’m sure most people here absolutely loved the speech last night and jerked off a few times onto their favorite images of Dear Leader, especially when he was going on and on about the illegal immigrants being so horrible.
But, for the sane people, this is what I noted:
– First, the beginning of the speech where he talked about his personal experience with the assassination attempt, I actually agree with Dave Smith above that it really was successful at humanizing him. He seemed to sound like an old grampa telling a story from ‘back in the day’ rather than a politician.
But, for the rest of the speech:
– He did not mention out-of-control spending at all.
– He did not mention any of the COVID authoritarianism, lockdowns and mandates, at all.
– He claimed that he would reduce the debt, via cutting taxes and the magic growth fairy. This is not a policy, it is a wish.
– He outright bragged about circumventing Congress last time for building the wall in 2018. So much for a guy who shows respect for the law.
– He made some insane promises, like he was going to cure cancer and Alzheimer’s, or that on DAY ONE he was going to get rid of inflation and lower everyone’s prices. There is absolutely no way he can do these things.
– And then of course there’s the 20+ minutes he ranted and raved about illegal immigration. It is abundantly clear now, after that speech, that Trump really does regard illegal immigrants *as a group* as being violent thugs. He didn’t even throw in a throwaway line like ‘but some are good people’. They might as well all be murderers and rapists, every single one. And that is how they are going to persuade everyone to go along with MASS DEPORTATIONS, by playing on your fears. The Team Red strategists are not stupid, they understand, even if Trump doesn't, that they are not ALL murderers and rapists, and mass deportations would involve taking families who have been here in some cases for over a decade, with lives that they have built for themselves, and forcibly uprooting them and sending them away. And to most people that sounds cruel. So the way they can get people to approve of doing something like that, is to trick them into thinking “well AKSHUALLY, they are a bunch of murderers and rapists!” So get ready for an influx of articles from Jesse et al. pushing in your face every single instance of any bad behavior by any illegal immigrant and demanding that “something be done” about all of them because of the actions of a few.
Trump's ramblings included a claim he would cure cancer (which in Trump's world means stealing pediatric cancer charity funds), eradicate AIDS, and maybe get rid of heart disease, arthritis, hemorrhoids, and the common cold, too.
The slack-jaws couldn't get enough.
Trump, like any successful peddler of shoddy goods, knows his gullible, downscale, uninformed target audience with exquisite precision.
It is (D)ifferent when your lefty boos do it.
I am still waiting on that $2500 Obamacare was going to save me, and the seas to stop rising.
Yeah but if you liked your doctor you could keep your doctor. Right? Right!?
FOAD, bigoted asshole.
Good thing Trump does not have to cure Cancer as PinochiJoe already has that claim in the books.
Joe also lowered the cost of insulin for all. After raising it first, of course, via executive edict.
"" And that is how they are going to persuade everyone to go along with MASS DEPORTATIONS,""
Give the people what they want?
https://news.yahoo.com/news/cbs-margaret-brennan-shocked-most-131311516.html
Youre xenophobic if you're against giving illegals welfare or letting them rape minors.
Because they have been sold on the idea that "illegal immigrant" = " violent thug".
Or that illegal immigrant = illegal.
vs. "additional crime" = "no big deal"
You don't think those who jumped through the hoops and paid their lawyers are opposed to allowing others to walk across the border and get free housing in a hotel?
You don't think people of color who have been asking, and asking for help are failing to notice how city governments are moving earth for illegal immigrants in way they have never done for them?
Why tunnel vision on just violent thugs?
Why tunnel vision on just violent thugs?
Why don't you ask Trump and his team? He spent a huge portion of his speech going on and on about how terrible and vicious and violent the illegal immigrants were, even going so far as to bizarrely claim that some of them were cannibals a la Hannibal Lecter.
I’m talking about the people who you claim were sold on it.
The 62% who agrees.
I am sure many people have many reasons for why they support mass deportations. I am talking about why that 62% figure is higher now than it was in the past, and that is because of Team Red's deliberate strategy to paint illegal immigrants as violent thugs and to stoke fear.
"" and that is because of Team Red’s deliberate strategy to paint illegal immigrants as violent thugs and to stoke fear."
How would really know that? Did you take a poll?
The mayors of Chicago and NYC know they live in MAGA country.
You see, chemjeff has a psychic ability to read the minds of his political opponents, and he just happens to glean their evil, bigoted, racist, homophobic motivations for all of their plans. Somehow it doesn't work when he tries to read the minds of politicians he supports, like Biden and Chase, and their supporters. I guess all of their motivations are purely good.
But chemjeff certainly doesn't have a team, and that is not the reason he finds the worst motivations for his opponents and the best motivations for those he supports. It's just a coincidence that it plays out that way--EVERY SINGLE TIME.
That can be the only explination. Not that people are seeing it everyday in their communities. That would be unpossible.
Yeah, no.
“And that is how they are going to persuade everyone to go along with MASS DEPORTATIONS, by playing on your fears.”
Or adhering to the law, Lying Jeffy.
How about they just limit deportation to everyone who broke immigration laws, Jeff. Does that sound fair?
Oh cut the crap. This argument, at least from a Team Red and Team Blue perspective, has moved on from policy and facts and reason and logic, to that of outrage and emotional manipulation.
Team Blue sees them as victims who deserve our compassion.
Team Red sees them as violent thugs who deserve our scorn.
And you, and Jesse, and the other Team Red shills dutifully comply by flooding the zone with every story that you can find of illegal immigrants behaving badly.
Because, in this post-modernist world that we live in, you know that the argument will be won by the team which has more people who adopt their version of socially-constructed 'reality'.
>>Team Blue sees them as victims who deserve our compassion.
this is such utter bullshit it demands highlight.
Wasn't jeff just screaming about emotional arguments... checks notes... yesterday?
It is? You mean, there isn't a narrative on the left which tends to view migrants as victims of 'structural racism', colonialism, patriarchy, economic inequality, and all of these structural forces beyond their control, and that is why they deserve to be here?
only narrative to the people who matter on the left is We Can Replace Them
That’s a neat trick, telling people to “come on in, we know most of your asylum claims are bullshit, but the door’s wide open.” Then browbeating people for not wanting to support them or wanting to send them back. Totes compassionate.
Its that kind of rank dishonesty that makes Lying Jeffy, Lying Jeffy.
Are you calling him the heavy on this?
Already forgot Biden's Apollo Program to cure cancer, did you?
https://www.cnn.com/videos/politics/2019/06/12/joe-biden-cure-cancer-campaign-richmond-bolduan-sot-ath-vpx.cnn
What about illegal immigrants who may have jerked off onto the victim during a gang rape, who was given virtually no punishment BECAUSE they were immigrants, who couldn't be expected to behave according to their new home's rules that say "rape is bad".
After an illegal immigrant is caught for rape (or for jerking off onto the victim during the rape), deportation would seem to be in order to me. Instead, the good folks in Germany not only excused and defended the gang rape as "it's just their culture", but then turned around and punished one of their own for daring to criticize the rapists...and her punishment is worse than the rapists.
“Moreover, once other countries retaliate with tariffs, we’ll lose more jobs in export industries like agriculture and technology than we gain in manufacturing.”
It’s weird how these supposedly free economies’ behaviors can just be predicted by experts with out-of-hand certainty.
Especially after they make a statement that may be more or less true but is still nuanced and debatable. Almost like they’re deliberately conflating is/ought.

Sometimes one can almost feel sorry for right-wingers, whose entertainment at the Republican convention involved Lee Greenwood, Kid Rock, Hulk Hogan, Linda McMahon, and that cage-fighting guy, on stage before a sea of stale white bread wearing cowboy hats. Indoors. In Milwaukee.
Democrats can expect a roster chosen among Bruce Springsteen, Tom Hanks, John Fogerty, Billie Eilish, Jackson Browne, Bonnie Raitt, Neil Young, R.E.M., James Taylor, John Legend, Stephen Stills . . . maybe even a Stephen Colbert, Jon Stewart, or Jimmy Kimmel.
Silver-spooned poser Kid Rock, bug-eyed steroids trainwreck Hulk Hogan, and ridiculous fucking cowboy hats. Is that any way for anyone -- even a half-educated, bigoted, right-wing slack-jaw -- to live?
FOAD, asshole bigot.
I feel sorry for the idiot who made this prediction he wishes so, so badly he could delete:
I wouldn’t mind seeing Judge Barrett confirmed, if only because I believe it would precipitate the installation of four new, better justices during the first half of 2021.
We're now in mid 2024.
Biden hasn't packed the Supreme Court.
Biden hasn't even shifted the balance of the SC.
The SC has, however, aborted Roe.
And gutted race-based admissions.
And unanimously reversed the attempt to throw Trump off the ballot.
You're the expert here, of course.
So put that Harvard Law training to work and tell us: Is it even theoretically possible for this prediction to have failed any more spectacularly?
Someone could have bet against those things?
It’s just sad at this point Artie.
Ex-wife's boyfriend catch you playing with your leaky man-boobs under his bedroom window again, Reverend? Go ahead and cry it out, buddy; getting your ass kicked by the dude who succeeded where you failed as a man must be absolutely humiliating.
Every right-thinking, red-blooded American loves Hulk Hogan.
And Neil Young is a Canadian.
I'm trying to see if I get this right.
Dem party wont allow primary debates. Biden voters all vote for him the primaries. he's got the delegates.
Biden doing bad the polls right now (for whatever reason yuo want to think), and so now the party is going to pull him off the ticket and make a back room deal to install a new figurehead?
This sounds very insurrection-y to me and a threat to democracy.
They are the Democratic Party. Whatever they do is by definition "democracy" because it says so on the label.
That is sarcasm, but by the Democrat's rhetoric, they seem to believe it. What they describe as "threats to democracy" seem to be whatvever might cause them to lose power.
Doubting their democracying is like trying to cut down Tony Science Fauci on coof policy or not fighting facists with the anti-fascists of ANTIFA.
Trump is starting to lead in polls in swing states. November is still a long way to go. Normally, at this point the dems would say, ok we are behind now but November is a long way away. They would strategize to change the polls between now and November.
This is the sign that the Biden campaign or any dem strategist cannot come up with a plan that they think will shift voters. I think part of the reason they are giving up on winning the presidency, is they know if Biden steps down, the gaslighting about the quality of Biden's health will be laid bare for everyone to see. It will be undeniable. This is likely to send more votes to Trump.
No, that's already been laid bare. If they don't substitute, they're just rubbing it in, saying, yeah, we gaslighted you because you don't deserve any better, and we'd fuck you worse if we could. In fact, if he even finishes out his term they're saying that.
.
Nope.
Turns out that is how you save democracy.
yup - nuke it from orbit, its the only way to be sure.
Democracy is jeff, pluggo, and a boy voting on who is getting stiffed that night.
I think we all saw this coming.

I just wish it kept going.
Comedy gold.
That’s pretty fucking brilliant.
"Ugly in a way no one wants. But a lot of grim determination. Also a growing sense that if Biden stays in, this will come to be seen as the kind of political catastrophe you don't want to later be seen as silent in."
Ok, let's discuss your industry's silence on the matter for the last six years.
Naturally, the uniform was misspelled, which seems somehow fitting for a Republican Party that's heavy on the symbolism and showmanship but light on the details;
I'm a fan of liz, but check your facts. The uniform was his original and was always misspelled.

Chinatown, Jake.
It's unclear why exactly the city would decide to marshal its resources to force such purveyors to close, especially when they provide alternatives to bars for those who suffer from addiction or just want a different type of social environment.
Yeah, whycome? And B: Perhaps stop voting for Republicans, New Yorkers and this 'social control' aspect of your city will go away.
Everyone with eyeballs and has an honest bone in their body has been concerned about Biden's cognitive decline for a long time following some foreign policy meetings, per Politico.
Manufacturing employment declines are driven mainly by long-term improvements in automation & productivity—not by trade—and trade restrictions will not stop this," writes Brian Riedl in a great X thread debunking common tariff myths. "Moreover, once other countries retaliate with tariffs, we'll lose more jobs in export industries like agriculture and technology than we gain in manufacturing."
I work for a very large muti-national manufacturer. Guess where all of our manufacturing is? No, really, guess. Go on, guess.
we’ll lose more jobs in export industries like agriculture
So what you’re saying is, if we stop giving away our manufacturing jobs, they’ll be forced to grow their own food rather than paying Americans lower prices (*cough*Farm Bill!*cough*) to grow it for them? And...?
Yeah, I didn't even address the "agriculture" laugh riot. The US has been sanctioned by the WTO because it subsidizes its agricultural exports. The WTO has ruled that the US must stop its agricultural exports-- and the US has said, "Not going to happen" so as recompense, it literally pays the aggrieved countries to stop complaining. Literally.
The WTO has ruled that the US must stop its agricultural exports– and the US has said, “Not going to happen” so as recompense, it literally pays the aggrieved countries to stop complaining. Literally.
And... we're not the only ones. And... again, Holland is the world's 3rd largest agricultural exporter and their exports are (organic/carbon neutral) ornamentals. Near-literally, 3rd largest fraction is (organic/carbon neutral) Dutch Tulips.
Mexico?
Mexico, China (multiple cities), Malta, Egypt, Finland etc., etc.
And we are so far from alone it's not even worth discussing.
The idea that our country is overflowing with robot factories which explains the lack of domestic manufacturing employment is to be blinkered beyond reckoning.
'Naturally, the uniform was misspelled, which seems somehow fitting for a Republican Party that's heavy on the symbolism and showmanship but light on the details'
Um, sure. Do you think any family or friends of Comperatore were more annoyed about that than grateful for the public acknowledgment of his death?
Judging by my group chats, yes. Some people just can't let go.
I don't know what's happening in the background on this issue, but if I were Trump, I would do everything I could to make sure that family was taken care of... for life. Every single dollar that was slated to go to E Jean Carol, I would make sure that family gets, and then let Mzzz Carol claw it out of their hands.
Yeah.
When Mother's Lament writes "What person is going to let you shoot at their head from 400 feet away in the hopes that they only nick your ear when you turn your head slightly for just one second during the trigger squeeze."
I have an answer that I can picture in my head pretty vividly that doesn't really, IMO, take a lot of creativity to generate or believe. But that I don't type out because thinking about it too much makes me want to combine anti-depressants and alcohol and I try not to do that sort of thing to other people.
'Perhaps more importantly, the through line between both Tucker Carlson's speech earlier in the evening and Trump's closing speech was a message that life has gotten a lot worse under the Biden administration: Inflation has made groceries and gas more expensive; large swaths of both Eastern Europe and the Middle East are now less stable; parts of our own country are gripped by poverty and drug addiction; the border is increasingly chaotic and intractable, with an influx that can't—or won't—be stemmed.
'Whether or not the message is true is beside the point for a lot of voters'
Are you serious that these claims are substantially not true?
The issue is that those claims were also true during the Trump administration.
Maybe the border, but the rest of that list? Not so much.
Food continuously got more expensive, with an accelerating rate, in 2017-2021:
https://www.usinflationcalculator.com/inflation/food-inflation-in-the-united-states/#google_vignette
Drug overdose numbers set new record highs each year of the Trump administration:
https://nida.nih.gov/research-topics/trends-statistics/overdose-death-rates
A more honest message from Trump would have been: "I made all those things worse, but Biden has surpassed even me."
Weird, I didn’t notice an appreciable difference in my grocery bill until about 21-22. Maybe Texas was more insulated before that.
21-22 was the giant Covid spike.
Like I said, Trump worse, Biden worser.
How is food price increase being precisely, exactly in line with the inflation rate something Trump did?
I mean, 1.6% is actually BELOW the inflation rate for a couple of those years. Here’s inflation:
2016 2.10%
2017 2.10%
2018 1.90%
2019 2.30%
Which is about expected, the FED has been targeting 2% pretty heavily for a lot of years now.
Your own link shows food inflation:
2017 1.6%
2018 1.6%
2019 1.8%
Gotta say, we were doing pretty good on cost of living relative to inflation at that point. In fact, it was the only time I could remember all the way back to the mid ’00s where I was actually making more money each year than the rise in the cost of living.
There’s no Trump Worse in these data. But you keep hoping people won’t click on your links and think your concern troll narratives are real.
Sorry -- forgot to add the link where I got the inflation numbers: https://www.investopedia.com/inflation-rate-by-year-7253832
Well, it's certainly beside the point for Democrat voters.
I guess if people were conned into believing that Biden was sharp and energetic, despite all the evidence to the contrary, they might believe things are going swimmingly in Biden's America and around the world.
“and, oddly, claiming the next RNC will be hosted in Venezuela (?) if Democrats try to steal this election and the country descends into political violence.”
I can never fully tell with him, but I imagine he was either being hyperbolic, basically saying that America would be no different than Venezuela, or satirical like “Venezuela would be safer for our convention”.
It was part of an idiotic argument that all of Venezuela’s murders and rapists are being sent here, leaving it as some kind of safe haven.
As with most of his bullshit, his most loyal base tends to believe it literally, and he intends that they believe it. His more informed voters try to spin it as hyperbole or satire when defending him, but also think it’s fine that the loyalist base believes it as fact.
Considering what a master troll he is, I tend to take what he says (especially at rally’s and on social media) as ridiculously hyperbolic. Probably due to watching to many episodes of The Apprentice.
'Several people close to President [Joe] Biden said they believe that he has begun to accept the idea that he may not be able to win in November and may have to drop out of the race'
Is this a new tactic for American elections? A party can hold primaries and other procedures and select a candidate. And then, when that candidate sags in popularity, the party decides to replace him/her/(it) with a strategically better candidate? When is the date cutoff for this? Can all parties do this during the election cycle?
Easy questions.
Is this a new tactic for American elections?
Not infrequent before we had primaries.
A party can hold primaries and other procedures and select a candidate. And then, when that candidate sags in popularity, the party decides to replace him/her/(it) with a strategically better candidate?
Yes. Nobody is selected until the convention. He’s got enough pledged delegates to win handily on the first ballot. However, those pledges have a lot of ifs on them. Biden can certainly release them, state parties could try to release them, the national convention can change the rules, or delegates can simply violate their pledges. There is no “higher authority” to step in and enforce things.
And on top of all that, even if he wins the national convention, state parties can simply put someone else on their state’s ballot. As Chase Oliver is finding out this cycle. Various Southern states refused to put national Democratic nominees on the ballot in the 1940s-1960s.
When is the date cutoff for this?
December 17, 2024. Because the electors can decide to vote for anyone they please, and the Democrats could suggest to electors that they agree on a new candidate. Some states have laws against that, but if a D wins in a D state and the election is at stake, they would likely just not enforce that law.
Can all parties do this during the election cycle?
Yes. As I said, some state level Libertarian parties are already doing it.
I have predicted that Democrats will keep Biden on the ballot, since they won’t be able to agree on a replacement candidate, or find one who could do better than Biden. Then they will have Biden step down after Election Day and before the Electoral College casts their votes. No messy convention, just the DNC elites picking the president of their choice, if the balloting can be sufficiently fortified in time.
As a bonus, this keeps Harris safely in the VP spot (since Electors are already pledged to vote for her as VP), allowing the DNC elites to explain why they didn't give the shot to the PoC whose turn it was.
Someone contemplative. Someone serene.

Biden is also reportedly asking whether Vice President Kamala Harris might have a decent chance at winning...
If she can win then Biden can win because in that case the actual candidate would have to have been incidental.

In chess, the Greek Gift is a common sacrifice designed to expose the enemy king and start a devastating attack. The Greek Gift happens when a player sacrifices a bishop for the h7-pawn as White or the h2-pawn as Black. Why would a player trade a bishop for a single pawn? This sacrifice exposes the enemy king and allows for a ferocious attack to start. (It's not meant to be taken as a slur against the fine people of Greece but refers to the Trojan Horse mentioned in Homer's Iliad.)
I suspect the Democrats know that the next four years are going to be a shit show for the US and are happy to stay clear of the White House.
The Trojan Horse was really a Greek Horse, and a fraud. Presented as a peace offering, it was full of Greek soldiers who, once inside Troy, were able to open the gates for the attacking Greek army.
Hence the old saying "beware of Greeks bearing gifts."
"The Trojan Horse was really a Greek Horse, and a fraud"
Not to quibble, maybe just a bit, but it wasn't a horse at all but a large, hollow wooden replica of a horse.
And to be perfectly clear, The Iliad wasn't written by Homer, but another guy named Homer.
Yeah, the last four years have been so awesome.
